How can one not love the doomed story of the Witchslayer? His heart broken with the loss of his mother and brother, needing to hide who HE really is in a land that will kill him if they find out. And then to see that future that he is sure is not real, because it can't be now, can it? We see what moves Renwick's actions and how he became the fae that we meet in The High Mountain Court and The Witches Blade. Brilliantly written!
From meeting Renwick in The High Mountain Court, to getting to know him more in The Witches Blade and now with this novella, he is just a character I cannot wait to see more of. I really enjoyed this short little insight into his life before and would have happily read more to keep finding out more. Great addition to the series!
This was a beautiful addition to the Okirth series. It's explains perfectly Renwicks entire character and drive, as well as a number of events references in The Witches Blade. I do with it had been a little longer and included a few scenes from The High Mountain Court, because I think those from Renwicks perspective would have been amazing, but it is the backstory we wanted and the backstory that goes hand in hand with The Witches Blade perfectly.
These novellas are the heart of this series, and I can say with brutal honesty that I would not keep going through the series if the novellas didn't keep pulling me back in.
This Novella is everything that I was missing from The Witches Blade. My biggest complaint with that book was that I couldn't connect with Rua, and I wanted more from Renwick's pov. Ask and you shall receive.
I loved this. I loved getting his back story. I loved learning more of where his Witchslayer name came from, I loved learning more about his powers. I wish so much that this could have been implemented more into book 2.
Renwick is one of my favorite fantasy characters EVER! His struggle to survive is absolutely intoxicating. You can’t help but feel for him and love him despite all the bad thing he has to do. Love love love this backstory!!
An excellent novella that delves into the backstory of Renwick, a character from the High Mountain Court novel. If anyone around him knew what he has done in the past, he will be dead, or worse. The author shows her powers as a great character developer as she masterfully creates the backstory full of excellent and diverse characters, build the enchanted world further than what we knew, and pack it all in an intriguing and hard to put down story. This is certainly a story to read and be absorbed in this world.
I loved this short story of Renwick!!! Now I see why he got the nickname “Witchslayer”. He is a survivor and had to do things he didn’t want to in order to live in that toxic family he was born into and to think those vision he got gave some hope to look forward to that future he thought🤔 he will never see. I’m glad he a least had Thador and Aneryn who truly cared for him!!! His little personal family.
I loved getting to see the behind the scenes peek into Renwick, the Witchslayer. The 2nd book in the series allowed to to get to know him with Rua but this helped me to understand what he went through and how he pulled off the trick of protecting the witches while also holding the name the Witchslayer. It painted a beautiful picture of what his visions were that helped him believe that he would one day meet his fated. Worth the read!
I loved seeing Renwichs perspective and how long he has actually been going against his family! Like holy crap. Also the flashes he gets of Rua are *mwah* chefs kiss. I feel bad for how much the visions pain him but still love it. And now I feel bad for hating on him during The High Mountain Court even more.

~ARC for honest review~ I really liked this novella, short and sweet. Renwicks character is a favorite of mine, ever since reading the last book (The Witches' Blade). I am hoping we can get more of him in future books, but I do like how we got to explore a little more of what he's thinking, and him as a whole. Really enjoyed!
I absolutely loved this story. I loved getting a small look into Renwicks thoughts and his past. To see how he struggled with the title ‘Witchslayer’ given to him. He never wanted to any of the things that he did. You can see why he felt unworthy of Rua, and how it tormented him. I look forward to getting to know more of this world, and these characters.
I loved this little novella. It was just what I needed to better understand Renwick's character. While this wasn't right after book three, there were a lot of spoilers for book three with his visions. So, this definately has to to be read after book three. This book was really essential for developing Renwick's character.
I enjoyed seeing some of Renwick’s backstory after his strong character arc in book two. He does terrible things in order to survive the world around him, while also finding ways to be honorable and show mercy. So far, this novella series has been an interesting exploration of the world and characters. Can’t wait to dive into book 3 next.
Loved this!!! 100 pages more of Renwick, how could I say no??
I think this novella really helped fully flesh out Renwick's character by showing what he was like when he was living under his Uncle's rule. And you can see how hard he is trying to not become like him 😭
I love renwick. He’s my favorite character in the series. There’s just so much to him and I feel like we are just getting more through this novella! I think it was my fav out of all the novellas released. And the cover artwork is so dreamy 😍
I loved getting to know more of Renwick's story and some of the events leading up to The High Mountain Court and The Witches' Blade. I can't wait for book 3!
Incredible backstory on Renwick's character! It explains so much more of what he went through as the witchslayer and takes scenes from the main novels into more detail. Love it!!
This was a fantastic edition to the series! It really gave us some insight on renwicks upbringing and why he is the way he is, definitely opened my heart up to him more 🥺
Loved this little novella about Renwick. We got to know Renwick a little better and see where he was coming from. It was a perfect novella. Can’t wait for the next book!
