After reading Omegaverse stories from Addison Cain and Nora Ash, I had the idea for The Omega Prize and decided to take a shot at writing a book of my own. The beginning was rough, it took two months to write the first five chapters, but as my 2019 New Year’s resolution I said I was going to finish the story and committed to writing every day. It didn't take long for the book to begin telling itself, and from there I just kept going.
All of my books are Omegaverse, but they span settings from Sci-Fi, dystopian, and historical barbarians. There is even a small-town Enemies to Lovers Romance story in there. They main contain dark elements but I wouldn't call them dark romance since my alphas tend to be a little mushy in the center. I promise there's always a HEA.

3.5 Alpha Twenty-Eight Stars ⭐
Hired for Heat was a different take on the Omegaverse set in the modern world. Usually it's alphas that reign, yet in this instance they've been stripped of their rights to control their urges. Essentially prisoners, their lives have been reduced to either manual labour or studs; a hired service for the wealthy omegas.
Austin has accepted his fate. Choosing not to dwell on his life of servitude, being a stud is merely a diversion till he's put out to pasture. A realist, he's never seen the appeal of bonding with an Omega until it's his new reality.
“You want to be sure I’m okay with being the first Alpha to fuck you during your heat? Is that what you’re asking?”
Choosing to use The Haven for her heat cycle, Sandra hadn't expected Austin to completely change her perception of Alphas. Believing she would just walk away once she'd been serviced, gaining a mate after the best sexual experience of her life is unexpected and unplanned.
“You may be the one in charge out there, omega, but this is my time. You will submit to me.”
This was completely panty melting and exactly what I would expect from a smutastic read from this genre. You gotta love the whole mating heat and getting your brains banged for a week to get you through it!? Austin was the perfect Alpha. The law may have neutered his balls (hypothetically) but he was all caveman. Oh and the story was good too!!

This was a nice twist on the usual M/F Omegaverse trope.
With Alphas labelled as volatile and a potential danger to society, their freedom/choices in life are strictly controlled. Some of the lucky ones avoid hard labor camps and are used as studs in high-end establishments to 'help' Omegas through their heat cycles.
Austin is one such Alpha, and Sandra is the Omega who 'hires' him.
I won't give the main plot conflict away, but I liked this one quite a bit. The author's writing style is very smooth and easy to follow, and I found the story engaging, and full of emotion and hot, sexy times.
My only complaint is that the ending lacked a bit of oomph, but overall this was a very solid read!

I love this new spin on Omegaverse. In this setting Alphas are locked up and kept separate from more "civilized" citizens. Omegas get to go to spa like facilities to pick out an alpha to help them through their heat. I liked seeing the dynamics flipped on their heads. Great start to this series.

Such an interesting take on the Alpha/Omega pairing! In this case Alphas are put into camps with the best selected for houses that afford them the opportunity to be hired as a stud! The Omega here is a wealthy woman with her own business who decides to hire an Alpha for her heat. An accidental bonding leads to an unexpected mating

1)I liked the concept but the execution left a lot of dead air. After the h/H went through her heat we go through lots of pages of them going through withdrawal from the accidental bonding without much else happening. I skimmed quite a bit of the middle until they eventually figured out what was going on and end up reunited.
2)I was a bit unsure because I'd have hated if the situation was a usual for him but thankfully it was his first time hired out and his first with an Omega. Her first with an Alpha too.(thank you Author)
3)All the usual deliciousness of the Omegaverse without the usual submission expected of Omega. I really enjoyed the fact that this h was her own woman, she was able to submit in the bedroom but still be the boss of her own shit outside. After reading some Omegaverse with the h really suffering this one was refreshing.
4)All in all my first read by this author and even though the middle flopped a bit I'm moving on to the next.

I loved this story,which is about alphas and omegas..it was fast pacing and quick to get to the naughty bits..
I loved Austin and Sandra and I felt sorry for how the alphas are treated,😔
But I am happy to a see there is a series of this..and I definitely want to read more of the alphas and read their happy endings 🥰
I was hoping the series would carry on from this actual story,with the town that Sandra and Austin are building for alphas,but looking at number 2 in this series,it doesn’t look like it,but I will check it out to see 😊

Not your typical omegaverse. Alphas are restrained in camps and used only for tending to omegas and betas are the people in charge. Quite intriguing. And the plot was interesting. At least it started that way. Then throughout the story I expected more emotion, angst, something at least but I was disappointed.

A very different take on the omegaverse world
A lot of the MF omegaverse stories out there are quite dark, but not this one. In Hired for Heat Leann Ryans has put a whole new twist on the dynamic by writing a world where the Beta's are pretty much in charge and Alpha's are segregated from the rest of society. I very much enjoyed the world building in this story and can't wait to discover what journey the author will take us on. I'm already looking forward to reading more books set in this world.
Sandra is a successful businesswoman who has refused to let her omega dynamic hold her back or restrict her life. Curiosity leads her to using the services of an Alpha-for-hire facility during her next heat. It's at the facility that she meets Austin, an alpha resigned to his fate of never being free. His hopes are to make some good memories before he spends the rest of his life in one of the Alpha Camps. Things don't go quite as planned, leaving Sandra and Austin fighting for the chance to be together.
Both characters are very easy to like, they share an amazing chemistry and you can feel their emotions. I totally felt their pain at being separated, the almost physical agony this caused them was so well portrayed. The pace of the story is perfect, the plot moves along with enough speed to maintain your interest and I soon found myself caught up in the wonderful story line. Between wondering what would happen next, fearing for a HEA and perplexed as to how Sandra and Austin would even find their way back to each other I just couldn't read this story quickly enough.
This book is perfect for those who enjoy omegaverse stories, with their different dynamics, omega heats and alpha knots, but who are not so bothered by it being dark. It's also one that I'm happy to recommend.

Not my type of omegaverse
Omegaverse for me is an escape from the mountain of responsibility I have as head of the household and professional life so a strong powerful alpha that takes me away from that and takes care of me is what I look for. This book was closer to my real life than I usually get from this genre. Additionally, there was too much detail about Sandra's job. I found myself skipping through the day to day minutia of her job detail. When Austin would take control, it was laughable because she is basically supporting him and taking care of all the business. This is exactly what I crave TO GET AWAY FROM! All in all, very disappointed with this purchase.

I'm not accustomed to the Omegaverse's unique concept where alphas have no power and hold the lowest status in society. They were treated like prisoners just for having the alpha trait. Despite being dominant, their faith is controlled by Omegas who will choose to bond with them for life. I'm unclear on how they live post-bonding; it seems like they're under the protection of Omegas. I'm struggling to shake off my preconceptions. Overall, it's an okay read with definite smut, but I don't sense true love or mate connection, except for accidental bonds leading to a decision to give it a shot

Fab book. I did not put this down. Really Enjoyed reading this.
So this book is not your typical damsel in distress book. I love that this is almost switched around in a sense.. I wont say more here as you know... spoilers, but this really is an interesting read.
Sandra is an intelligent, Successful Omega, who goes to a centre to hire and Alpha to tend her needs during her heat. I love them chemistry between the Characters and think the relationship was written really well.
I really loved this story and it will be one that I read over and over again. Well done Leann on another fantastic read!

I love the different take on Omegaverse! I had a hard time putting this book down! This one is super hot, but also has great world building. And you get both points of view through out the book.
There is a section where the main characters aren't together but it didn't take away from the story for me. And I love how it is the Omega who is super successful. And Alphas aspire to get omegas to choose them for a mating. Or to get as far ahead as they can in the Alpha Camps. I highly enjoyed this world and can't wait to see what else this author will do in it!

Unique storyline but needs to be more interesting. It wasn't a book I couldn't put down and it took me a while to get through but I like the structure of the plot. I stopped about 45% in and when I started it again I finished the rest in one sitting.

Was in the mood for some knots, dripping holes, and secondary genders. AKA omegaverse.
Saw this title being thrown around on the romance book subreddit and thought, yeah, let's give it a shot.
What did I like?
* Alphas are the "lowest" class. In a lot of omegaverse alphas are the dominant elite while omegas can barely find work and live in poverty. I don't mind these set ups but I do find ones like this that do something different more interesting. It reminded me a little of Killer. Where alphas were also shipped off and kept seperate from most of society.
* Sandra was delightfully confident in her work and curiosity. She was no wilting flower. I also liked that for ONCE the omega was not a virgin. Thank you! (nothing wrong if you enjoy that I just generally hate this pedestal of purity women are often still put on in romance)
* I liked that Sandra decided to do something to help alphas. Even if it was left mostly as a thing going on in the background and wasn't super fleshed out. Honestly would've liked to see her confront the oppression of alphas more. And the way she was so surprised at their poor living standards and rights was pretty... grating? She felt very priviledged and blissfully ignorant to me. But at least she was doing something about it at the end, and honestly it's romance. I shouldn't put so much weight on this stuff.
* The MCs spend a lot of time apart in the story but I actually enjoyed getting to see them act as people seperately. The main conflict of "will they find each other" was entertaining to me.
* Rich, highly educated heroine and trade (carpentry) hero
What didn't I like?
* Their feelings felt hollow. They had almost no interaction before . And after it was basically insta love.
* Maledom (BDSM with male dominant). Look, this wasn't bad. I'm sure this will actually be a plus for a lot of people. I just don't enjoy maledom. I tolerate it at best and this was very much my experience again. Some parts of the sex I found hot but I kept wanting Sandra to flip him over and fuck his brains out. SPANK HIM. That's not this story though and I knew it going in.
* It seemed like women were either omegas or betas, and men were either alphas or betas? I really dislike that. One of the core things I enjoy about omegaverse is the way the secondary gender (alpha/beta/omega) can really challenge gender roles in a story. I maintain that omegaverse can be one of the most queer story telling tropes if done right. Where else will I find a cis-man impregnated by a cis-woman? So while it was left a little vague. The story always spoke of omegas as being women. And The Haven (the alpha brothel basically) only had men it seemed. I really disliked that part.

It was enjoyable, especially in the beginning, but dragged towards the end for me. Giving it 3,5 stars.

This book starts off really great. But after an accidental partial bond, the pair spends way too much of the book apart and I was losing interest. Then, after she tracks him down I was like “finally! We’ll get some sort of forced proximity relationship development !”
But nope… we get pages and pages of bureaucracy. Still no real relationship development.
Overall, kind of a snooze - a bummer because the premise & first 25% was really intriguing.

This book was a really, quick and steamy read. I love Omegaverse books, and this book satisfied the itch for an omegaverse book. Was it anything groundbreaking? No. But it was really fun to read.

What a lovely story! In Hired for Heat, Leann Ryans provides us with solid characters, including the strong-willed and independent Omega, Sandra, and an equally strong-willed Alpha, Austin. The author’s take on the OV genre rotates 180-degrees away from the norm. It’s an outlier because the Alpha dynamic is not given free-rein in this society. If an Alpha is not bonded/mated, he must live under containment in a “camp.” They can’t live freely in the general population. Unmated Alphas are 2nd class citizens. Also in this world, if an unmated Omega needs an Alpha to “tend” her during her heats, she must hire one. And, of course, there are companies that cater to this need. One is The Haven. This is where Sandra meets her Alpha, Austin, and where their beautiful tale begins. Ryans’ plot is consistent throughout, solely focused on the two main characters’ lives and problems. I found that the obstacles Sandra and Austin faced kept my attention locked on this book til the end. Although Ryans didn’t describe their relationship as being preordained, in my mind their meeting and mating was almost fated. There was a serendipitous quality to events that brought them together. Although Haven staff had warned her against it, Sandra was drawn to choosing Austin, for a reason even she couldn’t fully understand. And then, a minor accident occurs during her heat that allows for them to bond, although they did not exchange mating bites. Over the careening path that followed their time together, love found a way. Sweet, sweet story. I say 5 stars, and I’m eager to get more from Ms. Ryans.

Sorry but it didn't work for me
Ok so in this world omega's and beta's can come and go as they please but alpha's are segregated kept locked away in camps. The highest a alpha could even try and go is to become a stud. The idea seemed okay at first but the more I read the more it just didn't seem to work for me first of all alphas are suppose to be the biggest baddest and I don't care if they have stun guns or whatever get enough alphas together and they could over power the beta's so that was the first thing. Second at the end of the book she had bought her own piece of land and was going to build her own little city where alpha, beta, and omega could live how they choose. How in the heck is she gonna do that if every alpha is locked up in these camps? The only way she got her alpha out is because she bonded with him it's not like they're gonna release a couple for a trial experiment so yeah the story was really stupid in my opinion sorry

Leann Ryans is surely turning herself into a force to be reckoned with in the MF Omegaverse genre. I've enjoyed her other books, but this one totally sets things on their head and flips it around, in the very best way.
Sandra is a very successful Omega who has decided she wants to hire an Alpha to help get her through her next heat, so she goes to Haven, which is the absolute best stud service in town. Austin is an Alpha who had a rough time settling in, but then Sandra shows up and he tends her through her heat, and they have a great time together.
The reason that this flips the trope on its head is because it is generally the Omegas who are restrained or segregated for the good of society, but that's not the case here. I found it to be an entirely unique POV on the Omegaverse, and loved how it worked.
I can't wait for more in this world.

I was pleasantly surprised by the different approach this author has taken with this omegaverse romance & I absolutely enjoyed reading it. I found the world building & the descriptions splendidly well-done & the plot is well-written & intriguing, it definitely keeps the reader’s attention. The characters have unique personalities & continue to develop throughout a well-paced story-line.
There is: a successful & intelligent omega (Sandra) goes to a alpha center to hire an alpha to tend to her during her heat & she gets an alpha (Austin) who wants some memories & not a mate but these two people do not realize that “what you want is not what you get”, some twists, intrigue, drama, a stud haven, heat issues, longings, conflict, accidentally bonding, choices, discovery, ultimatums, administrative requests, plans, hope, steamy scenes & love. I would recommend this book .

This book is quite interesting as the author doesn't follow the usual Omegaverse settings that you see in a lot of the other books in this genre. It really makes you think about things from a totally different perspective, especially in terms of power dynamics. It's really quite refreshing actually. Don't get me wrong, all the other things that we Omegaverse fans enjoys about this genre is still there. It just threw me (in a good way) for a bit at the beginning since I was expecting the same power play. This also shines a new light at Omegas in general. I like seeing how this different perspective affects them in this universe that the author has set for us. We get to see this particular Omega, Sandra, shine, while our Alpha, Austin, struggle. I really did enjoy this book and hope other readers do too. Looking forward to the next one!

This is like no other Omegaverse book that I have read. Very unique, very different. In this world the Alpha isn’t on top.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s a very nice change of pace from the other Omegaverse I have read. It’s not dark, which many are. So, that is refreshing in itself.
There are a few scenes that I didn’t care for that caused me to give the four star instead of five star review.
It’s has an HEA and is not a cliffhanger - which is very nice!
Overall, I think this author has a great talent for a different type of Omegaverse and I will certainly read more from her.

Omegaverse Virgin, completely hooked.
I have never read about omegaverse before, and I am so glad I gave it a go. I read it all in one sitting, I couldn't put it down, not even to eat or drink.
This book is amazing, it's filled with drama, romance, love and steamy scenes that will knock your clothes, shoes, socks, panties, bra, hell even your hair off.
I'm off to have a cold shower now, hopefully, I can keep the thoughts of hunky Austin out of my head long enough to cool off.
Well done Leann Ryans, you have created an amazing world full of fantastic and unique characters. I take my hat off to you, and look forward to reading all of your work.

Sandra is a successful omega business owner nearing her 30s. She wants to try renting an alpha to help her through her monthly heat cycles, because alphas in her society are only either sex or menial workers. She meets Austin there and they end up accidentally forming a mate-bond.
I wish there was more of a romance. It seemed like a thing of convenience to me because they didn’t really know each other at all before the bond happened, besides 1 weird scene of bantering.
Besides that, the sex was fairly good. Austin did a bit of dirty talk. Plot was boring to me though.
I likely wouldn’t reread but I would recommend it if you were in a saucy mood and wanted some omegaverse action.

So this is all I’m going to say about Hired For Heat and that is I absolutely loved this story!
This is actually my first time reading anything by Leann Ryans and I gotta say I’ll definitely be reading more of her work in the future because this book left me wanting and needing more because it was amazing as heck!
So it’s a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend Hired For Heat to anyone searching for a steamy story to get lost in.

A captivating & interesting read! This book is a twist to the traditional omagaverse novels out there. The alphas are the social outcast this time, while the omegas are in with the betas. The characters were likable and the plot was really good. The romance and sex was just hot stuff. Would totally recommend.

I loved this book! A new take on omegaverse and it was fantastic! Strong alpha who was also a caring alpha. Strong independent omega with a serious determination. I highly recommend this novel, you won’t be disappointed. I rec’d this book as an ARC.
