What do you do when ghosts rise from the past? When they reveal long-buried secrets that could turn your world upside down?
When an earthquake causes a breach at a super-secret Pharos prison, Kensy and Max must join an urgent assignment to Queenstown, New Zealand. Time is of the essence – the escaped prisoners are two highly dangerous men out for revenge against both Pharos and the Spencer family.
The twins head into the wilderness in pursuit. But the mountains are dangerous, and instability brought on by the earthquake is only making things worse. Meanwhile, strange things are happening back in London as one Pharos agent is attacked and another disappears. It will take all of Kensy and Max’s hard-earned skills to come out of this mission alive – but what will be waiting for them when they do?
Jacqueline Harvey has combined a successful career in education with her love of a good story. She is the author of many novels for younger readers and a picture book, THE SOUND OF THE SEA, which was awarded Honour Book in the 2006 Australian Children’s Book Council Awards.
Jacqueline taught in Infants and Primary schools and was Deputy Head of Abbotsleigh Junior School (an independent day and boarding school for girls) in Sydney Australia for seven and a half years before taking up the position of Director of Development at Abbotsleigh in 2010. In October 2012 she resigned to become a full time writer and speaker.
Jacqueline’s bestselling Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose series’ centre on the adventures of two young girls.
Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones is a perpetually positive and determined seven year old who takes herself off to boarding school because it appeals to her sense of adventure.
Clementine Rose is a sweet little girl, who brings much joy to her family and the friends she makes along the way in her journeys through the first five books of the series. A star of the show is Clementine Rose’s pet, an adorable teacup pig called Lavender.
Her newest series is called Kensy and Max about twins who learn that their grandmother is head of the world's most important spy organisation, Pharos.

OMG the cliffhanger help honestly, i forgot just how much i love kensy and max <3 i remember picking up the first book in 2019 i think and 5 years later, here we are :) it’s kinda crazy how we’re getting closer to finding the mole in pharos but i haven’t read book 6 and 8 yet :/ i wish more of the gang was included but it was still pretty fun to read and HEJEJDH istg i want the gadgets so so bad. like these books were literally what introduced me to the spy genre (along with mrs smith’s spy school for girls) but omg percy macgregor and lawrence???? the stakes are much higher rn and like bro tippie’s an abusive wife? never liked her but damn thats a whole other level. bro the note :O is tippie the mole? i really wish the books were longer because they’re absolutely amazing! i always wished that there’d be an alice-miranda crossover and since there’s still the last book left, i’m reaaaally hoping that happens :) bruh none of the libraries here have the 10th book so that sucks :/ omg i hope max and autumn get together aaaa kensy and max and the land of stories really kickstarted by obsession with london and twins LIKE I WANT A TWIN BROTHER SO BAD ITS LIKE A BUILT IN BEST FRIEND YK ?! as you can probably tell, kensy and max has a really special place in my heart 💌🌟

I do love a good Jacqueline Harvey book, and although the spy plots always go a little over my head upon the first read, and especially with Kensy and Max, I can never remember absolutely every detail from each preceding book, but even still, there is something so lovable about Kensy and Max. The spy plot of this book is also very exciting, and I was very worried for Max for a little while there. While I never enjoy the ones where they're away from their friends as much, it's still pretty fun!
