A solid career, a loving, supportive father and older brother, the best friends in the world, and the love of a special man.
Kane Scott—son of Nathaniel Scott, the Kingmaker, one of the most influential and powerful men in the country—has everything he ever wanted and more. But soon, his happiness becomes clouded by shadows of the past. His husband's past.
From the start, Kane’s heart was captured by the beautiful, emerald-eyed redhead emanating an inner sadness. When Willard asked for Kane’s promise to never inquire about his past, Kane was quick to make that promise.
Now, that forbidden past stands at Kane and Willard’s doorstep, threatening everything they have built together… leaving Kane with two choices: Break his promise and his husband’s trust by pressuring Willard to reveal secrets buried deep within his soul… or stay true to his word and watch helplessly as the man he loves falls to pieces.
Two choices. Two consequences. Kane must determine before it’s too late, which path will lead to healing… and which will lead to destruction. Choosing the wrong path could cost him more than he’s willing to lose.
H.M. Wolfe lives with the coolest Mom in the Universe and a fat, gay, submissive tomcat. She loves writing stories about boys and men who love, cherish, respect and protect other boys and men.
OMG H.M.Wolfe wrote a wonderful book again ,this story about Kane and his delicate husband Willard... now everyone has a past but Willard had a hard life with a very bad father and a cousin to which he does not want anything to do with but the past always finds it's way back but this time Willard has his wonderful husband Kane to help and protect him .Willard finds new joy in a lost child plus and old ex bring good and bad news and Willard find his way while evil gets destroyed with help.....i read this book for this great author for my honest opinion

WOLFE brings characters forward that make a happily ever after a given. The roads to happily ever after is paved with danger, intrigue, good friends, determination and love. This new series is going to be SPECTACULAR. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
As always another hit from the author and a fantastic start to a new series. I adore Willard such a sweetie and the twins are as adorable as I remember them.
An excellent storyline with great characters some we’ve met before some new ones.
Highly recommended new start to what will be a great series.
This story focuses on Kane and Willard relationship, their struggles, and how they find their way to happiness. We find out what's in Willard soul, his past and motivation behind some decisions that he made, and how he was disappointed and neglected by the persons that were supposed to cherish and support him. He's a complex soul that was gravely misunderstood, suffered greatly, and finds solace in his husband but he's still afraid to confess his past. Kane is totally in love with his husband, he's very protective and does everything in supporting him and in making him happy. He's relentless in his quest to provide a happy environment, to make every pain go away and to bring a smile on his husband face. It was heart-warming to see how family, friends and new persons that care and love them contribute to their safety, happiness and peace of mind. It's a highly emotional read that will make you cry and smile, a journey at the end of which justice is served, families are reunited and dark secrets are revealed. You'll have to be prepared for danger, adrenaline, and psychological impact. I really loved the story and I'm looking forward to see what happens next with our beloved characters.
This was the first book I've read from H.M. Wolfe. Honestly, I started reading and found myself really confused. I asked and quickly discovered that although this is a new series, it is HEAVILY entwined with prior books with A LOT of overlapping characters.
So with that said, if you are also a new reader to this author, do yourself a favor and at least read Blessings & Miracles from The Full Circle series. At least you meet Willard and Kane and get some background that helps here.
For Kane's book, the premise was interesting and it was a relatively quick read. I felt like the majority of things took place off page and we as readers didn't really get all of the info. Like we were told a conversation was happening, but we only got the character's inner musings.
I liked how Kane and Willard were protective of the girls. Rowena probably was my favorite character and I find it odd that I didn't connect with either of the main characters at all.
I won't lie, I got confused with all of the POV's ... and EVERYONE gets a point of view, sometimes multiple ones in the same paragraph. I am interested to read other books from this author to see if this is just a characteristic of their writing style.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
- Possible spoilers - Multiple pov. This book reminds me of C.J. Bishop's Cowboy Gangster series, except that those books involve so much drama and action you hardly notice the author's writing style. Unfortunately, Kane has no such distractions. It's sloppily written, mainly because the POVs often switch several times on a single page! The story itself isn't that good either. Willard's behaving so unclear, he's practically ruining his marriage. Then there's Kane, who blabs about Willard's well-being and his own suspicions about Willard's past abuse to anyone who will listen. To him, there's no such thing as too personal.
One day, Willard's ex-wife turns up out of the blue. She disappeared years ago, right after their twin was born. Do Willard and Kane find it strange she has returned so suddenly, is Willard angry with her for never reaching out to him and for dumping their kids on him? NO, not in the least! They are simply happy to see her again. "I know her very well. She's a caring, sweet, compassionate woman who wouldn't hurt me or the girls. Or you, for that matter." Willard says to Kane. About the woman who took off. Wtf is wrong with this book's MCs?!
Kane isn't a coherent story but random topics thrown together. It's a mess.
So many things I love about this book. First, I like that Kane and Willard have an established relationship. It's nice to not focus on the meeting and developing love once in a while. That being said, however, clearly these two haven't built a relationship on openness. That brings me to the other thing I loved - secrets. I enjoy a book where we know up front one of the characters has big secrets, neither we nor their partner knows what they are and then, of course, all you know what breaks loose and we get to see the characters and the relationship tested to its limits and maybe beyond. H. M. Wolfe has a real winner here.
This story, oh my...só sweet... Kane and Willard... the latter much hurt, wounded and often neglected, and find comfort, love and support in the husband who loves him dearly, but the insecurities planted in his mind over time made it difficult for him to accept and let go. to love fully for the beloved husband! Wonderful family, Huanita once again offers us a highly emotional and beautiful book, where people are strengthened in the company of special and very loving people!! Kane the best husband ever! 5 ⭐
I love reading this author’s work. The way she writes a story is amazing; they are complex, funny, tragic but most of all contain great love. This book was no different. This is about Kane and his husband Willard. Willard is a complex person who has had a tragic past. With the help of found family and especially his husband, how he overcame his past.
Interesting, intense and moving story. I really enjoyed the ‘found family’ aspect with everyone working together to help Willard recover. The side characters were good (the female bodyguard especially) and I loved the cover illustration.
It will be interesting to see where the overarching story goes next.
I was given an ARC to read. This is my voluntary review of that ARC.
A brilliant start to a new series. Its so wonderful to be able to go on this new adventure with H.M. Wolfe. Kane is amazing and so good with Willard. The way he and the others all support and help each other and especially Williars is so good to read. Can't wait for the next instalment in the series
A fabulous start to a new series. I fell in love with one of the side characters. That's what I love about this author, the characters she creates are so interesting. I can't wait for the next book. I will be waiting for this new series to see where it goes and hope my character gets his own story.
Just finished the masterpiece by H.M Wolfe, the greatest book I've read in a long time. This book has all the elements of the greatest authors in times past, suspense, humor and romance Combine to make an amazing plot and well thought out novel.
This was really a good start to this series. I don't understand why it hasn't caught on more than it has. To avoid confusion with anyone, it would really help if you read at least the Full Circle series before getting into this one. Well, honestly you need to read all the series from the beginning to really get who is who. Sometimes it gets a little too descriptive for me personally and the POVs are a little confusing sometimes, but overall, I love this series and am going to jump to Ian's story as soon as I can. I've already met Ian from some other books, so I'm curious to see how things work totally in his head, so to speak. It really is another twist into these worlds and a good one. I think the kids help make this story even better. I love the son the most. But you'll have to meet him for yourself. And i'm not saying when or where you do. hehe
Audiobook - good narration and an interesting voice. Story - 3 stars. Some good unexpected plot twists, and I liked the interactions with the children. Willard was very sweet, and Kane was obviously in love. The writing style was a bit all over the place, and the conversations held by the characters sometimes went into overly dramatic speeches. Also, some of the repetition became irritating - how many times did the word "redhead" appear? Above all, I disliked Kane "protecting" his husband by discussing his possible SA history with multiple people. This was listed as part one of a series, but I felt I missed a lot of character history by going in without reading any interconnected books first.
I, too, have not read any books from this author. The book sounded intriguing, so I read it and I have to say that even though I was a little lost in the story, I definitely enjoyed it. The story was interesting and I loved the characters. I will be reading the next book.
Let me start by saying that I only read this after deciding to read Hendrick and realizing it was book two. This book is not listed as part of the Kingmaker’s series though. Idk.
I didn’t enjoy this book. When I need a character guide before I even start that tells me that you’re either throwing too many characters at me in the first few pages, or this book is connected to other books. The former was definitely true. There is also at least one typo in the list, Morwena is misspelled “Morwina.”
The POV jumped around so much. Within the same paragraphs at times. “The redhead” grew old quickly. Quit switching the POV so much and we won’t have so many mentions of the man/the redhead. “Redhead” was in this book 100 times!
Also, Kane starts by saying he isn’t going to pry and he is going to protect Willard’s privacy — but then he blabs everything to every single person he talks to!
OMG! I’m going to love this new series. Kane and Willard are both complex characters. Willard has had a horrific past that he has overcame. Thankfully with his found family and husband, he has been able to overcome that. I love revisiting some characters from the author’s other stories!! Overall, a phenomenal read, I cannot wait for the next one! The story was really well written, the pacing flowed smoothly, highly recommend. The story kept me engaged, I literally could NOT put it down. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My review is solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
OH! MY! FLIPPING! DEITY! This fantastic, amazing, heartfelt, emotionally charged, gritty, gripping, fast paced, beautiful, smoldering, passionate, and totally awesome book has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. I read it in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. It's the start of an intriguing new series, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Kane: The Kingmaker's Sons is the start to a new series. Honestly I was confused at the beginning. I felt like I was missing information I was supposed to already know. I need to dig deeper and see if there are other books I should read first to enjoy this series better. That being said I did enjoy how caring and productive Kane was of his husband. Willard deserved love and happiness after what he went through, both as a child and as an adult. There are secrets revealed and a mystery to solve. I recommend this book especially if you're already familiar with the main characters. Narrator Mike Peterman does a wonderful job.
I thought it was going in one direction and it definitely went in another. I really liked the establishment relationship and the troubles they faced in the present. I would have liked a bit more communication and trust between the characters, but hey if the plot asks for the opposite who am I to judge ? . My Rating : 3.5/5 🌟🌟🌟✨ . . Book 101 - March 2022 / Kindle Tags : MM Adult Contemporary, Established Relationship, Past comes to haunt
Kane Scott has everything. A gorgeous loving husband, good looks, wealth and power. A abhorrent evil from his husband’s past threatens everything. With all of his power and influence can he battle this evil or will he loose everything.
As I was going through the list of Characters, I got a sad feeling in my chest..." Where's Arden?" I got so accustomed to reading The Base, it feels kind of weird not reading about the whole clan...It's kind of strange. Let me get on with my review of this book... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a great start to a new series and OMG the author did not disappoint. This first book in the new series is fast paste, and it gives you everything you expected from this author... villianous characters who takes the innocents from young people and use them for their own monetary and selfish needs. It is sad when a child can't trust their own father to bring them up in a safe and happy home.
I first met some of these POVs in the series The Island and then again in Blessings and Miracles, and I wanted to know more about some of them... I wanted their story, especially Williard's.
Williard had a hard and difficult life growing up and as an adult. Abused as a child, forced to do things a child shouldn't. And as an adult he tried to look for love, acceptance and a way to hide from the emotions and torment of his past in all the wrong places, but finally he gets his own happy and I love it. From the get go I knew Kane would be the one to bring Williard out of his shell and embrace him in warmth and safety. These two fit together so well.
Edgar got his just deserves, I'm hoping that Alden Stark and Julianna Nixon do as well.
So what I'm gathering Alden and Julianna are the villians in this new series.... Looking to the next installment of The Kingmaker's Sons.
I loved this book. Kane Scott is the son of the Kingmaker. Kane and his husband Willard are happy. Willard's past demons come back to haunt him. What is Kane to do? He can't break a promise to his beloved Willard but what if the past can ruin their future? He has a choice to make. Can Kane make the right choice before its to late?
