The MacInnes Werewolves #3

Wild Highland Magic

Rate this book

As soon as she laid eyes on him, her animal instincts took over.

For generations, the MacInnes werewolves have been guarding the portal between Earth and the Drakkyn realm. Bastian and his sister came through the portal from Drakkyn, seeking sanctuary in the beautiful Scottish Highlands and relief from the curse that haunts him. Solitary and despairing, Bastian must find a way to break the curse or it will kill him.

A family squabble 25 years ago drove a rift between the MacInnes alpha and his brother, and Catrionna MacInnes has never met her MacInnes relatives nor had any guidance in how to be a werewolf. When her father brings his family to Scotland seeking reconciliation, Cat lays eyes on Bastian, and her most basic animal instincts kick in. Bastian tries to resist Cat - no good can come of their attraction - but she won't take no for an answer. She knows that all she wants - what she must have - is to mark him as her own.

Oh my. I had a hard time finding "Wild Highland Magic" in the bookstore; but I refused to miss out, and ordered a copy of Kendra Leigh Castle's latest instead. I'm so, so glad I did. This one was just as good as the other two I've read by her and that makes this author a firm plant onto my 'must read' list.

Catrionna and her sisters are so excited to finally be headed to the Scottish homeland of their relatives. But better than the chance to see long-estranged family is the chance to be accepted for what they are...werewolves. Is it too much to hope that maybe they can find a hunky werewolf they're NOT related to?

Bastian is cursed...a real curse. He's the last of his bloodline-the rest were all driven mad by a daemon curse and now it's come for him. After years of searching, he's down to his last hope. His only chance is: the blood of a dragon, freely given. Isn't just his luck that the only dragon he knows is his sister's half-brother? Oh, and he's in hell? And better yet, he was sent there after trying to force his half-sister to be his mate? I guess it could be worse...like maybe Bastian could rescue him...only to find himself hiding out in the midst of a werewolf reunion...where he meets his future mate!

This is a series with drama, humor, suspense, magic, werewolves, vampires, dragons, daemons, hot love, hotter sex, sacrifice, redemption...I could go on and on. It's a darn good plot, set in an interesting world (worlds, really), that kept me turning pages like a whirlwind.

You could read "Wild Highland Magic" as a standalone and still be intrigued. But why not go for the gusto and read all three. They have a spot on my keeper shelf and I can only hope there's more to come from Kendra Leigh Castle set in these wonderful worlds.

I sat on this book for waay too long and had a hard time with the opening chapters, trying to get a feel for the strange, magical world that Castle had created in her first two books. This is not a stand alone, and is probably best enjoyed by reading fairly soon after the first two books.

After I figured out the players and the plot, I found myself immersed back in a world of Scottish werewolves, dragonshifters, sorcerers from other dimensions, and evil soul-sucking demons. Good times, of course, and well done for paranormal romance.

This book was a fantastic end to an amazing series! We got to meet several more MacInnes wolf shifters and watch them interact with the original pack. I loved seeing Bastian find his mate and it was great to re-visit all of the other couples. I would highly recommend this series.

It has been awhile since I have read a romance book that totally sucked me into the world the author created and drew to me nearly every character in the story. Wild Highland Magic did just that. It has a little of everything for those who like paranormal romances. You have were wolves, dragons, vampires and even a nod towards witches. You can feel the sexual tension brimming between Bastian and Cat from their first meeting and get carried along as they try to find a way to overcome the curse put on Bastian and find a way to remain together. You also meet Cat’s two younger sisters, Poppy and Skye, and also get caught up hoping Poppy and her dragon get their own happy ending. I’ll definitely be adding Castle’s other books to my to be read list!

Bastian an Morgaine has been cursed.
For five generations his family has endured the shadow of a Narial, a beast and a soul eater. He is the last of his blood line and a mixture of a Dyadd (blood drinking Sorcerer) and an Athin (Ice Mage who can travel through worlds and can manipulate water/ ice). Any strong emotion brings on an attack from the Narial, specially happiness and love. He has lived a lonely life, unattached and remote from everyone. Recently, an oracle has giving him hope, the blood of a Dragon, freely given can save him. He rescues Lucien Andrakkar, a dragon, from the realm of the Demons and takes him to recuperate to the clan MacInnes property.

Catrionna MacInnes has come to Scotland to meet his uncle Duncan MacInnes, the alpha of the clan. She and her sisters, Skye and Polly, traveled with their father who has not been a part of their lives and who never taught them how to deal with becoming werewolves. She is happy to meet her uncle Duncan and feels an instant connection with him and the land.

When Cat meets Bastian time stops and she knows there is more to this sourly sorcerer Prince than meets the eye. Her reaction to him is the most powerful she has had towards a male. Bastian tries to keep her away from him but this doesn't last long. He can't fight his feelings and he knows if he may endanger her if he falls for her.

As a bonus the secondary story of Polly and Lucien. When Polly discovers that Bastian is hiding Lucien she feels determined to heal him back to life. Lucien feels he doesn't have anything to live for until he meets Polly. Their banter is quite entertaining and soon turns into more.

This is book 3 of the series but can be read as a stand alone. Characters from prior books appear in several parts of this one. I am hoping she writes about Skye. The one sister with no happy ending. It is a fast, enjoyable read. It reminds me of the World of the Lupi.

I'm having trouble finding a way to talk about this book. It struck me as strange. Upon reading it I was struck, at least three different times, with the notion that this was a side story to a very large, intricate, and well planned out fantasy universe. Think of those fantasy novels, three or four different races, magic, demons, witches, wizards...whathaveyous and the fantasy novels they entail. Large sweeping stories full of battles and politics and magic. This novel is the more up-close-and-personal look at the life of some of the minor characters that might be in that larger story. Does that make sense?

Most of the book does not take place in that fantasy world, but the two main male characters come from it. One is the only son of two great magical races, who just so happens to be cursed. The other is a dragon (in human form). That being said this book takes place in what is modern day Scotland where a family is gathering from near and far....only they are werewolves. Whatever. I'm fine with paranormal romance....in fact love it! But, there was just something. I came away from this book with a whole host of questions about werewolves ( presentation, culture, hygiene) that I've never wonder about before. Interesting, that.

Also, and I may just be leading a sheltered from werewolf story life here, but this is the first novel where the female lead was a werewolf. In human form she was strong and sassy; she was equally so as a werewolf. I can only name a handful of movies/books where a female character was werewolf....and usually she isn't the lead. Neat!

Fun to read...but maybe you should read the series in order instead of just grabbing one.

Though sneaking into the daemons lair to rescue an enemy might not work, he is the last of his line and Bastian an Morgaine is determined to break a curse that has plagued his family for generations. Betraying a friend to nurse said enemy to health puts Bastian in a precarious position when Cat (Catriona) MacInnes comes for the family reunion and affects Bastian like a head-on collision.

Sharing the shock of collision, Cat's unsure why Bastian seems to be in such a hurry to get away from her but takes heart that she has a little time and opportunity for him to see her as she sees him. In the meantime, Cat and her sisters will learn how to be werewolves from their uncle while Bastian's curse becomes more blatant and aggressive in its attacks against him.

Their accidental mating not only shares their pasts it entwines the futures of the virtual strangers, realigns family dynamics and alliances as Cat and Bastian look for hope in their hopeless situation as the danger increases rapidly. This exciting wrap to the trilogy is the most fantasy driven of the three and references the past installments well.

Wild Highland Magic is book 3 of the trilogy series, The MacInnes Werewolves. I wish there were more than 3! If you love PNR series that become complex with a variety of preternatural beings, lots of action, and hot romance, this is a series you should check out...

This is a paranormal romance featuring a female werewolf, Catriona MacInnes, and an ice mage, Bastian an Morgaine, who is living with a curse which will kill him.

When the pair first meet in Scotland, it is instant chemistry for both Cat and Bastian, but it is Cat who cements their bond. Will they have a happily-ever-after or will they both die because of their bond?

To be honest, it took some time to pick up the threads of the trilogy since this reader has not read the previous two novels (only read the excerpts at the back of the novel). The descriptions of the various tribes (the Drakkyn Tribes of Coracin) helped immensely. I found myself flipping back and forth between the story and the tribe descriptions.

It may be a paranormal romance; however, there are quite a number of What-the-tuck trends peppered throughout the novel. They include smirks, winks, and tucking incidents.

This was a lovely read and the variety of characters made it even more interesting. I liked the fact that there were two leading couples though I would have liked a bit more detail on Lucien and Poppy's story. I thought Lucien was an interesting character from when he was introduced in the last book, so I was actually waiting for his story.
Bastien and Cat's chemistry was sizzling. Overall, a very good read.

Wild Highland Magic" is actually the third book by Kendra Leigh Castle along these same lines of sexy shifters of werewolves and sorceresses. I see your raised eyebrows. Keep reading. I myself do not typically (have not ever) read paranormal romances. But I have broadened my horizons and I am glad I did. Featuring your predictable love story it is told with a unique setting and circumstances, obviously unlike anything I've ever read before. Instead of getting turned off by the fantasy worlds I was quite absorbed. First off let me explain that there is no gore, bloody stuff which some may think of when they hear of 'paranormal'. There is nothing here to be afraid of.

This novel is focused on the romance that immediately occurs between Catriona, a woman who has the ability to shape into a werewolf, and Bastian, who is a sexy mysterious powerful mix of man and magician. He can jump worlds. (I just wanted to see myself write that phrase with all seriousness.) Oh and he can make water move. But Sexy Bastian is lugging around the Family Curse, aka a vicious shadow who swears to eat him up and whoever loves him as it has done to generations before him. Catriona's family of werewolves get involved in trying to save Bastian and Catriona from dragons and evil shadows with a fight to the death. Their attraction is extreme and that's where some of the 'bodice-ripper' stereotypical scenes come in, and it gets hot and heavy a few times. Mini sub-plots occur with Cat's family members with love affairs and secrets, and the actual magic itself which were all entertaining. The main characters are appealing and the dialogue is modern and witty. I enjoyed the paranormal factors more then I expected I would, some of the magic described was wonderful to imagine. One drawback is the non-development of the character of Cat's father. I kept expecting more to be said about him with insight into his secrets and personal life. And although this is set in Scotland, there isn't a lot of "Scottish" characterizations except for kilts at a gathering... and then the other settings are indeed out of this world.

After getting halfway through the book is when I realized that were two books before that focused on some of the same characters, but knowing that did not detract from the current plot. I will just have to go hunting for those other two. On Kendra's site there is a summary of the books and how they relate to one another. This is a great summer read, this came out May 1 in paperback for a great price, so you really can't go wrong. I know some readers will balk at the phrase paranormal romance, as I have done myself, but I recommend this one for anyone who wants to let go of the typical romance and go for a ride on the other side where demons and love at first sight mixes into an uncommonly great story. I definitely believe that Paranormal Romance Readers will love it. Overall a good ride, and I enjoyed it.

Catrionna (Cat) MacInnes and her sisters, Skye and Poppy are half werewolf and half witch. Their father shunned his werewolf lineage and never taught his daughters about their werewolf powers, but let them struggle with them alone. When their father announces they are going to make a trip to the Scottish Highlands, they’re surprised but excited to finally meet other clan members and their Uncle Duncan, who is the Alpha of the pack.
Bastian an Morgaine, is half Dyadd, the only male born to the race who are blood-drinking sorcerers. He is also half Athin with the ability to bend time and space. The Athin race has been wiped out by a deamon curse, which is a narial, shadowy creature that eats away the Athin’s soul until there’s nothing left. For this reason, Bastian has lived a lonely life, away from others for fear if he became too close to another, they too would be in danger of losing their life. Bastian has a plan to rid himself of this plague. All he has to do is convince his hated enemy, a dragon to let him drink his blood—willingly.
When Cat and Bastian meet, it’s like a crackle of energy passed between them, hot and definitely carnal. Cat doesn’t understand her urge to want to bite this man and mark him as hers, but Bastian does understand, and as much as he would like to make Cat his own, he must stay away from her. Unfortunately, destiny has other plans for these two. Bastian will not only have to fight for his life, but he also holds Cat’s fate in his hands.

Lucien Andrakkar, a dragon shapeshifter who was captured by the daemons and sentence to a lifetime of torture is rescued by Bastian. Even if he wanted to help Bastian, which he does not, he’s too weak to even heal himself of the wounds inflicted upon him. He never expected a little slip of werewolf, Poppy to work a special magic that would also heal his heart.

I loved this book! I couldn’t get enough it, sneaking away to read and staying up way too late to finish it. The Scottish Highlands is magic enough, but add a brooding angel-faced vampire-like/wizard and a dark haired, violet-eyed dragon shapeshifter, you’re bound to be enchanted. The secondary story with Poppy and Lucian is just as heartwarming as Cat and Bastian’s story. The emotions are so strong you’ll feel the pain the hero and heroines are going through to win their happiness. A must read!
This book is the third tale (my favorite) in the series, but it reads well as a stand alone.

The first two books are: Call of the Highland Moon and Dark Highland Fire

Catriona MacInnes, along with her sisters Skye and Poppy, are half werewolves, half witches growing up in sunny California with their father, Freddie. Never taught how to use or control their powers, never knowing they weren't unique - they were surprised when their father announced a family trip to the Scottish Highlands. A trip to meet his brother Duncan, Alpha of the MacInnes Pack.

Upon arriving at Iargail, the ancestral home of the Macinnes', Cat could see that it was going to take some time to mend the rift between Duncan and her father. Uncle Duncan immediately warmed to the three sisters though.

Cat soon runs into Bastian an Morgaine, a wizard prince staying in a cottage on Duncan's land. Hiding out would be how Duncan sees it, but since he is his daughter-in-law's brother, he lets him stay.

Bastian is hiding things though. The first being a narial - this is a shadowy creature that only prowls in the dark and has been tormenting Bastian's family for years. He slowly takes chunks of their soul until they break. Bastian's family had this curse put upon them by the king of the daemons. He is also hiding Lucien Andrakkar, a dragon. Bastian rescued Lucien from the Blighted Kingdom where he had been held and tortured by the daemons for a year. He is hoping that this dragon will help rid him of the narial. If Lucien will just give Bastian some of his blood, by his own free will, Bastian might have a chance to defeat the curse.

Things heat up quickly between Cat and Bastian and their kisses leave "marks" on their bodies - and souls. Unbeknownst to Cat, she has mated with Bastian for life. Bastian soon realizes that by mating with Cat, he has doomed her to his fate.

I adored this book. I loved the way that it was set in the Scottish Highlands, which you immediately think "past-times" - but it is set in the present, so there are different references to pop culture which made it amusing. The characters were werewolves, or dragons, or wizards - but this didn't read like a fantasy novel. The characters were so human, the emotions so strong, that this is who I would expect to run into in the Scottish Highlands! I was 2/3rds of the way through the book, when I mentioned to Danielle that I hoped it was the beginning of a series. She told me it was actually the third book! It read very well as a stand alone. Now I can't wait to get my hands on the first two books of this series - Call of the Highland Moon and Dark Highland Fire!

Wild Highland Magic by Kendra Leigh Castle is the last of this trilogy which has just the right amount of paranormal and fantasy sugar coated in romance. A delicious read without any added calories that will certainly satisfy your most carnal sweet tooth.

Bastian an Morgain is tall, lean and sexy hot. A man, a prince and wizard, he is also cursed with the most foul disgusting creature to crawl out of anyones worst nightmares. He lives one day at a time never knowing when the creature will finally give in to its hunger and devour him thus ending a legacy of powerful magic users who were once a mighty race.

Catrionna MacInnes is a rare beauty. Part were, part witch, part human makes for an unusual mix but one that is as deadly as the night is dark. A temper easily roused and a spirit that craves unbridled freedom will one of these days get her into trouble. This is one beauty who desperately needs to be tamed.

Our story continues from our last installment with just a small fraction of time passing by. The author has given us a smooth transition and she has given our characters a well needed vacation but as with all things, shit happens and life is not always what we hoped for.

Our hero and heroine meet at the MacInnes compound in Scotland a few days prior to the annual clan get together. Bastian doesn't exactly show his best side and Cat thinks he's a pompous ass which I'm sure he would gladly accept that title in lieu of linking himself to anyone and the danger that is ever present in his life.

The story gets ever more complicated with the addition of a tall, dark and snarky dragon which you will just love to hate even though his comments will surely having you giggling under your breath. Bastian actually saves the jerks proverbial ass and nearly roasts his own in the process. Cat's sister is enlisted to help the snarky twirp and finds out that she has finally met her match in personality. Who would've thunk! LOL! Believe me when I say you'll love this enticing interaction.

This story gives us not one but two budding romances even though one gets much more attention than that of the other. A tale of trust, deception, love, lies and blood thirsty action, you'll slip from one page to the next with the ease of silk sliding over skin. Each chapter will have you hungering for the next with primal need and if you are anything like myself, you will be praying the author comes out with a spin off in the very near future.

When Bastian an Morgaine was right years old, his father tells him that he is dying and that he is the last of the males in the line of Athins. A group of very powerful ice mages. He warns Bastian to never fall in love as it will only cause awful and painful heartache.

The reason for this is because many, many years ago when Bastian's grandfather, the high mage was alive; he was visited by a daemon named Cadmus. Cadmus wanted the daemons and the Athins to join houses. As part of this deal Cadmus wanted the high mage's sster. The high mage declined. Cadmus was irate and put a curse on all of the males. A curse that has been feeding on the males for centuries.

Catriona MacInnes and her family return from Americia after beging away for so long to rejoin the rest of the MacInnes pack in Scotland. The pack are wolf-shifters. Bastian has been living with the MacInnes pack. From the first moment Cat laid eyes on Bastian, they felt an instant connection with each other. Bastian and Cat try to deny what they feel for one another but the attraction is too strong and they finally given in to their feelings. But by doing so, Cat binds herself to Bastian and unleashes a horrific creature that wants to destroy both Bastian and Cat.

Cat and Bastian make a good match together. I liked the elements that Cat was the wolf and Bastian was the mage in this story. Usually you read where the male is the wolf as a male dominated role but this time the character is a female. It showed that even females can be strong and sexy. Wild Highland Magic didn't just include shifters, mages, daemons but also dragons. One small problem I had was that there were so many characters that I had some trouble keeping everyone straight. This is the second book I have read by Kendra Leigh Castle and it won't be the last.

Bastian an Morgaine is the last in a line of sorcerers who have been plagued by a curse for the last five generations. Bastian had hoped to be able to rid himself of it, and even though he takes steps to fight the curse, he truly does not have much hope. When he meets Cat, MacInnes werewolf, his life completely changes. Bastian is from the parallel world of Coracin, and Cat is from Earth. Bastian has fled to the MacInnes home in Scotland to recuperate and plan his next move, but his timing is terrible. He is there when all of the far-flung family converges for a reunion, which is what brings Cat, along with her two younger sisters, Poppy and Skye, and her estranged father. Events come to a head as old rivalries are brought up and new dangers surface. And of course there is a good amount of love at first sight (or bite, in this case).
I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected to - I tend to occasionally judge books by their covers, and this one just seemed too typical. Thankfully though, the story was anything but. I also discovered that it is the third book set in the world the author has created. (The covers for the other two books are disturbingly similar to this one.) While reading this book I did not feel like I missed anything, as Castle does a good job of giving background information, but it was obvious that there was more history to the story. The other characters were clearly important to the author, as were their stories, even though they weren't the main protagonists of this book. The romance was lovely - and it's not just Cat and Bastian that get to fall in love, which was nice. The world as Castle has created it works very well, and I look forward to catching up and reading the other two books in this series now.

Give a brief summary:

In the lastest installment of this Highland werewolf series, Baustian an Morgaine is dealing with a life-sucking daemon. Although he has a large family of sisters, he feels alone at all times and is staying with the MacInnes werewolf clan. He is completely focused on trying to defeat the daemon until he comes across Catrionna MacInnes and then that focus changes...

What I liked about this book was revisiting the MacInnes and Morgaine clans while getting to new new characters. Both Catrionna and Baustian are strong lead characters and I really enjoyed their story. I was intrigued about Baustian from the previous book and liked him even more in Wild Highland Magic. The daemon was interesting and different from the previous storylines which I found refreshing. In fact, I didn't see this storyline coming at all which made it all the better for me. I also liked getting to know Catrionna's two sisters and am hoping to read more about them in future stories (hint, hint :)

Dislikes?

Hmm...that seems like a harsh word here is there wasn't anything that I disliked about this book. I will admit to not feeling as deep a connection to this book as the 2nd book in this series but I still really liked it. So I can't really share any dislikes :)

Additional Thoughts?

This is a really good series if you enjoy a good romance with paranormal thrown in. I really, really like this series and hope that there will be more books in the future. All in all, a good read and a good addition to this series. And guess what guys, I feel a giveaway in the future :)

Wild Highland Magic
Written By: Kendra Leigh Castle
Published By: Sourcebooks Casablanca, an imprint of Sourcebooks Inc., 2009, First Edition, 384 pages, paperback

Wild Highland Magic is a very satisfying read. I was a little apprehensive about this book because often times it is very difficult to blend fantasy together with real life and make is convincing; lucky for us, Kendra was able to write this story with seamless ease and it is a riveting story! This smoothly flowing novel has a few plot twists, though nothing much unexpected. I found it a little difficult to keep all the different tribes/kinds of characters, apart; initially, I had to refer to the helpful descriptions at the front of the book. These vivid, unique worlds that Kendra has created are really something to behold; it’s very difficult to describe how fantastical yet believable these places are and I was intrigued by all of the different aspects of this novel. Each of the characters is well developed. I enjoyed the sizzle between Catrionna (Cat) and Bastian; they give new meaning to love at first sight. The sex scenes are piping hot with sensual aggression and steamy love-play. Poppy (Cat’s youngest sister) and Lucien are a wonderful...

This is my second time attempting this book and I have no idea why I had so much problem the first time around. I actually give this 4.5 stars. I loved the world building and the complex storyline. I wish that I had read the first two in this series before this one, as it feels like I have come in at the end and am missing alot (which I did and I am). But this story stands on it's own just fine. The world the author describes is rich and complex, full of daemons, shape-shifters (both wolf and dragon), ice-mages and other magical creatures. Catriona MacInnis is wolf shape shifter from California and along with her father and 2 sisters attends a family reunion of her Pack in the Scottish Highlands. Her father has kept all this a secret from the 3 sisters and they know very little about their heritage. Bastian an Morgaine is an ice-mage who is the last of his kind, as they have been cursed. His soul is slowly being eaten and the only way to stop this is through the gift of dragon blood. Catriona meets Bastian in Scotland and there is immediate chemistry. This has rather serious consequences. The author does a great job of incorporating traditional fantasy elements and more modern language. Catriona is a wonderful heroine and her sisters are interesting as well. Bastian does not feel quite as well developed and the story occasionally feels rushed as the author attempts to tie all the loose ends together. But overall an extremely enjoyable story.

This is nice, well-written book, but it just didn't pull me into it. In all fairness, I must add, there were some very unsettling events that happened while I was reading it which might have colored my perspective.

It's the third in the trilogy about the MacInnes werewolves (my bad-I haven't been able to get a copy of book #2--it's on backorder, and I went ahead and read this first). We meet long-estranged members of the clan, Frederick and his three daughters, Catriona (Cat), Poppy and Skye. They've come back for the clan gathering, and just after they arrive, Cat meets Bastian and the sparks fly. Bastian has been cursed, with only a slim hope of escaping it. His curse turns into a problem not only for him, but for the MacInnes clan as well. Bitter enemies must unite to conquer it, or more than just Bastian will die.

It's a nicely detailed world, and interesting story with a few unexpected twists. I'm really looking forward to getting book 2 to find out how some of this situation developed!

I honestly cannot provide you with a full synopsis of this book because if I only included the 2 supposed main characters, the plot would be a hundred pages at the very most. I have never read a book where the main characters were the supporting cast of their own story. So much, in fact, the majority, of the story was spent on the subplot of the sister and the dragon kept locked up on the estate and the demons plotting.

What I can tell you about Bastien is that he’s a cursed man under attack by a demon who wants to slowly and painfully steal his soul. What I can tell you about Cat is that she’s a werewolf coming from a place where she never really got to experience the freedom of just being herself. Together, they unintentionally mate and fall in love shortly thereafter. And when I say shortly, I’m talking never day. They meet, bite each other, then love. In the span of 24 hours. Zero conflict, zero sexual tension or chemistry. Honestly, the freaking sister’s plot with the crappy dragon was more interesting!

What a complete waste of my time.

I loved the final conclusion to the series, although I would read more if they were to be written.

In the final book we get to learn more about the brooding, loner, sexy, mysterious, powerful Bastian. His father's bloodline was cursed a few generations ago and they have all died out but him. If he is to break this curse he must seem help from an unwilling sort and help has to be freely given, easier said then done. But the worst of his problems has just begun, he was warned as an eight year old boy to keep himself distant from any happy emotions for those would kill him faster and mostly to NEVER take a mate.

Cate is an untrained werewolf just now meeting the MacInnes clan (her family) for the 1st time in her life. Upon laying eyes on Bastian, she is completely drawn to him and marking him as her own might just be more then she bargained for.

To fight for their new found love might just be the death of them.

I absolutely loved this book! Ice Mage, Bastian an Morgaine is a tormented hero carrying around a curse without a discernible cure. Werewolf Catriona MacInnes has just arrived in Scotland, visiting her werewolf relatives for the first time. She and her sisters, Poppy and Skye, have been kept in the dark about their heritage by their father and have basically had to learn their way by trial and error. Well the first error Catriona makes in Scotland is to "mate" with Bastian through a blood exchange. Oops! The story flows from there with Bastian actively trying to find a cure for the curse and Catriona "helping".

This is book three of the trilogy but it didn't read like a conclusion so hopefully there will be another.

reading these 3 books out of sequence has made it a bit difficult to follow some of the sub plots, but not impossible.
the linking of the different 'species' is very good and i like her style of writing ... the pop culture references made me laugh out loud!
to say the hero is sexy would be the understatement of the decade and being from Scotland myself made me wonder where on earth all these sexy werewolves could possibly be hiding!!
have now downloaded the first two and will read them all through in sequence!
