ARC review - Loner by @ashleyaquinn.writer - Sophie moves to be closer to her mum and her cousin who is getting married. Knox who is a friend of the groom comes to the wedding and there is an instant spark between them. Knox is a very intelligent man and past experiences have made a bit of a loner. Sophie has felt lonely for a long time after spending years in an abusive marriage. There doesn’t seem to be much point in them doing anything about their attraction as Knox is leaving soon, but Sophie’s past rears it’s ugly head and Sophie and her little girl need help. Knox offers to let them come home with him where they will be safe but her ex husband still tries to make her life hell by threatening to go for custody of their daughter. Sophie and Knox agree to a fake marriage to make sure she can keep Olive, but things are far from fake. Things come to a head and Knox and Sophie need to fight to keep their new family together. Sophie is sweet, loving, talented and so much stronger than she gives herself credit for. Knox is strong, loyal, loving and just needed the love of the right people to show him what he was missing.

This is a first time read for me by this author and I can tell you it definitely won't be my last. It is the second book in the Pine Ridge series. Sophie has suffered through an abusive marriage and now all she wants is to get far away from her ex and start a new life. She decides to take her daughter Olive and move closer to her cousin and mom in Montana. While at her cousin's wedding, she meets Knox, who is a friend of the groom. They immediately connect and as they spend more time with each other, Knox becomes very protective of Sophie and Olive. When Sophie's ex shows up demanding custody of Olive, Knox doesn't hesitate to help and protect them. This was a wonderful story with well-developed characters and pulled my interest right from the start. I became completely engrossed in Sophie and Knox's story and kept rooting for them the whole time. So many emotions are displayed through this beautiful and heartwarming story, and I absolutely loved it. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read this book.

If you are looking for suspenseful slow burn romances then I would definitely check this series out!
Sofie needs a fresh start away from her ex husband so she moves to Montana to be closer to Daisy (her cousin) and her mother. Everyone is preparing for Daisys wedding to Asa in the coming week and preparing for all the guests staying at the ranch.
Knox shows up with his sister Alice and he takes an instant liking to Sofie. It confuses him a lot since he has never met a woman who he has taken such an instant liking too.
He is super good with Olive though and becomes protective of them within days of meeting them.
Sofie’s ex-husband is not a good man though and starts to cause her a lot of trouble since he got out of jail early.
I loved how quickly these two developed a friendship and Sofie realized she wasn’t alone in all of the drama. She actually had friends and began to find her place in life.
Knox is known to be a loner but he takes to Sofie and Olive so well. I definitely was not prepared for how this relationship turned out but it was the perfect ending for these two.

This is the 2nd book in the Pine Ridge series featuring Knox and Sofie's fake relationship/insta-connection story. Sofie has moved with her daughter Olive to be closer to her mother and cousin who is getting married. Knox is at the wedding because he's friends with the groom and even though he's highly intelligent his past has made him into a loner. Sofie has been lonely for quite some time after spending so many years in an abusive marriage. When the two meet the sparks fly you can feel their connection but Knox isn't going to do anything since he's going to be leaving soon. Then Sophie's ex shows his ugliness and Sophie and Olive need his help. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. I am loving this series. This second book is as good as the first one. Now that Sofie and her daughter Olive have moved to live near her mom and Daisy they are a welcome addition. Olive is such a fun character in this story. With Knox coming to town for the wedding and meeting Sofie, the attraction is instant. Add Olive into the mix and these three make for a fun read. With Sofie's ex trying to start trouble Knox comes up with away from all the drama. I really liked this one, once I started I couldn't put it down as I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. This is definitely worth your time reading. Ashley doesn't disappoint in this second book in the series!!

This is the second book in this series and is Knox and Sofie’s journey. Sofie has moved with her little girl to get a fresh start and is nearer to her mom and cousin. Know is a loner who likes to keep to himself. These two meets at a wedding, and the sparks fly between them, and when Sofie’s ex is released from prison, he wants custody of their daughter. With Sofie needing help with her abusive ex, they concoct a plan which will prevent him winning custody. This is a well written story which has emotions, romance, suspense, undeniable chemistry, and love, which all leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

Sofie and Knox's Story . . .

Sofie McAllister and her daughter, Olive, moved to live near her mom. Asa and Daisy, Sofie’s cousin, are getting married. Knox, the groom’s buddy, is also coming to town to attend the wedding. When he and Sofie meet, they both feel the attraction to each other.

Sofie's ex-husband Lance, released from jail early because of “overcrowding”, wants to make trouble for her, so Knox invites her and Olive to come home with him for safety. When the ex threatens to take her to court over custody of Olive, Sofie and Knox make a plan. Will things work out for them? Or will Sofie have to battle with Lance over custody of Olive?

Knox is attending a wedding, alone as usual, when he meets them. These three are perfect together. I loved how he interacted with them. Knox and Sophie are dealing with this unexpected attraction and knowing he is not there long. Trouble comes from her ex but Knox has her back. He is going to protect his future and these two are it. Sophie is starting over in Montana and as her cousin's wedding is getting closer she meets Knox a rancher who is instantly smitten with Sophie and her daughter Olive.

With the threat of her ex-husband looming Knox helps Sophie move in with him and the sparks fly between them and we meet characters from Broken Bow series and I will be reading that series.

With a slow burn romance this book has all the feelers and you will totally enjoy this book.

Wow I loved it. This was a well written story of friendship, family, love and a heart stopping kidnapping. The characters were so believable that I felt as if I was there with them watching as the story evolved showing us that family and friends mean everything during good and bad times. I had a very late night as I turned the pages anxious to find out how everything would turn out. I highly recommend reading Loner.

Knox and Sofia a couple who had an immediate attraction. Was a sweet story. But what was cringy and stored it being a 3⭐️ was these descriptions....
'Her climax broke again, sending her to what felt like a new plane of existence. One where only pleasure existed and she was nothing more than stardust, twinkling in the glow of the sun.'
Sigh.... this was just so 🙄🙄 apart from that I enjoyed!

I loved the second book of this series!

When loner Knox meets single mom Sofie, sparks fly. Both are hesitant to act on their feelings but problems from Sofie's past quickly have them changing their minds.

Lots of feels in this one! I loved Olive and seeing some friends from past books. I'm looking forward to the next in this series.

Great Read

This story plays with your heart strings. A single mom who wants a fresh start for her little girl. A man know as a loner who is misunderstood. The little girl wins him over first but there is something about her mom that holds his attention more than anyone ever could. I love a good suspense and this one has that too. Can’t wait to read the next on in this series.

Another to fall in love

This series just keeps getting better & better! I never want to put my device down! I read page after page and chapter after chapter leading from series to series!!! I don’t know what I will do when I reach the end of all her books. I can only pray Ashley Quinn can keep up with me or I might have some serious withdrawals!!!

It's really hard reading books by this author. She's one of the ones that thinks she needs a lot of unnecessary words. Like a play by play of all the steps of making chicken parm. And I mean EVERY step, with more than one chicken brreast lol Or getting a horse and every step of saddling them up. Not just one but multiple times. Or descriptions of eating and dressing.

Not sure where to begin. The characters were good, the pace flowed, the editing clean, and the spice just right. Yet, it didn't light a fire under me to finish it. I kept putting it down and coming back to it out of a feeling of commitment, not desire. Still, a good read.
