Lady Emma Morgan is desperate. After her father's gambling debts leave her family in penury, she settles upon the only solution to preserving her younger sister's chance for future happiness. Already deemed unmarriageable from a scandal in her first season, Emma will sell herself to the highest bidder.
Hart Sutton is a merciless rogue. When he learns of a possible connection between the Earl of Haldringham and his missing brother, Hart puts a plan into motion to ruin the man. He buys the earl's eldest daughter's innocence on the auction block with every intention of destroying her, too.
He never supposed Lady Emma would stir him in a way no woman has before or that he would be thoroughly smitten by her intelligence and loyalty. Much to her surprise, Emma is developing feelings for the gruff, fierce man who takes her under his wing. But with each passing day, the looming truth threatens both their happiness and their carefully shielded hearts.
USA TODAY bestselling author Scarlett Scott writes steamy Victorian and Regency historical romances with strong, intelligent heroines and sexy alpha heroes. She lives in Pennsylvania and Maryland with her Canadian husband, their adorable identical twins, a demanding diva dog, and one zany cat.
As usual Scarlett’s imagination has run wild, and am I pleased about that. Spicy, and delicious with just the right amount of tension to really make it pop.
The Sutton’s are back with a bang, Hart Sutton is a tough cookie. When he’s on a path there’s no diverting him from it. He wants to find his brother, Logan, who the family believes is dead, he has other ideas. Why not buy a lost Lady and force information out of her family by threatening her.
As you can guess there’s a lot more to it than that, the lady herself for one. Some deliciously steamy scenes, and a beautiful woman can only go in one direction.
I adore this series. It’s a descendant of the Wicked Winters. And it’s just as good. Brilliant writing ❤️
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Lady Emma Morgan's father has crippling debts that are about to beggar her family. Already considered ruined from a scandal in her first season, Emma will sell herself to the highest bidder in order to save her sisters. Hart Sutton is on a mission to find his missing brother. When he discovers a possible lead involving Emma's father, the Earl of Haldringham, Hart sets out to buy Emma and use her as leverage. He never counted on an overwhelming attraction!
This is the fourth book in the Sinful Suttons series, which centered around a pack of East End siblings and their gaming hell. I was able to read this book without reading the rest of the series, but there are rivalries and a missing sibling that I am guessing overarches through all the books.
Emma is willing to sacrifice herself for her family and is sold to Hart for one week. She expects to be nervous and terrified, but quickly feels a spark of attraction that has her seeking out his touch. Hart initially plans not to bed her (...nope, wrong dude...) and then thinks it'll just be the one time to get her out of his system (...hilarious and wrong again!). But of course, he falls for her sweet-but-strong nature and fierce loyalty.
This was a quick and enjoyable read, and I really loved that it featured one of my favorite tropes: auctioned/gambled/sold. I thought the balance between the romance and the other intrigues worked well, but I would have liked just a little more focus on the heroine. As always, Scarlett Scott brings plenty of steamy goodness!
Tropes: Auctioned/Gambled/Sold, Ruined, Revenge
Steam: 4
* I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
Lady Emma Morgan can only save her father, the Earl of Hildringham, by selling her virtue. She is already considered ruined when she is caught kissing Lord Vincent at a ball and his refusal to offer marriage. Emma does not know the auction at The Sinners Palace was set up by Hart Sutton. She is just a pawn for him to find out any information from her father about his missing brother assumed dead. Emma maybe just a pawn, but she falls in love with Hart. He never thought he would find love, until Emma's sweetness and kindness breaks down his barriers. Soon Hart must decide who is more important, his brother or Emma. Don't pass up reading this series. Heat level 5 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 .
I enjoy Scarlett Scott’s books. This would’ve been four stars had Emma not had a TSTL moment. She lost my respect then. The plot of this one was quite implausible. Was it a regular occurrence for ruined ladies to auction their virginity? Interesting premise, nonetheless.
I felt so bad for Emma. Her father was a complete failure and certainly did not deserve forgiveness or redemption for selling off his oldest daughter, despite the fact that she was already ruined. He never got his comeuppance, which bothered me.
I liked Hart’s character. He wasn’t a sexist ass. I would’ve enjoyed a bit more angst between the two MC’s. Everything came together too easily. The conflict was too quickly resolved and Hart was quick to bend over backward for Emma in every way. It was a quick read that was high on steam, but low on angst.

- Yet another cute Sutton story. That's the only description I could come up with, cute. - Romance, steam, characters, all are on point. - Loved the simplicity of the hero & heroine. - The "auctioned off" trope thread felt a little loose. - It ended on a cliffhanger, and now I have to wait a few months to know what happens next...Ah, hate that.
It is a Scarlett Scott and one of the Suttons, you cannot go wrong with this!
Plot was Dead. MCs were one dimensional. “Bleeding” is my new least favorite word
The female protagonist did not seem like a real person, let alone a virginal lady who lived in the 1800s. The plot (that she sold herself to protect her sister) was pretty much erased halfway into the story. Every relationship in the book could have been expanded (her between her sisters, his relationship between his siblings, their relationship between themselves.) The male protagonist was a horny jerk the whole time with no redeeming quality other than his growing love/lust and him being family-oriented. The female protagonist was extremely naive, childlike, and caring. (If you want a weak female lead with no goals in life other than making everyone around her happy, then you’ll like this book.) Other than those character traits there was nothing of depth. After I finished reading I could not understand what was the point of the book? What was the purpose of him buying her for sex when there seemed to be better and easier ways to find information about his brother, Logan. I get you need a plot, but is was ridiculous. One extra star for the sex scenes. It was the only connection these characters seemed to have.
I love the Suttons. They are a perfectly scandalous family with so much love and honor. I know they run a gambling den but they are all honorable. Hart buys Lady Emma's innocence one night at a brothel due to her Fathers gambling debts. I can't believe her Father even asked her to but it brought her to Hart at least and he was wonderful. He has no idea of taking it but he is trying to find his brother who is missing and she is an integral part of his plot. Her books are quite steamy. I slim over them but there is no doubt that they have smoking hot chemistry. I just loved how quickly they fell in love and there were no games played really and they just were so good together. I love This series as much as I loved the Winters. Can't wait for the next one!
Sinful - definitely; Hart Sutton is a rogue of the first order. Innocent -Lady Emma Morgan is trying to help her family by selling her virginity. Hart buys her, but intends to keep her safe and only use her to find his brother. Loved this addition to the Sinful Sutton's series (but can be read as a standalone). Ms. Scott's stories pull you in and you never want to leave.
Lady Emma Morgan is desperate. After her father’s gambling debts leave her family in penury, he suggests the only solution to preserving her younger sister’s chance for future happiness. Already deemed unmarriageable from a scandal in her first season, Emma will sell herself to the highest bidder. Hart Sutton is a merciless rogue. When he learns of a possible connection between the Earl of Haldringham and his missing brother Logan, Hart puts a plan into motion to ruin the man. He buys the earl’s eldest daughter’s innocence on the auction block with every intention of destroying her, too. But as the saying goes the best laid plans… The author has done it yet again, a totally riveting, engrossing, captivating & enthralling read. Did I love it? – yes. Could I put it down? – no (thanks again for making me burn the midnight oil!). Hart & Emma were perfect for each other, poles apart but sizzling together. There’s danger, lies & the mysterious disappearance of Logan. I can’t wait for the next in the series My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Lady Emma Morgan eldest daughter of the Earl of Holdringham was a diamond of the first water until she was caught kissing a Viscount. Lord Vincent did not offer for her, so she was considered a compromised women and no longer welcomed by the Ton.
Emma's father has incurred and outlandish amount of gaming debts. He has lost everything. Now Emma must sale her virginity to the highest bidder.
Hart Sutton believes the Earl of Holdringham knows what happen to his missing brother Logen and to get the truth of his involvement in Logans disappearance he calls in all of the Earls debts. Hart wins the bid at the auction for Lady Emma and they will spend on week together. This is revenge on her father for having something to do with Logans disappearance.
Emma and Hart embark on one erotic, sensual romance. Its page of page of hot sex. Not to much story so I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. I came to really like Hart and Emma.
I read this series out of order. Now I have to go back and read the first 3 books.
Let's see all you need to know is that I have added Hart Sutton to my book boyfriend harem.
Yes, I love him.
Fine, he has a heroine. Emma is kind, caring, smart, and fine - she deserves him.
But Hart is everything in a BBF:
Alpha-possessive Drag him to his feelings Did I mention alpha-possessive?
Once again Scarlett checks all the boxes in this latest edition of the Sutton series. I think the thing that amazes me about her storytelling is in these shorter novels, she packs alot of story. There is mystery, spicy times, head over heels falling in love, and family.
Start with book 1 - each one builds to the other. And bring on the next Sutton!
Mr Hart Sutton is desperate to find his brother Logan, who is missing, presumed dead. When he learns of a connection to the Earl of Haldringham, he hatches a plan to use the man’s daughter to force the Earl to reveal what he knows.
Lady Emma Morgan, daughter of the Earl of Haldringham, has been ruined. When she then discovers that her father has gambled everything away, she has no choice but to agree to having her virtue auctioned in an effort to protect her sisters’ future and clear her father’s debts.
When Hart wins the auction and takes Emma back to his family’s gambling hell to await the next step in his plan, things start to go awry. Emma is determined that he takes what he has paid for, Hart is determined to continue with his plan as originally mapped out and leave her untouched. When a mutual attraction brews between them will Hart be able to resist?
With sizzling chemistry between the characters, a violent run-in with a rival East End family, a kidnapping and the fallout from the unveiling of Hart’s plans, this is another action packed, must read book from Scarlett Scott.
With 4+ detailed, on-page love scenes, this is a hot and steamy read almost from start to finish. A most welcome addition to the Sinful Suttons series.
This author is a bit hit or miss for me and it’s been a while since I’ve read anything by her. (One of the reasons i avoid her books is her penchant for unfaithful manwhore heroes and non-virgin heroines, two tropes I fucking despise.) however after being inundated by an ad for this book, I decided to give it a try. The hero is the tired, typical manwhore, but thankfully there weren’t too many details of his past and there’s no ow drama.
He is on a quest to find out what happened to his missing brother and that quest leads him to the heroine—and using her as a pawn. He has no intention of falling for her and to his credit, he had no intention of sexually using her—he never expects to be consumed by desire and passion for her and both of them can’t resist the other.
I loved the heroine. She was sweet and feisty without being annoying. I also loved how her gentleness and caring melted the hardness of the hero’s heart.
Safe. Hero’s past is mentioned but no explicit details are given. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to the hero. No ow/om, no cheating or sharing or abuse of any kind. HEA with epilogue
Another addicting story in Sutton series, I was gravitated towards the story from the prologue to epilogue.
Revenge turns to love.
Hart wants nothing more than to find his brother but to do so he must use Emma, it seemed like a perfect plan until a kiss and stolen night of passion then he knew that he couldn't betray her not even if meant not finding his brother.
Hart and Emma's connection just flies straight through the book.
I can't say enough about this book other than you definitely won't be disappointed with it. That's my favorite thing about this Author she never fails to deliver an amazing story with steam, suspense, humor, love and happily ever after.
I definitely look forward to the next book in this series.
I received this as a gift from the Author in exchange for an honest review and these are purely my thoughts and no one else's views.
Emma and Hart captured my heart. Two very stubborn, strong characters, caught in a situation neither want to be in. I loved her strength and gentleness. The loyalty and bravery she showed to help her family. His inner conflict over needing to find his brother and using this woman to do so was well written and I enjoyed his struggle and refusal to give in to the tender feelings she made him have. He lost his heart and in doing so, gained everything he needed to be happy. A thoroughly enjoyable read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.. But in this instance, it heats up very quick!
Scarlett brings us another impressive Sutton and this time it is Hart, a tough scoundrel who only wants to find his brother and get his revenge. Only his plan involves a woman connected to the villain who is on his radar.
Lady Emma is determined to earn some money to help her sister, since her gambling father has left them in a fix. She basically sells her self off but what she never expected was Hart.
Suspense, angst, a strong heroine and a determined hero make this story an exciting success!
Lady Emma might seem like a sweet humble lady but nay, nay, she is much more than that. I love that Scarlett wrote her with gumption and a no holds barred badass woman. Hart and Emma’s story is one of insta-lust but also slow learning of each other. Why is it that we are drawn to a story with a gruff loyal hero and a sweet loyal but not a walkover heroine? Because we love the dichotomy. This beautiful story of sacrifice is a joy to read.
Gosh, I regret wasting my time. The word that came to mind throughout and persisted till the end was “insipid”; the writing, the characters, the plot. All had great potential.
I don’t think this writer is for me. The way she describes anything saps potency, — for me. The execution is one of the weakest I’ve encountered in my journey through historical romances.
OMG this series keeps getting better and better! I’m obsessed with these Sutton’s! Already deemed unmarriageable from a scandal in her first season, Lady Emma Morgan will sell herself to the highest bidder to preserve her younger sister’s chance for future happiness. Hart Sutton is a merciless rogue. When he learns of a possible connection between the Earl of Haldringham and his missing brother, Hart puts a plan into motion to ruin the man. He buys the earl’s eldest daughter’s innocence on the auction block with every intention of destroying her, too. He never supposed he would be thoroughly smitten by her intelligence and loyalty. Much to her surprise, Emma is developing feelings for the gruff, fierce man who takes her under his wing. But with each passing day, the looming truth threatens both their happiness and their carefully shielded hearts. I couldn’t stop reading this book!! SO GOOD! Emma is smart and sweet. So sweet that’s impossible not to love her. I enjoy this kind of female characters a lot: the ones who are strong and resilient, but also compassionate and tender. Hart is super-hot and he is enchanted by her since the first moment. The chemistry is off the chart, the sexy times AMAZING and the dialogs witty and page-turner. Another masterpiece from an amazing author. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is such a beautiful storyline! I fell in love with the main characters. Lady Emma Morgan, daughter of the Earl of Haldringham. Hart Sutton is one of the handsome Sutton’s brothers. This is a wonderful, well written historical romance, with great attention to details. Fast paced romance with instant attraction in every way. Hart has possession of Emma due to him bidding for her, and the reasons for this is that you really have to and should read this book, read the series! The Suttons own a successful and well known gaming hell in the East End of London. Hart has information that the Earl may know about their missing brother. As the storyline progresses the innocent and beautiful Emma falls in love with Hart, and so does he! Great secondary characters! Steamy and well written love scenes. But, circumstances may permanently separate them. Revenge for Hart turns to a loving passionate romance. And a wonderfully beautiful ending ❤️. I always Love Scarlett Scott’s books, they are always an amazing and addictive read.
A nonstop page-turning delight!!!! A great installment to the Sinful Sutton Series. Hart Sutton is determined to find his lost brother Logan by any means necessary. This includes buying an earl's daughter's innocence for information. Lady Emma Morgan will do anything to help her sisters and her father out of his debts, including selling herself. Both Hart and Emma felt an instant connection that neither expected. The gruff Hart is softened by the sweet, intelligent, and caring Emma. The attraction leads to some steamy love scenes. Hart had every intention of ruining Emma but found himself falling for her. But can she ever forgive him for deceiving her? The mystery of the lost brother Logan adds to the story and some surprises are at the end of the book. You will absolutely love this book. This author never disappoints. I can't wait for the next book, Sutton's Scoundrel, featuring Wolf Sutton and Lady Portia Fairhaven. I received an ARC of this book and is my honest review.
This book just sucked me right in from the beginning. Maybe because I absolutely love the Suttons. My heart ached for Emma at times. Especially when she chose to sacrificed her innocence to save her sisters. Hart Sutton has always been somewhat heartless so seeing him with Emma was a nice surprise. What wasn't a suprise was he was willing to do anything to find his missing brother, Logan. I was engrossed in this book. The passion in this book is scorching hot. It amazes me that Scarlett Scott has written so many books, yet still makes each one so unique. I am looking forward to the books of the last three Sutton siblings. I am intrigued by what Lily has been up to. This is a series I will read again.
Hart is on the hunt to find out what happened to his brother. Emma signs up to be a man's companion for a week to help pay back her father's debts..
What starts out as a mean to get information for Hart turns into a fiery relationship between him and Emma! Their attraction to each other is strong from their first meeting. It only gets stronger the longer their together! I love how we're getting more story info on the lost brother throughout this series!!
Scarlett writes some exceptional strong heroines, and this one didn't disappoint!
This book doesn’t have a plot. Rather, the transparently thin plot takes less than 1 chapter to resolve off page and the remainder of the book is dedicated to salacious, explicit sexual scenarios. If Hart had a conversation with the Earl at the start of the book or any of the months he spent trying to ruin the Earl prior to the start of the book, there would be no plot at all. The author doesn’t get into how or why Emma was supposedly ruined and the ensuing scandal. Some Viscount kissed her at some point in the past, then he didn’t marry her. The author skipped right over the part where someone would have to have known about the kiss for there to be a scandal. And when did this happen? A week ago? A year ago? The book picks up with Emma dressed like a courtesan, working in a brothel. She has no reaction to the kiss, the scandal, parading around half-nude in front of perverts, being in a brothel, moving to a casino. She has no thoughts or feelings about any of it.
As usual Scarlett Scott has written another very good story. Lady Emma is desperately seeking a way out of her father's gambling debts.A East End rogue collides with a lady he has vowed to ruin in this wickedly steamy Regency romance from USA Today bestselling author Scarlett Scott. Lady Emma Morgan is desperate. After her father's gambling debts leave her family in penury, she settles upon the only solution to preserving her younger sister's chance for future happiness. Already deemed unmarriageable from a past scandal, Emma will sell herself to the highest bidder. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
As always, Scarlett Scott writes intrigue and steamy stories like no other author. In this 4th book of the series, Hart Sutton is on the path to finding his missing brother and he suspects Emma's father has something to do with it. Emma, who has been considered ruined by society decides to auction herself off to help her father's debts. She is won by Hart and is his for one week.
There is so much juicy dialogue and give and take between these two, the seduction of both of them was fun to see. And of course, the steam is off the charts and well played. Hart is such a gentleman despite the outward persona he tries to display, and his inner turmoil was well done. My dislikes- it was on the shorter side but that said, the story flowed well enough along. There is a fair amount of repetition of thoughts/facts all throughout the book. I'm the type that I don't need to be reminded chapter after chapter about who is who and their past and their goal.
This was a very enjoyable read. I had just started the series with the third book but each can be a stand-alone. I recommend all of Ms. Scott's novels but the Sutton series has to be tops. I received an advanced copy of the book and I am voluntarily giving a review.
A Sutton story never fails to deliver heat, passion & undeniable love. Hart Sutton is not a man to be tamed, but even he can’t resist when faced with an angel, Lady Emma Haldringham. Though brought together by dubious means and deception, the love story that unfolds between these two is fierce and hot! I loved watching Emma conquer the wild ways of Hart Sutton. He was truly helpless when it came to the temptations he put himself through, which made it all the more satisfying to see him struggle. He had no one to blame but himself, so once he realized he was truly in love, it was the purest justice for his misdeeds. As always, Scarlett Scott brings us love through unbridled passion and heat. And the cherry on top, is the ongoing mystery that is Logan Sutton. Another clue, leaving us just as lost but plenty eager to hear his tale.
Lady Emma Morgan’s reputation is already ruined so when she found out her father who lost everything she asked what she could do to save her family and her two sisters’ future. Hart Sutton is on a mission to find his lost brother Logan and his trail leads him to a virgin auction of the Earl of Haldringham’s daughter Lady Emma Morgan. A captivating story as Hart sets out to buy Emma, make her father suffer and use her as leverage to gain information about his missing brother. Hart didn’t believe he’s fall for the fancy lady with the golden hair of an angel, now what’s a man to do? Will she forgive him when she learns the truth? Will their love be strong enough to weather any storm? I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.
These Sutton men just keep getting better, the heroines are stronger and the stories are addictive. This is a fabulous and steamy romance but with humor, danger, mystery and some dirty talk to round out all of it, I love the East End tough guy, Hart Sutton put up against the Ton's sweet daughter of an Earl, Lady Emma Morgan - be prepared when these two meet and the steam explodes and so many feelings arise for both of them. I highly recommend this book and the entire series - they are steamy, page turning entertainment!
I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
