They took us in the middle of the night and forced us to do things together…things I don’t dare admit.
They came and took us in the middle of the night—kidnapped us and locked us in an attic—me and my stepbrother Jake. They’re some kind of cult—the Worshipers of the Moon—and they say that Jake and I are the last of the Royal Weres. We’re the last two with the blood of the First Wolf and because of that, we’re their only hope.
But now they want me to do things with Jake—things I know I shouldn’t do. Things that could get me in a lot of trouble nine months down the line. It’s frightening, but Jake is protective and gentle—he understands what we need to do in order to get free. The only trouble is, our plan might prove disastrous in more than one way.
The cult members keep telling me that Jake is my Alpha and I am his Omega—his to claim, his to take. But when we finally get away from them, we don’t dare to tell anyone what they made us do together. For the penalty for our sins in the Were world…is death.
***Author's Note #1--this is a DARK ROMANCE--some scary things happen to the heroine. However, the hero is not abusive to her--they are in this situation together. But if you have ever been kidnapped or abused, please be aware that parts of this book may be triggering. Please read responsibly. (PS--I promise it turns out okay in the end. ; )
***Author's note #2--this is a STEPbrother book. There is NO BLOOD RELATION between the hero and the heroine. They are completely UNRELATED. I also want to stress that everyone in this book is OVER 18--none of the characters are underage.***
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
Because I'd like the author to use some, I swear if I did a word count for fated, mate, breed and knot and deleted them, the book would shrink by half. Dear Lord enough already. This was a hideous painful read, case in point pussy mouth, but out of respect to the author and her efforts I finished. Ickenspick!!!
I like Evangeline Anderson's books, even the first Kindred ones she wrote which weren't quite my cup of tea I didn't mind but this book I found such a chore to get through. I'm sorry Evangeline, I really like her as an author which is why this pains me to write this review. Here are the things I found I didn't like in this book (in no particular order):
1) The pacing. It's just very skewed. The start is completely rushed where we learn all the plot points we need to, the middle drags on forever and then it's all so suddenly over. The story needed to have a longer, more drawn out beginning to show the intimacy between the two characters, then the middle could be more action packed and the end also needed to be more drawn out with the recuperations both emotional and physical discussed in greater detail.
I hate, hate, hate when as a reader I'm bombarded with information in the first few chapters, allowing me figure out how the characters will act, how they'll behave and the entire storyline from the very beginning. There's nothing left then to hold my interest for the rest of the story. No, character development to look forward to or an adventure that the characters will go on with unpredictable events.
2) The characters are completely flat and one dimensional. I don't need them to have some great trauma or anything like that. But I do like see strong characters or characters that learn to become strong. Personally for me, Ani is so totally whiny and spineless. She grew up poor and so I would imagine she's got some great survival instincts. If she felt her stepfather is too controlling and the leader of some cult who keeps her isolated from her friends, I realistically think she should have moved away. That is an abusive relationship. So why does she stay? Because he buys her 'love'. And by the end, she still remains with them following the same rules she didn't agree with. I'm fine with that being part of the 'dark romance' genre but it's not even really acknowledged that his behaviour is completely wrong. Apart from that, just doing whatever she's told by whichever man she's near at the time I don't see any qualities in her. Oh! Well, she sassed back at her a few times which came out of nowhere.
Then there's Jake. Who also hates his father but remains living with him. What does he do? No idea. What are his motivations? Ani. Only Ani. Again, just another predictable boring male character. He's noble and protective of Ani but desires her so much and that's it. I don't know anything else about him and I don't think I needed to.
3) The dialogue. It's so repetitive. I'm sorry, every time after the 3rd chapter he kept saying she's his 'sister' or she kept saying he's her 'brother', oh wait but not blood related, but kinda still related and so it's totally forbidden and wrong, I had to roll my eyes. I get it. I'm not going to forget by the next page, you don't need to keep saying it. If the characters truly had this dichotomy between their desires and their morality, I would have expected more shame or guilt or angst which would present in their behaviour by e.g. Jake moving away, or getting a girlfriend who looks like Ani, or anything interesting. Another minor peeve of mine was how Jake kept saying over and over, 'little Ani'. I wish there was more variety in the dialogue of the characters so I could get some hint of their personality.
Now, the good parts I did like!! Evangeline Anderson can write erotica. She can write hot scenes and honestly, that is an incredibly impressive skill which keeps me coming back to her books and makes me forgive a lot of other things I may feel might be lacking in her work. I know she's wrote other standalone books involving stepbrothers however I'm not sure this is really her forte. I applaud her for continuing to try write dark romance novels but I don't think she's quite cracked it just yet. One more good point I have to say is that she thinks out her paranormal worlds very well. I think she has great ideas for them and formulates them very well. I do think sometimes she needs to hold off on having the reader be told every detail from the start.
Finally, I personally believe this novel would have worked much better as a short story. That way we could have avoided so much of the pointless middle of the book and I could have quit having to skim through multiple chapters.
Jake and Ani are forced into committing an unforgivable sin in the were world. Of course, they wouldn’t be in this situation if his father and her mother didn’t make choices for them that they didn’t want. This is steamy, erotic story that might not be for everyone, but if you like your stories on the darker side, this book’s for you.

OK, I had a very hard time getting into this book because the basic premise is flawed.
Premise - A group of crazies are trying to force the two main characters to have sex. They "must" have a baby together because they are the last two of the royal were line. (This does have werewolves in it) This is the only way to preserve the Royal blood of the First Were and save the weres from destruction as prophesied. They resist because his dad and her mom recently got married and his dad "adopted" her making them brother/ sister --> therefore sex together would be incest (lots more there but that is the basic idea)
Problem 1 - it seem pretty obvious that both of them had a non-Royal parent who is now gone. There is no reason they couldn't have Royal children with a non-royal just like their parents did. Problem 2 - this premise forces an either-or fallacy of critical thinking. Sex/baby or weres are destroyed. What if their parents had another child? What if they each had a child/children with someone else? (See #1) Problem 3 - if they are the last Royals, who on earth are their kids going to have kids with?!?!? True siblings?? Yuck!
I also have a problem with a naked girl who is freezing but doesn't have the common sense to close the window until after the fire has completely gone out. Really??
The erotica was fine. It was properly tagged, so the taboo aspect should not catch anyone by surprise. There was also some self-awareness with the banjo, which I appreciated. It was clear the author meant this book to be nothing more than taboo porn, complete with taboo porn-grade dialogue. And that is fine.
Where it completely drops the ball is when it tries to have a plot, because it is paper thin to the point of distraction, and the main conflict is literal victim blaming. The author knows this too, since the heroine makes a point to mention it, but it doesn’t make it any less stupid of a conflict, and not the only problem one. So selling female ‘criminals’ into sexual slavery is the norm in wolf society? And the heroine’s mom, the new queen of the lot, is fine with it? I guess it shouldn’t surprise me since she is also okay with her beloved husband doing a 180 and accusing her daughter of seducing his son before having her carted off to the slave auction, with explicit instructions to be as cruel to her as possible.
Marcus’ change of character gave me such whiplash I’m still reeling, in a bad way. During the entire third act, I kept wishing they’d go back to their sex attic. Porn-dialogue is easier on the brain than anything related to this world’s wolf society.
An Unexpected Treasure His Omegas Keeper, the newest novel by Evangeline Anderson, is a stand-alone werewolf shifter romance. Anastasia, Ani, our heroine, has been adopted by her mother’s new husband, Marcus. He had one son, Jake, our hero. Jake’s mother had died several years earlier, making him Ani’s new step-brother. Ani’s mom tells her that Marcus and Jake are werewolf royalty, shown by their golden eyes. But Ani and her mom have the same color eyes. Her mom tried to convince her the werewolf idea is real, but Ari refuses to believe it. The third member of this plot is actually a group calling themselves the Worshipers of the Moon. This group believes absolutely that when the last royal werewolf dies, all the other werewolves will be lessened, and no children will be born to them. Eventually, their kind will die out, all over the world. What they want is to have Ani and Jake mate and have a royal child who will carry on the bloodline. They are determined to make this situation happen. The group breaks into Marcus’s home, kill Ani’s bodyguard, and kidnap both Ani and Jake. Three of them lock Ani and Jake in an attic, binding him with silver, and demand they mate. Ani is told Jake is her Alpha and she is his Omega. None of this makes any sense to Ani as she continues to deny the werewolf idea. Basic beginning? I think not! If the two do mate, the penalty is death. But if they don’t, the Worshipers of the Moon will torture them until they die. Under the were law Ani and Jake are considered brother and sister, members of the same family. With a gun pointed at them and constant threats, what will they do? How can they survive? After I started reading this novel, I couldn’t put it down! The characters were believable, and the plot was straight forward and realistically written. The steamy scenes were steamier than normal, and the dangerous situations they faced kept my heart in my throat. I’ve read all the novels by Evangeline Anderson and enjoyed them, but some stand out more than the others. His Omegas Keeper is one of those.

His Omega's Keeper is the latest stand alone story from Evangeline Anderson. This time we are enticed into the Werewolf Shifter world. Our main two characters are Anastasia who is trying to live with the new rules, inside the home and outside that her newly married mother and step father have forced upon her. To add to the frustration she now has a sexy as sin step brother. Anastasia doesn't understand anything that is happening in her life. Suddenly she is no longer allowed to go anywhere without a escort and both her mother and step father are trying to convince her they are actually werewolves. If that isn't crazy, the bizarre ritual he made her complete with her step brother truly was. Craziness she can endure, but another night being tailed by her bodyguard isn't so its time to make a stand. Unfortunately that has consequences she didn't believe could exist. Enter the step brother, Jake. Stormy and Intense is one way to describe him, not to mention fierce and protective of Anastasia. She doesn't realise it yet but she is his Omega. He is her Alpha but he has been trying to keep to his promise to his dad only to act as her step brother but when the universe twist you into circumstances beyond your control then sometimes promises aren't enough. Grab this book today to find out how Anastasia and Jake survive this rocky adventure.
This is a well written story with tense scenes, danger, abductions, a prophecy, crazy moon worshippers and much more. The characters are fantastic as is the storyline.
Anastasias mum remarried, she’s happy for her but her new husband is in a crazy cult, as is his son Jake. He thinks they are royal werewolves, and so is Anastasia and her mum. He makes Anastasia and Jake do a weird blood bond that makes them brother and sister by blood, as if they have the same parents. Now she’s not allowed out without a bodyguard, when she sneaks out to meet her friends she finds out why. A professor at her university pops up and tells her she must mate with the heir of the royal king or werewolves will cease to exist. Luckily Jake arrives in time to save her and tries explaining things but she doesn’t even believe they are werewolves so he gives up. He drives them home and she goes to bed. When she wakes it’s to someone with their hand across her mouth. He ties her and frog marches her to a car where they put her in the trunk with Jake. One of their abductors is the crazy professor. Now at a house in the middle of nowhere their abductors have plans for them. No matter what they aren’t going to let the pair leave without Anastasia conceiving and fulfilling the prophecy.

An interesting story about the “were” culture and fanatical practices. It was a different world than the author usually writes so it was refreshing and surprising. Ani and Jacob , who are step brother and sister are forced by his father (the pack alpha) to undergo a ceremony that would bond them as brother and sister. The father considers Ani’s mother his true mate. A cult kidnaps them and insists they must mate as they are not blood relations and are the last hope for the “Royal Weres” and must continue the royal line. Bring in lots of sensual tension as Ani has always felt an attraction to her brother despite her mother insisting she would not marry Jake’s father unless the “ceremony” was completed. It was hurtful and hard for Jake and Ani who are also really “fated mates” but her mother could not have known that. To complete the mating would mean death in the Were world as they are considered by many true siblings. True love can not be denied so there is a great deal of danger, tension, love and forbidden actions that make this dark romance a great read. Perhaps there will be a second book ego let us continue their story.
One of the best books I've read by mistake in a long time. You think I just but nope. I was scanning through Amazon books waiting patiently for my fav authors to finish and publish the next book, very slowly I might add. I came across the Gem by mistake. I went to click on this new author's book but something happened and the page disappeared and backed up a page. Oh no what was that book and the name? A non tech savvy person as you can tell. Not!!! Anyway so how I made it back to that pg and the bought this book. I actually brought another by mistake too trying to buy this book but again not tech savvy but DEFINITELY PLEASANTLY HAPPY I DID. this was a story idea and approach that I hadn't read before and was kept on the edge of my seat awaiting the outcome. You should read it to see what all the fuss is about!!!!! Who knows maybe I'll check the other book out too!!!
I was so disappointed by this story, which is really upsetting as I normally really enjoy books by this author.
Cons: At one point, I even stopped reading it to check its publication date because I was convinced this piece had to be her very first piece of writing, as it lacked the maturity in story-telling that her other books contain. The characters felt flat, the same three themes were repeated on every darn page (for Pete's sake, we get it...Ani thinks everyone is delusional, they're "brother" and "sister" but not really, what they're being forced to do is wrong...). Even the "knotting" seemed like a copy and paste from the Beast Kindred books. I wondered, too, if maybe a newbie ghost writer was using EA's name.
Pros: As always, the spicy scenes are 5 stars. Really, if this had been a short story erotica piece, it'd have fulfilled its duty really well.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
A wonderful read with great characters a strong storyline that was totally engrossing This is a simply riveting read and it is filled with wonderful characters and a story that is filled with subterfuge and mystery and I do not want to spoil this wonderful read by spoiling the plot so I have been careful about what information I include in this review. The couple had been simply snatched away from their lives in the middle of the night and they had not seen it coming and had been taken totally by surprise and so now She and her Stepbrother are being held as prisoners and the cult holding them are trying to force them into a relationship as they are the last two believed Royal Wares and are royal blood. They keep on insisting that Jake is her Alpha and that she is his Omega and that its her duty to allow him to mate with her even though they are related however Jake and his step sister are trying to escape. They will do whatever it takes to get free from this sect that is holding the as hostages. Read this wonderful book, I assure you that it is impossible to put it down until you reach the last page and discover the outcome. I do not want to spoil the plot so will say no more about the three of them, I assure you that you will enjoy every single moment of this book. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
2.25 Stars. (WW/WM). I read the Audible audiobook narrated by Dahlia Lynde
Setting: Current day small town USA.
Trope: Paranormal. Forced proximity. One bed. Adoptive siblings. Fated mates.
Main characters: Anastasia "Ani" Ellinora Wulvendep, heroine, is a college nursing student and virgin Royal omega wolf.
Jake Wulvendep, hero, works for the family business and like his father he is a Royal alpha were be has he is a direct descent from the bloodline of the first wolf.
Not recognizing this book as the first book in a series, I read "The Brand that Binds" before reading this story. Reading this book and the afore named book is like reading the same story but with different character names and slightly different variations and similar events. To appease Ani's mother and keep Jake and Ani from mating, Jake's father adopts Ani and makes Jake and Ani participate in a blood ceremony making them blood brother and sister. Jake and Ani get kidnapped and are force to fondle, caress, have oral and sexual penetration without knotting, mating. Neither of the book's heroines are informed about the werewolf culture and both books use the same distracting dialogue. I liked the other book better which could be because I read it first.
This was a very enjoyable read - it was a very unique twist on Alpha/Omega Werewolves. We are used to reading about how the alpha is determined to claim his omega fated mate. That is not the case with this book. Jake and Ani are fated mates but there a a couple of roadblocks to their HEA. First off. Ani does not know she is a were. She does not even believe they exist. She is the stepbrother to Jake who comes from a Royal line. But due to a ritual performed by his father, in the Were-world they are not step siblings but rather full blood siblings. See the twist? Now add in a crazy wackadoole cult who believes that Jake and Ani must mate in order to save the werewolves of the world. And then the plot thickens even more because to mate, means to die. It was a really enjoyable book to read, right through to the end. Only think that bothered me with the read was its formatting. I am trusting that the author formats it better before releasing it. Now to be honest it may be just these advance copies, but I did find it distracting somewhat to read the copy I received.

I first read Evangeline Anderson's Kindred series but decided to give this a try.
Ani and Jake are being raised as brother & sister, only they are just step-siblings. No shared parents or DNA. She is a Fated Omega, he is the next Alpha Leader. One night they are kidnapped, by a cult that believes in folklore. The werewolves will die if the Fated Omega doesn't breed with the Alpha Leader. Dust to the wind. Ani and Jake are locked together in an attic and told to do things to bring on Ani's heat. Things that Ani isn't opposed to doing with Jake. Only Jake is trying not to do the worst damage and hurt Ani, but she keeps pressing, keeps begging him. He can't hold back.
When they are rescued, it's with happiness, until the video surfaces of Jake and Ani in the attic and the things they were doing. Incest. Jake is going to be put to death and Ani is to be sold to the highest bidder. What now?
I liked this story and the characters. It's not my favorite, but it was still good. I wish Jake and Ani had started out differently.
okay so i didn't think i would enjoy this book as much as i did but it kept me engaged up until the very end with no skimming!
this one really was much better crafted, the worldbuilding was pretty solid, the characters well defined, the sex very hot and satisfying. i liked both anastasia and jake, i think jake especialy because he was very sweet even though at times frustrating, but his constant pushback was true to his reasons as a character so i'm not too upset about it.
now there are some weaknesses, such as the resolution, which was tenuous and rushed, and the little "band" of captors which were just kind of cartoonish, and well... the premise itself as whole, which was a little thin. plus the fact that we are told that jake has always been an asshole to anastasia (to prevent her from going into heat as they are fated mates) but it's not very believable because we never actually see it! on the contrary, he's always very sweet to her if a bit stern.
but well, apart from all that i really did enjoy reading this book and i give it 4 stars
See what I did there? Now make sure that brother, sister, knot, unforgettable, and similar words are included on every page at least 5 times, and you'll get the idea.
But despite that, I plowed through, which is why it's getting 3 stars.
It was hard to believe it took multiple days for the super rich and powerful Marcus to find his son, and it's even less believable that he let his kid get kidnapped twice, by the same people (group? cult?).
Marcus's complete lack of sympathy and understanding made him the villan. He knows what a bonded mate is but doesn't think those instincts will affect his son and stepdaughter just because he says so, and he performs a ritual that just makes everything worse. It's a pretty weak plot, but I guess without it, the taboo factor would go down?
Triggers: brother/stepsister (taboo), "forced" sexual acts, violence/murder, kidnapping, voyeurism. There might be some others, but I think they are mostly off the page.
Evangeline Anderson is a great author. She writes captivating books that bring you in. However, there is generally a common theme among her books (not all of them but most of them). The main characters always end up in trouble and need to give in to their desires to survive. This book had great promise that I would have loved to see developed without the trouble aspect forcing desires to come about. The build-up was good, then the trouble, and followed by the resolution and determination to be together. Not a typical werewolf shifter romance, but one that does make you question the general acceptance of what is common for the genre. Anderson puts a spin on it that does raise a few questions such as how things worked out outside of the normal Were pairings or how one run in leads to some well thought out bad guy scheme, but other than that it works out well.

Anastasia and her stepbrother Jake find themselves in a dangerous situation. Kidnapped by people who have lost their minds and those willing to follow them. Their attraction for each other has been muted by Jake's dad Marcus, the Royal Alpha. He has found his Fated Mate in Anastasia's mom but due to her distrust of Jake, for no real reason other than ignorance, she refused to marry him unless he made it impossible for Jake and HIS Fated Mate Anatasia, to be together. Although Anastasia mom doesn't know she and Jake are Fated Mates doesn't make it any less hurtful. I loved this story. It has everything a person can want. .. Amazing main characters, lust, love, danger, evil people, insensitive family and crazy ideas all wrapped up by this amazing author in a little red bow.
I highly recommend this book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy for my honest review.
After living together as family for almost a year, Ani and Jacob are thrown together when they are kidnapped by a crazy Were cult. Both are older children of the Alpha and Omega Royals, but they are not blood related and are of consenting age.
Circumstances spelled out through Ani and Jacob’s journey make it imperative that they not become intimate together. However, they eventually find it impossible to resist one another, and their kidnapping adds another layer of compliance. Once the two of them give in to their desires, their chemistry together burns hot on the pages.
This is a step-brother romance with a shape-shifter spin. His Omega’s Keeper is erotica with a plot and interesting main characters. Please pay attention to the author’s trigger warnings and note that it does have a HEA.
There are reasons for this book to be the best, but also a lot of them to be the worst.
Worst:
"Of course she didn't want to live if he died." I mean, of course, they are IN LOVE, they fucked enough. And OMG, why not romancing SUICIDE?
She wants to be a nurse. That's all we know about her besides the fact she's hot. Oh! She also does have a cat.
Gezz, this female character it's a traumatizing representation of woman. Out of nowhere (like the author it's feeling kind of guilty) she has this actions that are smart, like the stupid plan to get out of there, or when she pointed the gun to herself.
Best:
Loved the villans. In the audiobook, they all do have accent and the way the author wrote their lines gave them an actual voice. You could sense potencial.
It's hot. Done to old lady's that are bored from their lifes✓ (Like me, with eighteen, damn).
His Omega's Keeper is a taboo paranormal romance set in the Forbidden Omegaverse world. Ani and Jake are stepsiblings, and by Pack law, they are "blood" siblings even though there is no actual blood relation between them. They get kidnapped by a ridiculous cult that believes Ani and Jake need to breed together so their magical child can save the lives of all Weres 💀
In true Evangeline Anderson fashion, His Omega's Keeper was utterly ridiculous and deliciously smutty. The dialogues are repetitive and the characters try so hard to pretend they are only doing this for survival and nothing else. And if you overthink it just even a little bit, it's easy to see the logical flaws in the premise and world building. So my advice is, don't overthink it, sit back, and enjoy the captivity and taboo smut cause that's what we're all here for.
I had high hopes for this, but there were too many things that left me disappointed. One is the fact that I kept wondering why they didn't show Anastasia the truth before we got to this point. I feel like anyone who hasn't grown up thinking that werewolves are real is going to think that the people who believe it are crazy. I'm sure Marcus had to do more than tell Winifred for her to understand.
Another is the fact that Winifred married this man knowing what he was but was afraid for her daughter to end up being with Jake. That's stupid unless she's secretly afraid of Marcus.
And the whole thing with Marcus agreeing to make Jake and Anastasia blood siblings in the werewolf community doesn't make sense. It's weird that a Royal doesn't want to be able to continue their line.
I love when authors step out of their comfort genres and write something new. That is truly when you see the authors talent. Evangeline Anderson isn't a stranger to other forms of fantasy storylines. This was a little different. A lot and I do mean a lot of heat. Very interesting characters BUT so much could and needed to be done with character development and world building. The book became so much about sex that the reason it was "forbidden" wasn't explored it's just said that's the way things are. Why are they the last Royals? How are Ani and her mom Royals and Weres and never knew? There are plenty more questions about this world. This doesn't mean it was a bad book. It means I want to see where the author takes this series.
It's been a long time since I've read a 'were' book. This is a little darker than the norm but I'll read anything this author writes. Jacob and Anastasia are step siblings, both attracted to each other but it's taboo. In the eyes of the 'were' they are related. He's from a Royal bloodline and she has found out as a young adult, convinced it's madness and a cult. The worshippers of the moon are a group that are convinced in the belief of a prophecy. Jake and Ani are kidnapped and their world turned upside down. I really enjoyed this story but I just wanted more at the end in regards to his father. But my imagination will have to suffice.
I am an avid Evangeline Anderson fan. I have loved most of her books, however this one is just good. There are some steamy sections, but I found it extremely repetitive and annoying with a constant reminder of the forbidden relationship. I didn't find it believable that two grown adults wouldn't stand up to their parents and express their own wishes and stop what happens at the start. It seemed to drag for me at times and then all of a sudden everything is fine and the book is over. I really wanted to like this one, but just couldn't get into it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Stepsiblings are kidnapped for prophecy fulfillment
These two are STEP-siblings, but once a special ceremony is done in the Werewolf community they are considered blood siblings. Honestly if Evangeline had just left out that part I'd like it more. They refer to each other as big brother and little sister during some steamy moments and yeah it's a yucky feeling for me but you push through or mentally add step in front and move along. It's a Barry&Iris thing for me. They aren't really ever considered siblings because the romantic love was always there. Aside from that language it was a very hot read and I liked the story.
I enjoyed reading this book 📚 very much. I liked the main Jake and Ami very much. I got scared and sick with the bit's about guns and revanage and upset all at once and felt gald when it was all over. I liked the bi' about the wolf 🐺 and the cat 🐈. I am looking forward to reading book 📚 2 and wanted to learn more about the 🌙 and saying in this book and wanted to learn more about the wolf 🐺 from Evangeline 's point view like you do in some of the wolf 🐺 book 's. I liked the sex scenes with out a gun but understood why more towards the end of the book 📚. 😀 Liked the idea of the cult and that Jake and Ani were step brother and step sister.
I'm being nice and rounding up to 4 stars because it was enjoyable, though the middle dragged a little bit.
Instead of sticking to my TBR, after loving book 4, I immediately jumped into this book. It's such good smut with a plot. Evangeline Anderson is my most-read author of 2023. When I read her books, I know I'm going to like them. I've never given one of her books lower than 3 stars, so she's always a "safe buy" for me if that makes sense.
If you see me reading Book 2 very soon, we know why...
I love an omegaverse romance and with the added stepbrother taboo, I anticipated this being a fantastic read. Unfortunately, this one just didn't hit the mark for me.
The plot in this book hinges on two things that made no sense to me. First, Ani's disbelief in what she is being told by her mother and stepfather. It all would have been easily enough to prove and if her mother was so concerned, I would have thought she would have wanted to be certain that her daughter knew the truth, and actually believed it. Second, the adoption. Why would Jake agree to it? Even if Ani didn't know the full ramifications, he did.
The book felt drawn out and repetitive at times, but in the end Ani and Jake got their HEA. So there's that. I rate this book at 2.5 and rounded up to 3.
