Dark Ink Tattoo #2

Blood at Dusk

Rate this book
Darkly Sexual...

“Blood at Dusk” continues Alexander’s “Dark Ink Tattoo” series, sharing the origin stories of both Jack and Angela. It’s gritty and darkly sexual, and Alexander’s intense writing makes the characters come alive.

Description
Jack wasn't always a vampire, and Angela wasn't always a werewolf -- Blood at Dusk tells the stories of how they first changed, and how they then met.
When a younger Jack runs into his high school flame at a strip club in Vegas and discovers she's in trouble, he's willing to do anything to save her -- even if it costs him his immortal soul. Whereas when a younger, more innocent Angela and her best friend attract the attention of Gray, the Pack's leader -- she thinks she wants to stay with Gray forever, until she learns the brutal truth about the Pack.

Blood at Dusk: Dark Ink Tattoo Book Two continues both Jack and Angela's stories, how they become creatures of the night, and the lengths they're now willing to go to survive, in the vein of an absolutely scorching Sons of Anarchy.

4.5 Stars for Blood at Dusk: Dark Ink Tattoo, Book 2 (audiobook) by Cassie Alexander read by Bunny Warren and Matthew Holland.

Now we know how Angela became a werewolf and how Jack became a Vampire. This book is made up of some stories how the two characters got their powers and came together. I’m looking forward to seeing what they get into next.

Blood at Dusk is the 2nd book in The Dark Ink Tattoo series and in this book we find out Angela & Jack's backstories. How they came to where they are now. Plenty of plot twists, a few tears, steam and lots of cracking content. It was great to get an insight into Angela and Jack. Even though I'm now saying to get back to the storyline from book 1. This series just keeps getting better and I'm loving reading it

I love how this story gave us the story of how Angela and Jack each came into the paranormal world. I loved the first book and was really excited to find out just how each character got to become the person that we saw in the first book. Like the first book, this book was super steamy and exciting. I fell in love with the characters even more. Can't wait for the next story to find out what happens to them when all their problems come to a head!

This was such a well written book that dives into the back stories of the characters from book 1. Doesn't sound good to you? Well, let me tell you that the characters, and how they became part of the paranormal world, will have you madly flipping pages, grabbing a cold drink and keeping the tissues near by ;) Emotional and steamy, it really has me looking forward to book 3 ;D

This is an intriguing story with getting the backstories of Jack and Angela and how they became what they are. The author does a great job building the story and paints her scenes in vivid detail. She brings drama and tons of steam in this interesting read. It's well written, moves fluidly and is a fantastic story.

This book is the storyline for how Jack became a vampire. What led to the change. What caused the change. The outcome of the change. Him holding onto humanity.
It also has a little bit on Angela in this story and some of the Pack as well.
The story answers so many questions of book 1 but it also leaves questions as well.

Book two in the Dark Ink Tattoo series, and it’s just as good as the first. It’s much heavier on Jack’s story than Angela’s, but Angela’s goes into more of a maintenance mode at a certain point, so it makes sense to focus more on Jack from that moment forward since he has more going on.

Still, the sex is still incredibly hot, the action is sky high, and I couldn’t get enough of the story. Alexander knows how to pack a punch and I’m here for it. PUNCH ME.

I actually really love Alexander’s werewolf lore in this story. I find it fascinating how she’s working within the patriarchal setup of the lore just when it comes to the creation of werewolves. Only men can pass it on to other men by bite (which has its homoerotic undertones to it, which I love), and women basically absorb the change through impregnation. That was actually kind of mind blowing to me. I’d call it really unique, but I haven’t read nearly enough werewolf lore to make that assertion, so I won’t. So basically, if a woman isn’t already born with the gene, the only way she can get it is from a man. Makes me wonder what f/f relationships look like in this particular world, but that’s beside the point. It just really cements the alpha control aspect of werewolves in a way I find truly mesmerizing and I want to see more of it!

Of course, that is the catalyst for Angela’s story, so I won’t go into more detail there so I don’t spoil it. But she has a hard day when she learns the Pack’s secrets, for sure.

When it comes to Jack, comparatively, he had a harder time in his transition into supernatural life. Both he and Angela had it done effectively against their will, whether through coercion or lack of informed consent, it was basically a form of rape. Only Jack’s sire didn’t get jailed the same way Angela’s did. He didn’t get that pass, and it made his life rather difficult for an extended period of time. Living on the run, fighting his new nature, all that fun stuff new vamps have to contend with, all to save someone who’s no longer in the picture anyway.

So much action and drama! Alexander delivers yet again with great characters, a great story, and enough sex to leave you winded at the end of it. I can’t wait to read book three!

Blood at Dusk is the second book in a great series Dark Ink Tattoo by Cassie Alexander. Blood at Dusk takes us back in time to give us more insight into who Jack and Angela are and how they were turned. Neither Jack nor Angela gave their consent to be turned.

I love the uniqueness of Blood at Dusk. I love how different becoming a vampire or werewolf is in Blood at Dusk.

I loved the many twists and turns that kept me glued to my seat as I made my way to the end of the book. I wanted to know everything it had to offer its reader. I couldn’t turn those pages fast enough as I needed to know how it would turn out.

I truly enjoyed reading the first book Blood of the Pack but I enjoyed book two Blood at Dusk even more because I learned more about Angela and Jack and their backstories and what made them who they became.

I love the world-building in the Dark Ink Tattoo series. I can’t wait to dive into the third book Blood by Midnight to see where their stories take us next.

I highly recommend Blood at Dusk to all vampire fans! But I would like to warn you that it has lots of sex scenes! Grab a copy of Blood at Dusk today!

4/5 ⭐️s

While this is book two in the Dark Ink Tattoo series, this book gave us Jack and Angela’s origin stories. I’m glad I didn’t read this first because knowing what I did about their futures really gave some of the moments in this book more emotional resonance.

I loved learning more about Jack and Angela’s past. Both have tragedy behind them, and it explains a lot about the choices they’re making in the present. Meeting Gray and Rosalie established more of our MCs motivations. And Jack meeting Paco was the highlight of the book for me! I love them, and I hope there’s some semblance of an HEA in their future (but I’m also heavily rooting for Jack and Angela, so Cassie’s got me torn here).

We still know less about Angela and her wolf than we do about Jack’s vampirism, but I imagine that will change since so much of the plot in Blood of the Pack is focused on the werewolf pack Angela is running from. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Spice: 4/5 🌶s

**TW: This book contains two separate depictions of rape: One to the FMC (not by the MMC) and one to the MMC (not by the FMC). Read safely, friends! ❤️

This is the second book in the Dark Ink Tattoo series. This book focuses on Jack and Angela's back stories. How they came to be supernatural and how they first met. I wasn't sure how I felt about a whole book about the past but this author pulled it of seamlessly. I'm usually not a fan of the MC being involved with other people during the story but this book kept me interested and I found myself not minding much. There is ffm and mm. If that's not your jam then this is not the book for you.
In the first book I didn't like Gray AT All but in this one I didn't mind him as much. My biggest problem was the relationship between Angela, Willa and Gray. I have zero issues with any kind of relationships usually (love who you love and get yours) but for some reason this dynamic just didn't work for me for this threesome. It felt a little forced maybe? I'm not going to lie, I think Angela jumped ship pretty quickly.
I was happy to see more into the relationship between Jack and Paco though. I'm glad he had someone to lean on. I'm looking forward to finding out where this story leads us next. I hope Jack and Angela come together soon!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "BLOOD AT DUSK"
I loved how you get the background on our characters as so interesting, enlightening, intriguing, exciting, entertaining, intense drama, lots of steamy scenes, twists that make for a very addicting read.
Angela & her BF Willa how they end up with Gray & his Pack, how Gray ends up in prison, what happens to Willa, Angela on the run, her opening her Dark Ink Tattoo Shop her son Rabbit, meeting Jack for the first time & hires him.
Jack & Thea a girl he new highschool ends up stripping at a strip club called Vermilion owned by a Vampire Rosalie who ends up turning Jack into a Vampire, how he goes it alone trying to stay alive p, his meeting Paco who becomes his friend, lover & learns who & what Jack really is.
I definitely recommend to get this extremely well written story I loved Jack & Angela's beginning.
I so can't wait to see where they end up in the next book "BLOOD BY MIDNIGHT"it can't come soon enough this is an Awesome Series you don't want to miss getting.

In book two of the series, we finally get the back stories of Jack and Angela, and how they came to be what they are.

The author has a way or pulling you into the story and really immersing you in the world. Despite the slow pacing, the story was still intriguing and kept me entertained. I loved getting to see Jack and Angela in this light, and get a better understanding of their stories.

Great follow up to Blood Of The Pack, but I think I’d wish I’d read this one first, since it created all the backstory for the first one. I liked hearing Angie & Jake’s meeting from both of their points of view. Reading this made me fully understand both characters so much more and I fell in love with them that much more!

After book one, if you had a question on Jack and how he became a vampire, then this is a 100% must read. It fills in a lot of whats and hows from book one. This shows a bit of Angela as well and how they both came to be what we read about in book one. Shows the struggles jack faced to keep that human part of himself. Drama, suspense, excitement are found in this page turner book.

This is the 2nd book in the Dark Ink Tattoo series. We take a step back in this book at get a lot of the back story of Jack and Angela.

I will admit I was a little surprised that so much focus was on backstory in the second book, but it kind of was fascinating to see how the characters were before they become “more”, after seeing them in their current forms.

I very much enjoy this author’s ability to layer story with spice and character development. I am very much looking forward to continuing this story.

I'm currently rereading this series, which is probably my favorite paranormal series. This book goes into Jack and Angela's origin stories. Instead of feeling like a throwaway, like some origin stories can, this is a really good story that increases how much you care about the characters.

I loved this book it goes back to Angela’s and Jack’s beginning. How Angela became a werewolf and Jack a vampire. This made me love Jack even more and understand why he’s such a alpha-hole now. I’m looking forward to book 3 in March and I might be persuaded to buy the paperbacks.

I was skeptical when I started reading this book because it was the backstory of how Jack and Angela ended up where they were in book one but I was hooked on this book right from the start! Jack’s life is thrown off course when his high school crush is taken. He tries to find her which leads him down a path he never could imagine. Angela and her best friend stumble into a dive bar which leads them to Gray and things they never pictured could actually be real. This book is steamy with M/F, M/M, and FMF scenes. There’s also heartbreak and drama throughout. This book makes me excited to return to Angela and Jack’s story from book one. I will say Jack is my favorite character.

I absolutely loved seeing more of Jack’s backstory and his early time with Paco… swoon and holy steam. Like, you’re gonna need some privacy! But also, so sweet.
I wish we would have gotten a bit more Angela, but damn! What we did get was fantastic! I can understand now even more how terrified of Gray she is. Seeing them fall in love and then how the scary reality set it was so emotional.

Ooof - this was good. Dark and heavy - but good. And then again really dark and heavy (like really!)

This book dives into the backstories of the FL & ML in the previous book (still not together) and it was as always - super engaging and interesting, the way it's built up keeps you just super engaged. I again still do think if you are looking for a pure dark romance book, this isn't really it - since there's a lot of plot going on, (which is really good), but just forewarning.

Warning there is some pretty FFM, FMF, MM - scenes. I do think they are freaking hot and liked reading Angela in those FMF/FFM scenes although when you look into the story context...you ache for Angela omg!!! I love how Cassie writes these scenes, but both our lead's backstories are pretty heavy...that I'm still wondering how those two are going to be together?

At the end of the book, I'm still left with that same question as the first of how they will be...but that's why I mean that in terms of romance I'm unsure. But in terms of an erotic plot filled story? It's so good. My only thing though is that I did feel this book was way harder to get used to POV. It's pretty apparent as to - who's POV (Angela or Jack) in terms of reading their backstory...but it got pretty confusing in terms of timeline and a bit of whiplash as a reader sometimes.

I am excited and wanting to read the next however t I do read this again as not a romance - but for the erotic scenes and just really interesting plot.

Holy hell! I am in love! The story is phenomenal. Jack stumbles upon his high school crush. When she goes missing, it triggers a series of events that fundamentally change Jacks life.

In a parallel story, Angie and her BFF Willa hook up with Gray, then fall in love and stay with him. This also starts a series of events that change both of their lives.

Lots of spice in this SERIES - MM, FF, FMF - but lots of story to go along with it.

Blood at Dusk was exactly what I needed. The back stories of Jack and Angie really explained a lot. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one because I want - no NEED even more of their story. Jack and Paco are hot but I really am hoping we get more of Jack and Angie. I know this is only a 3 book series so I’m excited to see how Cassie brings it all together.

This is book 2 in the series but is the origin stories for both Jack and Angela. Jack reconnects with a high school crush and finds himself trying to save her and sacrificing himself. Angela and her best friend Willa go to a bar looking for a guy Willa met, end up in a relationship with him and Angela manages to save herself but leaves with more than she bargained for. Both characters sexuality is a bit fluid and there is MM and FFM relationships throughout this book. Tons of steam and some action keep this book moving. I still don't know what the arcing plot of this series is going to be and hope to learn more in the next book.

I loved this second book! So many of the questions I had about why Jack and Angie act the way they do was explained. Especially for Jack, I was really confused about his vampire rules and thankfully this was resolved. Jack is easily becoming one of my favorite book boyfriends of all time.

This book has heart, steamy sex (did I mention Jack is a super hottie?) but also some trauma and grief that’s handled pretty well. More for Jack than Angela. I’m hoping the third installment gives us all the Angie feels.

Overall, I am still really hyped on this series. I’m definitely reading the whole thing. You should, too!

Too quick

Jack Jain a trip to LV for a tattoo convention when a night out at a strip club finds him getting reacquainted with a high school crush. Of course she is the sexy as sin stripper that looks even better all grown up. She slips Jack her address and then meet up for a day of fun between the sheets. Not a hint of paranormal in this one. Just when this was starting to get very good it was over.
