Things I loved:
- Kevin and Hux - I just love super smart, geeky characters
- Kevin for being so sweet and adorable
- the banter between them
- everything game related – it's as ridiculous as it is funny
- Henry and Rodrigo – my favourite side characters in the story
But:
- I enjoyed the storyline in book 2 a bit more
- even though I really liked Kevin and Hux together, I was more invested in Champ and Quinn's relationship in the previous book
- a lot of things that happen throughout the story were obvious to me from the start, so there were no real surprises for me here
Overall, this was fun and very entertaining. I quite enjoyed it.

So good! My favourite one of them all
I loved this and I so badly wish Horn of Glory was a real game because it sounds like an absolute riot!
Kevin and Hux have been snipping at each other throughout the series and it's clear to everyone else why that is.
They're oblivious to the whole situation of simmering UST between them until they end up having to work close together as the team chases down the Cartel members whose information was discovered in book two.
There's some fabulous banter between them, a dodgy Horn of Glory player who might be after more than just Kev's security advice, and a whole load of twists and turns along the way to a very happy ending!
I've loved both series' set in Licking Thicket and shall miss this world, but what a great way to wrap things up.

4 Loved it Stars!! 😍😍 This was a great enemies-to-lovers story ❤️ For all who have followed the series know the rivalry between Kevin and Hux; so I had been waiting to find out how two of the most bitter rivals could fall in love.. and it was worth the wait. Kevin was super “adorakable” and Hux was a sexy mix of Marine hotness and tech brilliance. They made an awesome couple with their childish competitiveness to their love for all things “Horns of Glory”. It was also great to see the inner insecurities and vulnerabilities that made them slowly come closer and see each other in a new light and find out that they were actually “Made For Each Other” 💕💕
As much as I loved this book, I still consider book 2 as my favorite. Having said that, I still recommend reading this book and of course the entire series.. 👍🏻👍🏻

~ Lots of HOG talk, but I didn't mind (much)
~ Mild enemies-to-lovers (snark was Hux and Kev's love language)
~ Interesting, fast-paced plot (grab your fiction shades and hold on tight)
~ Possessive growliness
~ Sexy virgin action (too many fade-to-black scenes though)
~ Judgy AI named Henry (light-years ahead of current tech but fun anyway)
~ Swoony epilogue
Ticked all my boxes. Thumbs up.

Wonderfully nerdy wrap-up to the Horn of Glory-series.
First of all: should it be read as a standalone? Absolutely not. Unlike many other books by this duo, this series is not just set in the same small town, following different couples: we have a story arc that starts in book one, and that (thankfully) ends with this one. It’s not that I didn’t like it, it’s just that I think it might have felt a bit dragged out otherwise.
Did I enjoy the final book despite the nerdy talk? Definitely, although I can understand how it might be a bit much for people who’re not either into gaming or at least into computers in general.
I fall into the latter category - while I don’t have the time and patience for games, I’m familiar with all things computer related, even as far as understanding how encryption and the like work - and let me tell you, Lucy and May did their homework: the tech/nerd part is done pretty well 👍🏻
As for the romance part: it wasn’t really enemies to be lovers, more like 2 a bit socially awkward rivalling computer geeks who need a bit until they realise how good they are together. I loved the humour and the banter, and the thankfully missing third act breakup.
Why not 5 stars then? It’s the mystery part. It’s been so clear right from the start what (and who) the bad guy is all about, I rolled my eyes more than once 🙄 but ok. I know that writing mysteries isn’t what both authors do best.
Still: I had fun, and I had fun (again) with the audio version, which I (again) sped up a bit.
All in all a solid, satisfying wrap up to an enjoyable series.

Kev is still my fave from this series haha. took me a while to warm up to Hux since he kept pulling stupid shit for longer than necessary, but overall these two are up there with my favorite couple from this series. Hard toss up between these two and Champ and Quinn.

I don't know where i thought this book would go, but i didn't see it playing out quite like this, i am not complaining.. well not 100% but idk i felt like there was something missing, i feel like that happens with all books that your favorite characters are apart of. if they aren't done right and there is something missing you can't quite put your finger on it makes it hard to fully love. I will say the "Bad Guy" was a tad obvious, but the puns in this story were perfection.
I am sad that this series is over, but i am looking forward to their new one that starts at the end of the year.
I'll definitely have to make this town a reread because i love this small town they created!

I read over half of this in one sitting (and only stopped because I apparently still have to work?). It was a quick, sweet read that constantly had me laughing. The romance and spicy scenes are important to the story without taking over and the book ties up all the loose ends of the series nicely (which makes me sad because I want more Licking Thicket!)

4.5 "Hacked" Stars!
⭐︎
Overall, I adored this. It wasn't quite enemies-to-lovers, so I didn't tag that. It was more like...rivals to lovers. They fought and said some mean things to each other, but they didn't hate each other and weren't on opposing sides or anything. Really, from the beginning, there was intense attraction between them and want even under the the snark and mean things said between them. So i didn't feel like this was a true enemies-to-lovers tale.
Buttt I enjoyed this so much that I didn't take any points off for that. In the end that didn't matter because I loved Kevin and Huxley's chemistry so much. They just clicked from the beginning and I was invested in these two from the start and on until the end.
This story wraps up the Horn of Glory storyline and brings our three couples and their stories to an end.
While they managed to save the day in the previous book, there's still more for the team to do. There are 12 cartel associates out there with Horns that have money laundering details on them that the team has to go and get the data off of, without alerting these 12 members that they are doing so.
What ensues are some easy missions where they're able to create some distractions, and some not so easy ones that require some extra work.
Kevin is brought into the missions, because he's a great computer wiz, and also his online "boyfriend" might not be exactly who purports to be.
Huxley, at first, has such a problem with Kevin mainly because of his own insecurities, honestly, and Kevin gives back as good he gets - mostly - but any animosity from Kevin's end is mostly reactionary.
That's what also felt non-enemies-to-lovers about this. Kevin truly never had any ill will against Hux. While Hux never truly hated Kevin either, he caused the rift between them, he made things all tense and the "dislike" to fester, really. But while Hux got angry at Kev and misunderstood a lot of his intentions, Kevin just really want to help them, honestly, and felt like he should do more with his privileged status.
Kevin didn't take things lying down, but his intentions were always good when he did things.
He really was just a sweetie pie, and Hux put up walls for a multitude of reasons against such a sweet, wonderful man.
My only real gripe, and my reason for taking .5 stars off of this, is Kevin's attitude near the climax of this story. Because Hux...he gets pretty damn protective, maybe a little overprotective. Which I get Kevin's annoyance, of course I get that part.
My annoyance with Kev's attitude happens when circumstance arise in which he has to go up against the bad guy. The bad guy who is a trained government agent, who is cahoot was the freaking cartel, who are people not to be messed with.
He gets angry at Hux's overprotectiveness over that. But see, Hux and the team are also trained professionals, and some, if not all, have a military background. So they're used to this.
Kev is strong and definitely capable in most things. But this is...a freaking murderer who wouldn't hesitate in putting Kev down if he had to and Kev's angry with Hux for freaking out so much about him going up against this guy, alone? (I mean, the FBI are there too and the team, so he's not alone alone, but he's still going into a room with this guy alone.
It just felt a little ridiculous that he'd get annoyed at Hux at being scared for him when he's truly just a regular guy, a civilian, with NO training whatsoever, going up against a trained guy whose in league with very bad men. It just felt...I little eye roll inducing for him to get all huffy and up in arms about Hux being so concerned about that.
Like yeah, Kev, we get it, you can hold your own and your not some weakling, but how about some perspective here? There are several times where Kev has a hard time handling the stuff they're doing on this mission and even thinks 'yeah maybe Hux has a point' but then he turns around to be like "i'm not some weakling who needs protecting!" and it's just like...dude...it's not about that. You're very capable at what you do, which is computer stuff, but real world stuff against a very dangerous person? Come ON.
Of course it works out - because of course - and Kev does okay, but let's be real here. It could very well not have worked out and he has no combat training. He has some like...self defense training, but I'm sorry, that's nothing against someone who is highly trained - and also highly trained with a gun.
So that part of this annoyed me, but since it was near the end and not SO heavily present in the rest of this book, I only gave .5 stars off for it.
Otherwise I absolutely adored this book and I definitely recommend it to others.
A very wonderful last installment to round out this spin off Licking Thicket series. I can't wait for more from this writing duo, and it's great to know they do have a new series coming out together soon.
So definitely two thumbs up from me! A great end to a very enjoyable series. It's sad to see all these Licking Thicket men go, but it ends on a wonderful note 🥰😘😍

I'm the first one to tell you that I have a complicated relationship to these authors. They are either an epic miss or an epic hit. Not often anything in between. Personally, I think this book might have been the most epic hit of their co-written works so far.
I loved Kev and Hux from the very first page and I was crying happy tears at the end. Sure, I figured out the bad guy pretty much from the start but, I couldn't care less.

3.25 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was fun and cute. A much more enjoyable read for me than the previous book. I liked both the MCs Huxley and Kevin, and their relationship was very sweet. This was classic Archer/Lennox low stakes, low angst, easy-breasy reading which is just what I was in the mood for.
My only two grumbles are (1) did the case have to be so obvious? lol 😆. And (2) I don’t know who that’s supposed to be on the cover but it is not muscular, brilliant, sexy, crinkly-eyed Zac Efron look-alike Huxley I can tell you that.

If you can suspend your reality and embrace the puns with fierce abandon, this last installment of the series will have you utterly charmed and snort-laughing for hours. (You MUST read the first two books of this series for any of this story to make sense, so it is definitely not a standalone. I'd start with Fakers from the Licking Thicket books for the full 'Licking' experience and to give you the most bang for your buck.)
The ongoing mystery around the Cartel's nefarious use of the Horn of Glory video game was finally resolved in Hacked in a very satisfying way. I started to question my own sanity when the HOG game began to make sense though. It was so over-the-top and zany that the crazier the authors got with the names and the quests, the more it worked for me. But the best part of Hacked was that the tension between Hux and Kev finally, finally came head-to-head...to head...and it was glorious! These two were wildly romantic and ridiculously hilarious in the best of ways and I loved them both to pieces. This whole series was a trip and a half, but this was might just be my favorite couple of the series.
The ongoing mystery around the Cartel's nefarious use of the Horn of Glory video game was finally resolved in Hacked in a very satisfying way. I started to question my own sanity when the HOG game began to make sense though. It was so over-the-top and zany that the crazier the authors got with the names and the quests, the more it worked for me. But the best part of Hacked was that the tension between Hux and Kev finally, finally came head-to-head...to head...and it was glorious! These two were wildly romantic and ridiculously hilarious in the best of ways and I loved them both to pieces. This whole series was a trip and a half, but this was might just be my favorite couple of the series.

I have been anxiously awaiting this book, since I finished Hitched. The snarky banter between these two has been hilarious, so I couldn't wait for them to work out their differences and get their HEA. And, it definitely didn't disappoint.
Jasper Huxley and Kevin Rogers have been enemies in Horn of Glory and subsequently in real life since Hux attacked Kev in game and stole all his pips. They've been snapping and snarking at each other ever since. But, when circumstances force the Champion Security team to retreat to Kev's house he shares with Carter and Riggs, he and Hux are forced to work together. And, along the way realize that maybe all that animosity they feel towards each other has been masking another emotion this whole time.
I adore these two idiots so much. Especially because they are both so much more alike than they realized. They are both brilliant and dedicated, but they also deeply want a place to belong. I loved watching them learn to see past their initial impressions and really get to know each other. They mystery in this book wrapped up really nicely (and differently than I was expecting), but it kept me invested. And, I did really like that there was no third act break-up or unnecessary melodrama or miscommunication. Yes, there was conflict between Kev and Hux, but it was dealt with in a way that felt right for the characters.
Three Thoughts:
1. Rodrigo. More romance books should have cute animals in them.
2. I don't love the implication that online relationships aren't real. I know in this case it's true, and Hux's reactions are due to jealousy. But, online relationships (both platonic and romantic) can be just as "real" as in person relationships as long as the people in them are being genuine.
3. Kev having an AI that sounds exactly like Henry Cavill was both completely unexpected and completely on brand for my favorite computer nerd.
I really loved this series over all. And this book especially. The books these authors write when they collaborate just work for me. And, I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

We’ve seen Kevin and Hux fuss and fight in the previous books. They love to rile each other up online and in person, and get under each other's skin. But under the surface there’s more going on. They’re also fighting an attraction and their own self-doubt and self-worth issues. Kev is more of a wealthy, intellectual, loner, computer and gamer geek, and Hux is a cocky, badass commando with a nerdy gamer and tech security side. But when things start getting more complicated with the case they will have to use their skills to work together. And forced proximity brings to light what’s really been driving their heated exchanges…passion. And now Kevis right in the middle of this whole dangerous caper and Hux trying to figure out how he can both support and believe in Kev, but also keep them safe and complete the mission. And also hope that when Kev knows all his secrets it won't send him back to hiding in his lair again.
This brings back all of the Champion Security guys and ties up the plot threads from books one and two. I loved Kev and Hux together. It's an opposites-attract, enemies-to-lovers with humor, heart, and heat with a romantic suspense subplot. It's fun, silly, suspenseful, and heartwarming. I'll come clean...I enjoyed the first two books in this series, but the whole gaming aspect of it didn't connect. I'm not much of a gamer, but I've lived with guys who were/are for years, so I get it, I just didn't...well...care all that much. The romance was solid, the suspense, the heat, all good, but not on my all-time favorites list.
So, I thought going into Hacked that I would have to overlook that part again and focus on the good stuff that these two do so well. Boy, was I wrong. THIS book made it all make sense. Or maybe I just fell so much in love with Kev and Hux that it didn't matter, but at one point I honestly found myself wondering why the amaranthine shock wave turned things purple instead of yellow, since amaranth is a grain. Did they mean amethystine? Because amethysts are purple...at that moment, I knew they had me lock, stock, and apple butter barrel.
I love these characters so much, how they both grew throughout the book, and how sweet they are together. The heat factor may be slightly lower than others, but still plenty hot, and the swoon factor wreaths everything in fairy lights.
I finished with a huge smile on my face, which I think would make HogDoc quite happy.

Gosh, to think I left this one for one year when I've read it twice already. God! I hate being a mood reader😭.
I absolutely adore Hux & Kev ❤️ it kinda reminded me of IRL (Wells & Coner); that one was one of my favorite, and now I think I'm going to do a re-read for it❤️.
These Two geeky guys are rivals in real life and in a video game; just sign me up. I love these types of stories. The previous book had the build-up for this book as enemies to lovers, but it's more like rivals.
I loved the bunny Rodrigo; he's the epitome of cuteness, and The AI Henry was a nice touch. I also loved catching up with Champ & Quinn again, but I'm team Hux & Kev❤️.
I really wanted the animosity to be more, but I guess Hux was just smitten by Kev, so it all worked out in the end. Even tho part of the story was predictable; it didn't take out my enjoyment of the book.

especially when it starts as enemies (and ends as lovers)
Huxley and Kevin are so adorable and sweet. in the first 20% of the book, i thought they'd hate each other for a long time until it literally switched and clicked super quickly. from there, i was hooked (i already was).
the epilogue was the cherry on top. i squealed.

I hated this.
Neither of these authors would be my go to for suspense or action and this did not change my mind.
There are pointless miscommunications and stupid lies. The Adam character makes no sense. The MCs are supposed to be enemies at the start but maybe all of that was in the first couple of books and I just didn't notice.
My main problem though is all the twee. So much twee. The in world game that the book revolves around is a bombardment of twee and it gets all over everything. I seriously wanted to claw my eyes out.

My kingdom for a thousand stories about Jasper and Kevin!! These two have been at it since the beginning of the series and I knew, I JUST KNEW that their book was going to be a blast of brilliance and I was not disappointed.
The Champ security team is in the thick of it, abd Kev is in the mix, this puts him in direct contact with Hux, and the tempers, and UST just flare right up.
I loved it, I tried to savor this read, but I know I'll go back and read it again. The sweetness, the hilarity, the steam. This book, this series has all the wonderful things!!!

I stand corrected. I can’t believe I said I might not read this because I’m not a huge fan of the hacker/computer geek trope when this book completely changed my mind 😭 There were lots of those geeky elements and some online chats but I thought the authors just put enough in there without making it their whole personality if that makes sense? I loved these two sm!! Ngl the first few chapters were so grating with how much Kev and Hux were literally fighting like cats 😂 After that the development of their relationship is seamless. There’s just something so yummy about a former Marine whose overprotective of his boyfriend while also knowing that he needs to not interfere during an important job no matter how dangerous the situation is because he knows how important it is for Kevin to help the team.

Well that was just a lot of fun! A great book to listen to through the busy days around Thanksgiving. Loved it, loved the series, love this author combo and loved Michael Dean's narration.

I have to say I liked the book but I didn't love it.
Hux and Kev were cuties with the best lead up to love story. Enemies, frenemies, to lovers.. ahhh.. its almost as good as GFY trope... Anyhoo... We get updates on the others love lives.. Quinn/Champ-Carter/Riggs.. Just enough to be interesting but not enough to overwhelm the story. Such of fan of that kind of balance. Its hard to do but really good authors use it wisely (emhh JRW take notes). Maybe during a lull or boring spot before a reveal ...
Hux and Kev love to get on each others nerves. Burning kelp forests, ransacking a jam cellar. Nothing is off limits. Hux thinks Kev is trust fund brat with too much time on his hands.. Poor Kev wants validation for his accomplishments. When you have a Henry Cavill AI to help the mood along.. what can go wrong???
