He was my first and last love. I never want to feel the pain of rejection again.

I left this small town to escape him and his bad boy ways.
But now I’m back and I can’t run from him much longer.
Because he wants to talk to me and won’t take no for an answer.

His looks are still as devastatingly gorgeous as they used to be.
He’s supposed to be the next alpha, but he doesn’t have a mate.
People say that I should be his mate; even the dating agency does.
But he made his choice a long time ago. And so did I.

But here’s the thing about choices.
Sometimes things change, and you have to reconsider.
Sometimes someone deserves a second chance even if they hurt you.
And the question is: Despite the pain of the rejection…

Deep down, do I want to give him a second chance?

The Shifter Mating Agency specializes in interspecies matches. It finds the hottest dates with the hottest wolves, and whether the match is made in heaven or not… ultimately, romance will win the day.

Hi there! I’m Layla Silver, and I’m so happy to see you here :) I’m a mom of three adorable kids and after all these years, still wildly in love with my awesome and hard-working husband. I LOVE to write about hot shifters, whether Wolves, Bears, or Dragons, who are looking for their mates and will do anything to protect them no matter what comes their way. When I’m not writing or spending time with my family (which is pretty rare, but I’m not complaining!), I like to be in the mountains chasing paranormal dreams.

This isn't a terrible book. The writing was solid if a little bland, but the story itself was just not what I was looking for in a rejected mates trope. There was very little angst, guilt, and hate-to-love-you make-out sessions--all of which I live for.

I was craving a rejected mate romance, but this isn’t a true rejected mate scenario, and I’m really bored. Ameta and Kei dated several years prior… I’m fuzzy if they actually recognized each other as mates, but Kei was going through some stuff and felt like he was bringing Ameta down, so he set it up to look like he cheated on her to push her away.

The book opens with Ameta returning home after college where she runs into Kei. Up to this point nothing is really going on. They’ve had a couple convo’s, and there’s a dating app subplot. I’ve heard it picks up with an ex coming onto the scene, but it’s taking too long to get to anything exciting.

Bottom Line- The writing is alright, but the plot is bland, and I’ve got zero feels.

2.5 stars. Not great. Kei rejects Ameta but not to her face. He parades another woman in front of her and then makes it clear when she confronts him that Ameta was just a passing fancy. Now, Ameta is coming back home from college and Kei wants another chance with Ameta as he had not felt good enough for Ameta years ago. They do get matched up by the shifter mating agency but that part really was not even needed for this story so that felt a little strange. I just don't care for the men who sleep around as a plot device and also not that keen on the kitsune story

Want to know how to ruin a mate Romance? Have the male mate sleep with others while he’s not with his mate. Once they meet, he shouldn’t even be able to get it up for another or want to. So to read he slept with other women while she was away and is a playboy just ruins any chance of romance. He KNEW she was his soul mate and mate while he was with other women after he made her think he was cheated. He turned out to be one anyway which isn’t acceptable in mate stories. Loyalty. Which is the whole point of a mate romance. Horrible read and pissed all over what makes mates special.

This is the first book I read but this author. It felt like a standalone but some characters and events from other books were mentioned. Not my cup off tea but I didn't want to rate the book low because it is part of series and the author has a following so my rating would be an outlier. It is 2 ⭐️ for me...

****NOT a rejected mate story. It did not read like true mates (the book has a soul mates concept but there was nothing magical or deep about the bond like in other true mates books) and there never was a true rejection. ****

Aneta a werewolf shifter moved away from her pack to go to college. Before she left she caught her boyfriend, Kei - a kitsune shifter, with another female and as such she broke-up with him. I dont want to reveal too much but not everything was as it seems but it is cliche I did it to for you. She decides to move back to her pack and because she is lonely she signed up on couple of dating apps. One of her matches turns to be a stalker but Kei is there to save her and rekindle the romance. We also get to meet one of Kei's ex-lovers who is involved in some dark stuff. Unlike Aneta, Kai was with multiple women but he justified this because he never let any of the women spent a night that this was ok. If this was a true mates book this would be cheating. Aneta didn't seem to care about any of this but she was potrayed as jealous and insecure.

A bit too cliche for me. Like I said I never read anything by this author but lot of cliche topics: 1) If it's not a virgin then it is a woman that never moves on from her first love. Meanwhile, the guy has plenty of other sexual relationships. 2) the guy "cheated" to save Ameta from pain - years of anger and resentment for her because he couldn't be honest. 3) just something I find annoying: Aneta is African American with hazel eyes and Kei is Japanese with bright green eyes. What's wrong with someone having brown eyes?!

This is Kei’s story, he is Malaki’s best friend; you don’t need to read the previous books to read this one.

I wouldn’t call this a rejected mate story exactly, but more like second chance romance.

I was not exactly a fan of Kei in the beginning especially when we learn about what transpired between him and Ameta. I feel like Ameta handled the situation in the best way she could, but a little more dating wouldn’t have hurt, just so Kei could feel what she felt. I’m not a fan of easy forgiveness so I would have liked more hesitation from Ameta before giving into Kei, even though I have to say she did make him work for it a little.

Not a fan of Britannia and Jonathan!

I did not expect that ending I was completely shocked and glad that things ended the way they did.

Kei and Ameka were young and in love, then Kei’s cousin died and he went to a dark place that he couldn’t see the way out of. He knew that Ameka would stand by him but he didn’t want her to so he deliberately did the one thing she would not forgive, he cheated on her in a place he knew she would see. So, Ameka ran off to college and didn’t speak to or of him to anyone. Now she is returning to Wolf Creek after graduation and sees Kei on her first day.
At first, she tries to ignore him or at least be civil, but his charm reels her in once again and a tentative friendship starts, but as they get closer, there are some that don’t want that to happen.
An enjoyable read with a second chance, jealousy and an awakening of magic.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

Kei and Ameta used to date until he broke her trust. Now years later he wants her back.

It was a lot less about rejection than expected, in fact, it wasn’t at all about rejection. Unfortunately, the rejected mate trope was exactly what I’d signed up for.

It wasn't a typical rejected trope like I've read in so other books.
I like the different story with the fox shifter and I also liked the last chapters with the witch and how Kei evolved to reach his peak. I would have liked him much more if we didn't know how he behaved during their years apart.
I didn't like how Ameta jumped to conclusions and I hate (very strong word sorry) the fact that Kei was "trying" to find her in half the shifter population. If we take the witch for real, he also had non ordinary experiences, sharing people with her etc, although he already knew that Ameta was his mate. WTF???
I understand that it's a shifter romance where things are different than the real world but still this is a big no-no for me.

Even for a short story I could not make myself finish reading it.
I’m not a big fan of second chance romance, maybe I just haven’t read the right one, but usually they breakup over the smallest issue that simple communication could have fixed or cheating (and I despise dirty dog cheaters of all gender/species)

This had both - lack of communication between the H/h and he pushed her away by cheating cause he didn’t want to trap her, she needed to experience life…blah blah blah

And then while apart she didn’t do any growing anyway…..

Wolf Shifter/Paranormal

So- I am always looking for a rejected wolf shifter book but I can never find something that just steals my breath away. This book was good, I think it’s less of a rejected mate and more of a infidelity book. I am not mad I read it, but it’s not what I thought it would be. It has the HEA I love, but again- the title was a little misleading. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood to read the book?

Second chance for love

He missed her all these years and now he wasn't sure if he would become the next leader of his clan. She's finally finished school and is morning back home but the first person she see is he ex boyfriend. The characters will take you through twists and turns throughout their journey to be mated. Great ending to the series.😊

This is a great second chance story.

I have to admit that it was fun to watch these two continue to circle each other. They both still loved each other but they hurt one another and were having a hard time dealing with that.

I love that they were each others person and also their support person. It was nice to see.

Rejected Wolf #3

This was amazing. I loved the characters and was so glad they made it back together. I'll admit that when he was stabbed I spent the rest of that time crying. I was so broken hearted for her, I felt her grief, as I have been through the same thing, losing the one I loved. That's a good author that gets the reader so involved in the story.

I didn’t realize that this would have me up until the wee hours of the night. This is a page turner! This story hooks you and you have to turn the page to see what happens next…well I didn’t expect that!…and you just keep going. Such a phenomenally well written story!!!

Final book?

This was a delightful shifter romance. I was enthralled with the first two books and enjoyed the continuity of pack characters battling injustices. There seem to be enough material for more books, so keeping hopes up.

Ok

I really liked the previous books in this series, but this book was just ok for me. The characters were good, but I didn't really care for the plot. There was a bit of action and suspense, but overall it was just ok.

Well-written, but not a rejected mates story. This story doesn't have mates, they were boyfriend-girlfriend. So when they inevitably get back together, it's just someone getting back together with their ex boyfriend. Nothing remarkable.

Umm... The title is very misleading. This is really a second chance story 4-5yrs after a really bad breakup. Also, mates are chosen and not destined so a rejection of a mate wouldn't even apply. Just saying! Other than that okay story.

Good book

Short but still good. A book about a girl who's boyfriend gets scared and let's her pretend he's cheating. 4 years later he still is in love with his ex and will do whatever to win her back.
