Unholy Empire chronicles the duel between God and the fallen angels as both focus their attention on the Seed. The devils watch for any and every sign of the Seed in an all out effort to stop, delay, compromise, or otherwise destroy this impending prophetic nightmare. If they fail they are all doomed.

The second book in the "Chronicles of the Host Series", Unholy Empire uncovers the major themes covering the Seed and the people of covenant as well as Lucifer's all-out war against them. I really love this story, I really dislike the writing. It took me forever to read because it was so dry. But the angelic perspective is thought provoking. It gives new meaning to the stories if Genesis with the heavenly perspective.

Just because he got booted out of the Garden, Lucifer is not done yet. Not by a long shot. No, he and his horde are going to find this “Seed” and make sure it never comes to the light of day. Lucifer and his gang are now infiltrating humankind to make sure this Promised One never will appear. This all out war against humanity is creatively woven in Lucifer’s encounters with Cain and Abel, Moses and Pharaoh, David and Goliath and others. This second tale of the Chronicles of the Host will pull the reader into that supernatural world we all sometimes would like to see. Be warned, this is not for the faint of heart.

Another great read

Really enjoying this series. It's fascinating to read the otherside of the story. So thought provocating and really stirring thoughts of questions I never knew I had.

What a way to bring the unseen spiritual world into the light! This entire series had me hooked from the first book. The author paints a fantastic but believable image of what could have happened when Lucifer decided to make his fateful decision to go against God. The entire series is a must-read!

Wonderful follow up to The Exile of Lucifer. This focuses on Satan and his army trying to sway Eve's seed from saving humanity. I enjoyed the story and am currently on the third book.

I had a really good time reading this book just as much as the first one. This kept me thinking about what the angels and demons were doing throughout the bible times.

This book picks up from where the last book leaves off and just continues through the bible.

I enjoyed seeing where the book was going and seeing what was going to happen not only to the people but what the angels and demons as well. Seeing the plans that Lucifer is putting the people through and how the angels help to stop those things from happening.

This book made me think and see the Bible a little differently about the Bible. Mainly because I never really gave much thought to what the spiritual things going on in the lives of the people in the bible and how that can affect our lives.

I am excited to see what happens next in the series because I like seeing everything play out in the angels point of view.

Im 3/4 through this and Im a little disappointed in it coming off of the precursor - The Exile of Lucifer. Even as far as I am in it, D. Brian Shafer continues to remind the reader of details from the previous book. While, normally, I wouldnt fault someone for this, I dont need to be told 10 times that Rugio is the general of Lucifer's armies!! Small detail, but it left a bad taste for me.

Also, there are less philosophical debates in this book which was something I really enjoyed in the first.

I consider Chronicles of the Host among the best Books I've ever read. I read them a few years ago, so I was delighted to find a fifth book--Fire and Sword-- added to the series and promptly ordered it. As Paul so aptly pointed out our battles aren't just about flesh and blood, but powers and principalities in the heavenly realm. The author gives us an excellent taste of what that means. Even though fiction, the author went through a great deal of effort to keep the flesh and blood stories scripturally correct.

This second book in the series ends at the death of Moses, just before Joshua leads the Israelites into Canaan. It is quite fascinating how the author manages to follow the Biblical storyline, plus adding in the viewpoints from the angelic Host and the fallen demons.
