This is quite possibly the best book about cinematography out there. It has everything you want to read about and the latest (4th edition) is very well-updated. It is incredibly reader friendly with lots of contemporary examples and has non of the annoying “in order to understand cinematography, you have to speak the language of art” kind of pretentiousness in it. No, this one wants to teach, inform and demystify and it does a very fantastic job.
