Fallen Saints MC #6

Tempting Bear

Rate this book

When I made a promise to a dying man, I didn’t expect to fall for his daughter. Lara’s too young, too tempting for her own good. Keeping my distance isn’t option. Lara’s old man left her in deep water and I’m her only way out. The only payment I demand is her. I’ve killed. I’ve stolen. I’ve broken more laws than I can count but Lara’s the only thing I truly want. Her father only told me to protect her. He never said I couldn’t keep her.

My father taught me to avoid men like Bear my entire life, but I’m not intimidated by his tattoos or his dark past. I shouldn’t want him. Bear’s uncouth, rough, and too old for me but I can’t help it. The more time we spend together, the more I want to become his. Can I uproot my entire life and give my heart to a man who lives and breathes violence?

Really wanted to like this author because I like her covers, I mean that one above is so cool! And I like her blurbs, but as the old saying goes, you can't judge a book by the cover, or its blurb, because her books are badly written, with no real story, and are just a mass of tediously unimportant, mundane, everyday boring actions and repetitive filler to slog through.

The majority of this book was them thinking about what they had to do that day, showering, getting ready etc followed by reading them doing those things, showering, getting ready, followed by them thinking or talking about what they'd done, showering, getting ready... It's mind numbingly boring!

You'll read a scene, like the one when she takes him to her apartment, then you're made to read it again because the author writes both characters immediately thinking about it. So you end up re-reading an already mundanely scene three times. It's tedious, irritating and a complete waste of the reader's time!

This example of their kiss, should be off-putting enough, "When she parted her mouth he slipped his tongue down her throat". Down her her throat? Really?Surely making her gag isn't hot? And it's also physically impossible, unless he had a lizard tongue, yuck! And the author actually describes this one, short sentence as heated. Sorry, but it's not heated by any stretch of the imagination.

She uses the character's name, Bear, constantly. This is one scene - "Bear put his hand through his hair. Bear heaved a heavy sigh and walked out of his room. Bear walked down the stairs into the bar. Bear decided he liked the bar like this when it was quiet. Bear was called, before Bear could answer a chair was pulled out. Bear did this, Bear that, Bear the other..." on and on, in one scene! Awful reading!

That should be enough to put you off but there are many more problems, including this, "Other girls dreamed of white princes who would carry them away on white steeds". Obviously she must mean handsome princes, or white knights, but she has mixed them up. And, "pressed his mouth to his", should have been "pressed his mouth to hers".

Which was followed by the over use of the character name, again,"Bear would have just one little taste, except Bear knew better".  It's awful! I read the book, I didn't listen to the audio, if there is one, so I don't mean the narrator's voice when I say this, I mean the author's writing voice, it's like those terrible presenters on kids TV programmes reading story-time to children.

The writing lacks detail. It doesn't set scenes, the whole point of reading is to be able to imagine what's happening but just can't with this writing. The grammar is terrible, sentences filled with superfluous words, words missing, it's s rife with wrong and missing punctuation, past and present tense are mixed in the same sentences, there are doube negatives. The list of problems goes on. But it short, it's just very boring, about norhing, and badly written.

GREAT!

I love all of the “Fallen Saints MC “ series. I cannot say enough about Winter Sloane and her art of capturing the readers mind in her stories, in Bear and Lara’s story, as I was reading their story it felt like I was watching their movie right in front of me. That is how all of this series felt to me. That makes a great writer. Hope to read more about this MC.

Tempting Bear is a great fast paced, age gap, insta love read. Bear and Lara's story comes in hot heavy. When he meets his best friends daughter she knocks him off his feet and there's no turning back. An excellent quick read.
