STORY:
WHAT I LIKED:
I walked away thinking, it’s a little humorous and dark at the same time. I think for me, I really like Volt a lot and his POV within the story. He hates humans and wants to eradicate them. The story is a quick read and goes by pretty quickly. Majority of the story is really about the sexual tension and act of Volt and Penelope. They seem like the oddest of pair, but it worked.

WHAT WAS SO SO:
I thought the storyline was not very strong, which is ok for me, it was more about the sex and mating. I am not sure what it is, but Penelope’s POV was ok a little funny-ish at times. I think it’s the way she conveys her views to me. When the story started, I felt like maybe I didn’t want to continue. It wasn’t until I got to Volt’s POV that I became interested. How I feel about this is more a me thing and what I like.

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY
One word to describe the sex in this book ROUGH. It consisted of punishing sex, rough sex, spanking, raw, very descriptive, sex and more sex.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
There really weren’t any that were appealing to me. Volt and Penelope carried it well.

OVERALL:
Was I entertained? Yes, especially the sex scenes. Did I like the story? Yes with a few buts. Would I read the other books in the series? Don’t believe it’s a series.

TRIGGERS:

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

Human Penelope is taken by a "beast" upset that her kind is colonizing the universe and...well, if you've ever read a Loki Renard book, nothing that transpires here will surprise you. Not the satirical digs at, alternately, the human condition and mundane contemporary annoyances. Not the OTT apex Alpha who softens for his woman. Not the masochistic MFC who isn't all she seems. Not the underlying critique of colonialism (always welcome). Not, well, anything.

Because this is to some degree consensual and Volt never actually harms her, I don't consider this all that "rough." If public humiliation and pet play aren't your thing, however, you might not enjoy this.

3 stars. I used to really like this author, but find myself reading her less and less: her narratives and relationship dynamics are too same-y and predictable. However, if you like what she offers, you'll probably like this. Note: Volt's argument regarding medicine is completely tone-deaf in a book published during a pandemic -- not the first time I've thought this about this author's narratives: they aren't iconoclastic; rather; they're absurd.

This story reminds me of the earlier stories L. Renard wrote that had that dark, gritty edge in the dominance of the MMC. It oozed from them in such a way that it was natural for the FMC to submit. There was some initial struggles between the two characters as they fought for leadership in the relationship, but the punishments were the rewards.

When left behind by her human crew on a deserted planet, Penelope is rescued by unknown primitive natives after her shelter is destroyed then taken captive by a hostile alien who resents her being on their sacred ancestral planets. Volt means to punish this naughty human for sacrilegious treatment she has for his planet and ancestors. He will punish her young body with pleasure, both inside and out. It may take him the rest of his life before his pet can be forgiven, but he is willing to discipline her daily if need be.

I have really missed this in recent stories by the author, with FMC who were too head-strong or feisty to ever really truly submit believably. With this story, it was like "Finally, yes it's back to the basics that made her the author I love." Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of books the author has written that I really enjoy, but I must be honest that lately I have felt like that old spark was gone. I can tell you, this book fanned it into a flame. Great work L. Renard

This one starts hot and never slows down! This book is Loki at her finest. Volt is everything you would ever want in an alpha dominant alien and every moment is tingling. Forget the blurb and forget the reviews. Just read this book and relish every delicious minute. Wow!

This book is hot as sin. Volt and Penelope are explosive together, from the very first second they meet. That first meeting was a thing of beauty to see. I loved how Volt thought that he was the top person on this planet, but he quickly learned that he really wasn't.

I think that the way that he handled Penelope on the ship was interesting. She seemed to like it, and it does look like he's taking care of her and thinking about her, even if it doesn't necessarily seem so. It's an interesting dichotomy.

There are also a number of funny things in this, including a few video game references. Definitely a fun book to read.

What the actual hell did I just read.

Bizarre doesn't even begin to cover it.
Yes it's bad, like really really bad.
Sex from page one to the end. Then a really awful story in the middle, that even sci-fi fans are a bit disgusted over.
I mean if your all about bdsm and constant sex, then by all means. If you like an actual story that builds (at least a little bit) to sex, this isn't for you. If you want a story... the essence of this book. "Once upon a time, man travels to space, man finds new planet, man puts lonely 23 year old woman on planet alone and leaves her. Alien finds her, takes her as prisoner, she becomes his sex slave, she likes it, they have every kind of sex in ever page, alien treats her like a dog who he screws. Alien puts an end to human space travel, Alien and Human woman have a baby, then end."

Dark sci fi but with a delightful humorous twist. It was hit it was funny, the plot was well written and once again it was hot. So hot.
Penelope basically gets stranded on a new planet where she gets adopted by the local tribes. In comes Volt, he is a more evolved version of the local tribesmen and basically came to visit his ancestors but gets super land when he sees Penelope “corrupting” them by bringing healthcare and cooked food. He gets so mad at her especially when he sees how much the tribesmen love her and not him lol.
They have this deep connection that both cannot ignore so he ends up mating her and taking her back to his ship to “punish” and breed her. This book was hawt 🥵 and the interactions between Penelope and were the best. She also had a pet goat named bilbo that is hilarious.

I loved this book so much. It had all of my favorite kinks in alien smut including breeding, pet, slave, praise and exhibitionism. This author has the same taste in smut as me, but I usually hate her heroines. This one was her best one yet. She wasn’t annoying at all and she was pretty accepting and easy going.

There were definitely some scenes in here that made me laugh. Love that humans are the cockroaches of the galaxy and Hero definitely thinks humans are inferior and talks down about her race.

On of my favorite scenes:

Brrrt…
The ringtone stops and is replaced by music without words and without emotion.
“What is this?”
“Hold music,” I explain. “It’s to keep you calm while you wait.”
“I find it intensely enraging,” he notes.
“Many do.”

I felt bad for the FMC. She messed up, sure, but that kind of mate? Nope. I’d be running for the hills long before ever becoming “obedient” or staying with a partner like that. She clearly developed Stockholm syndrome—how else could she have developed feelings for him? And did his species really treat their mates this badly? No wonder she wanted to escape, even if part of her liked his treatment of her… like, a lot.

This book was mostly smut, with only a few parts actually focused on moving the plot forward. The MCs were both kind of cracked, and honestly, they didn’t have much of a connection. Even he admitted it himself: “I have spent so much time inside her. More time inside her, perhaps, than I have spent talking to her.”

Good read I guess. Lots of rough sex and spanking. Interesting alien plot. Again I have to laugh at the alien part, but I read it and enjoyed.

Wow - so this is my first book from Loki Renard that I'm reading from and...am absolutely LOVING IT. I sort of put this as a 4.5, but high so going to a 5.

First off it's very clear to read the warnings, and an easy callout is if you aren't into humiliation in terms of doing it publicly steer away. (Only the leads though so no other people) If you are not into that - this isn't the book for you. I would say although this is indeed a rough romance, it did have more so a consensual female lead actually. At moments Penelope seems pretty naïve, but when you get into her head during all the steam too...you can tell she's not stupid. And to be honest, that is what made the scenes HOTTER, even if it's aggressive alpha male. It's the fact that we have a FL who knows what feels good and it's written in a way all throughout the book.

**More warnings on that humiliation public scene/or me just saying I enjoyed it

To be honest I wasn't expecting it to be as deep as it did with what Volt was doing with Penelope. Without spoiling too much - let's just say it was pretty consensual. However if you want to know:

Also I'd LOVE to read more of Volt's kind, since his own people were not as dominating to the extreme as Volt is. Yes Volt is an Alpha, but his own people were willing to be more lighthearted in what Penelope did. It does sound sorta much with how Volt is to humans, but at the end it ...made sense. Also Volt is an Alpha with a knot and all with that mating instinct...so would again love to read more of his kind!

Also I have to give applause for the humiliation steam scene too, since it was steamy hot and kinky - and actually well written. It is what I would say...the main first steam scene, but since it's clear he does it on a regular cadence (for reasons he explained and she clearly enjoys) ...I just thought it amusing since I can just imagine his crew seeing it as regular occurrence LOL. You really get the sense of as reader sort of going "There's the dom and sub playing again..."

I do think the only part that I know was there for humor and such was the goat, but I guess when I look back - I guess it makes sense for some lighthearted ness. On top of that this was a good medium length read, but keeps you hooked as a reader. To be honest that's part of my reason for not making it a full 5 since there's a lot of interesting world dynamics, that aren't explained fully (for Volt's people) it's not entirely necessary since it also made the book more focused on the relationship and steam with the main characters....BUT since it does tie into the overall I guess plot, it leaves you sort of going "Well I guess it sorta makes sense with Volt's logic and humans...but I have more questions!" I would say that it would've been nice to maybe see at least one more scene involving...romance? Clearly the two are all into each other body wise, but that just would've maybe made things feel more emotionally whole.

Overall still - SUPER enjoyed this book and would actually reread this too. Now off to try out other books from Renard!

Penelope is left behind on a supposedly deserted planet, she is captured by an alien who believes she should have never been there in the first place. Now he plans on keeping her and breeding her. Fast-paced sci-fi read with loads of drama, suspense and sizzling scenes. I liked this red-hot read.

five screaming, howling, Earth-shattering stars because it’s as much as I can give

This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Rather, the best book I’ve read since the last Loki Renard book I’ve read. How she manages to keep leveling up and imagining these fantastic universes is unparalleled. To say Loki Renard doesn’t just raise the bar, she IS the bar is not an overstatement. In this vast universe, Earth is fine. Humans are as entitled, colonizing, and bureaucratic as ever. “Uninhabited” planets are quickly claimed and used in whatever manner the claimer finds suitable provided the appropriate paperwork is submitted. That’s how we meet Penelope: young, entitled, motivated by the promise of wealth, and a bit lazy. Her crew finds a planet and in the process of leaving to claim it, the unthinkable happens and she’s stranded. It turns out the planet isn’t uninhabited dater all. And it isn’t unclaimed either. What follows is true conquest. A well written, fascinating story set in an incredible universe with interesting, dynamic, three-dimensional characters, engaging plots, and filthy, brutal, utter carnality. A much-anticipated, dark, delicious read that only pure exhaustion kept me from devouring in one sitting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is a quick read. And that's why the 3 stars - it's too quick and should be more developed.

I like the idea of Volt, although more should be said about his appearance and of his people.

Volt and Penelope have a bdsm relationship that lasts over 2/3 of the book and then, all of a sudden, it stops (or does it? We'll never know.) and they express love to each other. 😮 She blurted out that she loves him, no buildup, no feelings behind it, it felt a bit forced. 😐

And what should be another 20 pages of the book after that, turns into roughly 3 pages where we don't know how things turned around, the shift in the relationship is not explained nor her comunication with the crew (and how is it possible for the crew to spoil her while being described as savage beasts that don't like humans).

Anyway, the book ended and I still had no idea what their relationship is now like. Only that she gave birth and wasn't spanked after the love part - that we know of. It doesn't say. So was that truly a bdsm relationship in the end? Looks like it was just some sadistic jerk lashing out (he thought it's what she wanted, she denied...and then what??). It would be good to know how things shifted between them, it would be a great transition to the 'happy ever after ' ending if things were explained.

If you really have nothing else to read then give this a try.

Penelope had it made, well she thought she did. Her crew found a planet that was perfect. Get it on paper and we are golden. Of course someone has to stay to make sure the claim is valid. “Hand up” Then the unthinkable happens. She is on her own and no home but an emotional goat. LOL that was funny. Problem, planet already has inhabitance. Volt is going back to the wild to not only embrace his Vulpari ancestors, so to speak but to observe. It would be great but a human has tainted them. She must be purged. But the more he is near her the more he wants to keep her.

This is a strange world. Not like our normal aliens. These are more animal than man. The dominance and cockiness is evident from the beginning. Volt is proud and authoritative. His people aren’t too demanding. The odd thing is the Penny is the brunt of all the pain. Yes, punishment hurts but at times I wasn’t sure if Volt cared if he humiliated and hurt her or not. You really don’t know for sure till we get closer to the end. Penny is stronger than we thought. She seemed like a ditz but she took on so much. The fate is what Penny stated. Humans are everywhere. How do we know that that was not fates plan all along?

Oh, wow! This story kept me up all night reading it because I couldn't put it down. I tried 3 or 4 times to put it down and go to sleep, but my mind wouldn't stop thinking of the story and it made sleep impossible. I read a lot of books that I don't want to put down, but not many that can't walk away from. I seriously couldn't walk away.

This story is different from the sci-fi romances that Ms. Renard has been writing lately - it's darker. It still has the snark and touches of humor that I always love, though. There are twists and turns in the plot that I didn't see coming, and a bit of social commentary that fit the story perfectly. Penelope and Volt are interesting, well-developed characters that have sizzling chemistry and a relationship that is complex. Other species don't think very highly of humans, with good reason, and I loved how the humans were dealt with in the end. I recommend this to anyone who wants a steamy escape.

I confess I was expecting hot, dark, steamy scenes when I picked up this book, and boy there were plenty of those! I was not expecting to laugh out loud at some of the characters' inner thoughts and interactions. On the surface, Penelope and Volt have a tense antagonistic relationship which intensifies the heat level of the book. He is a very scary and very firm captain of an alien spaceship, and she is a devil-may-care human bound to get into deep trouble from go. These two are made for each other, though, despite their enormous differences. Their HEA is extremely satisfying. And Bilbo! I just giggled each time that little goat popped up. There are also some interesting themes here, in terms of how humans view their role in the universe, and about some of the ethics of space exploration which also apply to life here on Earth. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys raw, kinky stories with a generous dose of wit.

This certainly kept me intrigue right from the start, the truth being revealed little by little. It starts from a somewhat present, then back to the past. The female MC Penelope recollecting how she was stranded, rescued, and mated and punished. But that is not the whole of the story. Like all the books of the author, there is something profound that can be found in between the lines of the story that will make you think. There are some things that I did not agree with but it does not affect my enjoyment of the story. I liked the epilogue, that scene in the epilogue made me realized the reason for the title.

This story is a little dark but with traces of humor. I kind of loved it but if domination and submission, spanking, and rough sex isn't your cup of tea, you might want to pass on this one. The book has a decent plot but the main focus is the relationship between Volt and Penelope. I liked Penelope but I wasn't too sure about Volt until I got his POV, and while he is majorly domineering, he really cares about her. Their chemistry is off the charts and the sexual situations, of which there are many, are very intense and white hot. I did cringe a little bit at some parts but overall I really enjoyed it.

Sci-fi BDSM👋👋 Erotica💖

XXX Alpha Alien Male 🐺 Sci-fi Erotica with BDSM👋👋 Elements.

This is definitely a story of a rough animalistic Alpha Alien Male 🐺🍆⛲💪 who takes a human woman for us captive mate. Descriptions of Volt🐺🍆⛲💪, the alien Alpha, make him seem somewhat of a wolf man🐺 with characteristics of both, but more of the wolf🐺🍆⛲💪.

So being an alien 👽, he is not bound by human morals and doesn't have to justify his actions.
Much of the book is erotica, the story seems secondary, but it's still fascinating, interesting and well written for this genre.

Sci-fi Erotica at its best!!!

DAMN! That was HOT!!! I mean REALLY HOT!! Penelope and Volt are fantastic together. She’s young and lazy and Volt is the totally opposite – he’s fierce, domineering, brutal and forceful. He loves punishing Penelope daily and she loves it just as much! Their daily struggles, punishments and fantastic back and forth banter kept me fully entertained from beginning to end.

This was a really great, out of this world story, that will keep you riveted to your seat, combusting with pleasure and titillated with every turn of the page. It’s dark, violent, brutal and deliciously sexy.

I loved the story and especially the strong female, Penelope who seems to manage to make the best of even bad circumstances. Volk, the alien alpha who captures her, is learning that female humans are much more complex than he had thought and are able to withstand harsher treatment that expected. As much as Volk hates humans, he has claimed Penelope as his mate and a strong bond has developed. There is a lot going on in this story, it is action packed and at times hotter than sin. This is an excellent story that makes for a great read and one that I would highly recommend.

Penelope is left behind to stake a claim for the humans on a deserted planet. Penelope finds that she's not really alone. Penelope is taken captive by primitive natives that dislike her being on their planet. Volt is going to punish her and keep giving her pain but mostly pleasure. Most of the storyline is sexual with plenty of punishment, rough sex, spanking, punishing sex, mostly just sex. This is almost like beauty and the beast. Loved it. This story reminded me of why I started reading Loki's stories to begin with years ago.

When Penelope is stranded on Volt's peoples ancestral planet, Volt is enraged that she's contaminating his ancesters' decendants. But instead of destroying her, he finds that he is drawn to her and takes her to mate even though his people hate humans. He finds her tenacity and sensuality intriguing. Penelope thinks that Volt is arrogant and stern, but very attractive and she feels drawn to him also. Can they find common ground and make a future for themselves? A new and interesting twist on alien invasion story. Quite refreshing.
