Note that this was short for a book, but lasted about as long as a TV movie (just under 2 hours), but well worth it. This was an audible original and had a full cast including background noise, like restaurant noises, street noises, opening things, tripping and falling, and more. I definitely plan to listen to more like this one with a full cast. It was completely enjoyable and easy to listen to. I loved it.
This is paaaainful. It's only two hours long but I didn't last a quarter of that. All the side characters are shades of awful (the maître 'd, the wedding planner, the bar tender) and the situation/conflict is more contrived than a kindergarten play (bride lactose and glucose intolerant, groom deathly allergic to flowers, nana insists it has to be Catholic with a capital Cath). It blew through my ability to give it the premise and made me regret any other life choices that lead to giving this a shot.
One star. I like Audible's initiative with audio plays. But I have to admit they're more miss than hit.
SUPER short, not sure if I should even be counting it toward my reading goal. But I make the rules so whatever!!
I just love these full cast audible exclusive reads. It feels like listening to a hallmark movie or something. They’re cheesy and corny but still well done. Definitely very sweet. All of the characters did a wonderful job.
This felt forced. It's a short story, and the author tried to cram a full novel's worth of emotions in. This left a lot of things underdeveloped and lacking for me. The story idea is awesome, and I wish they had pushed for longer content. I still enjoyed listening to it, but wish it had been developed into a full novel instead. With more content I think everything would have felt more focused and natural.
It reads like a rom com movie script done in the style of an audio drama, with all of the sound effects. There is something completely nostalgic about listening of an audio drama with sound effects, because it reminds me of my parents telling me about radio dramas, before there was tv. It brings that back to life, an era I didn't get to experience, but now kind of do in the form of audiobooks like this.
This was full of those short dialogue takes, capturing the essence of the moment, and not the full scene you would normally get in a book.
It was a lot of fun, but not a lot of meat to it. Which I fully recognize sometimes you need books that are exactly like that. I know I did yesterday while I was listening.
I've just listened to a Hallmark movie:) It was cliche, but I knew I wouldn't get anything deep in 1h 43 min. But I needed something short, and full-cast was a plus. It was good enough to keep me entertained while I was doing chores.
Short and sweet, this delightful and brief romance pulls readers into the lives of Hanna and Eric, two strangers who try to make the best of a very bad situation.
Hanna has her heart broken when her fiancé breaks off their engagement shortly before their wedding. Stuck with a wedding that isn't refundable, she gifts it to another couple but ends up spending a lot of time with the bride's brother Eric as they fine tune the nuptials for the new couple.
I love the full cast with its radio play vibe - complete with background sounds - that pull readers into the story. That said, I wish they would have omitted the sounds of the characters eating. That's just oh-so-cringy.
Enjoyably predictable with a Hallmark vibe, this was a sweet romance that listeners can finish in a couple of hours, that has some humour and poignancy.
Very cute rom-com, well acted (great voice cast), entertaining vibes all the way through. Short, but didn't feel too rushed. A nice way to spend some free time rooting for two great couples & families on a rainy afternoon. Have been reading a lot of angst lately so this was a great palate cleanser.
Cute short performance, free on audible plus. It was all fun till the grand gesture, i thought that was a tad much. Still, though- fun and sweet listen.
“I don’t know if I want to get married, especially to the wrong person”
It didn’t start happy, but it ended that way. I like how it showed that even bad things can lead to something good in the end. It’s a fast-paced, sweet read, and I even got a bit emotional (my eyes teared up a little). There's not much character development or big twists, but it’s still enjoyable.
Hanna and Eric are so sweet, and their relationship feels natural and unforced, even though it is fast paced and almost like instant love. The new bride-to-be and groom-to-be are also adorable. Each character had a different actor, or the same actor used different voices, making it feel like a dialogue. It felt more like watching a movie or play rather than just listening to an audiobook. The background sounds also helped set the mood perfectly.
This was a cute fast paced romance! The audio effects on this were my favourite by far. I wish this were longer, it's hard to give it a higher rating because it's so short but worth a listen!
The set up for this novella was very unique (a jilted bride gives away her wedding to another couple!) and I really enjoyed the full cast recording and sound effects. Rachel Boston and Zachary Webber were wonderful and they sounded fantastic together. The story plays out very much like a movie and there are a few sadder moments, but overall this was a very sweet and quick listen.
CW: death of parent (past), grief, mentions of recurrence of cancer & chemotherapy treatment (secondary character)
The was a cute, quick listen - though not exactly what the synopsis says it is (yes, the heroine gives her wedding to another couple, but no - there’s no “am I falling for this guy because we’ve been hanging out these past two weeks?” and there’s not really any hint the hero and heroine are falling for each other except for some mild flirting and a dance together at the wedding). This was basically a meet-cute and that’s it.
Wow! I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would!
Look, I’m a tomboy and usually don’t enjoy chit-lit or books that are centered around weddings. (I don’t mind characters being married and having a wedding and happily ever after but books that center around weddings as a main plot point, I tend to avoid.) I picked this up because it was free and it would last me through my gym workout (yes, I am the person who does audiobooks while working out instead of music). I went into this expecting a cookie cutter, chick-lit short story, but it surprisingly wasn’t.
First off, the story starts off like many other chick-lit short stories, the bride’s fiancé dumps her right before the wedding, however, that is the only unoriginal thing about this story. Everything else was absolutely perfect, the writing, the cast performances and the plot twists and the ending. I won’t write a lengthy, or detailed review because the book is so short and I’d probably spoil it, but I will say this is worth your time to listen to. Is it a bit rushed in parts? Sure, but for a short listen it packs quite the punch.
Just see it this way: if a tomboy who hates chick-lit with weddings is recommending this, read it!
Was short and cute. Thoroughly enjoyed this short listen on audible. At first was taken aback since it was like listening to a play but once I got used to it, I loved the story and the characters.
Audible originals rom coms just might be the truest cure for the sads. Whenever I’m sick or sad or going through a tough time I pop on an Audible original and it seems to fix my mood. They are the chick flick rom com movie of audiobooks and this one was all I usually look for! Quick, but full of plot, fantastic audio and lots of laughter. This quick read has a lot of heart and a lot of humor so it’s the perfect easy afternoon read! Give it a listen if you like grumpyish & sunshine, happenstance romance, a non believer in love in fact finds love, insta friends to lovers, did we just become best friends without realizing it, giving yourself a second chance and quirky Dad joke maker meets guy who can do a fantastic Wookie call. Are these all real tropes? THEY ARE NOW!
