Book 2 of the Dragon Tamer series. A fated mates, polyam urban fantasy romance
Yes, Naomi’s dragon lover knows how to make her body beg for more - in all his presentations. But what does an immortal kami know about simple mortal love and human needs? To make things worse, an old and forbidden flame has popped back into Naomi’s life, and now her heart is split in two.
Forget judgmental and bossy cousins, fire-spitting monster spiders or creepy bureaucrats from the Imperial bureau: Naomi is not going to let fate, family and duty dictate her life. Mr. Jerk and Cocky will need more than a glass of champagne and a skilled tongue to keep her by his side!
An avid reader of thrillers, science-fiction, horror and romance, I have been writing for nearly 25 years. Lila Mina is one of my pen names.
I am a firm believer in cross-genre literature. Life is too complex, too rich and surprising to limit stories to one genre only. I love blending genres to create powerful characters, emotional plots and exciting stories that hopefully will stay a long time with my readers. My stories feature multiracial couples and sometimes menage who come together, bound by love and passion, to fight against forces bent on taking them apart.
I live in Japan. The rich and beautiful traditions, the amazing nature and the long history of this country are a constant source of creative inspiration.
After more than two years of work, I will release the first book of my TEMPER saga in ebook and paperback in March 2019, and books 2 and 3 in May and July. I am actively looking for reviewers, so feel free to contact me to discuss about an eARC.
A highly explicit and sensual story with paranormal undertones, it is a tale of survival, resilience, personal growth, loyalty and unbreakable love between three unforgettable characters. It takes my readers along the transformative journey of self-discovery of Lana Martin.
FFM (also FFF) polyamorous urban fantasy romance set in Japan
With Japanese kami and yokai and als Greek gods!
While book one was FM, the novel did hint at FF and polyamory to come. I'm glad all of that was actually realised in book two! It was an emotionally gripping read with so much badass action!!
There were katanas, tantos, wakizashis, as well as hoblit spears and bronze shields! There was fighting magic and sex magic and genderfluid metamorphoses! All of that in Athens and Tokyo!
What book 1 lacked in relationship development, this book delivered two-fold: there is a lot of tension between the fated mates, dragon deity Ubiwami and the mortal woman Naomi. And none of those tensions are really related to supernatural stuff, it's all so relatable and realistic.
In short, I loved it! I am a bit crushed that book 3 is supposedly the final installment in the series, but if it's anything like this second book I am sure I will absolutely devour it.
--------------------
At the start of book 1 the heroine Naomi had a big unrequited (or was it?) crush on her hot weapon forensic specialist subordinate and long-time proof-reader, Anastasia.
Now that Naomi is back in Athens to probably quit her job as a Detective, will she pick Anastasia up and bring her home to Japan?
The best part of poly-amorous romance is that literally everyone can have their happily ever after together and no one gets left out except the baddies :D also it's not a weird harem dynamic but everyone loves everyone so that's great.
Oh, and sapphic representation, which we also had in book 1! There is way too little sapphic representation in the romance genre and media in general. What is usually put in as an afterthought or a footnote (side-eyeing all the bi heroines who ignore female characters but lust over every man in great detail) was boldly front and center in the very first chapter of book 1, so I assume we will be getting more women loving women in this series.
Okay, how can I tell you how much I enjoyed book two of the Dragon Tamer series without giving away too much? It seems impossible since its the little things I love so much!
I’ve already talked about the love I have for Lila Mina’s word-building in my review of How to Tame a Dragon, so I let’s skip ahead to the little tidbits I feel safe mentioning without them becoming a spoiler:
The dry humour! The pettiness! The absolute love that went into creating the minor characters and the feels they made me feel!
I’ve said it before, but I feel like it needs to be said again, especially since one could expect the relationship(s) in the Dragon Tamer and the Temper series to be somewhat… similar. But they’re really not, just like all main characters have their own voice – I really can’t wait for them all to hopefully cross paths and I can’t even decide on what constellation would be the most awesome! We’re treated to one meeting in this part of the series already and it has me on the edge of my seat for more.
Something that I really noticed and enjoyed is how well Lila Mina portrays conflict between characters in How to Love a Dragon. It would be so easy to paint a certain character as an asshole but instead, we’re shown how there are always – at least – two sides to the story.
I really have to tame (hah!) myself here because if I don’t, I give away too much.

I really hope Lila Mina finishes this series. With advertisement in the queer community, it could be very popular! It seems the author has stopped writing and her newsletter link doesn't work.
