A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH ONE OF A VARIETY OF SOURCES. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

When this author writes a romantic suspense book, I always know I'm in for a treat and this one didn't disappoint! What I especially liked about this story was how realistic it all felt, how easy it was to see the events happening in a real world scenario.

The book starts out kind of slow and easy, on all fronts, but it ramped up quick on all fronts. I had remembered the glimpses of Nixon from his brother's previous book in another of the author's series, so it was really nice to learn more about him and see what made him tick. I loved Mallory as a heroine! She went out of her comfort zone on multiple occasions, she stood her ground and stood up for herself on a few occasions, making her a resilient compliment to Nixon! I also liked that we got a bit of follow up with Killian!

The story was enjoyable and engaging on all points, and I look forward to reading more of the series!

I was so happy to see that A.K. Evans is writing a series regarding the men from Harper Security Ops. She introduced us to Nixon and Mallory in the book Terrible Lie and I was happy that they got their own book and soon. Ms. Evans had me loving Nixon and Mallory together right from the start, well maybe Mallory but Nixon needed a little more time. This story was one that had me wanting to throw my device due to Nixon's stubbornness and wanting to take Mallory out for a drink. Ms. Evans gives us a story that is gripping and beautifully written. Her ability to get us hooked right from the start is one of the reasons that you love reading her books.

Mallory was introduced to us in Terrible Lie as Magnolia's best friend and Magnolia was involved with Killian, a member of the band My Violent Heart. In Tempted Mallory is worried because Magnolia is missing and the first place that she thinks of is Killian's maybe they made up. When she reaches out to him he tells her that he has not seen her. Could she be with one of the men that she sees with her escort job? When he realizes that Mallory is beyond herself with worry he calls Harper Security to get involved and this is where Mallory and Nixon meet they are attracted to each other. Mallory is attracted to Nix but will he agree to her no strings attached relationship? Can they both just have fun with no feeling getting in the way? What happens when Mallory is robbed? Can Nix get over his stubbornness and see that she is perfect for him? When danger presents its ugly head what will Nix do? Nix and Mallory's relationship was off to a slow start but when they finally got together was it full of spice and heat.

Ms. Evans never disappoints with her storylines, characters and how enjoyable and relatable her books are. I highly recommend picking up Tempted, however, I would suggest reading Terrible Lie first as you will get a better understanding of the relationships between Mallory, Magnolia and Killian. PSA you will want to set aside a good chunk of time to read both books as once you have started it will be impossible to put them down.
I am looking forward to the next installment in this series, Conceal, and what Ms. Evans has in store for us.

We're only two books in with the Harper Security Ops, and I AM ALL IN & CANNOT GET ENOUGH. Mallory is the best friend of Magnolia from Terrible Lie, and our hero, Nixon, is Killian's brother (Terrible Lie hero) which I loved to be honest, but I digress. Mallory meets Nixon when Magnolia was kidnapped & they feel a connection but there's one big problem, Nixon wants nothing to do with relationships so he doesn't treat her so great in the FWB situation. It hurts her terribly, but Mallory knew she deserved better so she called it off. Here's where it got complicated though, Mallory got robbed, and Nixon found out because he was with her brother (who got a job with Harper) & learned that she got robbed when said brother got the panicked call. All of a sudden things take a turn, but the danger to Mallory isn't over so will Nixon finally accept that he & Mallory are perfect for each other before it's too late? Once again A.K Evans gave us a book with all the heat, angst, fantastic supporting cast, and twists coming in hot so it was another perfect read in my eyes! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Nixon met Mallory when she needed Harper Security’s help to locate her missing friend. Although he may be attracted to her his past has ensured that he keeps his interactions with women casual, so he believes it is best to keep his distance.

Mallory has developed feelings for Nixon and is willing to accept whatever he is willing to offer. Their relationship takes a turn when she finds herself in danger and Nixon will be forced to face what she really means to him.

Intrigue, surprises and steam as Nixon and Mallory take us on a suspenseful and romantic journey that leaves us wanting more of this series.

My heart is happy. We initially met Nixon and Mallory in a Terrible Lie, from this author’s previous series. When Tempted hit my kindle, I could not get to it fast enough. Nixon is a frustrating character and had me grumbling about his stubbornness.

And then there is Mallory, I love her going for what she wants and saying what she feels. While the two are on different pages in life, the chemistry is undeniable. But, what starts with no strings attached becomes in knots soon after. Will they get them untangled?

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

What a story. Nixon and Mallory's story got me. My heart ached for Mallory when what she had hoped for did not come to realisation with Nixon. but I loved how she stands up for herself and that she knows she deserves better than what Nixon was giving her. Nixon was really frustrating then. And by the time Nixon regrets how he treats her only to have her robbed and then kidnapped. That's when he really thought he could lose her before she knows his real feelings for her.

I definitely enjoyed their story. I can't wait for Jagger's story next.

I finished this book in less than a day I couldn’t put it down!
Nixon a military man haunted by the death a very dear friend and the grief it caused their loved ones.
Mallory, she’s a very sweet, bubbly girl who runs a deli for the most part alone but with the help of her family.
Nixon and Mallory have a great but un fulfilling start then Mallory keeps getting knocked down
It was great to see their characters evolve and open up. So far loving this series

A fast-paced story with plenty of action, danger, and suspense as Mallory finds herself in the middle of nefarious plans. Mallory and Nixon have a rocky start as an attempted friends with benefits relationship, but as feelings grow they're forced to face the truths.... and when Mallory is kidnapped Nixon is forced to face his feelings head on leading to their HEA. The narration is great and brings the story to life.

Just wow!

Book two in this series grabbed me at chapter one, and never let go! I loved Nix and Mal together. (most of the time! *wink*)

A great many characters from her other series make appearances across the stories, so knowing the connections is important (IMHO).
I am SO very glad I knew the backstories…because the read was more entertaining and engaging.
(I strongly recommend reading Terrible Lie before this one).

There are so many things to enjoy in this read, it’s hard for me to pin down my favorite. My recommendation is to plan your reading time accordingly, as this is really difficult to put down once you start. The chapters flowed well and I was at the end of this story way too quickly!

I think my favorite thing about this author is her ability to write characters and stories that pull so many different emotions from me, every time. Her characters are so easy to like (and dislike)!
I always enjoy my time in her well crafted worlds.

Obviously, I am a fan of this author, and I strongly recommend reading her other offerings and series (in order – of course). I feel she is one of the best writers on the market today. Her works are always a “one-click” buy for me, and I eagerly look forward to her future endeavors and creativity.

Harper Security Heats Up with Nixon and Mallory
The fact that I adore everything A.K. Evans puts out is a given. She balances the steamy chemistry and heart-tugging moments of a great contemporary romance with an element of danger and suspense that keeps us turning those pages. “Tempted,” Book 2 in the Harper Security series, is no different. I couldn’t wait for Nixon to get his story and then realizing his other half is another character I adore from this lineup just made it that much more special. Lidia Dornet (a new-to-me narrator) did a good job of bringing out the feistiness of Mallory, and she is an excellent complement to the sexy-as-sin Nixon (who has a great heart but honestly just needs to get out of his own way at times), played by a favorite of mine, the amazing Stephen Dexter. There is nothing I don’t love about this tale, and the roadblocks in their journey toward Happily Ever After only make it sweeter. As always, Evans gives us masterful storytelling with main and side characters that we can’t help but adore, and I just can’t wait for the next one! A big ol’ pile of shining stars here, A.K. Evans!

Nixon has seen firsthand what happens to loved ones when a soldier doesn’t make it back home and he has vowed to never put any woman in that position with him. He is a man that does do relationships. When he rescues his brother’s girl after being kidnapped and offers to go with her best friend to pick up her car and her clothes and belongings from the hotel, he finds that he is attracted to Mallory, but he is determined to stay away because if something went bad between them, it would not be good for his brother and Magnolia. The problem is that Nixon can’t forget Mallory even a week after their meeting.

Now that Magnolia has been rescued and she is good, Mallory takes notice of Nixon, and she finds her confidence after they go to lunch and pick up Magnolia’s car and clothes. However, she finds that Nixon is not on the same page as her. She’s willing to go against her usual dating and relationship persona to have a friend with benefits with Nixon, but he refuses and leaves Mallory feeling like she misread the situation. However, she can’t seem to get Nixon out of her head.

I really liked this story and the characters. I liked that A.K. Evans wrote this story to coincide with Magnolia and Killian’s story. This story made more sense with that backstory and the intermingling of the characters from both series. The story had some unpredictable scenes and some wow scenes. I loved Mal and Nixon together. I loved Rockstars & Romance Series and going into the Harper Security Ops Series was seamless. I love the characters and the story lines in this series, and I am looking forward to more of these Harper Security men and the women that show them what life is like with the right partner standing beside them. I give this story a 5-star review.

I really enjoyed this brilliant book. I was more than happy when I found out that this series was gonna a be written. Especially when we had the teasers throughout the Rockstar and Romance series. Yet again, you get to see a man that fears so much when it comes to emotions and relationships. I absolutely loved the flow of the story and the meaning behind the way Nixon felt.

From book 1 Broken in this series. And a little from a Terrible Lie, Killian's book from the rockstar and romance series. We got sneak peeks of Mallory and Nixon, as a friend and brother, these characters were in these stories and when all sorts of stuff blew up, they couldn't deny each other. Their story is beautiful but God is it heartbreaking to read. I can't really speak on the details because a tiny detail would spoil so much.

This book is a huge recommendation for me. I absolutely love this series and the previous one. A.K Evans is fast becoming a go-to author for me.

Tempted is the second book in the Harper Security Ops series by A.K. Evans. It can be read as a standalone.

People dealing with loss handle it differently. For Nixon, when his friend died in combat leaving his family and girlfriend devastated, Nix responded by locking his heart behind steel walls and vowing to indulge in hookups only. When the intriguing Mallory shows up at Harper Security needing assistance, he's instantly attracted to her but recognizes her as the relationship type. Indulging in a FWB situation with her is risky but he can't resist her. Turns out he was right, she can't do friends with benefits but even more surprising, neither can he, not with her.

I enjoyed this book focusing on one of the Harper Security guys, Nixon and Mallory, the best friend of Nix's brother's girlfriend, even though I found Nix incredibly frustrating. I genuinely liked him so much one minute then was disappointed in him the next. He played with Mal's heart and it wasn't right. The waffling back and forth made me want to throw my kindle. Thankfully he comes to his senses but it's not without some drama Mal needs rescuing from. I liked Mallory very much, she stood up for herself and was fiesty! She's the friend everyone needs in their corner. The intimate times were definitely sexy and HEA was worth the effort. The ending was rushed for me but was still a great ending. I definitely enjoyed the first book in the series more but this was a good read!

Tempted is the second book in A.K. Evans series, Harper Security Ops. This book is about kidnapping and ransom expert, Nixon Scott and bakery owner Mallory. Nixon is cousin to the head of Harper Security, Royce, and is one of the founders. A bit of the back story to how Harper Security came into being is disclosed in the beginning, and is a foundation for why Nixon behaves the way he does towards Mallory for much of the book.
Mallory gets a call from her best friend’s father when she doesn’t come home one night. When Mallory rushes to her ex boyfriend’s apartment to see if he knows anything, at first, he doesn’t seem to care, after all, he found out she was an escort. But Mallory disabuses him of the idea she slept with anyone else, then, he gets a text that changes everything. It appears that someone has her. They rush to Harper Security, and Mallory watches as Nixon and friends do their thing.
Mallory ends up being attracted to Nixon, but he doesn’t do relationships. They end up dancing around with a whole friends with benefits thing, until she realizes she wants and deserves more. But while Nixon decides to fight his desires, someone has it out for Mallory. Will Nixon figure it out before she really gets in trouble?
There were some times I just really wanted to throttle Nixon, but this was a seriously great read in this series and I can’t wait for more!

Nixon is always in control. He's seen how love can end in heartbreak when his friend didn't return from overseas duty and left his distraught girlfriend behind. No strings are the only way to protect the women in his life. Well, those strings are about to get attached!

Mallory is the best friend of Amelia who has been dating Nixon's brother. After Amelia's big secret came to light he dropped her like a hot potato. Mallory has nowhere else to turn when Amelia is kidnapped so she ends up calling him a few choice names and then everything goes pear-shaped when the ransom demands come in.

She can't help but feel connected to Nixon, he just takes charge of the situation. When he politely declines her offer for some adult fun-time when Amelia is found, She's crushed but Mal isn't about to let on man bring her to her knees.

The relationship between these two is slow to get started but when it does, hold onto your hat! Nix could be the perfect man if he was just a little bit less busy protecting those around him rather than reading the signals in front of him. Mallory let him off the hook a wee bit too easy in my book.

There were plenty of twists and turns, I was never really sure who was the actual bad guy until the end. I must say poor Mal struck out on the uncle front! Can't wait to see what happens next!

I love to see an author start a new series and this one was no exception. A.K. Evans started out her Harper Security series with a bang and has now followed up with a great second book of the series. Tempted makes you want to laugh, cry and throw a fit over Nixon being so stubborn. It will make you laugh, cry and be scared for Mallory. Mallory is best friends with Magnolia and Nixon is the brother of Killian from Terrible Lie. Every since their interaction towards the end of that book I think that most of A.K. Evans’ readers have been hoping that she would write a book about them. She did not disappoint with this book either. The name of the book is Tempted for a reason! Nixon believes that he can’t make himself vulnerable or put someone in the situation of something happening to him if they love him. But oh how he is Tempted by Mallory. Mallory makes Nixon an offer of a friends with benefits situation since he won’t offer a relationship but she just can’t handle that type of relationship. It takes Mallory getting robbed at gun point to make him realize that he needs her, that he can offer her a real relationship. More bad things happen to Mallory but like a true hero Nixon is there to rescue her. This book is seriously 🔥🔥🔥

Mallory has never had a one night stand and Nixon doesn’t do relationships, but from the moment they met when Harper Security was saving Mallory’s best friend, Magnolia from a kidnapping, these two were fated to be together. But, when push comes to shove, can either truly compromise what they want out of life?

Oohhh Nixon and Mallory definitely have chemistry! But, even though Mallory thinks she can handle a one night stand, she knows deep down that she can’t . . . especially when Nixon won’t even do the friends part of the friends with benefits. And, Nixon is having way too many feelings about a girl that is supposed to only be a bit of fun on the side, causing him to really hold back because he knows he won’t be able to stop just at friendship. This couple has a lot of push and pull, even though it’s clear there should be more between them than what they had.

I enjoyed the suspense and danger that helped to bring this couple closer together. Learning Nixon’s back story also helped explain his cold feet and stubbornness about relationships. Honestly, what I loved best about this book was Mallory knowing her worth and knowing what she wanted and needed out of a relationship and refusing to settle. Another solid entry in the Harper Security Ops series! 4 stars.

Mallory and Nixon are made for each other, their physical attraction was hot from the onset.
They learnt that time is fleeting and you need to communicate and share what you really feel to the people you care about. Sometimes if you wait too long you may miss that chance, take the opportunity to be vulnerable.
The suspense was on par for this author. It had me guessing rights to the end.
“It might have all started out as a physical attraction, but it was no longer just that.”
About the book:
Mallory Grant and Nixon Scott met purely by chance. With an instant attraction between them, the pair was easily tempted to give in to their desires.
Despite the fact that Mallory wants more with Nixon, she’s willing to settle for what he is prepared to offer: a physical relationship with no strings.

I love how this series manages to bring new and different dilemmas or problems to each couple so far. And since I’d been hoping for Mallory to find her forever after meeting her along with Magnolia, I was excited to see how it all worked out. Let’s just say I was NOT disappointed. Not with Mallory. Nixon, on the other hand? Oh, he let me down a few times. His communication left a bit to be desired, his yo-yo act with how he wanted to proceed with Mallory, and his easy crushing of Mallory’s heart put him on my hit-with-an-s list for a little bit. But then…then Nixon finally got his head together. And he shared why he acted how he did. And he made me forgive him just as quickly as Mallory did.

It’s fantastic to me that this author manages to write both men and women with real issues. The worry. The fear. The screwups. The failures to communicate and the attempts to fix all of the stupid acts that led to time apart. And boy, those deeds to reconcile. Those are always a winner here. So much so that I’m glad we’re only at the beginning of this series because I’m going to want to spend a lot of time with the men of Harper Security and the women who hold their hearts!

This is a fun friends with benefits romance. Bless Nixon, he was so clueless. He was holding on to some serious historic issues around loss of the ones you love. He truly believed he'd be able to resist love despite the happiness of those around him finding love (including his brother Killian- a cross over with the Rockstars and Romance series).

Nixon wasn't prepared for Mallory. She is the dependable best friend of Killian's partner Magnolia. When Magnolia is kidnapped, Mallory is brought into the world of Harper Security Ops and the web is spun for Nixon and Mallory's romance.

These two are pretty steamy and have incredible chemistry. They start out hot and heavy but the descriptions tend to fade out quickly (seriously, no author could keep up with these two). I loved their relationship but felt Mallory was way too patient and understanding. She should have made Nixon grovel a bit more as he was a clueless heartbreaker for parts of the story.

But as with the best romances, once the kidnappings are dealt with and the peril is overcome, you are left with a gorgeous couple who have had a mountain to climb to reach their HEA.

This is the second book in this series. They can be read as standalone books. I haven’t read the first and wasn’t lost or confused. Mallory and Nixon meet when Mallory’s friend Magnolia is kidnapped. Both are drawn to each other right away. Mallory offers an experience she has never done before, friends with benefits. Nixon just knows himself and that it won’t work. She makes him feel like no one before. Then he changes his mind. He can’t stop thinking about her. But just sex isn’t enough. Can Nixon allow himself to have more with Mallory or will he stick to how he has always done things? Can Mallory be okay with what Nixon can give or will she find herself wanting more? Then things take a turn when Mallory is robbed. When faced with what could have happened how will Nixon react? This book had me hooked right from the start. Nixon and Mallory share a connection immediately. Sometimes life events affect us and change us. It seems some of the guys at Harper Security Ops are related by more than just their time in the military. This was a great story with amazing characters. I look forward to reading the first book and the rest of the books as they come out. Great job A.K. Evans.

Ohhhhh this story. Nixon is everything. Let me just say that. He is just as sinful as his brother Killian who you do meet in his own book within the Rockstars and Romance series though you do not have to read that book to fully enjoy this one. That chemistry between Mallory and Nixon is absolutely sizzling and off the charts. You feel their intense emotions within the pages and how they play off of each other. Honestly, I devoured this book once I started and couldn’t stop. There are twisty intense moments that add to the depth of the story but so much more with this one. I think it is the reason as to why Nixon is gun shy to start anything serious with Mallory even though you want to get so mad at him at times. It really tugs on your heartstrings and makes you swoon more. But holy heck that passion these two have! IT IS FIRE! I am all for these two and I am dying to get my hands on more with these guys from the series. There is just something about the intensity of them all! I am hoping for a story for Mallory's brother too!

I was so excited to get Tempted. A.K. Evans took the events of one series and brought it into this one seamlessly (and no you don't have to read the other book for this one to make sense).

I liked Mallory. She was strong and sassy. A loyal friend and hard worker. She found herself in the middle of a mess and lusting after someone she knew she shouldn't. Heck, he told her so. That didn't stop her from wanting Nixon. Didn't stop him from wanting her right back. If only he could let his hangups about being in a relationship go.

But when a string of events targeted Mallory, it was all Nixon could do to ensure her safety. I loved his protective side. How he pulled out all the stops to ensure her safety. How he only let his guard down and opened up to her.

While I loved the danger and drama as Mallory and Nixon took their friendship someplace neither of them expected, I wanted a touch more romance. More of those stolen moments getting to know each other. That being said I can't wait to get back to Steel Ridge and see what is in store for the Harper Security Ops team next.

I am loving this Harper Security Ops series so much. I have to admit the Cunningham Security series was my favourite, but they are now neck and neck together for my top spot from this author.
In this second book, we have Nixon and Mallory. They first meet when Mallory goes to Harper Security for help finding her best friend, who’s story happens in the first book.
There are immediate sparks between them which Nixon tries to fight at first. He does not want any serious relationship in his life and want to keep things strictly on a physical level. Despite wishing for more, Mallory agrees to this and tries to fight her growing feelings for him. It all changes when Mallory finds herself in danger and Nixon realizes he really does have deeper feelings for her no matter how hard he tried to prevent it from happening. Some drama and intrigue occurs and we are brought along for the ride.
I really enjoyed this book, even a bit more than the first one. As usual, this author leaves us both satisfied with the story as well as wanting more stories in this world. Loved it.

A.K. Evans was spot on with the title for the second book in this must-read romantic suspense series of 2022. Tempted wooed me, it enticed me, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Mallory and Nixon are a temptation not to be missed.

Harper Securities was set in tribute to this band of brothers' fallen friend during their last military tour, after seeing the devastation left behind with Ryan's girlfriend when he didn't come home, Brixton has no plans to settle down, as the hostage negotiator for the team he keeps his emotion in check, that is until he comes face to face with his brother's girlfriends best friend Mallory, the attraction is instant but Brixton is happy with a friends with benefits arrangement noting else, or so he thinks, but when Mallory is put in danger all those reasons to stay apart start to crumble.

I was really impressed with the suspense element of Tempted, it kept me guessing right till the end.

Mallory & Nixon

He didn't do commitments. She met him under serious circumstances. Her best friend had been kidnapped. He was her friend's ex-boyfriend who immediately took her to Harper Ops. Despite the situation. Mallory & Nixon felt a pull to each other. Later, they agreed to meet. The attraction was there and when she made it clear she was interested he rejected her. Not a good start. Was there a chance for them?

His past made him lock his heart from committing to any woman. So why was she always in his thoughts? Could they have the chemistry without more? Could she really do that? When she needed protection he was there. She wasn't going through his rejections again—was she. Trust is important. Could she ever trust him with her heart?

A great read with all the best parts, romance, wonderful characters, intrigue, danger, steam, and an overall good story.
