By the sea, she found her. And by the sea, she'll come to her.
Anna is a mopey college student who struggles to find things she genuinely enjoys outside of tentacle hentai. She expects a calm, quiet Thanksgiving break with her dad in their island lighthouse.
Echo is a tentacle mermaid living in her big sister's shadow. She plans to hunt Anna's dad to bring home for her family to finally score some Good Kid points. Until she spots Anna through a window, taking a moonlight bath. Now Echo has a lot of feelings and interesting new sensations to figure out.
Is a week of the best and weirdest sex of Anna's life enough to pull her from her rut? What happens to her tentacle mermaid girlfriend when she has to travel hundreds of miles away to go back to college? Is she bothered by Echo killing people in front of her, or is it kinda hot?
Will Echo finally make her family proud? Is she a foot girl? (Yes.) How will she cope with Anna leaving her? Are ten limbs enough to satisfy a woman?
Featuring fated mates, tentacles, DP, TP (etc...), foot stuff, innocent monster virgin, sexually repressed but very eager virgin, affectionate dynamics.

I’ve read books with a lot of feelings recently and this novella sounded like a good way to take a break and let my emotions settle. The author is new to me, I haven’t read erotica in a while, and certainly not a lot of sapphic monster erotica. Now that I have, I want more.
For Thanksgiving break, Anna goes home to her father’s island and lighthouse. A probably depressed introvert, she’s looking forward to a week of not sharing her room. Echo doesn’t enjoy hunting humans but as a tentacle mermaid, it’s her duty to do her part in feeding her clan. When she spies this specific human giving herself a couple of long-overdue orgasms, she finds she’d rather be the one giving Anna pleasure than kill her.
I was expecting smut and I got plenty of that. I mean, there’s a lot you can do with so many tentacles… What I didn’t expect was for Anna and Echo to be so lovely together. Also, kudos on the worldbuilding. Novellas are shortish, by definition, yet Piper manages to create a whole world and atmosphere with a few words here and there.
And by the Sea She Came to Me (I love this title) is a quick read, at once sweet and hot.
I received a copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
It sure is a choice to write a human MC as a golden haired pearly-skinned perfect virgin princess, and her monster girlfriend as a self-hating hypersexualised yet childlike, dark skinned, tight ringlet curly haired, violently murderous, monstrous Black girl, who lives only to pleasure and protect White Girl.
It's the second time with this author and I'm weirded out.
This genre is not for everyone. Personally I reald monster love stories as if it's science fiction and high fantasy since the level of creative construction cannot be far off.
I liked the starting of this one, the description level was okay.
Who knew mermaids were of different kinds, huh...learn sth new everyday for sure.
I was so pleasantly surprised that this had such good world building and considering it was a smutty erotica with between a human and a mermaid (octopus variant), it also held a wholesome love story which is impressive for so few words.
I get so bored when there’s no story to connect all the sexy times together but this one had plenty of both and it was honestly cute to watch them curiously discover each other emotionally as well as physically. Echo having that “fish out of water” (no pun intended) aspect to her character’s social interactions was particularly endearing.
Echo and Anna falling in love also took its time and still felt like a little journey which was well paced so while it’s a quick read it’s not really insta love.
This was a surprisingly great novella. I say surprising simply because of my expectations, which were a shallow and smutty monster novel. What I didn’t expect was for this to be so well written, detailed, or heartwarming. Of course, it was super spicy, and those bits delivered exactly as expected and desired.
The setting and main characters were very well described and detailed, to the point that you could easily visualize the scene. The worldbuilding was simple yet surprisingly well done and allowed the story to flow easily and make sense. These two characters were surprisingly sweet together (considering it was mostly all about sex) and the relationship development was very nice and well done.
Parts of the novella were rather shallow, rushed, or overly convenient, but that would be expected from a story that is smut-forward and novella length.
I don't know about you but I literally felt the sea breeze on my skin and smell the saltiness in the air when I was indulged in this novela. Even though, this is short, it doesn't feel rushed and I can feel the two mains' chemistry oozing out of every pages. Their chemistry isn't forced, and Anna and Echo are likable.
And gosh, you have to prepare an ice bucket to dump on yourself when reading this, cause it gets hotter!!! 🔥🔥🔥 And you might just find that you have a hidden fetish on sexy cecaelia!!!
Ohhh how to be Anna? Should I move near the sea? 🤣
Mains: Anna - Blonde and has cute freckles Echo - Tan skin, purple eyes and dark ringlets Fire level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've read all the novellas in the My Monster Girlfriend series so far, and I will admit I am addicted. Full on addict. No going back now. The way the author manages to put so much depth in her characters in such a short story that's all about the sex is inspirational. No character is exactly the same. You can get lost in the world descriptions as well. The author manages to build a world that is so big without having to show even 2% of it, and it only makes the story better. I'll need my next fix soon, and I am impatiently waiting.
3 stars. This was…bizarre. And some of the sex scenes made me nauseous. Which is saying a lot because I love some weird smut but good grief a lot of this felt icky to me. The foot scene ew. Besides that the writing was good and I liked our main characters Anna and Echo a lot. Anna is a human and Echo is a mermaid and they had great chemistry and despite it being really, really, smutty it is also a sweet romance. I didn’t absolutely love this but it was certainly interesting to say the least.
This story starts real slow. But boy does it end with a bang(no pun intended. ... lol). The first book was good. The second was better. Here's to hoping the third one is better still.
So take a chance, I bet you won't regret it !!! jrwii
"The human stands still for a long while. She has fair hair and skin. Echo has always thought the pale humans were very beautiful. Like pearls."
I have not heard a single normal black person wax poetic about the beauty of white people in particular, besides Uncle Ruckus, but again, not normal. Tired of authors being weird about race in their stories. Talk to more black people you weirdo.
I’ll give everything a chance. That being said, it wasn’t for me. Yes, it was insanely out there. That’s no problem, I love a wicked imagination. It was rushed and underdeveloped. I was left questioning what I read.
If you’re looking for a ton to wlw tentacle sex, with just enough plot to keep things going, then this is the perfect book for you.
Anna is a college student home for the holidays, struggling to keep herself occupied while her father is either sleeping or working in their lighthouse.
Echo is a tentacle mermaid (think Ursula, but not evil) looking for a man to lure into the waves so she can feed her family the meat. After tracking the man to his home, she finds more than she bargained for. Watching from the water, Echo spies a woman inside taking a bath. She finds herself oddly drawn to this beautiful woman.
What happens when woman meets monster?
As I mentioned above, there are many things like fingers, hands, tongues, tentacles, feet, and even a rock inside just about every orifice you could imagine. For reals, you think it, and this book most likely has it. I enjoyed the spicy scenes, which is a new one for me (because, ya know, tentacles). I wouldn’t have thought tentacle stuff was a kink of mine, but the way Naomi wrote the tentacle scenes, damn. Still not a kink of mine, but damn. Very well done. I am excited to read other books written by Naomi Piper, I’m actually planning on reading another in her collection of sapphic monster novellas. It’s about a cupid finding her own HEA.
Overall watching their relationship grow is cute, and I like that the author didn’t add any random conflict because they needed something to fill the page. The conflict at the end makes sense for the characters, and it all wraps up nicely.

Other than some questionable language regarding skin tone, this was a lot of fun. A lot of suspension of disbelief is necessary to read some of the smut scenes though.
