Fora do campo: sobre doença, quarentena & lei bíblica

Rate this book
The COVID-19 global pandemic took the world by surprise and many were left wondering if the cure was, in fact, worse than the disease. This was especially true as time went on and the narrative evolved. However, it wasn't just a mass of confusion from the U.S. government and media outlets; many Christians were and are to this day unsure of how to approach medical ethics. Should Christians simply do whatever the "experts" tell them? Does the civil magistrate have jurisdiction over so-called "public health"? What about the leprosy passage in Leviticus 13 & 14 -- can this be used as a guide for developing public health policies? In this short book, Dr. Jason Garwood revisits the Levitical passage and makes the case that no, the magistrate has no authority or jurisdiction over public health. Rather than making assumptions about the leprosy passage, it is our Christian duty to draw the proper lines as we seek to teach the nations how to obey Christ

Garwood took Sutton's THEOS covenantal model and applied it to the text of Leviticus, specifically the passages concerning quarantines and sickness. He is more than apt with the text and although I am not a Theonomist, I was pretty much enjoying the hayride the whole trip. There was some political overtones at the beginning that I would likely have a qualm with - but overall a good and short take on an issue that I never thought I would care so much about in my own lifetime.

This book provides a helpful application of Leviticus 13&14. This would be very beneficial to read in light of the Covid-19 crisis. It’s always neat to know that the Bible has a lot to say about current events, even if ceremonial aspects aren’t for us, they help us see the true reality of how the Law of God works and how we must reject the humanist aspect to please the Marxist crowd!
