Too Hot to Handle #4

Best Friend Mistake

Rate this book
I hate those three words…
Lights. Camera. Action.
My best friend, lifelong neighbor and famous TV bachelor
He loves those three words.
Little does he know?
I love him.
But I’m nothing more than a fake reality show episode for him.

Cooper getting his heart broken on live television…
Was one thing.
Coming back and asking me to be his fake girlfriend…
That was another.

I said yes.
Any good friend would, right?
Wrong.

The massive crush I have on him complicates everything.
And, oh yeah,
The biggest and most sexy complication
Avida.
The bachelorette runner up from his show has crept back into his life.
And is battling for a place in his heart.

I don’t want to be a part of his mess.
And I definitely don’t want any part in his fame.
Even if I have to walk away with a broken friendship
And a broken heart...

Will Cooper realize that I’m the one who deserves that last rose and a
place next to him at the altar? Or am I the runner up in our love and
friendship?
Stay tuned to find out.

I am a huge lover of the friends to lovers trope, and this book used it so well. Not only are the two main characters best friends, but they are also fake dating on a reality show. I genuinely didn't want to put this story down.

Hearts are put on the line and a friendship is put to the test within this romantic story. One choice to help out her best friend by pretending to be his girlfriend becomes more impactful that she realized it would when her feelings for him start to complicate things.

Throughout the story the romance that blooms is wonderful. Even with the ups and downs. It was so well done. I really enjoyed this story.

I saw this book on facebook and it sounded pretty good so I thought I would check it out. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me so here’s my opinions and why I gave it a low rating.

The h: I thought the h wasn’t that bad. I thought she was a strong independent woman…when the H wasn’t around. Anything to do with the H and she became a pathetic, lovestruck doormat. I was shocked at how many times she let his behavior slide because she “loved him”.

The H (if we can even call him that): IMO he was a self-centered, egotistical, douche. Im sorry but I did not like him at all. Even the epilogue couldn’t save him. Throughout the whole story all he cared about was himself and becoming famous. It didn’t matter how he did it or who he hurt as long as he got what he wanted. And the most frustrating part was when he knew he was in the wrong but didn’t do anything about it. His way of fixing things, was acting like nothing ever happened or placing the h in the friend zone and saying she’ll get over it because their “friends” and she knows how he is.

- I felt like the H didn’t truly love the h as anything more than a good friend. He was attracted to her and thought about her but that was pretty much it. It’s not till around the 90% mark that he finally confesses his love and I’m sorry but IMO its too late at that point.

- This is just a me thing, but I hate when the H or h are with OP after they already have a connection. And even though the H eventually stoped the make-out session with Avida, he was still VERY into what they were doing. And don’t get me started on how he had to really try hard not to look at her getting changed in the dressing room.

- Another thing that bothered me was the way the H acted when he was around Avida. She totally crashed his date with the h and he said nothing. She made fun/insulted the h in front of him and he did nothing but laugh. She calls his home town a “Hick Town” and making comments about if she stayed, she’ll become a “Slack-Jawed-Yokel. And he says nothing. She was rude to his MOTHER and almost made her fall and what does he do? NOTHING!!!

- The side characters were okay. I liked Nick. I didn’t care for how he kept making excuses for the H behavior but overall he was a good friend to the h.

Overall it wasn’t a horrible story, it just wasn’t for me. You may read it and love it but again, this is just my opinion. So yah.

Happy Reading Everyone🤓

Let me just get into it right now. This book is more of a 3.5 for me. First off, I went from liking Cooper to not caring for him, then back to liking him. The majority of the story I didn’t care for him, hence my low rating. This isn’t because he was a bad guy, but because he was so oblivious to everything around him. His mind was focused too much on his fame and getting good PR. I don’t like people like this, nor will I ever understand why they get high from things like this. Why would you want to base everything on what the media portrays you as and feed them. You should always be yourself, no matter what and it includes standing up for yourself and how you feel mentally. It drove me absolutely crazy that he forgot himself and cast his feelings, and Jolie aside like it was nothing, all for the media, his popularity and getting back in good graces. If this is what fame is then I don’t want any part of that and applaud those who deal with it on a daily basis but don’t forget themselves in the process. I found myself siding with Jolie most of the story because what she was getting, she didn’t deserve. I wanted to get into this book more, but it just wasn’t happening which is another reason it gets a lower rating for me. I guess a part of me was expecting more to come out of this too because of how Cooper was shown in book #3 and the way that ended. Maybe the last two books in this series will make up for this one.

Phew!

First let me say that I love this author, but this was a "toughy" for me.
This is a much "heavier" storyline in comparison to the others I've read by this author and I admit I struggled in one or two places.
For me there were instances that were just too long-winded and I find myself zoning out.
However, I persevered......and I'm glad I did!
I read it in one sitting and, overall, I enjoyed it. Sadly, on this occasion, it's simply not one of my favourites.
But you can't please everyone!
However it does have my favourite ending.... a HEA. ❤️
Onto the next book I go!

This book is a wonderfully written Best Friends to Lovers story. Cooper is a fame hungry, daft, self absorbed man. Jolie is a strong, loyal, devoted woman. They have been friends for many years. Cooper comes back to town and things change. Lots of drama, hurt feelings and angst. It had me getting all the feels... Definitely gets you roped in pretty early on. It is fast paced and kept me wanting to see what happened next. At times it seemed like a train reck waiting to happen. Love the ending!

I found the story to be good But cooper was stupid

I read this very good book, My opinion of the hero if he can be called that Cooper was really stupid. All about his fame and his glory while walking all over the woman and the people in his life that he should have respected. I believe this is the 1st book where the man has acted so blatantly stupid, but maybe that's what the author wanted. At least I didn't wanna put the book down or quit reading it because of his character. I had to see if he wised up which he did.

Cooper and Jolie's story was great. Though Cooper seemed to be clueless to what was happening, you see him come to life when he FINALLY sees the truth. Jolie is a strong independent woman who know what she wants, even if it seems unlikely to happen.

You'll enjoy this book. Give it a read!

Cooper is back in his hometown and he is excited to meet his best friends. But one question will change things between him and his closet and best friend Jolie.

This is one is a sweet and good book with the backside of reality tv and friends on a fake date.

Whilst the book was okay and followed on from the previous in the series well, Cooper was just unlikeable. I struggled with Jolie and her alternating personality from independent to insecure. .

Good read

It was a good read but it took me three days to get through it. With the on again off again romance of Cooper and Jolie it made things difficult. But I loved the ending.
