I have always been different…very different. Not that anyone would ever know. It has taken most of my life to learn how to control and hide it. Even with so much conditioning, pain, and effort, I still stand out. Like, two-time Wushu World Champion stand out. At only seventeen.
Secrets.
I thought I was alone. An anomaly. Yet, when I tried to use my abilities for something good, that’s when they came for me. Unraveling my secrets and revealing ones I never even knew I had. About me. About my parents. About where I came from. And through it all, I have so many questions. Who is the real threat? The man that took everyone I love? The one that almost killed me? Or the corporation pulling all the strings?
Lies.
The more secrets I discover, the more that people end up suffering. Because everything is a lie constructed by the corporation looming in the background and carried out by my parents. I don’t know who to trust. Could I have stopped it all had I known? Could I have saved the people I love? Saved them from me?
Every now and then, a book comes along that changes the way we think about things and challenges us to look deeper into the characters' lives, and as an extension, our own. With her debut novel, Memento Moira, author Sheena Hayes has taken the superhero genre and given it a depth of humanity that is often alluded to, but rarely so masterfully explored.
Equal parts action, suspense, hope and heartbreak, Memento Moira is the story of Moira Caron, who a week ago was not unlike many 17 year olds… Quite, socially awkward, unpopular and just trying to navigate high school., but Moira has a secret and now she's the only one capable of stopping the evil that's descended on her town, her friends and her family. An evil she's unwittingly unleashed...

Let me first start off by saying I received this book for my honest review.
You want a action packed story that will seriously keep you at the edge of your seat? Memento Moira was a fun read that sucked me in with the great story telling. The FMC is very relatable and I really liked that her choices were plausible and not outlandish. She is so strong an I love a strong FMC that takes no sh*t and can kick some serious bum.
There was such a great plot that had me anxious, gasping, laughing and feeling some lioness roaring pride for the FMC. Then on the flip side I could also feel the strain and fight within her parents, as a parent myself I could understand their choices.
I enjoyed the other characters, though they came in the second half it was the great set up for the next book that I expected it to be. I am excited to see what happens in the next book because I know we are NOT done with the FMC's story.
An amazing and new kind of story. What would you do for your child? Some would do anything to save them but there are consequences to “anything”. This is a story of the lies and discovery of those consequences for that child as she grows up. She is left with powers she doesn’t fully understand but begins to learn about and what paths she wants to take with them. Secrets unraveled relationships betrayed. And is she alone or not? Love, family, friends, adventure, action and self discovery. This book was truly one of a kind. I loved it!
While I love sci fi and mystery, it’s not my normal go to for book genres. However one of my favorite authors recommended it and I’m so glad I listened to her suggestion!
This book has so many twists and turns when you think you know what’s happening it changes (in a good way!). I love the main character Moira and the trajectory of her story throughout the book. If you like books that keep you guessing, mystery and sci fi, definitely give this book a chance. Looking forward to the next book, as the cliffhanger left me wanting more.
I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
When starting this book I thought it was going to an average novel that was enjoyable but not memorable… I was WRONG. Sheena C Hayes has created a MC that I absolutely loved. Moira is strong and relatable and her journey in this book is heartbreaking and moving. I LOVED every minute of it and am glad there will be another book so I can read more about these characters and their crazy journey.
When I agreed to read this I had no idea this was a YA read. I liked the characters and the flow of the story, but I could not get into the story. The characters were too young for my taste and that isn’t a negative thing about the story. It was enjoyable, but I like to be able to see myself as a character, and I couldn’t connect myself in this story. I would read more from the author, but would be more selective if it’s another YA read.
I have I thought this was a good read and I enjoyed it and read it from the very beginning to the very end. I thought the story line was done nicely and explained alot to me in my opinion. The characters were very good fit to the story and explained a lot to me in my opinion. I got this book for free with an honest review freely given.to say that
this was a great blend of science fiction and suspense, the characters were what I wanted and I loved the storyline of the novel. I was hooked from the cover and was excited to see where this was going.

The book had an interesting concept and a lot of potential but fell a bit flat for me. In the beginning, I felt like it followed the main character nearly every single second of her day but a little more than halfway through started to pick up. I also didn't really forge a good bond with the main character as she came off as snotty and unjustifiably hateful to her parents. You find out later that she had good reason, but no one, even the main character knows that until much later. Most of the characters' actions seem off to me like I couldn't picture the character doing or saying the things they did given the information I was presented. There are a lot of grammatical mistakes and some misused words as well. The things I did like, however, were the strength of the main character, the action scenes, the beginning hook was good, and the cover is gorgeous.
