Don’t get me wrong - her killer curves, big smile, and way-to-eager-to-be-married-to-me attitude is kind of attractive.
But this isn’t me.
I’m the guy on the team who makes sure this kind of crap doesn’t happen.
There’s one choice - end the marriage. Pronto.
I’m going under the knife for shoulder surgery and my plan is to wake up with a new shoulder and be a single man.
I couldn’t be anymore wrong if I tried… * * * Mari
It’s the same cliché thing I’ve heard for years: ‘Why can’t you be more like your sister?’
So on my sister’s wedding night I just so happen to meet the tallest, biggest, strong man ever.
He’s the best man at a different wedding.
I’m not sure if sparks were flying, but the drinks were flowing, and we ended up getting married.
I already know it’s coming when he says we need to end the marriage. Of course that’s the logical thing to do.
We’re strangers.
We have separate lives.
It was an emotional decision by both of us.
All I have to do is sign the papers and move on.
Right?
Well…
What kind of wife would I be if I wasn’t there when my husband wakes up from his shoulder surgery? What kind of wife would I be if I wasn’t there for him as he went through his physical rehab so he could get back on the ice as the sexy grumpy hockey player that he’s rumored to be?
Yeah, he might be a little mad at me now.
But those feelings will pass.
As far as actually falling in love?
Let’s just say…
But Remi knows what do with his big stick - on and off the ice.
It was actually a romcom. For once, I wasn't cheated by the cover.
It started quite cute and sweet. They got accidentally married one day and the next day decided to get divorced before the guy went under the knife for a shoulder surgery. Except that the heroine didn't want a divorce and somehow forced herself in his life.
I love these two MCs but mainly our girl. She got balls. She never gives up despite the nonsensical rivalry she had to endure in her family. The most important thing was that she never gives up on the idea of them. I like that in my heroines.
My problem was mainly the climax scene between the heroine and her sister. That was weird af. Drawing??? I don't get it. It could be written better.
I really did not like the style of writing at all. It felt like I was reading a Wattpad novel written by a 13 year old. There was no depth to the characters and it made for a really boring read. I wanted to dnf at 10% but I always finish a book no matter how horrible. The immature competition between the fmc and her sister plus the husbands was just unreal. And to not have any growth there really didn’t do it for me. Also the “spicy” scenes were not hot. They were also not written very well and I skimmed through a lot of it. And I hated how every last sentence for scene changes and chapters was in italics. For why? I definitely would not read any other book by this author if this is the style for all of her books. It had a lot of potential and I wish it was written better bc the story line was interesting.
I’m going to be as nice as possible because I legitimately enjoyed the first and second books of this series, but there are a lot of things that bugs me about the DETAILS. (Minor spoilers)
After two books I can still easily say I have no idea what city they’re in. You would think if a series was centered around a hockey team, then it would be mentioned at least once, but it isn’t.
Another issue is the hockey schedule. You mean to tell me that wren went through an entire pregnancy and had a baby to n the off season that only lasts a maximum of five months IF AND ONLY IF the team DOESNT make the playoffs(which half the teams in the league do) this was an issue with the first book I read by this author from a previous series that I DNFd because I was disoriented about the season, and how a baby’s age matches up to it.
The FMC’s family did not deserve forgiveness especially after her sister threw infertility in her face just to make waves out of jealousy. You should never EVER tease someone or make snide comments about a medical issue(that was never detailed or even explained) that causes such emotional pain. The entire clan deserved zero contact from Mari.
Another thing that bugged me, is there are zero last names. After two books, I haven’t seen a single last name for any character. It just feels like details that make a book more fleshed out are missing.
I felt like the story had great bones, I enjoyed the banter, the spice, the silly and sweet moments, I just think the characters, setting, and back stories need to be fleshed out a little more. I had a hard time picturing characters in my head. Other than wren having brown hair, and Mari having killer curves, I didn’t really know what they look like.
I’ll still read the others, now it’s a game to figure out what city they’re in.
Glad to continuation of character building, having Abel & Wren and baby Izzy prominently part of the story was pretty sweet. Remi’s usually the voice of reason but meeting & marrying Mari was a leap of faith unfortunately Remi doesn’t remember most of it. Remi is dealing with rehab and trying to help his struggling team. Mari has family issues. For almost 400 pages, the story moves fairly quickly.
**** 🥅❤️🔥🏒 spoiler alert 💋⛸🫶
There’s couple of things that were just left flopping in the wind. Why can’t we get anything on Remi/Riff deal is so out Remi’s character to hold such a grudge, any type of explanation even if it’s an internal rambling would be helpful. Mari infertility … any kind something to put this in perspective, she supposedly craves a child she will never have, but seems not consider any options or give any clue why she know pregnancy isn’t possible. Seem less genuine to make such a point of something so major and yet still sweep it under the rug. Again, consistent unnamed zero detail of the GM “scandal” was quite annoying. Show a headline, make it part of the sports media zingers. to lose a GM and everyone is zip lipped no crumbs at all, but still has been mentioned over and over and over just quit beating that dead horse.
Meet Remi, the guy everyone on the hockey team looks up to….. "the father figure" if you will, who keeps everyone in line. He's the best man at his friends wedding, but he steps away to grab some fresh air and a moment to himself, at the reception. There, he runs into Mari, a smokin hot chick at her sisters wedding, at the same venue. Mari has never measured up to her sister, according to her parents. Remi and Mari start talking, the drinks are flowing, and next thing you know....they wake up the next morning....married! How did this happen? What do they do?
Remi is having surgery and he and Mari agree they need to get divorced. Only when he wakes up from surgery, they are still married!
Follow their story through the ups and downs of this marriage as they try to figure stuff out, while denying that they are falling in love! The sisterly competition takes a turn for the worse, when Mari's sister does the unthinkable! Find out how far a jealous sister will go and if true love does win in the end!
Another brilliant rom com from London Casey! A 5+ star read, that you don't want to miss!
Some of the problems I had with the first book are present in this book, too: the repetition of the same "we got married the night we met" -- over and over throughout the book. It's so annoying!
Speaking of annoying: Apple Cats?! Really?! Of all the names you could have come up with for a fictional pro hockey team? the
Also, while we're talking about annoying: I didn't like Mari. At all. She was weak and wimpy and she got on may nerves (how are you going to get jealous over a stranger you married?!), and her character was never redeemed IMO in this book.
And then, her family! I can't think of strong enough words that Amazon will allow to describe these horrible people.
The best part of this book? Gloria, Remi's physical therapist.
I'm debating as to whether or not I want to keep reading this series. Are all of three men going to end up with unlikable women? (No, I didn't really care for Wren...and some of the conversations Wren and Mari have are just weird.)
Waking up the day after Abel and Wren's wedding was anything but normal. Remi could party like the rest of the Apple Cats but, these days, recovery time took a little longer. Not that he was old, well maybe a little older than some of the guys. Remi was their protector. He kept the guys in line. So when Remi realizes, not only was he at Abel and Wren's wedding, at some point last night he got married. Remi doesn't need a wife. What he needs is to be in peak physical condition, ready for the ice. He needs his shoulder fixed and his new wife Mari, in his past. Stubborn, grumpy and handsome, that was Remi. But his beautiful, intelligent new wife Mari? Well, she had other plans and stubborn, grumpy Remi was part of them. FANTASTIC STORYLINE! I WAS SO INVOLVED WITH THESE CHARACTERS, I COULD NOT STOP READING!!! THIS BOOK IS STEAMY, HOT AND SEXY! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!
I wanted to love this book. I liked Remi in the first book. But I could not stand Mari in the first half of this book. The way she was jumping with the 'I'm his wife' and standing up to the hockey for them not to tease Remi was a bit much. I feel like there could have been a better reason for her to stick around to help Remi after his surgery. It was just really hard to like Mari in the beginning. She lied and deceived him. She also brought up his money a few times. I was just waiting for to come out as a crazy fan or something.
They did develop a sweet relationship with each other. She could stand up to his grumpiness. But I felt like the second half of this book was a bit of a mess.
Overall, an entertaining sports romance and very spicy. Just not going to knock your socks off with the plot.
So many questions. I like the book in general. Remi and Mari were made for each other. The reason for the 3 stars is because I have so many questions that were unanswered. 1) What happened to Mari’s dad( other than dying but how) 2) Why couldn’t Mari get pregnant 3)What was Rem’s beef with his team mate - starts with R couldn’t remember his name. Also I was really hoping that they could have had a miracle pregnancy- they didn’t talk about adopting/ surrogacy or anything. 4) Where did the Remi’s sister disappear to and the physical therapist. At this point I am afraid to get into the next book because I fear unanswered questions also. The book felt incomplete to me😩
I was VERY excited to read Remi’s story - he was so kind and watched out for Abel. He watches after the guys.
Remi’s story should have been great -but it was a complete disappointment. Why go straight to the accidentally married trope?? I hate this story for Remi. He marries this woman who is a total sleez. She has no intention of divorcing him as promised. I can’t stand her char and could only go so far before I had to stop. Filed away as DNF.
What a shame. Remi’s story could have been amazing.
It was a great story between two people trying to compromise when they made mistakes. I felt it was a bit too similar to the first book especially both female leads had lost their jobs, they both moved, and both had a good amount of dislike for their sister, and even their sisters had problems with their marriage regarding their spouse. And similarly there wasn’t much to be said when it came to either Abel or Remi’s family background. But the book was still a great read.
Another great book from London giving Remi his own book was a delight to read. The gentle giant marrying Mari the first night there meet, the chemistry between them was of the chart him been grumpy but she stood her ground. I love that the whole team still involved in this book but I have to say I loved Gloria’s character. Definitely a book to read if you like a sports rom com 5⭐️📚💕📚
Seriously!! Remi and Mari are my absolutely favorites of all. These two were meant to be together. A fated couple! I laughed so much with their story. The writing of their dialogue was spot on and so entertaining. My heart hurt for Mari and her not being able to have children. I wish the reason had been told there. This is a definite must read. London Casey is the absolute best! Can't wait for the next book
About 42 % in and I just couldn’t deal with Mari. Remi was a grump but that isn’t exactly uncommon in novels and I can usually deal with a spunky female lead but I just couldn’t deal with the Mari character. There is something to say about being just overly selfish and she is. I am sure she would get her act together by the end but being that I was not even half way and I wanted to just put myself out of my misery says something. But ole nope.
OMG !!!!!! Remi and Mari are my absolutely favorites of all. These two were meant to be. I laughed so much with their story. But also had tears. I really couldn't put this book down until the end. My heart hurt for Mari with family drama. This is a definite must read. Thank you London Casey. Can't wait for the next book
The Waking Up Married Situation is book 2 in the awesome Situation Sports Rom Com series written by the talented author London Casey. This is Remi and Mari sport romance story. They have great chemistry and the bantering was a lot of fun. I absolutely loved this book. It's a fast-paced page-turner with characters you will adore.
I love this series and can not wait for the next book it’s like torture I don’t want to read them too fast as I don’t want it to be over then I find myself awake at 2am binge reading.
I love an drunk married story. These two are so amazing together. The games though....oh wow.....the games. I couldn't handle that. I'm not done with these two though. I need more. Did they adopt? Did they decide just to be dog parents? I can't handle not knowing!!!
Totally thought this was gonna be like all the rest of the got drunk woke up married books but Man I fell in love with Remi and I was gonna kick him if he screwed it up. Well not really just not liked the book. Lol. These guys have that hard exterior and teddy bear inside I love this series.
Loved this book. I love the way Remi and Mari interact. Their banter is awesome! This book has all the feels. Mari is way more forgiving then me. I would have divorced her family long ago! LOL. I highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed the first book with Abel and Wren. But I loved Remi and Mari's love story!! Dramatic, crazy, and just frickin awesome!!! I can't wait to read the next book!💖💗💝
I really enjoyed the first half of the book. The ending was decent but all the stuff with her family was just lackluster. The sister just gets over herself and that's it. I just feel like there should have been more.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Unconventional, unexpected and really caring, these two were made for each other & they eventually see it too. But is it too late when the divorce decree is filed?? fun story .
Just love Remi and Mari's story. Lots of laughs, but also a few tears. Everything you want in a Romantic Comedy. Can't wait for the next one. Oh, and Abel and Wren from book one have their baby.
