steamy/ didn’t flow for me/ steam roller H

This one was a struggle. Not gonna lie, I didn’t enjoy it but I couldn’t stop reading does that make sense? I was invested and needed to see what happened. It felt disconnected with me. Somethings didn’t add up and it jumped timing which confused the shit outta me lol.

-H is OTT Steamroller and I love that. He’s dominate and he’s in control of all things. I loved that part. He gives her a schedule! Lol tells her what to wear a few times
-h fought the wholleee time. I get it buttt at some point you gotta stop.
-H has past of child abuse, molestation and lots of trauma. It’s not detailed just talked about and this is the cause of his control issue and his need to control all aspects of life
-Steamy
-has a BSDM feel. There is a smex club which adds to this also there is one scene there and then a forced scene back there later on.
- I skipped ALOT… I mean it just seemed like a ton of the h being too curious for her own good, her fighting the H, the H controlling everything and smexy times and the h antagonizing over her feelings again. Like basically until 90% this chick is fussing…
- once they are forced together he’s all like this will be my wife, she will give me kids but he still lets her take BC… 🧐
-We see the H obsession with the h but then he spend 2 months without chasing her, bangs others while apart and then she’s just “an obsession” and will make “good wife Material” that stuff didn’t make it seem like he was into her alone which annoyed me. I mean he’s like emotionally damaged and maybe that’s why but that annoyed me.
-it was decently written and overall ok. Just not for me and idk why I wasted hours reading this today 🤦🏻‍♀️ will not read the next book.

I really liked this book, went into blind and wowww I wish I read it sooner.
The heroine was definitely my favorite in this book, she stood for herself everytime and didn’t lose her footing anytime. SHE MADE SURE HER POINT REACHED HOME AND FREAKING FINALLY THE HERO GOT SOME SENSE. But both of them were lovely, have amazing chemistry. The guy is obessedddd with her!

The only part I hated was, this one part with Cainan, I HATEDDD IT TO MY COREEEE (well there were a lot of scenes with him but yk the one where Cainan takes both of them.)

Well other than that, my first read from the author, and it was above my expectations 🔥🥵😍

Hell no. He’s fucking other women pretending they’re her. Gross and unattractive in a male protagonist. Fuck no I’m not finishing this book.

I love over the top alpha possessive men. That is exactly what Knox is.
Indie is a reported that has come to do a special interest piece on the tyrant Knox.
What she doesn't plan on is the chemistry between the two.
I enjoyed this book very much. In my opinion it is one of the darker books by Vanessa.
I will say, it may trigger some people. So proceed with caution.

Dark Romance

Yeah I really love this author’s writing, I have read several of her books now and I have never been disappointed. This is a Second Chance Romance and I really love this particular Trope. Vanessa does a really good job with this trope. I think the characters are great and I think you will really love them too. I particularly loved that there is a lot of 🔥 with the action in this story. Great HEA too.

This is the second book in the Filthy Rich Villains series by Vanessa Waltz. The first was Monster (Tony and Eve's story). And like the first book, I loved it even though I had a couple of issues with it or maybe in spite of them.

Waltz writes heroines who are sweet and loving, who see beyond the surface to find the good. Women who can empathize with those wronged, but are still strong women who stand up for themselves. Her heroes are villains who are troubled and/or broken; and because of what broke them became unfeeling alpha holes to protect themselves. While her heroes and heroines are similar, their character, backgrounds and stories are completely unique and different.

I loved Knox and Indie. I loved the dynamic between them and how they battled their need for each other as well as their own demons. Her need for independence battled with her desire to submit His need for her and need to control battled his fear of loving her and wanting to make her happy. Add in a couple of villains to aggravate the situation and you have an interesting story. I loved the characters, and I loved that Knox never hid the fact he wanted her. He did everything but admit and say those three little words, (which was all she wanted to hear) until near the end. I loved that Indie, even though she loved him, was strong enough to walk away even though it killed her, because she knew she couldn't live with his complete control of her and most of all she wanted his love.

What I didn't like:
1. Some inconsistencies, example - in Monster, Knox is referred to as Tony's attorney. However in this book, he is a CEO and owner of a business conglomerate involved in security programs and real estate deals.
2. Some typographical errors (in the ARC, they may have been corrected in the published version, which I purchased, but haven't checked). It seems like the author may have revised sentences but forgot to delete unneeded words, e.g. an extra "the" or "with" in the wrong place; "himself" instead of "herself".
3. One instance where I thought the heroine made a stupid decision (regarding her investigation of story she wanted to report on (she's a journalist). This was early in the book. Doing what she did for her investigation seemed out of character for her, but it did bring in the protagonists of the story and resulted in her hookup with the H.

In spite of the above 3 issues, this story had all the feels; there were times I was angry or frustrated, times when I was choked up wanting to cry and times of happiness. I felt their emotions, the love and the despair, the fear and the bravery. And the sex was intense and hot. There is one particular scene where both the H and h are controlled by another and forced to perform together for the villains, so be forewarned. Looking forward to Cainan and Evie's story next in the series.

I received this book as an ARC, but also.purchased the published copy. This is my honest review.

This book had one of my favorite tropes.
The unfeeling villain feels something for the h and then becomes obsessed because he can’t figure out why only she makes him feel.
I do wish he had come to the conclusion of him loving her sooner rather than fight it for so long.
But all in all I loved the book.

fuck this abusive relationship

Do not read this godawful fifty shades knockoff. Yeah, even fucking fifty shades of grey is better than this book.

This was absolutely awful. The relationship had absolutely no buildup (she didn’t want to be with him and then moved in with him and bam time jump and now they’re being lovey dovey). It was so abusive. A lot of my highlights show specific controlling behaviour that is never truly challenge. The ending likes to pretend that because he “gave up his empire” he repented, but some of the things he did are such major red flags that can never be excused. The happiest ending for this book would be Knox dead and Indie living a peaceful life by herself.

Not even to mention the fact that this was explicitly pro-gentrification! What the fuck!!

The hero is clearly very traumatized but instead of getting help he makes fun of those services. It’s. Disgusting and so poorly handled by the author.

The only good character was the sister, who was obviously against these things but the second to last chapter shows that she’s going to be the heroine of the second book so there goes her character arc.

This book is so hard to review! I liked the relationship between Knox and Indie but there were so many weird things going on. Like Cainan, who the hell is he and why are “they” punishing Knox and Indie? Who are “they”. It’s so confusing and then the ending was so abrupt. Indie was annoying because she just would not give in to Knox until something drastic happened. Idk if I liked this one or not. I know that’s weird to say but I’m still putting the pieces together in my head wondering what the fuck I just read! Ok so this one is 3 stars for me. I liked it enough to keep turning pages but there were some inconsistencies in the story and some stuff that just didn’t make sense to me. I like Knox being dominant and controlling so I don’t have any issues with that. The story just wasn’t quite good enough to me. I didn’t get the ending. It felt rushed and the couple went in circles. I still don’t know how I feel about this book. I am going to give the next one a shot and hopefully it will be better.

This book was amazing. So unlike the others in the series. Know is a gifted and controlling man who is damaged from his past. He has trouble letting go of his control because of it. Indie is the woman who seems to have gotten under his skin and he is unprepared for the feelings she evokes. He has difficulty expressing his because he has never experienced anything but sorrow and pain. He hides behind his alpha exterior. Indie can't hep but fall for Knox even though she tries to fight it. All she wants is for him to admit his feelings for her. There is a bit of suspense in the way of the story she is doing for work. Know may have problems expressing himself but he would never let anything happen to Indie. This story had me pulled in from the start. I couldn't get enough of Knox and Indie. They definitely had great chemistry. I loved the HEA.

5 Tyrannical Stars🌟

Tyrant was an amazing, steamy and unexpected story❣️Even though the premise of the story was given in the blurb I was hooked from the start and the direction is what was unexpected but it worked Sooooo well for this couple🤩 Knox - nerd billionaire with a mysterious past and sexy Alpha dominant male meets Indie - girl next door reporter who wants to help make a difference but soon finds herself on a path towards danger and asks Knox for help.

A wonderful story and I don’t want to give too much of the story away so you’ll just have to read it to experience it all😍 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

This book is a very dark romance and it won’t be everyone
cup of tea. There’s some scenes that my trigger some people.
Ok now what I found I really liked about this story is the two main
characters are as strong as each other and they really had to fight
for there happy ever after or do they miss out to find out you are going
to have to read it for yourself.
One thing I wouldn’t start this read just before bedtime because once started
it’s near impossible to put down.

Challenging the other, even the reader
I found that the story was sometimes difficult to accept as the relationship between Indie and Knox seems unhealthy, but that's also what makes it a very good dark romance, full of twists and turns, upset feelings, denied, with a raunchy side, but not always complacent.
Despite everything that happens, the author manages to bring out a romantic side that is acceptable

Bryan Knox is a powerful billionaire in Boston and gets what he wants and after meeting Indie, a reporter that was sent to do a story on him he wants her to be his. When she is in trouble and needs his help, he is happy to be of service but there will be a price to pay and that price his her. Will she accept his price? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and action. Great characters with lots of depth and steamy. I loved it!

There aren't many books that I cannot get into, but this was one of them. Granted, I stuck with it because the writing is really good, Vanessa Waltz writes some really great stories. However, Knox was not a character that I had any fondness for. From the moment he was introduced, he rubbed me the wrong way, and I didn't like his attitude not the way he treated Indie.

Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

A very good dark and dirty romance. I love when you have a broody jerk and make him fall head over heels for a strong take no prisoners female. Could put the book down just like the previous books I have read by this author.

“With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride/You're toxic, I'm slippin' under/ With a taste of a poison paradise/I'm addicted to you/Don't you know that you're toxic?” -Britney Spears

Then go ahead and keep replying that song over and over because this H is TOXIC AF.

Oh boy, where to even begin. First, this book gave me Fifty Shades of Grey vibes. I mean, the h meets the H because she is trying to interview him for a magazine. He instantly wants her after she grabs his wrist to stop him from leaving and he notes that she is the only one who has been able to touch him without freaking out. Cue H’s sexually abused past. This therefore leads him to need a very Dom/Sun relationship in order to get any sort of intimacy. Does this all sound familiar? Ok.

The plot of the book centers about the h looking into sex club where women have gone missing. She get into the club where basically she is forced to strip naked, wear a collar, and be a sub. Obviously the H is there and gets all “touch her and die” vibes. From there it just gets crazy because the H manipulates, gaslights, and abuses the h throughout the entire book. His need for her complete submission is insane. She keeps saying that she needs to leave, but then she never does!

The h is a doormat. He pretty much decides right away that he wants to marry her and have her carry his babies. Woah boy, calm down. He basically does something worthy of a getting a restraining order filed against him and she is just like oh let me sleep with him so I can try to tame him or whatever.

The scene that super pissed me off because it wasn’t even needed! I’m still not sure how it added anything to the book. The club kidnapped both the H and h because an article she wrote about girls going missing or come out addicts after leaving the club. They want it scrapped, but of course they want payment for the inconvenience. The Dom forces them to have sex for the viewing pleasure of the heads of the club in order to leave. The Dom controls everything in the scenario which I mean, is traumatizing, but for the H, he hated the loss of control. And boy, does he assert that control everywhere after that point.

I really disliked the ending where he suddenly flipped his switch and got soft for the h. She leaves him after she realizes how he has completely taken over her life. He gets more and more crazy about losing her. He spirals and somehow gets even more toxic! Then, his “friend” comes and visits him, hands him a pint of Cherry Garcia ice cream, tells him he needs to “let her go if he really loves her”… and then he just decides to give up control? Without therapy (which he straight up refuses, even in the epilogue)?! Surrrrrre.

Honestly, the whole book was so toxic that I am surprised I made it through. I was hoping that we would have seen more of the soft side of the H, but sadly it never came until the very very end. I thought the plot was pretty stupid and there was a weird “twist” that wasn’t really anything more than like 3 pages. I don’t know if it even qualifies as a twist. More like a huh, weird, okay, next?

Spice level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 (be aware that it’s all Dom/Sun stuff)
Toxic level: 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕜, 𝕋𝕨𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕕, 𝕊𝕥𝕖𝕒𝕞𝕪 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕒 𝕎𝕚𝕝𝕕 𝕣𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕒𝕙𝕖𝕒𝕕.. 𝔸 𝕓𝕠𝕣𝕕𝕖𝕣𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕖 𝕠𝕓𝕤𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕞𝕒𝕟 & 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕠𝕟𝕝𝕪 𝕘𝕚𝕣𝕝 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕕𝕠𝕖𝕤𝕟'𝕥 𝕘𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕙𝕚𝕞 𝕒 𝕪𝕖𝕤. 🥰

I have to say this one had me all over the place with my head spinning.
That title is so perfect and aptly named. You get nothing less but all the more a man who gives the name tyrant rightful justice.

Knox is so frustrating yet infuriatingly hot. He will irk you and yet make you swoon at the same time.
Definitely a hero that had me dancing on the love hate scale as sometimes I couldn't believe the audacity and freaking controlling nature of this man.

Our heroine, Indie, I liked because she's strong and doesn't back down from a strong and influential man like Knox.

This definitely gave me feels of Fifty Shades only if it was much more darker and filthier and yummier (trust me this one is much filthier..🥴🥵🌶️)
As there's a exhibitionism scene, a hero that'll give you shivers with just how raw and rough and is beast like when he's.. Ahem.. Doing the thing with Indie. 🔥🔥🔥

This one was a ride that kept me hooked onto with just how Intense and crazy Knox could be and Indie not accepting his advances and their Chemistry is everything.
Lit my freaking kindle on FIRE 🥵🌶️🔥

When something drastic happens and Indie has to decide which way she'll choose.
Things change and I was so annoyed with Knox and his demanding ways and I was like I don't care what's happened to him in his past, this man is so getting slapped by me.
The man has issues with touch with as simple as kissing he hates. Also, he's so direct in what he wants.

But Yes, the author melted my heart for him even though at the same time I was cursing him just like Indie yet I felt the deep wounds and scars of a man who's never had affection in his life and doesn't even know what it is to be loved.

Be prepared for an unusual but super intense love story thrown in with some suspense and loads and loads of Steam.
I sometimes skim the 🔥scenes but this one, I could hate Knox but definitely couldn't get enough of him just like Indie.

And. That ending. I so can't wait for the next book, Devil, about Indie's sister and that devil Caitan after what he did.

Loved loved this freaking steamy, challenging and yet romantic in its complicated beauty read. Knox and Indie sure rocked my world. 🌶️🌶️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Tyrant is book two in Filthy Rich Villain Trilogy. It's build on the events in Monster, but is a standalone romance. It's a dark second chance romance, enemies-to-lovers, opposite attracts. A stalker romance between an obsessive, OTT nerdy billionaire and a courageous reporter. It's twisted, dark, addictive, fast paced and compelling. An awesome book, extremely intense, captivating interesting and unputdownable. It had the right amount of twists and turns and perfect amount of yum. The story is well written with world building characters and great storyline. Their chemistry sizzles and jump off the pages. Bryan Knox is a reclusive real estate tycoon and tech giant, billionaire who is rumored of having connections to the Italian mafia, thus making him the most dangerous man in the city. Knox is brilliant, gorgeous and menace with his hands over the of Boston. Knox is known for not doing interviews. Indie Starling is reporter and is given the chance of a lifetime to interview Knox.
Indie is beautiful, intelligent, curvaceous brave, and strong-willed. When the two met for the first time the chemistry was physically charged they were attracted to each other. When Indie gets too personal during the interview Knox cut it short. She was ballsy and grabbed his wrist and continued with more line of personal questions. He respected her bravado and slipped his business card in her pocket and told her to give him a call. She was scared of this dangerous and powerful man so she didn't use the card. Indie wanted to get the scoop on a sex trafficking ring so she went to Club Sanctum where she was caught in a compromising position as a submissive Knox was there and none too happy because he was obsessed and possessive of her. The two together is erotic, libidinous and steamy. Knox was abuse as child so that fuel his needs for control in the bedroom. All Indie wants is her independence and for Knox to say three letter words. There's a couple of villains that threatens their relationship. This was a phenomenal story.

2.5 stars, this book was on drugs

That was a rollercoaster, and frankly, I’m still struggling to figure out what this book was supposed to be because it was all over the place. It gave me whiplash. I’m not sure if I even liked the main characters. Knox was supposedly a child genius, but he was ridiculously stupid. Unbelievable that he’s a genius. And Indie was a simpering doormat. She tried to be strong at times, but always capitulated as soon as he touched her in any way.

Also, let’s talk about how this book was a blatant 50 Shades of Grey rip-off. First off, I hated 50 Shades, so I’m not defending that book by any means. But this book had all the same plot points. College student (though Indie apparently just graduated). She met the MMC by landing an exclusive interview with the reclusive business tycoon billionaire. MMC was sexually abused as a minor, causing his extreme adult issues/traumas and OTT need for control, especially with bdsm/in the bedroom. MFC came from a humble background. MFC is a journalist. MMC goes behind her back and buys out her company, takes over, implements changes, fires her boss, gets her ostracized at work, and ruins her professional reputation. Her ex-boss gets pissed at being fired and does something stupid in revenge. MMC has scores of willing females obsessed with him and fawning over him, but somehow the MFC makes such a lasting impression during their initial interview that it spawns his obsession with her. One of the MMC’s fawning/obsessive females goes all crazy and does something crazy. The comparisons just go on and on and on. I won’t be reading book 3.

Giving up 60% in. Struggled with this one from the start, but something kept me reading. In theory, this book should be right up my alley. It has a controlling, domineering and manipulative alpha-hole who is willing to go to all kinds of lengths to get the woman he wants. The woman in question is an independent spitfire, too curious for her own good. There's lots of steam with some BDSM. He gives her a schedule and tries to control every aspect of her life. Sounds great, right? However, the story just didn't flow. The characters' motivations and reactions seem off. Knox is obsessed with Indie, but why? He decides pretty much right away that she would be his future wife and will have his kids. Based on what? At the same time, he seemingly lets her go and is smexx-ing random chicks pretending they're her? Knox is extremely cold and emotionally unavailable because of abuse in his past. Remind you of anyone else we know? The past, by the way, that is completely off limits to everyone, including Indie. However, he just spills all the beans to her pretty abruptly and without much build-up. Indie, on her end, understandably, fights Knox' control, at least outside the bedroom. She fights, and fights, and fights.... Of course, while all this fighting is going on, she just melts every time Knox touches her. Anyway, it's not all bad. As I said, I couldn't stop reading for a while, just waiting for these two to hit their stride as well as intrigued by the suspense. And maybe that all happens in the last 40%, but I'm just done at this point. I have enjoyed the author's other books and had high hopes for this one, but, alas...

Bryan Knox, an orphan, turned billionaire, is a self-made man who knows what he wants and usually gets it with ease. That is until he meets Indie Starling, a reporter at Vanity. She has procured a coveted interview with the illustrious billionaire tyrant. She fails to ignore his rugged good looks and strong presence, but she’s not going to let him know that. They both want each other, but after getting a glimpse of his darker, more controlling side, Indie tries to steer clear. That is until she needs the help that only he can provide.

Vanessa Waltz has done it again! She has given her readers an incredibly intriguing read. Nestled in a world that readers are already familiar with, characters from previous stories sprinkled in made the read more delightful. I love seeing how far Tony has come, and even though he was the voice of reason throughout the book, his darker, more violent self simmers just below the surface.

The layers of each character are slowly revealed and give them a sort of relatability. I appreciated that Indie was strong with a fierce independence that forced her to stand up for herself no matter the cost. Knox’s refusal to live in his past trauma was both endearing and sad, making the reader's feelings yo-yo the entire time. This is especially true when he’s willing to sacrifice it all to protect Indie. There were times when the story slowed a bit, but it did not last long, keeping me engaged. I am so ready for Devil.

Manipulation

I don’t ever write negative reviews, but this one I just can’t get over.

This isn’t a romance story. This is case of narcissistic abuse and manipulation to the highest degree. Because of Indie’s new found desire to be dominated, she confuses that with unwavering control and obedience. Her sister is the only voice of reason in this only to find out that she has her has her own book next with an equally abhorrent man.

The “happy ending” in this is garbage. It was truly trash. Knox didn’t suddenly forget every piece of childhood trauma and start to “love” Indie because Tony gave him a pint of Cherry Garcia and told him to get a hold is his psychotic capabilities. Psychos don’t rationalize and change their behavior at the behest of others. It seemed forced and unrealistic, especially with the time breaks at the end.

I truly abhor this read and what the author made Knox do to Indie. That’s not love but horrific abuse. To parade this around as ok, makes me genuinely sick to my stomach. Being treated like this is abuse. It is not meant to be glorified.

I’m sorry if this upsets the author, that’s never my intention, but I just can’t. Truly can’t with this book. The triggers it brought me make me want to speak to a therapist.

This is the second book in the Villains series. The first book was Monster. This is where I fell in love with the Costa family. And I'm so happy the author kept them a lot in this book. Knox is a complicated man. He has been through his life. He had a ugly horrible childhood, and his just trying to clean house in his neighborhood. The problem is his doing more harm then good. And honestly he doesn't care as long as he makes money that's all that matter to him. He could careless about who his hurting or throwing out on the streets. This is where Indie comes in to turn his world upside down. He thinks she another journalist trying to make him look bad. And he hates when she starts asking him questions about his past. But that doesn't stop Indie she keeps poking the bear until he finally tells her the rules of how its going to be from now on. This book was so good. I really understood where Indie was coming from when it came to some of her discussions about if she wanted to spend her life with Knox. When it came to their love story. I could see both sides of why they felt like they had to keep some walls up. But I'm also so happy that they finally seen the light and both listen to each other. I can't wait to read book 3 that is going to on heck of a story.

Indie starling is surprised, yet elated that Boston’s business Tyrant Bryan Knox has agreed to an interview with her. Fiercely guarded about his life he doesn’t allow many interviews so this is her opportunity to make a name for herself and increase views for Vanity, the online magazine she works for. Although the interview doesn’t quite go to plan when she tries to talk about his past and point out the good in some of his actions.

The only reason Knox agreed to an interview with indie was down to her work portfolio. Never having written anything negative or libel against him, however, he was not prepared to feel something when she reached out to grab his arm, asking her out, he is shocked when she doesn’t immediately fall into his lap. Becoming an obsession to him he attempts to woo her into submission.

After an incident at her apartment, Indie finds herself reaching out to Knox for help. Taking control he scoops her off to his apartment where he schedules her life but wasn’t prepared for the pushback against his decision. As someone who needs control in his life, Knox is not willing to hand over the reins to Indie but love has a way of changing everyone – but will it be for the better or worse?

So I have read the first book in this series and I have to say maybe because this is the second book it just wasn't as good as the first. There are a lot of inconsistencies between facts from the first book and the second. As I read an ARC copy I'm hoping the author fixes these. The hero is a Dominant with a horrible past and some pretty dark deep secrets. He is very much an antihero and his need to be in control can be linked to some unsavory things that happened to him in the past. The heroine just didn't jive at times. There are instances that she does things that don't seem "in character" for her. i thought that Knox's character when he was introduced in Monster was very intriguing and he doesn't disappoint there is mad chemistry between Indie and Knox. Indie's character at times was kind of annoying her "resistance" was a little redundant at times and honestly it got to the point where i was literally skimming her parts. Knox was definitely the draw of this book. Overall not bad once those inconsistencies and some of the grammar/syntax errors get fixed. . Indie a journalist has managed to get an interview with CEO Bryan Knox, known for never giving interviews, arrogant, controlling and hard hearted. Knox soon cuts the interview short when Indie starts asking questions about his personal life and childhood, dismissing her immediately. Despite this he starts pursuing Indie, used to using woman and never seeing them more than once he can’t understand his obsession for Indie. Indie is very attracted to him also but she knows he would be dangerous to her heart and mind, so tells him no. When she is threatened she turns to Knox for help, it comes at a price.
Other books I have read from this author have been light and very humorous, this however is extremely dark, hard hitting, heart stoping and at a times an uncomfortable read. This is because of the descriptive prose and shocking action of some characters.
Knox is a man very similar to Christian in FSOG but even more intense and damaged.
I throughly enjoyed this book, well written and extremely entertaining.
My thanks to Vanessa Waltz for the ARC, this review is my honest opinion.

This is the second standalone book in the Filthy Rich Villains series, and I need a fan & some ice to cool down! Whew! Indie’s a reporter, who tries to interview Bryan Knox for a profile piece. Indie faces off against Knox, unafraid of him. Every interaction is flirty. Indie needs Knox’s help & connections and this leads her down a trafficking rabbit hole. I would have liked to know more about Sanctum-it felt like we were skirting the edges plot wise, so I hope the next book had more about trafficking. I loved Knox and Indie, and how the two of them worked their issues out. There’s lots of steam, push/pull, and an OTT JP guy whose behaviour can’t be tolerated long term. Knox’s backstory created understanding for this complicated man who needed to grow and change for his soulmate. My favourite part of this book were the characterisations, and revisiting Tony & his family from Monster, the first book in the series. Great read.

Indie has managed to do something no other journalist has; she has landed an interview with Bryan Knox. She quickly learns that her fascination with the billionaire known as the Tyrant of Boston could be her downfall. Knox has become obsessed with the pretty journalist Indie Starling, unfortunately while she might write about how any woman would want him, she makes it clear to him that she isn't one of them. But she has crossed the wrong men, and going to Knox for his protection has a steep price.
These characters are fascinating, and well written. Their interactions are sizzling hot, sometimes baffling, and always complicated. I love how the author took the time to write a detailed enough backstory to help the reader understand Knox's action and reactions. Violence, BDSM, and plenty of twists in the plot kept me guessing an completely engrossed in the pages of this book. I loved it!
