Sorry, I have a problem with a Pedo. as the main attraction of any book. Already being murderous was enough, the pedo stuff is just next level. I can’t. Also, can the so-called 28 year old actually have the logic & reasoning of an actual grown ass adult who’s in charge of people’s lives. I’m so over the teeny-bopper reasoning with these so called adult women. Authors really need to start getting it together. Supposedly 30 but sounding 17. Ugh…
This story was really hard for me. I really started to like the characters, but there were way to many unresolved issues! So many different storylines going on at once that it felt kind of jumbled up for me. Maybe I'll go back and try them again eventually.
I really liked this series, I'm sad it has ended so quickly. My favorite character was Cyrus, and I think he really went through a lot of change which was refreshing. Finally he wasn't just some one-dimensional bad guy, but someone who was capable of change and I would love to find out what he is going to do next, now that his father is gone. It would make a good spinoff series I think. I didn't really like the main protagonist and her struggle between the two guys, but I think at the end she chose wisely. However, her indecisive nature was quite irritating by the end. Luckily, the sub-plots were also great, and I ended up liking Max and Ziggy as well. The world of the series reminded me of the world of Buffy the vampire slayer very much (the feeding face of vampires, the witches and werewolves, magic everywhere, staking and bringing people back from the dead, etc), but there were some new additions by the author, which was much appreciated.
I knew when I hit "not the hottest tamale [sic] in the enchilada" and had to put it down & walk away that I shouldn't have gone back.
Had I followed my gut, I'd have avoided the pedo-SA aspect. Because the only people who care about ephebophilia semantics are chomos, so no, showing him having sex just before he's betrayed by the annoying MC and subsequently raped doesn't make it okay.
I expected dark stuff with vampires, but this book turned me off in too many ways. I realized I kept talking myself into finishing, and that's not enjoyment. DNF PG 601
I’ve read this series 3 maybe 4 times since I first found it. I’ve always liked it and felt like it was a pretty great story. Even if Carrie can be insufferable at times. It’s still worth it.
