Charlotte and Hugh
This story was deep, emotional, suspenseful, with twists and turns, spies, and secrets. That keeps you glued to the pages of this fascinating story. All this within a love story. A must read.

A Spy Worth Saving by Cheri Champagne is a sweet regency romance. It is Book 4 in her Seductive Spies series, each of which follows a spy in the Royal Secret Service - whose efforts are to oppose Napoleon Bonaparte's spies in England during the era.

This book follows Hugh Haddington, who has been captured by an enemy spy and endures a month of torture before being serendipitously rescued by a lady he refers to as his Angel.

The "Angel" turns out to be Charlotte Brexley, a widow and mother of two sons who lives on the neighboring land and occasionally rides into her neighbor's estate to take advantage of the unused orchard.

This is a very sweet, emotional, quick read. Charlotte nurses Hugh back to health in her home, and they develop a mutual attraction for one another which blooms into trust and romance. Her boys, Quintin, 7, and Maximus, 4, are absolutely adorable!!

This scene from Chapter 4 had me dying:
“I don’t remember him, and Max didn’t even meet him. Our papa died when Max was still in Mama’s stomach.”
Maximus reared back, aghast. “Did she eat me?”

I love how much Hugh respects Charlotte. I love that he asks for permission before the first time he kisses her. They have such an adorable dynamic. Charlotte has many trust issues from the lies and infidelity her husband subjected her to- But gradually, the two do find trust and love in one another <3

Apart from the sweet romance, there is also plenty of action. Hugh's captors retaliate by kidnapping Charlotte's sons, and so a great deal of the book is Charlotte and Hugh trying to track down her sons and bring them home safely.

As with the other books in this series, there are some wonderfully steamy love scenes. Cheri Champagne really knows how to write stories that make you root for the leads and get butterflies every time they start to catch feelings.

I recommend reading this book if you enjoy sweet regency romances, with a bit of spy action thrown in!

Trigger warnings: torture (off-page), violence.

Opinions expressed here are entirely my own fault!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I had no trouble following the story, which is mostly a beautifully and tastefully written ADULT love 💘 story. Hugh does his share of lying to keep his Angel 👼, Charlotte, safe. Now he must tell her all the danger he has put her in when her two boys are kidnapped by his nemesis.

The story ends with a lead in to the next book in the series.

Both of their lives will change is that good or bad?
Charlotte is one outstanding character when finding an unknown man in need of help does she turn her back on him no she does what she can to set him free and then nurse him back to health. I admired this character right from the start. Hugh turns out to be just as grand a character as Charlotte, but you will fall in love with the boys. This was a very good story, well written with a great ending that will lead you into another story set-up. I loved the twists in this one danger, drama, and a great outcome too. I am so happy I got the chance to read this book and I am very happy to recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is the fourth book in a series and probably should be read in order so that you know the history of some of the characters in the group of spies. It had a riveting plot with many facets: torture, widowhood, spies, escaping, kidnapping, wounds, family rejection. The heroine although raised wealthy has had to adapt to a more common life, but she has a lot of practical sense. The hero was orphaned with his brother and raised in a school sponsored by wealthy patrons. He is a spy who is captured and tortured until rescued by the heroine. It is one book that you may need to set aside a day to read as it is hard to put down, especially as two little boys are in danger.

Wow!! This story had my stomach in knots and tears on my cheeks. Honestly, how much can one man’s body take? Hugh, a spy for the Crown, was captured and tortured. Charlotte, a young widow with two small boys, stumbled across Hugh, rescued him, and nursed him back to health. And then the fun really begins. This story is built with lies, threats, bodily harm and emotional distress. Added to that is a burgeoning romance with some hot sexy interludes. I was held hostage from prologue to epilogue and just could not put it down. What a wild ride!

Steamy combo starts with scary torture spy part. Next, Charlotte cares for helpless invalid. When roles change, he regains health, he lies to "protect" her. Guys never ask first, do they? In fiction, of course.
Description spoils sons "kid" napped. Villain Lord H is "a mean one". #4 in series means many married couples, familiar names if reader starts at #1. I should.

The developing relationships between the main characters is heartwarming. Meanwhile, woe betide those who underestimate a mother’s protective instinct. I enjoyed this book a lot! As it’s part of a series, the rest of the books seem very promising!

This was another excellent entry in the Seductive Spies, I loved the time period that was used and the writing was so well done. The characters felt liked they belonged in this time period. I look forward to more in this series.
