The brutally handsome stranger in the black leather jacket wasn't exactly the kind of man Jayne Barrington encountered in her world of wealth and privilege. But that scarcely mattered now, because he'd just dragged her into his world -- at gunpoint!
Boone Sinclair claimed she'd stumbled into an undercover investigation of a murderous drug cartel. And the only way he could keep her alive was to convince the real criminals he was keeping her prisoner -- for his personal "pleasure."
It wasn't easy playing hostage to this man's passion. But it was even harder pretending -- even to herself -- that she didn't want to make this deadly masquerade the real thing....
Linda Winstead Jones is the bestselling author of more than eighty romance novels and novellas across several sub-genres. She’s easily distracted (Look! A squirrel!) and writes the stories that speak to her in the moment. Paranormal. Romantic Suspense. Twisted Fairy Tales. Cowboys. Her books are for readers who want to escape from reality for a while, who don’t mind the occasional trip into another world for a laugh, a chill, the occasional heartwarming tear. Where will we go next?
In Bed with Boone was another good one. Jayne is a senator's daughter, used to the best things in life, while on a blind date, on her way to get some support for her father, her date takes them the wrong way and gets himself shot. Jayne is horrified, nothing in her life has prepared her for that, there are six men and though she attempts to escape she is caught by Boone. Boone who she thinks is a bad guy. He tells the men he is with he wants her for himself.
Boone Sinclair a former cop now a PI, helps find children and he has been working on a case undercover. So, Jayne walking in the wrong moment is not good for him, he sees that her date is still alive, so calls for help for him stealthily and tries to save her. He knows that they are like night and day, she is rich, spoiled and snooty.
Once they are shacked up Boone tries to keep up the pretense but a horrified Jayne is still scared even after he tells her the truth. Then there is who she is to deal with, since her disappearance is not to go un-noticed, so they make a break for it.
For Jayne finding someone who likes her for herself has not been easy. She is a trooper, though she does complain a bit since she is not used to running for her life. Boone and Jayne spend the night together but part ways, since Boone says they are too different and he still needs to get back to his case no matter how dangerous.
Things so happen that Jayne lands right up in the middle of it again, though Boone tells her to run she doesn't. Jayne was gutsy but still afraid and that rang true to me, Boone was someone totally different from her and she planned to let him be in his life. Boone on the other hand was not that sure that they could hack it and kind of afraid of what she made him feel.
I felt Jayne was the stronger one, more willing to take chances. A solid Sinclair book.
Boone lived up to his reputation from the first in the series book. He was dark, bossy, handsome and liked to do things his way. But his heart waa forever in the right place. He found lost children. He didn't quit and he didn't pull punches when it was called for..
