Much better flow as it goes back to the daily life situations with the usual comedic flair. Blessed with some great chapters with Tohru and Illulu nude/topless and I always enjoy those moments so much. The characters really seem to be fleshed out in all their facets of their personalities. Wonder how far this series will go as I feel like it’s beginning to slow down/near the end sort of; but I could be wrong.
Also gotta remember that Japan has vastly different perspectives on nudity than western morality/ideals. The nudity here is more natural depictions rather than lewd/pornographic.
God I hated this so much! I’ve had to rage-read this manga cause I wouldn’t have gotten through it otherwise. I hate the sexualization of the young characters and the constant nudity. I am so sad that this series has taken such a horrible turn because the first 7 or so volumes had so much promise and they’ve absolutely ruined it! I am going to put this volume away and never look at it again. So horrible :(
More of a 3.5 star rating; The episodic feel for this volume was both cute and slightly annoying; while I liked seeing the different little adventures, I more enjoy when they story has an ongoing arc. My chapters of this volume were when Tohru spends quality time with the Holy Sword, when Take and all of the younger girls spied on Azad and Georgie, Tohru getting into photography, the chapter where it was heavily implied that Takiya had feelings for Kobayashi. I’m curious to see what happens in the next volume and, am extremely curious to see if we’ll ever get more background information on Miss Kobayashi herself.
Returning back to slice of life content this volume actually feels very similar to the earliest chapters. The standout this time around is the Holy Sword becoming its own character. Several laugh out loud moments are to be found in this entry.
There is a lot of good moments in this volume. Between the spirit of the holy sword and Tohru bonding and hints of Azado having something of tragic backstory there is a lot to enjoy. There is a weird amount of Ilulu flirting Take compared to previous volumes but they are a cute enough ship but so its not annoying.
After all the drama and action of the last few volumes, it's nice to just chill with some good ol' slice of life type chapters in this latest offering. It's a return to a familiar formula for this manga and although it can be a tad repetitive in some ways- Tohru getting jelly over Takiya AGAIN (albeit she might have a good reason this time!) and Kanna teaching Tohru how to human for hugs and great snacks! - the compelling world building and the various likable madcap cast of characters continue to keep the stories entertaining and enjoyable.
