Lost and Found #1

The Sweetest Bliss

Rate this book
I was drawn to Tessa Montgomery like static from our first conversation. She's become my person over the last six years- The one I play my songs to first, the one I call when I've had a bad day. I went on my first tour, living every dream I've ever had, but something is missing. I'm headed home in between tours, and I'm not leaving for the next tour alone. I'm coming to claim Tessa, And I don't care if I have to lie, steal, and cheat to do it.

I had always been Miss-Play-It-Safe. Then one lonely stupid night I did something impulsive and became a single Mom to my baby girl Josie. I'm living in Ethan's garage apartment when he comes back from his first tour acting strangely. I had thought I was losing him, but now he greets me with hungry kisses that leave me reeling, and heated glances that promise much more.
Ethan seems so determined to tear down every boundary we've set up the last six years, but I have Josie to think about. Would a man who's never had a girlfriend be willing to change his lifestyle for a woman and a child who wasn't his?

The Sweetest Bliss is a steamy single mom romance with a bookworm heroine and a singer/songwriter hero that has no issues crossing any boundary he has to. Please do not read this book if you are under the age of 18, or if you do not enjoy jealous, possessive, very manipulative men.

Stopped reading at the first chapter. H is already in love with the h and has been in love for a long time. (So all the tension is gone within a few paragraphs.) But not in love enough, apparently to prevent the h from having a baby with a ONS. I might come back to this but F2L is a hard sell for me. Why didn’t he bulldoze the h BEFORE she was knocked up by another man? That’s not a j/p alpha in my book. 🤷🏼‍♀️ So I’ll need someone to talk me down. I’m guessing it’s just not for me.

1.5? Maaaaaaaa gawwwwwddddd this books dragged. draaaaaaaaagggggggggggged.

Hmph. Where to start? The book starts off oddly with the h already with a 3 month old baby and they live in an apartment garage place of the H who wanted them close by. She got pregnant with her daughter after a ONS with another guy!!!!!! Meh. Later on, the book flashes back to when she dates other guys and he gets jealous and angry when the dude is talking in her ear and getting close to him. So he was THAT inlove with her back then but allowed her to step out? Plot hole, thy name is "BIG". That was so out of sync with how the author seemed to want to portray this character 🤔🤔

The rest of the book is just day after day of their regular life. The first 20% of the book is dedicated to her and the H decorating their house with furniture 😐😐😐 that's when I started rolling my eyes hard. she finishes school. With a 3/4 month old. And a single mom. With no help. Uh huh. Yall. He does.....rock star stuff. She goes on interviews to try to get a job. He does.....more rock star stuff. The baby thankfully and magically naps and sleeps without ever c0ckblocking this couple. Psssssst!!!! Thats how I knew this book was fiction. *Boop on the nose*

The author also wrote a sentence here and there about what people get excited over in romance books. Pushing c&m back in, breeding, swapping out birth control pills, sleeping with the c0ck in the vagggg during the night, marking with scruff, etc. I dunno.....yawn? 😂😂😂 she was throwing it all in there AND the kitchen sink aka getting the girl so drunk in Vegas and getting them married while she was too drunk to be cognizant of the fact. But its cool everyone, she was pretty ok with it 🤔 its been done before and it didn't really raise ma eyebrows or ma cl!t if you know what I'm saying 😂😂😂🤷 everything was just so ho hum! Is it just me? It might just be me 😂🙄

I finished, but it was so draggy. Yawn.

I loved the premise but the execution fell a little flat for me. I had some trouble connecting with the characters. I loved the ott jealous/protective hero but it bothered me that he waited years to make his move--that felt out of character for him. Overall, it was just okay for me but I'm clearly in the minority.

I often have trouble finding books that have alpha enough heroes for me . I am an addict and need them to be over the top jealous, possessive, and I even enjoy them being manipulative to get what they want. Ethan fit this bill and wouldn’t take no for an answer and I loved every second of it. This is a the story of a couple of best friends who fell in love and journeyed into stardom, experiencing it all together. The ups and the downs. This is a new author to me but I loved Tessa and Ethan so much I’m going to be devouring everything she writes in the future.

I love heroes who know what they want and go about getting it, no matter the obstacles. That being said, soooo many of these types of heroes come off as bulldozers who are all about what HE wants without regard to the heroine.

Ethan, the hero in this book, is a totally manipulative hero without coming off as a bulldozer. Does he mess with her apartment so that she is forced to stay with him in his space? Yes. Does he mess with her contraception because he wants a family with the heroine? Absolutely. Does he ply her with drink and then marry her? Yup. And yet it never feels as if the heroine is doing something against her wishes or will. He changes HIS environment so that it suits HER and Josie, her baby daughter. He remodels and furnishes his home with Tessa and Josie always in the forefront. As a musician on the rise, and who has been in love with the heroine for years, he is acutely aware and careful of how his career can impact both Tessa and Josie. His love for both of them was so evident. It absolutely helped that they had known each other and been great friends for years. They had a foundation to the relationship that seemed to evolve seamlessly.

Tessa, the heroine, is hard working, smart and kind despite having a less than wonderful childhood. Finishing up her degree while being a single parent to an infant has left her with little time and even less resources, which is how Ethan initially hooks her into living in an apartment attached to his house. I liked how she was determined to make it on her own, but wasn't overly stubborn. She was off balanced by the changing nature of her relationship with Ethan, but she didn't spend time trying to push him away.

I really enjoyed this relatively low angst book and REALLY appreciated that there wasn't any other women/groupie drama which seems to ALWAYS be present when the hero is a musician. It's hard to believe that this is a debut novel as the writing is smooth and assured. I will definitely be looking for more books from this author.

If you like over the top alphas that are constantly making your jaw drop with their antics, this book will definitely be your jam! Super sweet story that was well written and engaging. My only issue was that I felt like the pacing was off a bit. The relationship progression seemed super fast and all in up front, so it left me feeling like we were wading for quite a while. With that being said, I'll definitely be giving this author another try!

Excellent read, especially for a debut book from a new author 👏 👏 👏

I tend to avoid the musician trope (nothing against them, just not my typical read) but based on the description (and trigger warning) I knew I had to make an exception. And I am so glad I did because this book did not disappoint!

I'm a sucker for a manipulative jealous possessive Hero and The Sweetest Bliss more than delivers on it! Ethan is determined to make Tessa his and isn't afraid to fight a little dirty (but in a way that makes you love him even more). Talk about a man with a plan (swoon 😍). His tactics may be a little questionable (in the hottest of ways) but at the core of it, it's done in a way to give Tess what she truly wants...just at a much faster pace than she's ready for 😍😍. And lucky for Tessa (and us), that faster pace includes some very hot reminders of who she belongs to 🥵.

Tessa was an awesome heroine. She stood her ground when needed but didn't fight Ethan's just to fight him. As a new mom her hesitation felt real and authentic but never overdone and seeing Ethan claim her daughter as his own was just perfection! I loved seeing their story play out and can't wait to see what this author writes next.

Totally unsafe. Heroine knows the hero and that doesn’t stop her from spreading her legs and letting another man, the hero’s rival of all things, to rut and breed her. Not only does she slime around with another man, but she has his baby, as well. And this is the kind of putrid, slimy BS that is supposed to pass for romance nowadays. How about a big heaping helping of FUCK NO, along with a side of GTFOH!

Loved this one. The H, Ethan was jealous and possessive. TW- he tampers with the h's, Tessa, BC. It is good story and longer than most romance books, but the story flowed. This was a friends to lovers, single mom, rock star romance. A little suspense thrown in too. I enjoyed it and will read more from this author. I believe this is a debut novel.

I really can't believe that this is the author's first book. The writing is great and flows smoothly, despite some minor editing issues. This is a rock star romance between a single mom and her best friend from high school who is now a rock star. If you are a fan of a jealous, possessive, protective, manipulative and bulldozery alpha male who also manages to remain sweet and is all about the heroine, then this is the book for you! Once Ethan decides that Tessa is it for him, there's nothing that's going to stand in his way. What worked so well here was that Ethan really knows Tessa, so all his underhanded tactics ultimately were with her needs in mind. Here is a guy who truly wants to make the heroine's life better. Now, is he going to employ some questionable means to do it? You bet. This is a primarily relationship driven story which I enjoy. I will say that it dragged a bit in certain parts and I was bogged down by the minutiae of Tessa's life. Having said that, I still really enjoyed the book, the characters and the writing. The chemistry and steam were great. There was a bit of OM drama, but nothing major. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more books by this author!

I couldn’t resist this book, I tried. I usually avoid friends to lovers trope because I like determined, possessive heroes. That would be an apt descriptor for this hero.

Ethan & Tessa have been friends for years. There have been obstacles to him claiming his girl but once he’s cleared the path, he’s full steam ahead. He not above a bit of trickery to accomplish his goals. I was firmly impressed by the lengths he went to in order to have and keep Tessa by his side.

This is fairly low angst overall. All of the conflict in this book comes from Tessa trying to pump the brakes on Ethan’s steam roller, to no avail. It was thoroughly entertaining. I’m not even sure what she was fighting so hard against, this man was a dream boat. I feel like I should note that he doesn’t exactly tamper with her birth control it just keeps getting “lost” while they are on tour.

Cover 4/5

Story 4/5
Heat 3/5
Angst 1/5

No virgins
No manwhore h
No OW drama
Insignificant OM drama (uninvolved baby daddy)
Push away from h
No separation after beginning of story (he’d been touring before book begins)
No cheating
No scenes with others
No cliffhanger
HEA

Safety - I’d call this completely safe. Tessa is a single mom from a ONS, baby daddy is uninvolved and barely makes a blip in story.

This was a great story of best friends to lovers! Ethan and Tessa met in high school and quickly became best friends. They went through college together and Ethan became a famous music star while Tessa worked on getting her Master's degree and raising her baby daughter, Josie; all the while both were secretly in love with each other.

But now, Ethan is ready to show Tessa how much he loves her and wants to make her his...however he has to do it! Whether it takes manipulating things to get her to live with him and sleep in the same bed with him 😁 to changing out her birth control to make sure she gets pregnant with his baby, Ethan will do whatever it takes to make Tessa his woman...and his wife!!

This was a sweet, yet 🔥🔥🔥 story! The love that Ethan had for Tessa (and visa versa) was wonderful! And little Josie was precious! However, it was the lengths that Ethan would go to change their best friend status to married lovers was fantastic! From making sure her room above his garage was uninhabitable to not having any other beds set up in his new home, so that Tessa had nowhere else to sleep but with him, was so cute!

And the smexxy scenes between them...🥵🔥🌋!! The story was low angst (no OW or OM drama...Josie's dad was almost totally out of the picture), but high heat with an engaging story that I very much enjoyed reading! Definitely recommend this book and I look forward to the next couple's book in the series!

Deliciously unapologetic!

Oh Ethan, you bad bad boy. I love how he had no regrets or apologies for things he did. Tessa while sometimes appearing oblivious, knows what he is doing but she lets the snarky voices of her past hold her back from just giving into the man who would give her everything. I loved this book and I am definitely excited for the following books from this baby author.

I loved this book, I think Annelise is going to become one of my go to’s knowing I’m going to read a brilliant book.
Ethan is a Possessive Alpha who knows no boundaries, some might hate this, but I LOVED him!
Tessa and Ethan have a rollercoaster relationship that take you through an emotional journey, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the writing style, keeping the reader on edge and the reactions to Ethan’s Possessive ways will make you go crazy with frustration.
If you love Alpha, Possessive men and great storylines then pick this book up!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I waited a few months before deciding to finally buy this one, and I really, really wanted to love it more than I did! *sad face*

** possible spoilers **

But I just couldn't since there were a few things that I didn't like:
- first I don't understand why he waited so much time before going after her, since he mentioned he loved her since they met or close to that; considering how he behaved once they became a couple, his previous behavior is not within character. I want to say that maybe he was just too young and took him some time (years specifically) to grow up and truly accept his feelings;
- the spice was fine but rushed; maybe less spicy scenes but thoroughly written would have been a better idea;
- this was not quite a slow burn since the book starts with him coming back from his tour with the purpose of being with her, but everything until the end of the book moved so slowly (a lot of mundane activities were described that really didn't add anything to the plot or their romance; just filler and that annoyed me)
- the stalker moment; it was out of nowhere and just unnecessary;
- I hated the Vegas wedding ... there were other options to make her accept the quick wedding, like maybe TALKING with her! not getting her tipsy and basically tricking her; I think that after an honest discussion, she would have accepted this step on her own;

Things I liked
- I liked the MFC overall, I liked that she did not wait for him; yes, she has a baby after a ONS but whatever, she was young, mistakes happen and even though she suffered because of the baby daddy, in the end everything wrapped up happily for her and her daughter;
- I loved the fact that she wanted to finish her degree and that she worked so much to reach her dream. What bothered me was that she didn't end up working in her field in the end, after putting so much time and effort into finishing her degree
- I loved the relationship between him and her daughter; I loved that from the start, he saw and threatened her daughter like his own child
- No separation, yay!

I will continue with the second book though, sounds intriguing. From the reviews, it seems that it's better than this one.

Dnf for now.
I like this book but I’m holding this for now. I might come back to this one.

This is so sweet and so.... unrealistic. Unrealistic because the Hero was too good.

The hero is a musician. Kinda celebrity.
The heroine is a single mom living in the apartment above Hero’s garage. They were friends since college. But they never dated. And all of a sudden the hero is now attracted to her.
That is why Friends to Lovers trope is really not my jam.
Of course, he is celibate for a long time as he has finally decided that heroine is the one for him. He remodels his home so that it makes room for the heroine and her baby daughter. He renovates it thinking about her. All loaded with baby stuff and all.

He is totally manipulative. And I loved him. He makes things happen so that heroine is his.
He messes up with her apartment so that she is forced to stay with him in his house. He also messes with her contraception pills because he wants a family with the heroine.

The heroine on the other hand was not much likable. Firstly, I don’t like freeloader heroines. And she was a freeloader. She stays at his house and all, let him babysit her baby and then when he wants her, she is like no we shouldn’t do this and all. She was annoying.

I liked hero’s pursuance.
But somewhere I got bored. Mostly because of the heroine.
I will give this one another chance though.

❁ Friends to Lovers
❁ Single Mom
❁ Rockstar
❁ Jealous and Possessive Hero
❁ Birth Control Tampering

Ethan has been in love with Tessa but was waiting on the right time to start a relationship with her. He waited a little too long and Tessa now has a baby girl, Josie. Ethan is fine with it and now he can’t wait to take care of them both. Tessa takes a while to understand that Ethan wants her even though she has had a crush on him forever.
Ethan is absolutely obsessed with Tessa and Josie. Ethan makes me swoon because even though he manipulates things in order to have the future he wants, he is always considering what is best for his girls. Tessa does protest against some of his over the top jealous and possessive actions, but she also understands that is how he shows his love. My favorite part is that since Ethan and Tessa have been friends forever, they know how each other think. I love couples that are connected the way Ethan and Tessa are.
This book is perfect is you want to read a contemporary romance with an over the top jealous and possessive hero. Usually books with similar themes are dark romances, I enjoyed the changed.

I adored this story! It’s hard to believe that this is a debut novel for Annelise, but I will absolutely be keeping an eye out for more!

This book had a mix of a few of my favorite tropes [jealous, possessive, manipulative Hero - spitfire heroine with a mind of her own] and when I saw the lengths Ethan would go to to make sure his girl knew she was his… 😮‍💨

Ethan knew how to play his cards. He waited, calculated, and made sure everything worked to his advantage. He was unique with his methods and I loved his absolute devotion to Tessa and Josie.

Tessa is a single mom, working through college and trying to ignore her desires for her best friend turned music superstar- Ethan. She genuinely cracked me up at times with her sassy remarks and was such a relatable character.

There was plenty of 🔥spice🔥 in this book, but one scene in particular earned a few extra 🌶s 🥵.

I’d call this book a great balance between heat and sweet, and can’t wait to see what the author does next!

This book was everything and more than I hoped it would be.

When I first started reading this book I was thinking that Ethan seemed a little too calm for me especially after I read a trigger warning about the book (It's what made me run to get the book in the first place lol). Then Ethan started to really show himself and I had to fan myself and open a window.

Ethan was sweet, alpha, possessive, hot, and all the things you want in a book boyfriend. I really loved watching his character develop through out the story. He was absolutely devious also in the way he went about getting Tessa which really had me snorting like miss piggy while reading.

Tessa was a character that I had to get used to. I liked Tessa because she seemed very straight forward but, Tessa was kind of getting on my nerves in the beginning of the book. I get she had hang ups and baggage but I was like come on when are you going to let Ethan get you in the sheets again (what can I say.... I like a little smut with my romance lol). I was happy to see that Tessa finally calmed down and let herself go with the flow and get her HEA.

This story is long and I loved every bit of it while seeing Tessa and Ethan get their HEA. I am excited to read more in this series!

This was a wonderful read! We have a nice and thoughtful alpha H male, fame in a rock and roll spotlight, a nice, smart and supportive h, steam, and it’s all wrapped up in a lovely storyline.

Ethan knew what he wanted, and took the steps he felt needed to be taken, to get and keep it. I mean, he definitely made some super questionable decisions to get said thing he wanted, but in the context of this story and with Tessa and Ethan’s history, it totally worked for me. And they have long and solid history of friendship and support.

I looked for more by this author and couldn’t find anything. But, if this is their first book, it sure as $hit not their first time writing. This book was solid all around. The editing, the storytelling, the character development and the writing. Again, this was a great read. I’ll definitely be looking for more from this author!

I cannot believe this was this author's first book! It was incredible! Ethan is not over the top possessive, he is more stealth obsessed with Tessa. Best friends for ages, he realized how deeply he loves her. He already had her living at his house in the garage apartment. He comes home from touring dead set on showing her how good they will be together. His fame as a musician is going to make things challenging but he is determined. Tessa has known her deep feelings for him for a little while but never thought he would feel anything but friendship for her. I loved how much time we spend with this couple. We get to see them navigate his fame, her baby Josie who he treats like his own, not to mention her past. He doesn't let anything stand in his way. I would dearly love another book about these two, they were such an amazing couple! Ten stars for Tessa and Ethan!

Without giving away too much details, This book was great! It was a fast burn, so I didn’t have to wait to get into 50%-60-% of the book to finally get into the spicy stuff. Ethan is awesome! I Loved him, his alpha antics and the way he cared for Tessa and josie! Tessa was great too. Loved how shes written, being a single parent and the struggles it can bring. I highly recommend reading this book. I’m hoping for more Ethan and Tessa in the future.

If this was a real life scenario the red flags would have been raised. However, in fiction it was sexy. Ethan was over the top but I loved how committed he was to having his family complete. I loved all the attention to raising a baby instead of just brushing over it.

Things felt rushed towards the end and I did wish that there was more closure with Josie's dad. However, it was still a solid book.

DNF at 32%. I didn't have any issues with any of the warnings about Ethan but I just didn't connect. The writing just felt forced to me. Not really sure but I just don't really want to keep going. I don't feel invested enough to care to finish.
