Double Trouble #1

Bound by the Marriage Contract

Rate this book
Ashwin was the ever-so-serious, alpha-male, who thrived on the next deal, the next million. Surprises were not his thing, especially when they were of the bad kind. After two years of working with his efficient EA, why did he feel an uncanny attraction to her all of a sudden? Was he missing something in the whole picture?

Dia was the quintessential romantic who read, wrote, and thrived on romance. She had nothing to do with the corporate world or her sister's boss - the sinful-looking Ashwin Kumar. Only, her twin has been missing and she needed to investigate the reason behind her twin's vanishing act. She thought it would only be a matter of few days, and she could conveniently play her efficient twin. Unfortunately, she wasn't prepared for the man who could as well one of her reel heros.

When Ashwin suggests a marriage of convenience, neither of them expect to fall in love. Or, did they? What about Anita? Will he help her find her sister?

It was a thinly veiled mystery in the beginning, a contract relationship in the middle and a happily ever after in the end. If it wasn't for the initial and seemingly forced mystery slash confusion of identical twins, I would have liked it better.

Detailed review on my blog.

A breezy romance!

Ashwin and Dia stay with you even after they have attained their happily ever after.
His innocent secratary is a sweet yet tangible love story. The author has managed to mix in the right amount of romance without going overboard. The only thing I kind of disliked is the feeling that the book ended very soon ! 😊

Super short. Not enough build up. I generally don’t like short romance novels. I read this because I bought it for free. The story was entertaining to read but I wouldn’t really… read another one of her books again. It’s not for me.

I found this book very captivating. I was highly entertained by the relationship between Dia and Ashwin. Both so much in love and not understanding the other's feelings. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

blech. no. the sole reason I finished this was because it was short and I was curious so I spent the extra 20 minutes to just avoid a DNF. I have regrets.

Ashwin
I thrived on order and routine, didn't do relationships and lived for the next deal. The next million. Surprises weren't my thing, especially if they were of the bad kind. That's why I was skeptical when I was attracted to my EA after two years of maintaining a cordial, professional relationship. Something wasn't adding up. Who was this girl who turned my world upside down?

Dia
I was the quintessential romantic who read, wrote, and lived for happily-ever-afters. The fictional kind, that is! I'd lost all hope of finding my own Prince Charming, until I met my twin's boss—the sinful-looking Ashwin. Only, I couldn't afford to fall in love. Not when I was impersonating to be my twin, who was missing. All I wanted was to find my twin. I wasn't prepared for the attraction that simmered between her hot, grumpy boss or his drugging kisses.

This billionaire romance story is incredible and the story line was remarkable from beginning to end. The characters are amazingly put together and made the book very enjoyable. This was the first time I had heard of Dee James and wow what a great author they are.

I think this book would be an excellent resource for a dissertation analyzing the role of misogyny against Indian women in romance novels and films. I knew the romanticization of abuse was bad based on what people have told me but reading it was something else.

Don’t get me wrong, misogyny is very pervasive in many romance novels but the MMC in this book is actively abusive “pushed me onto the couch”, “raised his voice”, “demanded this/that/etc.” “Ashwin lashed out.” “I [Ashwin] punched the wall.” “It made me want to throw the glass against the wall.” “Holding her arms in a bruising grip.” “To her credit, Dia simply nodded and didn’t contradict me.” This is abuse, plain and simple. He controls her, orders her around, destroys her boundaries, etc. If any of my friends told me they were seeing a guy like this, I’d offer them a way out. There are numerous instances of slut shaming and victim blaming both towards the FMC and her sister.

All in all, I’m tired of this, grandpa.

Not for me but could still be for someone else

I couldn’t get past 8%. I tried. I just couldn’t get pulled into the story. It just was not for me. It definitely could be for someone else though. I encourage everyone to give it a try and see for yourself.

I love this book it was a beautiful book and well written. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I loved how Sia lives in her own little fantasy, and Anita is the protector of her twin. It's beautiful. The author did a great job.

This is the first of two books in this series. Having read this first one, I will not bother with the second. Thankfully, it was a short read, and I did finish it. However, it was very poorly written and had many grammatical errors. I have only given it 1☆ and wouldn't recommend it at all.
