This just kept getting better and better the more I read! I felt so many emotions in this book, good and bad. I loved the plot and the way Mokoto's character was gone into in even more depth.
I also really liked the introductions and the development to many other character of the newer generations too, as well as the older members of the family from the previous book.
This book had me guessing and wondering what was going to happen next, and the plot twists as I got further into the book really shocked me. One part actually made me shake, I really loved this!

This one has a large focus in the epic war plot, which provides so much more depth to the characters and the plot itself, it does get more into the darker topics as well.

I really enjoyed this instalment, and despite what Mokoto does, he is still my favourite character from the series

The second installment continues largely from the first. It follows the now king's life and thoughts very much like a diary.

However this book has a stronger plot with the war starting and ending. All the consequences, betrayals, deaths, secrets and conspiracies that are wrapped up in the story are explored and add depth and excitement to the book.

This is a different type of setting, set in an alternate universe on another planet with Earth/Humans seen as the enemy, it's more sci-fi but enough fantasy elements to keep me engaged as well. It's a political-lite book but not to its detriment.
