Kade and Aiesha have been dating for a little over a month now. Everything is great, except maybe that their dogs are still working on getting to know each other.
When Kade gets a Valentine's card in the mail from Aiesha, she's thrilled at the invitation within. However, she hadn't given Valentine's Day nearly as much thought. Will she be able to come up with a commiserate gift or is she the worst girlfriend ever?
#3 in the Kade and Aliesha series. Once again dogs Shori and Max feature intertwined with our leads continuing romance. It's cute when the humans do voice overs for the respective dogs but for me this storyline didn't flow as easily as the others. Planning for a Valentine's weekend - no angst needed.
I rec'd a copy through Booksprout and this is an unbiased review.
Not the most exciting read but was super relatable. Just a sweet little short story following the couple from Snow Falls. Lots of communication and synchronization and a normal amount of panic.
Aiesha Hodge teased Kade about how infrequently Kade checks his mail. It had been 2 weeks since the last time. So when walking Max, Kade stopped to check for new mail which was promptly dumped on the table and forgotten. Kade and Aiesha have been dating for a little over a month now, and thoughts of her always bring a smile. It wasn’t until the next day that Kade spotted the unopened mail left on the table. Only the red envelope survived the automatic dump into the trashcan the rest was tossed.
Finding the probable Valentine’s Day card in the red envelope from Aiesha, it is a reminder that a gift is needed for her for Valentine’s Day. Finding the red envelope was thicker in spots and had extra postage attached, opening it revealed a cutout of a dog with felt for the fur. And her note said she had made reservations for them in an Airbnb which included a private hot tub. What is a good gift to give in return? Flowers? Candy? And how will their dogs get along at the Bnb celebration? Are there any surprises in store for them?
This story moves along glacier-slow. There was nothing to pull the reader in or cause a tense moment. It just droned slowly onward. The most exciting part was that Max liked licking hot tub water off their legs while Shori did not. I was definitely not impressed with this one.
A first big holiday as a couple. And it is cool to read about them both being vegan/vegetarian and just the mundanities of managing life, like making their dogs get along.
I will say that I was hoping since they were getting closer, we would also learn a little more about Aiesha? Like, we know she is a woman of colour but have gotten no further details on that as if it has no impact on her life yet this book also discusses the necessity of finding a (queer) community and appropriate college choices... And while the stories remain closed-door, each time they did end up having sex. I do wish we would get one story where that wasn't the case.
Short, cute read centered around Valentine’s. I didn’t realize there were 8 books and this was book three and it didn’t deter from the story.
This was told in Kade’s pov and I enjoyed her heart and charm and authenticity. Aiesha seems sweet and open and warm. They seemed like a good match and I’m interested to see more communication around what they are looking to experience as a couple.
This was a great really cute read. It is the 3rd in a series about this couple. The first book is Snow Fall. This is where Kade and Aiesha meet for the first time. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... I have really enjoyed following their on going romance. I highly recommend all 3 of these books and am waiting for the next in the series. Sage Donnell is one of my favorite authors. Check out some of her other books. This series is written in the a short read format which I have found I really enjoy. Some of the other Sage Donnell books are more full length.
I'm really enjoying this small series, to be able to witness the day to day of a couple newly started in a relationship is balm to my soul. It feels really good.
