He reached for her, but came up empty as she took another step back. "Look, forget what I said," she told him. "You and I both know this isn't Hollywood. We're not talking danger and intrigue on the high seas here."
It was time.
He dragged her chair from the desk and hiked his boot up onto it. Reaching inside, he fished out the one piece of evidence that would change everything Jade thought she knew about him.

Her senior year of high school, she enlisted in the US Army. Following basic training, she transferred to the Navy’s ROTC program at the University of Texas-Austin. While at UT, she spent a summer in Washington, DC, as a Congressional Intern. She also worked security for the UT Police.
BA in Political Science in hand, Candace was commissioned as an ensign in the US Navy and sent to Surface Warfare Officer’s School to learn to drive warships. From there, she followed her father to sea.
Candace is married to her favorite soldier, a former US Army Combat Engineer. They live in the American Midwest, where the Army/Navy football game is avidly watched and argued over every year.

I feel conned!
I really do feel conned with books one and two in this particular series. Before I purchase a book I obviously read the synopsis, if I then think it will suit I check the price and the approximate page numbers. Both these books "end" at 80% the other 20% is promoting the authors other offerings. As I said I feel decidedly conned.

This one is a romance suspense mystery that I could not leave alone. The chemistry between them was fun and exciting and the characters were so much fun.
