Patterson’s search continues in the gripping follow-up to Sister Where Are You.
Following the clues of her sister Julie’s disappearance to Dallas, newly reinstated FBI Special Agent Patterson Blake finds herself saddled with a rookie partner she feels can only get in her way. A cocky ex-cop who thinks he doesn’t need a babysitter. But that proves to be the least of her problems…
After discovering a witness who could hold the key to finding her sister, the case takes another dire turn. The woman goes missing before Patterson can meet with her.
Is there a connection to Julie’s case? Is someone trying to stop Patterson from uncovering the truth? There’s only one way to find out. She must locate the missing woman… and quickly… even though it means putting herself, and her new partner, in mortal danger.
A taut edge-of-your-seat crime thriller you'll want to keep reading.

TlDR: main character is a pitiful excuse for an FBI agent, a hot head who lets her emotions dictate her actions, can't hold on to her weapon, and walks right into obvious traps. The majority of these books so far have been filled with unnecessary filler content like outlining each and every meal the characters eat in a day and mundane tasks like showering in painstaking detail. This takes the place of any real substance for large portions of the book. The overall story premise is good, but execution is lacking and will make it difficult to finish the series
I just finished this book, the second in the series. I had some issues with the first book, primarily the main character. She is poorly written if they're intent was to have a strong independent female FBI agent. Instead she is a bumbling hot head who constantly puts herself and others in danger with her lack of foresight. Honestly I don't know any police force that would keep her on, let alone her making it through the FBI Academy and becoming an agent. She has no situational awareness and isn't particularly skilled in anything other than getting herself in crappy situations. Apart from that, the writing is not fantastic. You can skip several pages in a row and not miss anything related to the plot or anything interesting. You could actually do this all throughout book one and book two. There is frequently too much detail on Monday everyday things that don't really matter. These books spend more time giving you detailed information about every meal that the characters are eating during the day, detail about them showering like she got undress down to her underwear, she turned on the shower, she waited for the water to get warm, she took off her undergarments, she got in the shower, she washed her hair, she got out and dried off with a scratchy towel, she put on her sweatpants.. it's just so much needless detail. Just say she grabbed a shower and changed into her sweatpants. If you removed all the unnecessary filler content, these books would be much shorter. It seems to me that the authors do not know how to create enough substantial story content, so they fill it with nonsense in order to create a book that is decent and length. In my opinion it would have been better for them to write shorter books, maybe 250 pages each, with better story content and a better main character. Doing so would have made this a much more enjoyable series.
First, let me get my "old lady" gripes out of the way. Doesn't anyone have to do D.O.L. in school anymore? Proper sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation have gone out the window in the last ten or fifteen years and books are quickly moving from annoying to unreadable. Authors seem to think it's fine to capitalize just whatever and sneeze their commas onto the page. It takes one out of the story when the sentence has to be read twice to parse the intended meaning.
Second, this is ostensibly co-authored by an American and Brit, I believe? I'm not sure the American had much input as there were far too many British phrases for a book set in the US.
On to the story: it defies belief and logic that an agent of the FBI would behave in this manner and still be an agent of the FBI. She's also just plain rude and creates most of her own problems.
The books read more as episodes, but I suppose that's par for the course with a series like this. The problem with this lies in the near-constant recaps, as if the authors were not sure where the breaks would be. It's a lot of repetition. Will I keep reading? Yes, probably. I hate to not know an ending.
Sixteen years ago, Julie Blake disappeared, and the police dismissed her case as a runaway, ceasing their investigation.
Recently, Patterson Blake, Julie's sister, stumbled upon postcards that might have changed the course of the search. As an FBI agent on a "disciplinary break," Patterson merges this time with her accrued vacation days to embark on a quest to trace her sister's steps.
This is a police procedural mystery thriller that heavily focuses on the procedural aspect and the pursuit of leads derived from evidence and hypothetical scenarios. The investigation progresses slowly with occasional intense action. I am uncertain about my feelings towards the characters or if the author has successfully generated any dynamic between them.
The incentive that compels me to continue with this series is the mystery of what happened to Julie Blake. This becomes the cliffhanger, as the next clue in her trail is only revealed at the book's end, prompting readers to continue to the next installment to follow where the trail leads.
In this next installment of the Patterson Blake series, Special Agent Blake heads to Dallas as her next stop following her sister Julie who disappeared sixteen years ago. Coming off a win in Oklahoma, Blake is on a high, that is until she meets SAC Harris. She is teamed up with a rookie agent which does not make her happy. Blake is up against a lot of frustration in this book, and you can feel it through the writing. The character development is great and the new characters seamlessly fit right in. A.M. Strong is building a great series with this storyline and I hope there will be many more to come! Highly recommend! I read this as an ARC and this is my honest opinion
This is the 2nd book in the Patterson Blake Mysteries!!! Awesome read!!!
Sixteen years ago, her sister Julie disappeared while on a cross-country road trip with her friend.
Now we have FB Patterson Blake trying to find out what happened to her sister and why. Patterson is on a new trail of her sister but inbetween, she comes across a mad man and she ends up ....... you have to read it to find out.
Absolutely love this series I struggle to put my kindle down the book flows flawlessly from one page to the next.
Always excited to hear when a new book comes out by this author. Totally addictive series.
I would not have said it was possible but book 2 of the Patterson Blake series is even better than book 1 and I'm about to do something I very seldom do. I'm going to pick up the next Patterson Blake novel and read it next. The two authors are wonderful as a team and their work is just as good as their individual books. I highly recommend them. Normally I take a break from a series and read books from some of the other series that I'm interested in. But not this time. So,I'm off on another adventure with Patterson Blake. What are YOU waiting for? Discover the world of Patterson Blake.
Patterson is still on the hunt for clues that will lead her to the reunion with her sister. She gets sidelined by a case that coincides with her chasing information about her sister’s whereabouts. A girl who may have traveled with her sister becomes case the police ignored. Patterson, in her usual style, is like a dog with a bone, she never gives up. She may be a little rough around the edges, but she is a really good agent. As she gets a little closer to receiving information about her sister, a wrench is thrown in her leaving. The main boss decides he needs her tenacity in helping solve another case. So now we must wait to see how Patterson wolves this new case.
Patterson, while continuing to find out what has happened to her sister, is attached to another division and partnered with a Rookie which she is not happy about, but has no choice. She prefers to work alone and in doing so, puts herself in unnecessary danger. Just when she feels she is getting somewhere, she is back to square one. Patterson gets more than she bargained for and solves other cases during her personal mission. A page turner which escalates with unexpected closure, but not for her sister, Julie. I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily leave an honest review.
Patterson Blake FBI is coursed to work with the Dallas office and given a partner
Patterson Blake FBI is given help by the Dallas office and a partner, a newby named Marcus Bauer wether she wanted him or not. They are given an office and told to go ahead and dig into the old files and see what happens when hunting for Julie. Of course the worms crawled out and Patterson almost gets killed, several times. Great story she isn’t a good team player but is learning. Actually needs seven stars
They could have skipped this story in this series. What she learns about her sister took up less than two pages. And the murderer she catches this time is pretty darn boring.
Both of these book have too many words considering the amount of action in them. Things we care nothing about are described in too much detail. I did some major skimming to get through this.
I'm going to try the next book, but if it isn't better, I'm going to be done with both authors.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Patterson Blake, special agent with the FBI, is a danger to herself. She solves cases but she always gets badly injured while doing so. I really don't know how much more her body can take. It's a good thing all agents don't run into as much trouble as Agent Blake. In tracking what happened to her sister sixteen years ago it looks as if her father is going to lose his last daughter.
While Patterson is on the hunt for her long lost sister she becomes involved in the disappearance of a potential witness. It leads her not to her sister but to another depraved killer.
This was a decent read. Not Kern on Patterson. She is an arrogant know it all and the romantic relationship with her boss is off putting. The new partner is okay if not especially memorable. Patterson bubbles into solutions as opposed to actually solving cases.
This book not as spellbinding as the start of this series. Too many characters to keep track of and author got in the weeds trying to tie the characters and different locations together. Also, weird dynamic with new partner. Just a few weeks between Patterson solving 2 big serial killer cases so I expect she will be FBI Director by the end of this book series.
Patterson Blake continues her quest to find her sister. Her search twists and turns in this absorbing adventure. As always this is a well written and easy to read. New characters are introduced seamlessly as the stoty unfolds. Yet another excellent adventure. Enjoyable abd well worth reading. I received an advance review copy of this book and leave this honest review voluntarily.
Patterson goes to Dallas on the trial of her sister. She is using the FBI sources to find her sister; in return she gets saddled with a newbie agent. This was NOT in her plans, but a deal is a deal. Does she find the answers she is seeking? I like the bantering between Blake and Bauer. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
New city , new clues and a partner who is forced on her, Patterson continues her search for her sister in this sequel to Sister Where Are You. A new murder mystery to keep us on our toes. Well written and a good second to what should be a great series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
Second in a great new series, this book leaves you wanting more. As Patterson Blake continues in her quest to find her long lost sister, Julie, she encounters more and more obstacles. Determined to solve the disappearance of her sister, sixteen years ago, the new FBI agent uses all of her sources to continue her work, even though at times it seems hopeless.
Exciting page Turner. I'm really enjoying this series, they are exciting and well paced. As a reader I want Patterson to find out about her sister almost as much as she wants to find her sister. I look forward to the next book.

Strong's second full length outing for FBI Special Agent Patterson Blake is another great thriller. The story is woven beautifully around the search for her missing sister Julie. A definite good read for fans of Patterson, Deaver and Kava.
Great fast moving story. FBI Patterson Blake is Looking for her sister who has been missing for 16 years. What she finds is sinister and fraught with injuries to herself and murder of others. Book held my interest with a good plot line, red herrings and eager to read the next book in the series.
A.M Strong and Sonya S argent have written a compelling story about what can happen while one agent tries to crack a 16 year old cold case. While following leads they keep finding not only clues but other killers. Read absolutely enthralling.
A good writing team. Easy story to get lost in with all the ups and downs. Yet it's just dumb luck that Patterson solves cold cases. The unintentional crime solver.
This series is a very well-written and edited story of an FBI Special Agent who, while on a personal quest to find her sister who disappeared 16 years ago, has a knack for finding serial killers.
What an awesome, exciting, thrilling story. I'm loving this Patterson lady, she's totally cool. Not necessarily that woman and girls are being abducted, that part upsets me greatly. But Patterson is so good at her job.
Blake has a way of finding trouble. While looking for her sister, she uncovers another disappearance that she thinks is important. Her and Bauer, her partner, investigate and find out that there is a crime to figure out. Ready for the next installment!
Patterson is still looking for her sister. She gets a partner while in Dallas. She is still breaking rules and gets in a little trouble. Great characters and story. This writing team is spot on with thrillers.
Patterson irritated me a bit in this one but overall I enjoyed it! I was hoping for a bit more progress with her sister but assuming this will be the cadence until the last book. Overall a good quick story!
