This wonderful little book and its enchantingly magical illustrations really took me back to my own childhood. It makes you feel safe and secure and it teaches the valuable lesson that anyone can be a friend no matter what they may look like on the outside, that's not what's important. I really love the way the book talks about the sounds the characters make and how they each think that the other character is the strange one. The book is perfectly suited to its age group, as it uses quite simple language and plot, but can still hold the attention of an adult all the way through, let alone a child. I really love this book and now that I have read it I will be sure to pass it on to the little children in my family, who I'm sure will love it just as much!
I read this book because I saw it was illustrated by Tony DiTerlizzi and I love anything he draws. This book did not disappoint in that area, the pictures were sweet and animated. I loved seeing the interaction between these two friends. The story was simple, but I think children will find this book amusing. I'd probably recommend.
My 5 year old son picked this out of a little free library not far from our house. He adores the book and had us read it over and over until his bedtime. The story is sweet and simple and a lovely tale about friendship. I’m so glad we stumbled across this book. I’ll be looking for more in the series now.
Fun story that puts two very unlikely creatures together. The narrative is simple for beginning readers and the short stories are great for allowing beginning readers to take a break. The illustrations are marvelous.
