Aurora & Landon were the absolute cutest….I loved the way Landon simply fell into taking care of Aurora shortly after meeting her….He made it clear that Aurora and Bryson were his family. Landon’s father was trash…just greedy…..Yara & Damien were crazy as hell….But, they enjoyed life and each other….they were perfect for one another….This was my first story from this author and I really enjoyed it….Excellent Recommendation @Rashawnda📚
WOW!!! Absolutely AMAZING!!!! I’ve sat on this book for a while and decided to crack it open and man do I wish I had read it a long time ago! Words cannot describe how good this book was! It’s one of those books that you can’t stop reading but also try to pace yourself because you don’t want it to end!
Aurora was a young lady from Mozambique that was forced to be married to Landon the American dope boy in order for their fathers to mutually settle a debt that Landon’s father owed. Aurora was stripped from the only home and family she knew and sent off to wed Landon. Accompanied by her sister Yara, she embarked upon her new life. Yara was a rebel that should’ve been married off first but wasn’t since she was a hot mama and gave up the goods. She ended up falling for Landon’s best friend and right hand man Damion and when I tell you he was a whole fool with no filter…. A WHOLE FOOL!!!! He had me laughing the whole book!
This story was not lacking in drama, laughs, spice and everything in between. Landon was the perfect gentleman making Aurora as comfortable as possible while she adjusted to being his wife. They were the cutest as the navigated and adjusted to adapt to a situation that neither of them wanted to begin with. He really was the best and had sis turned all the way out once they got comfy…. Like ALL THE WAY OUT 💦🥵 The journey to HEA was so beautiful! Ugh!!! This really was an amazing story! You will not be disappointed!! Add it to your list and read it today!!
I was slowly falling into a book slump, then I remember a book friend had recommended this book to me. And poof, just like that, I was back. This was such a feel-good read. Marriage of convenience and arranged marriages and stuff like that are never really my thing. But this was done so beautifully. Landon was a savage and he was ruthless. You're all good in Landon's book if 1) you don't mess with his business or money and 2) his family. Doing so will for sure cost you your life. Doesn't matter who you are. Aurora was sweet, innocent, and mild mannered. After being thrown into a marriage with Landon, I was worried how they were going to make it work. But Landon was the epitome of patience. He was extremely gentle with her and cared so much about her well-being and safety. Even though they were both thrown into a potentially difficult situation, their love was so effortless. I love the love and the drama in this book. Damion and Yara were the real MVP cause they were a mess. Mainly Damion. This man doesn't think before he speaks, and when he does speak, you're always in for a treat. S/o to my book friend for this rec. Her recs never miss.
In order to ease Aurora into her new role as his wife, Landon was a gentleman. They were nice to read as they maneuvered and made accommodations to fit into a circumstance that neither of them desired in the first place. Yara and Damien were a nice balance.
First read from Shanel & I enjoyed every minute of this story & the characters . I couldn’t wait for it to all play out cause I knew they all would fall hard once they gave in. I was here for it.
3.5……I love a good arranged marriage book! It’s definitely one of my favorite tropes. The synopsis of this book really drew me in and I was looking forward to reading this one.
This book left me with mixed feelings. Aurora was forced to leave her country Mozambique to marry a man in America. Her sister Yara was to go along for the journey as well. Landon’s father was in some trouble and this marriage was a way to make these troubles disappear.
Aurora was very sweet and timid. I really loved the innocence about her. I loved how despite the unconventional circumstances, Landon did his due diligence to make her feel as comfortable as possible. I loved how the progression of their relationship was nice and slow. They built a trust and a comfort level that allowed them to get to know eachother and build a genuine connection. Their chemistry was real and the spicy scenes were hooooottt! I loved Aurora opening up and really coming into herself. Landon was such a sweetheart from beginning to end. I loved the balance of his dominant alpha side and his gentle side. I really enjoyed these two together. I will be honest and say that at times I was a bit bored with Aurora and Landon and would skim through a few of their scenes.
While I loved me some Aurora and Landon, Damion and Yara were the real stars of the book! Damion was a whole fool! He had absolutely no filter and kept me entertained! Yara was a great balance for him. I felt that these two overshadowed Aurora and Landon. I was more interested in their story honestly.
Now for what I didn’t quite like…..
Yara and Aurora were from Mozambique, a country in South Africa. I wish we would have gotten more of the culture. This story lacked details of their clothing, food, language, etc. I had no idea they had a heavy accent until Landon’s adorable son mentioned it briefly.
I also found some aspects of the story unbelievable. I couldn’t quite understand why a wealthy oil tycoon, which was Aurora’s father, would bother to use an an American drug dealer as his connect to establish his business in America. I wonder how Landon’s father even got indebted to Aurora’s father in the first place.
I wish this story gave more back story on Landon and his father’s relationship and why it was so strained.
Throughout the book, Aurora and Yara’s father and his ruthlessness has mentioned quite a few times. When he finally made his way to America for a visit, I was like ruthless where? He allowed Damion and Landon to speak to him anyway they pleased, disrespectfully. We did not even get a small glimpse of this ruthless man that was spoken about.
We needed more character development!
Overall this was a solid story! I did enjoy it and I look forward to what Shanel brings us next.
Aurora and Landon did not plan to be a peaceful place for one another, given how their relationship started. The way they grew into their friendship and connection was unexpectedly amazing. Landon's son Bryson was a nice little addition to the tale. Then there was Damion and Yara; they had me cracking up most of the time. You'll like this one.
I really enjoyed this book. The main couples start off on an unconventional foot but the path to finding love is in the works. I loved me some Yara her and Damion really made the the story. This was really good read
I have so many thoughts about this book (I literally have 4 pages of notes that I've jot while I read this book). It was a good read, but I think I've looked too deep into this. Spoilers ahead.
Spoiler starts -----------
We have a royal family where the father and mother are both from Mozambique so how did the daughter end up with a name like Aurora that has a Latin basis? I expected Aurora to have an African or Arabic name with possibly a Portuguese name since they colonized the country. That was strike one. Also why did Aurora name her daughter such an American name when her trip to marry Landon was the first time she left her country?
Next, why was Aurora married off to an American and NOT Yara? It would seem that Yara's promiscuity would cause a problem with her finding a husband in her homeland so it would have made more sense for Yara to be the one married off and not Aurora.
Next, what sort of visa do these girls have that these non-American girls can just move to the US without having any sort of paperwork and can extend their stay on a whim (Yara)? Also where are these girls' security? The king only had 2 children so their kids would be in line for the throne. Why would he send them on a commercial flight (especially when he has a private plane) without any sort of security? That's just asking for them to be kidnapped.
Next, how old is Yara? For someone who was preparing to go to college, I would say that she's 18. How is she ordering alcohol in restaurants and how is she going to run a non-profit with no experience in running a business? The way their father runs their life makes me assume that they certainly weren't allowed to sit in meetings so how is this going to work? And how can she have a non-profit incorporated in the US without being a citizen?
Also, the most annoying part of this was Aurora's supposed innocence to the point that she was a door mat for most of the book and didn't speak up. I get that she kept quiet and agreed with the marriage not to get her father angry, but the fact that she didn't talk to Landon in the beginning. It's like sweetie, he's being nice so use this time to get to know him because it seems like divorce was a no for both of them. When his father sexually harassed her, she said nothing. She finds out he's a drug dealer and she knows what that means and instead of staying in the car when he had to make a stop she enters the trap house anyway?!? That's just dumb as hell. In the beginning of their falling for each other Landon basically gets her to agree to be faithful without doing the same and she said nothing. She's having all sorts of unprotected sex, letting him shoot up the club (he did ask for permission) and then she has a bit of a crisis when she finds out she was pregnant. What did she think was going to happen?
To be honest, I thought Landon's father would take her and not the grandson. I mean there she was, opening doors for that fool when she was in the house alone and he's said sexually explicit things to her. I honestly thought that she would have been the mark and not the grandson.
Also, their english (and understanding of ebonics) was quite good for young women who live in a country where English wasn't an official or alternate language. Especially since they never left said country to have had a chance to practice it.

I enjoyed this book. It was a cute read and kept me engaged. I do however have some mixed feelings.
Let me first say that at absolutely no point in this book was it believable that Aurora and Yara were African princesses who came from royalty. Their dad (The King) shipped them off to America for an arranged marriage on a commercial flight (when later on we learn that he had a jet🙃). When they got to America they had no guards/security. They had no driver they were taking Ubers where they wanted to go. Like come on now. Be FR.
I don’t understand why Aurora had to have an arranged marriage with an American because Yara was disobedient and promiscuous. Aurora was basically punished for Yara’s crimes. While Yara got to travel with her to America and basically live her best carefree life with no punishment/consequences. Granted it obviously worked out for Aurora in the end but the story would’ve made more sense if it was Yara being married off.
Also why would an African oil tycoon King be in business with a Low level American drug dealer for him to even be able to be owing him. That literally made no sense🥴. And why is a king conducting business in an old warehouse?? Actually why is the king even that involved? He should have a middle man.
Another thing, why do authors insist on making the baby mamas “bitter” and still wanting the BD? Rachel not liking and having an issue with Aurora literally did absolutely nothing for the plot. It didn’t help move the story along or anything. Especially because the “issue” didn’t even arise until like 75/80% into the book. And then she still went and made them be bestfriends by the end of the book. Man listen it’s ok for baby mamas and baby daddies to have cordial co-parenting relationships in these books without either still wanting more. It’s ok for both parties to move on man especially because she stated that Rachel and Landon were best-friends so the short lived “bitter” storyline was so unnecessary🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️.
Now with that out the way I absolutely LOVED Landon. From the jump he was so sweet, patient and attentive to Aurora. He immediately let her know that he had her back and that he was all in and I loved that for Aurora. She was timid and green when it came to relationships and sex/intimacy but Landon really helped her navigate that change in her life. It was beautiful to see. I also think Yara and Damion was a good little comedic relief to the book.
I wish we got more of the girls African background and culture but all in all this a pretty decent read.

African Princess Aurora life changes when her older sister Yara arranged marriage falls through due to her behavior so Aurora is forced to take her place and is sent to America to marry Landon to help secure their families future. Landon’s father is in a messed up position when he can’t pay his debt to the African King so to make things right he arranges a marriage for his son Landon to the African Kings daughter. Not knowing what to really expect Landon and Aurora have totally different ideas on how they will get through their situation but the chemistry between the two of them can only be denied for so long until they can no longer fight the growing feels they have for each other.
I'm a fan of the arranged marriage trope, although I don't read a lot of this trope whenever I do see it I jump right on it and Shanel did not disappoint. I loved me some Landon, he was committed to his situation from the beginning. I liked that Shanel showed us all sides of Landon, he was a straight goon in the streets but at the same time he was patient, caring, and respectful. The way he cared for Aurora from the very beginning was admirable. Landon never crossed any lines with Aurora until she gave him permission to, and when she did Landon opened Aurora’s eyes to a different type of marriage that she never knew existed. Aurora was so sweet and innocent but when she needed to she spoke up for herself and wasn’t backing down for anyone.
I enjoyed the progression of their relationship and how determined Landon was to make Aurora happy. Im a sucker for kids in a romance and Bryson was such a cutie pie with a big personality that bought a lot to the story. I also enjoyed the secondary romance with Damion and Yara, they had me cracking up with their antics. I honestly would have enjoyed a solo book about them, they were a whole mess.
The only thing missing from this read for me was the African culture. I wish there would have been more of Aurora and Yara’s culture added into the book, while it didn't take away from the story it's what would have taken my rating from a 4.5 to a 5. This was my first Shanel read and it definitely wont be my last. If you are a fan of the arranged marriage trope I highly suggest this read.
I’m always down to read an arranged marriage romance so it’s no surprise “His Peace Her Storm” ended up on my TBR . However, this story left me confused with mixed feelings. I will say this, I like the fact that Landon was committed from the beginning. The way he treats Aurora with respect and the patience he exhibited towards her is admirable. They really had a friendship before they made the move to lovers. I also liked the friendship dynamics that Landon and Damien had with Aurora and Yara. The majority of my mixed feelings came from the storyline. I’m having a hard time believing that an African King bargained his daughter’s life with American drug dealers. I understand being embarrassed by having unwed daughters, but sending her to America due to flawed business dealings has me giving MAJOR side- eye. Next, the marriage wasn’t even meant for Aurora. Her sister Yara got caught in a compromising situation and Aurora was forced to step in and take her place. The thing is, Yara is also sent to Florida. This is where most of my confusion came in. Why didn’t Yara just marry Landon if the king was so embarrassed by her behavior? I mean, she left for Florida too right? It just makes no sense that Aurora had to make the sacrifice while Yara is living her best life, damn the consequences. Also, I expected to get a better glimpse of Aurora’s culture. All I know is that sis could cook, keep a good house and lay out briefs with socks. I know there is more of her culture to offer outside of her being a homemaker. Plus, I feel Yara and Damien’s relationship overshadowed the main couple. While they are entertaining and exciting, I felt the time spent on their situationship could’ve been used to give us more details about Landon’s situation with his father. Their antics could’ve been saved for their own story and I would definitely read that. Overall, this isn’t my favorite story from Shanel. The storyline is unrealistic, not fully developed and came with unnecessary drama. I also expected this story to carry a different tone based off the blurb. Even though this book is a definite miss for me, I will continue to support the author moving forward.
His Peace Her Storm was a captivating story, a modern arranged story that had me reading every chance I could. I loved the way that the author allowed readers to see all sides of Landon; the sweet romantic side and the menace that didn't take any mess. I loved that. I was surprised wit Aurora's character; she was sweet and timid but when she stood up to Rachel I was like, "yesss!" She earned my respect. The innocence between the two characters was a nice touch. And when they realized they were in love, it brought out all the feels!! I liked what the author brought to the story with the co-characters, Yara, Damian, Landon's dad, etc. It was a good contrast and kept the story flowing. Bryson was too cute, as well.
This is a well written story. It is well detailed and provided just enough sweet love and had it's fair share of drama that I welcomed. Aurora was really the peace that Landon needed. Great job on this one!!
This was really good. Aurora was forced to leave her country and come to America to marry Landon. It wasn’t clear how Landon’s father ended up indebted to Aurora’s father. Landon’s father was a pos and he deserved what he got, simple.
I loved the development of Landon and Aurora’s relationship. Two strangers thrown into a marriage of inconvenience or so they thought. Feelings started to change and a beautiful love blossomed. I absolutely loved how Landon was with Aurora.
Damion was a whole fool omg he didn’t care what he said and who he said it to. I loved Yara for him and how she let him be him and just went along for the ride. Had my boy falling in love 😍
I love how everyone came together in the end and realized that the family you create is what’s most important. I hate to see them go 🥹
Even though it was unorthodox the way that Aurora and Landon met, they were made for each other. Even though he didn't want to be in the situation that he was in, he did not take it out on Aurora and handled her with care. Damion was rude and disrespectful but he used that to hide his true feelings and I am glad it worked out for him and Yara. Landon's dad deserved what he got and should have suffered. Glad that Rachel let her ill feelings go and moved on. Happy to see that they all were able to come together and be a blended family.
Aurora and Landon came together in an undesirable way but things turned out better than either one of them could have imagined. Damian and Yara were a crazy yet perfect pair, heavy on the wild and crazy, especially Damian. He nor Landon were pushovers in the streets and not even a King could intimidate them. I thought Rachel was going to be a bigger issue, but I was happy to see her get some happiness. Landon's father doesn't even deserve words he was a base and despicable excuse of a human. Love may not have been in the plans but it won in the end.
I really enjoyed this book, this is my first time reading from Shanel. It want be the last. I love Landon and Aurora they were a match made in heaven. I’m glad they figured it out. My favorite person was damion… he was a fool and yara loved every minute of him. I’m glad Rachel came to her senses and found love. Landon did the right thing by having his dad dealt with he was so mean and low down and he deserved what happened to him. I’m glad everyone got there happily ever after.
This book was recommended in a group from Facebook and I'm so glad I decided to read it. It was so good! Landon and Aurora just made your heart smile. I loved how they connected and got to know each other to end up falling in love. Damien had more cracking up from the first time he graced the page! His butt was rude as ish and didn't care what came out of his mouth. I was so glad he had to finally admit his feelings for Yara because he denied it til he couldn't. I really enjoyed this, so much so that I'm going to look up Shanel's work.
What I enjoyed most was the chemistry between Landon and Aurora. It took them a minute but I love the fact that once they committed to each other they didn’t look back. It was very refreshing to see that they never lied to each other and didn’t keep secrets from each other. It truly made for a solid foundation. Now Damion on the other hand was too much. He was rude and disrespectful from day 1. I know that he was supposed to provide the comedic relief but his attitude ruined that. Anyway, it was worth the money and time.
Very well written arranged marriage romance with a little urban twist to it. The story is about Aurora, a young woman from Mozambique who is told she is to marry the son of an American man her father is in business with. Landon is your typical young “entrepreneur” with a baby mama, rowdy friends, and crazy family members. The two are forced into a marriage neither want but eventually accept and make the best of the situation. It’s good and juicy with bits of drama to keep you entertained. Loved Yara and Damion, those two could have had their own epilogue!
Omg the love jumped off the pages. Damien had me dying the entire book. He didn’t play bout Yara after he talked all that noise. Landon my god. What mature sweetheart. Didn’t play any games and double back with his bm. I actually liked Rachel the whole book. Nothing is wrong with her having caught feelings for Landon esp since he treated her so sweet. And without her meeting Aurora I didn’t blame her for flipping out. That is a double standard so he should’ve let them meet first.
I really enjoyed this book it had me neglecting a few things so I hated I had to put it down for a few hours. It's crazy when your in an arrange marriage and you meet before you get married and don't know it until that day comes. I loved how everyone came together in the end after the kidnapping. That made some people grow up and realize how short life is. Shanel is an amazing author and her books are pen game everytime
I usually read books so fast but I slowed down on this one. Landon was such a thorough guy to his friends, and family. He treated his BM with so much respect while at the same time didn’t take no mess. Damian was hilarious. Rory was so sweet and docile. She knew how to make a man feel like royalty. Yara was wild and the perfect match for Dame. Nice long standalone♥️
I love arranged marriage books. Damion is hilarious 😆. Damion & Yara were definitely a match made. Landon took his vows seriously from the beginning. Landon did play about anyone disrespecting his wife no matter how they got together. I love a book where the BM can be cordial with the wife. I understood completely why Rach felt the way she did initially. There were a few errors throughout the book, but it didn’t take away the beauty of the story.
The way that Aurora and Landon came together was very unconventional but ended up turning into an epic love story. Yara and Damion were made for each other. Damion was a straight fool and Yara was the exact opposite of him but they worked, I definitely enjoyed this book and would recommend it to my reading group to check out!!
Wow I enjoyed reading this book. At first I was upset that Aurora father did her like that but it turned out to be the best thing for her. Landon showed her respect from the beginning and I loved that. Bry’s mom just had to get to know Aurora first and I’m glad she did. And Yara and Damien they were everything lol!! Loved their vibe. Great story
I loved Aurora and Yara siblingship. They made sure they looked out for each other. Landon and Damion is what a true friendship is made of. Landon father was a piece of work. Karma got him and I was glad. I would like to see their Uncle get a book so he can find someone special.
Enjoyed this read. Landon was everything. Was surprised by how attentive and patient he was. For someone who was against the arrangement, he seemed to get on board almost automatically. I can say that I didn't care for Damion's character. He was too much for no reason and corny. Also despised landon daddy. But overall would definitely recommend.
