His conquest was for his ancestors. His glory was within grasp. His failure has left all of his companions dead.
They say that the race of men took that which belonged to the dwarves. Turgon Highstone was taking it back. Claiming his family's right to lost cities across a region once overran by orc hordes, he amassed many loyal dwarves to fight by his side... but the war turned against him.
Suddenly finding himself locked in a dungeon, a stranger appears and provides a way out of captivity. Turgon wants revenge for his brothers and sisters-in-arms, but instead, he runs into an overbearing priest and a demonic specter haunting dwarven ruins.
The Fallen King is soon swept up in an even greater turmoil that may just make all the losses and failures actually mean something. But can he trust any of these new 'friends' when he is still a very much wanted dwarf?
I love all of the books in J.T Williams Dwemhar series and this was no exception. I’ll take elves and dwarves any day. The spunky priest-thief, Silra is a wonderful addition too. I’m giving this 4 stars only because there are quite a few grammatical errors. I’m anxious to start the next installment. Happy reading!
Dwarves. Ya can't... wait, uh, maybe ya can. Dwarves. Ya can't. Nope. I think ya can. Well, I can say they have a dastardly sense of humor. A fallen King finds he's not alone as he tries to pick up the pieces of his shattered empire. The trials and tribulations are both harsh and humorist. Like I said. "Dastardly sense of humor." Start new adventures as only Dwarves can.
Fallen King: A Progression Sword and Sorcery tale (Fallen Dwarf Book 1), my twenty-fourth read from author J.T. Williams. A 100-page short fantasy read, The first in his Fallen Dwarf series, well-written, entertaining & enjoyable. I'll read more from this author. I own 50 other books by this author & after reading this one they've just moved higher on my TBR list. Next on my J.T. Williams read, Lost Ancient: A Progression Sword and Sorcery Tale (Fallen Dwarf Book 2). “I received a Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
J.T. Williams has created a really good fantasy world with great characters. They are fleshed out really well and I found myself heavily invested in wanting them to live. I have read many of his books and I always get engrossed in the stories. I have also read books by other fantasy authors such as R.A. Salvatore, and in my opinion, J.T. is up there with the best of them. The story itself is really well written and hums along at a great pace, it is a real page turner that I didn't want to put down and I can't wait to read the next book.
First Book in The Fallen Dwarf series by J.T. Williams first book of his I have ever read or listened to. Turgon is a Dwarven King, and is fighting a war all on his own not sanctioned by the rest of the Dwarven Council. He along with a Priest/Thief and 2 HammerSong's of the Dwarves, fight their way along the sands, trying to right some wrongs along the way short and a quick read/listen. I believe there are 8 books published in this series and I am hoping I can find them all...so far I like the story and am looking forward to seeing the progression these characters achieve.
Turgon Highstone, is a dwarf warrior who sets out to reclaim lost cities once overrun by orc hordes. However, his conquest turns into a disaster, leaving him imprisoned and his companions dead. A mysterious stranger offers him a way out, but his journey soon leads him into even greater turmoil, involving an overbearing priest and a demonic specter haunting dwarven ruins. The book is a sword and sorcery tale, blending action, adventure, and fantasy elements.
This is off to a great start! An exciting and epic fantasy journey that’s exciting and gripping and full of turmoil. The characters are intriguing and interesting and the world building is incredible! The storyline draws you in and holds your attention and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more.
Great Characters! Action packed story about how Turgon becomes “fallen.” How he meets all the folks he will eventually be adventuring with. And, how they all receive their mission to save the realm. A great start to what should be a very entertaining series.
An exciting, gripping Fantasy story that will keep you intrigued. How will the King make it back and save the Kingdom. A perfect beginning to hopefully many more books.
