Cole tried to stay away from the sexy new neighbor but couldn’t. He had to save her. Twice. He was her protector and once they were bonded, there was nothing that could be done. The bond was for life. She went from enemy, to friend, to lover, to something more.
Beth I knew that life in York Town was going to be different, especially when the second morning I was there, my hot but rude neighbor banged on the wall because I didn’t catch the alarm in time. It went downhill from there. I was constantly throwing barbs his way, but a few stung when they were thrown back. Things changed when he saved my son. I saw him differently, and the rough façade fell away. What was left was a man that I quickly grew to love. But, the man wasn’t a man. Cole was something else, something dangerous, and I didn’t know what to do. I’d fallen for a monster, but it didn’t matter. I still wanted him. How messed up was that?
Cole I knew Beth was trouble from the start. She looked innocent and vulnerable, but it was all a guise. Deep down, I knew that Beth had the power to break me. Not only was she human, but she was one who needed a savior. I was never that way, never had been before. I stayed away from those kinds of situations. I knew better. With Beth though, it was different. I couldn’t say no to her when she looked at me with desire in her eyes. All I could do was act on it. When I knew that she was hurt and needed my help, I had to save her. Then, I had to fall in love, even though everything about it was wrong.
A human and a fire dragon, how could that work?
'Grumpy Dragon Next Door' is a full length Steamy Romance Story! HEA! STANDALONE! NO CHEATING! ADULTS ONLY!
This story takes you on an emotional journey- I laughed, cried and just smiled. Beth and Cole’s story kept me on the edge of my seat flipping the pages to see what happened next. I’m glad they worked out their secrets before booking up. I can’t wait for for the next installment!
Cole is a dragon shifter who works as a bouncer (even though he might actually be rich 🤷♀️) and a single mom running away from her crappy ex moves in next door. Apparently Cole was super rude to her when she first moved in and said her cookies were crap, and then bangs on her wall every morning when her alarm goes off. Later, we learn that he actually bangs on her wall so that she won't be late to work and he doesn't hate her. Which makes the cookie incident make no sense....but I'm going to let you in on a little secret....nothing in this story really makes any sense.
Honestly, after dragging myself through this thing, I'm 99% sure that it was at least partially written by AI. There's so many random things just thrown in here with no real purpose; the whole thing just meanders along with more and more stuff piled on with no explanation. Like, what's with Cole entering dreams? How did he know he could do it if he was orphaned and didn't know other dragons besides his one friend?
The writing is also very awkward. Sometimes the text switched between third and first person and back. There's a strange lack of contractions in the dialogue, which sounds so unnatural. And the whole thing is written in this strange telling versus showing style. Even in the dialogue. So the characters will be speaking to each other, and then in the middle of it there's a paragraph explaining what the character said instead of just having the character say it.
It ends up feeling like the summary of a story with a few lines of dialogue added in rather than an actual story.
Beth finds her neighbor Cole annoying but is surprised that when comes through for her and her son. The foundation of this story, is the classical neighbour love story. Beth, together with her son, moved in next door to grumpy Cole. Cole and Beth butt heads a lot, until one day where he turns out to be a lifesavior for her son. After that, they become friends and from friends to more.
The story itself was really sweet. But I would have loved more information in the end. Like, did the authorities ever find out what Cole did?

Beth is on the run from her abusive husband. Taking her son away, she settles in New Town. Beth gets along with everyone, except her grumpy neighbor, Cole. Love how this story develops and changes between these two. There are two stories happening here. Cole finding his true heritage and Beth realizing love is still for her. Great read.

Beth had to leave her abusive husband. He was dangerous to both her and to their son, Jesep. So she and her son moved away. She had to put up with her grumpy neighbor, Cole. But he got closer to Beth and Jesep and became their protector. But when Beth learned that he was a dragon shifter, would things change between them? Would she fear him? Or would they let love bring them together for their own HEA?
A well written story that held my interest throughout. Cole does not know who his parents where or even if his kind is alive, he meets Beth and her son Jesep he starts having feelings for them which is not allowed. I enjoyed seeing their story come together, and seeing what his friend Ashley finds out. The story was well worth reading. This is the first book in the Grumpy and Broken Shifters series. Beth and Cole's story is fast paced, steamy, dragon shifter /human paranormal romance. Cole is the loner, grumpy next-door neighbor to Beth and her son. Beth is on the run from an abusive ex. She's trying to give her son the best life she can. Cole is a dragon shifter but he really doesn't know much about his kind. Looking forward to more books in this series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Cole, Beth and her son, Jesep and does not let go. Cole, a dragon, has no interest in spending time with humans. However, something keeps pulling him toward his neighbors, Beth and Jesep.

This was such a good read. Had all the feels that I haven't felt in a while, because I'm just that cold! %-P The pacing of the story was good and just can't help but fall in love with their little family; and of course their HEA. On to the next! #HappyReading ♥

Grumpy Dragon Next Door (Grumpy nd Broken Shifters) by Alicia Banks. Cole is a Dragon shifter and he and his sister think they are the only ones. When he starts to call in love with his next door neighbour, Beth, he knows it is wrong. She is a human. Dragon and human, that can t work, surely?
Beth, on the run from an abusive husband. Cole living a life as a recluse and consequently very grumpy. But first impressions can be faulty as Beth discovers. Sexy, with a very happy everafter, romantic and suspenseful.
This is an excellent book to read. It contained some comical parts, drama, suspense, passion and some action throughout this book. You will enjoy reading about the characters also. Excellent reading and writing.
Cold is a dragon who was found abandoned as a baby. He meets Beth and her son and makes them his family. When he finds his original family, he needs to choose.
I hated my whole experience reading this. I love dual POV but flip flopping between first person and referring to the character themselves was just bad.
Also pregnancy trope galore which is a big old gross fest for me.
This is a good and heartwarming story. Even grumpy neighbors can be lifesavers ... loved the portrayal of Jessup as a smart, lovable, and well behaved young boy!
It’s not a badly written book it’s just not great. It is a little on the boring side and I did not feel any kind of connection between these characters. I was really hoping to love this one.
