Birthed from a beautiful ocean given by a rough tide with uncontrollable waves Two head on collusive bodies of water flooded with debris Through hard travels, sunny days, and even colder nights Birthed a new wave. Birthed a new life. Birthed a new embodiment of the ocean and its harsh waters. Made of pure love' conception through rhythmic deception. Another Porter. Clear Water.
When entering the world of my books. Dive in with an open mind and heart. Leave your expectations at the cover and go on the journey with my characters. I hope it’s one you can enjoy.🤎
Man, What a good story….I love these characters and I hope and pray that they are still talking to Ms. Nina. so that she can pen more from the Porter/ Dennis clan….Although Sav is my favorite, I can’t help but still feel a way for Wreck….he feels like the odd man out....Even my boy Dem is content. But, now that I really think about it...perhaps we might just get another book about Wreck...I'm thinking because we were introduced to his granny Ms. Deborah and from the other books...his mother Demetria and Oceanana were best friends at one point....perhaps there's a story there after all....I'm hoping it will also continue with the Dennis girls too...I'm just hopeful...I didn't want this story to end. Plus I NEVER get tired of Sav's wise cracks. Let Him Use You Ms. Nina.
This was the best book out of the Porter series. I laughed so much! Clear Water was much needed after Front St. Porter and On Us. Clear Water was like a breath of fresh air. Pav deserved every good thing that happened to her!
Listen 🗣 534 pages of pure cocaine ‼️‼️ I didn’t do anything but read after I started nothing but dive into the Porters I couldn’t stop even when I wanted to. If you are not familiar with The Porters you need to catch up and join the family. Pavati was such an addition to this family 🥺💕this read was perfect. It flowed you can tell it was done with time and a lot of love. That’s what I felt the most reading this book. It’s something about reading beautiful brown people in love having love and loving each other so much . Flaws and all they are the perfect family each person is needed. This book moved like a well-oiled machine. I laughed until my stomach hurt eyes watered without even being sad just genuinely happy enjoying these family members that Nina has given us. Daly in his sister are everything that I knew Nina would make them. This love story left me with a permanent smile and a full heart. The growth of these characters was outstanding. You continue to show us that our flaws don’t define us the way we love does. This is gonna be one of my favorites and I’ll stand on that forever 💕. If I could give this book 100⭐️’s I would. Thank You NINA 😘 P.s Reading Order Front St. Porter , On Us 1-3 , Clear Water 💦✨ GO GET THAT
Ugh 😩 🥹🙂↕️❤️ All the feels!!! I loved Pavi and her love interest Daly put this story over the top for me! Pavi’s perceived perfection was so interesting to read especially since she has so many similarities to her brothers. Speaking of the Porter Boys I loved all the updates!! Everyone seems to be doing good! I hate that Wreck is struggling though (I am ready for his book!) and I agree with Vant on the family functions tidbit😒. Dem continues to unravel layers as a character and his connection to TJ’s sister is interesting. ( I want to read his book before I express more on that.) Lake and Pav were so connected! Ugh, so many feels! Daly and his sisters were so refreshing to read too! This book was just so refreshing coming off On Us! I will come back to this book because I love this couple and family so much! Mental health is a running topic in this book and I loved the parallels explored here compared to On Us. Again amazing book and review content warning before reading!
I am so sad that this story and the Porter boys have come to an end!!!! I could read about this family all day every day. What a pleasant surprise to get a female version of the Porter boys. I love the connection that Pavati and Daly shared, the instant family that they created and the chemistry between the two. I think it was only right to pair the two together. I’m also glad that Pavati didn’t have to go through a whole bunch of drama or some big scandal to have the love of her life. I loved catching up with Lake, Vant, Sav and Dem. My only complaint has been the same throughout the whole series…. Wreck. Apparently it’s the middle child syndrome. He just always seems to disappear in the story. We never get enough of him, his story line is always left lacking. He’s the only one to not get a HEA, hell he didn’t even get the girl. I think that after being shortchanged in the last 5 books that he should get his own. Also I would love to get stories on the Dennis girls or a series on the kids once they’re grown, hell I’ll even take a story on Muji and Meeka. We need to know if all that counseling worked and if the cycle was broken
While I liked the other books that came before this one, this one was more my speed. My favorite of them all. I loved Pavati! And I always enjoyed Daly (for the most part) even in the other books. Their story was really sweet and fairly wholesome all things considered lol. I just really like seeing the evolution and growth of all these crazy characters in general lol. This one felt like a breath of fresh air.
Also, I’m not Wreck’s biggest fan, but I wouldn’t mind some type of conclusion to his story. I feel like everyone kind of got something except him.
By far my favorite book in the series 😩😩 I love Pav so muchhh, and seeing all the growth in the former menaces-to-society we know as her brothers was so great to witness. This book truly felt like a breath of fresh air. Adding a girl to the Porter boys was exactly what the series needed.
Honestly, the author could’ve added another 500 pages and I wouldn’t have complained. I ate up every interaction Pav had with her brothers—I could read a whole series of just that alone.
And Daly??? He just became my main squeeze ❣️❣️ 10 ⭐️’s!!
Que “Never can say goodbye” by the Jackson 5……534 pages of pure bliss!!!! I don’t want to say goodbye to the Porter clan! This series was everything! I’ve never felt more connected and invested in book characters in my life! This was one of the best series I’ve read and I thoroughly enjoyed how everything came together. The growth and pettiness of these characters was everything! While the books were all 400+ pages, nothing seemed to drag out. From the vacations and drama and everything in between, it was all so necessary and told with ease and enjoyment. I thought I couldn’t love anyone more than Lake and Avery and here comes Pav and Daly stealing my heart! Hopefully we get more from them all in the future! I’d love to see the kids have a story as they grow up! Nina did her MF thing and she will get an instant read from me with anything she releases!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
534 wasn’t enough! This book was perfection. I loved it from start to finish. Daly to the porters has always made me love him. Now watching him love baby sis made me love him even more. They love story was beautiful! I’m happy for Daly. He really is a good man and deserved to find some peace.
Erie sweetie find yourself some business immediately! It’s needed! I’m about sick of you. Get a hobby and some anger management. LIKE STAN UP B I T C H !
Wreck find you some healing like yesterday! The extra carrying on you was doing in this book!!!! You need to get the gloves!
Sav and dem makes my heart so full!
Lake…..that’s a black king right there! The way lake loves his ppl is unmatched. I guess I’ll thank his lil wife for not getting on my nerves this book. I enjoyed her.
Lake and Daly love and loyalty between each other. I love to see
Emery is wreck child and you can’t tell me other wise! Eat eat my a s s
I wish Hassan could see this! All and all he helped created some of the dopest, caring, loving, cocky as children and I love that for them.
When they had to explain to they sister what being a porter means! My heart! She better act like she know!
Nina really the goat with this family! I never wanna see them end! I’m 6 books in and could go for 74748319 more books of the porters! I even wanna see the children when they get older.
River needs a pop pop immediately. Gotta watch her! She got mucci and Hassan blood.
Three years now nina has had me in a choke hold with her characters. I love it here.
How do we say goodbye?! I don’t want to let them go! This entire series has been 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎. You will feel every range of emotion when you’re reading series.
Anytime a book opens in prayer I know I’m in for a treat. Pavati Porter is such a pure soul and definitely one of my favorite FMC’s. It was so refreshing to get a female POV of the Porter’s. And it was even more satisfying that Pavati did not have to suffer in the same way her brothers did.
I was so happy to learn more about Daly. Seeing how he stepped up for his sisters and sacrificed his own childhood, so they could have stability was so beautiful. His mama though, she just did not care about burdening her son smh.
Daly and Pavati were the perfect paring. I absolutely fell for their bond immediately. The family they built together was so organic. I mean both of these to know about sacrificing for the ones you love, so for them to find the ultimate love in each other was just so beautiful to read.
Some of my favorite moments: 1. Pavati sweet nature. She is so pure and innocent 2. Pavati and Mujihun!! 🤎🤎 3. Woemi and TJ relationship 4. The Poems 5. Savs crazy ass 😂 6. Pavati relationship with her brothers! Especially Lake & Dem 7. Daly showing you to Pav house with the mixed-match shoes on 😂 😂 8. Of course the proposal, I’m s sucka for a good proposal, and Daly didn’t disappoint.
I loved the way the brothers embraced Pav. Their growth has been amazing- especially Lake. I couldn’t get over how much he’d changed. Daly and Pav were so cute. I was expecting big time drama from the Porter men about it but I’m glad they had their blessings. The scenes where Oceana was with both Lake and Pav were really special. I’m proud of O and she is so funny. Speaking of funny- Sav. He kept me laughing. He was truly a character and I loved how he loved his nieces. Speaking of nieces- if the Porters don’t do nothing else- they gone have some KIDS 😂
I felt like we were missing a lot about Wreck. I’m hoping he gets the spotlight at some point. I’d love to read about what he has going on.
Lastly, I love the way this author included mental health struggles (and triumphs). These things are important in our community and not everyone knows to deal with them.
Listen when I first picked up Clear Water, I had no idea who this book was going to be about. This was a huge surprise. But.. wow? Is it really over? Over until we get Wreck’s book? I can’t believe it. How long is the wait? I am so, so proud of these brothers. Words can’t express how much this book was everything. Nina, you’re officially on my auto buy list. Your pen game is out of this world. The way you provoked so many emotions in me throughout this entire series needs to be studied. All in all, I loved this series guys, with my entire heart. If I could show you guys my heart right now after reading this, I would. Time for the spoilers because, there are so many things I have to say.
I loved how even though the boys just met Pavati, she literally fits right in. It’s like she’s the missing piece they’ve always needed. The scene of them bonding and letting her smoke for the first time with them is one for the books. I also love how she has her own special bond with each of them, but the one with Lake just hits so different for me. Seeing how Pavati, Lake and Oceania bond and her being the bridge for them healed me so much. I never thought we’d get here between Lake and O, but Lake isn’t even the same person he used to be, he’s grown so much. We know I love me some Lake, but this series was true character development for everyone. Wow. It’s crazy how so much has changed since I read Front St. We have these special ladies Avery, Ivy, Chi, and now Pavati to thank for this.
I also loved when her and Lake had their scenes together, it was so entertaining sometimes Especially when Pav was playing in Lake’s hair!😂 It was so nice. It felt the same as hers. When she smoothed them down, his waves went right back into place. “This is niceeeee,” Pavati said making Lake crack up. “You wanna feel mine?”
I honestly love Daly and Pavati together. Yet another great love story written by Nina. There were bumps in the road, but they still got there. They’re kinda like homies but lovers. To me, that’s the best type of love. Pavati is honestly that girl. She was secure within her relationship and she leaks confidence. But she’s also very pure and genuine, she is truly a kind soul. So on top of a great love story, I still got to see my boys and their kids. River is still a miss lil sassy pants, I SEE😂 I love how being blood related to them isn’t the only thing that defines family. Love does.
I also loved the bond between Dem and Pavati. I wish she was there for Dem when he was experiencing his episodes, but I’m glad he can be there for her now. Him being there for his sister just ugh, I loved this so much. Sav is a mess like usual, will always be the goofiest Porter. The way he was acting when Pav told him she was pregnant was ridiculous 😂😂 Actually no, when he witnessed her and Daly walking out that closet, I fell out!! There is something seriously wrong with that boy😂😂
I feel Pav getting her Porter chain really solidified it though. Of course she’s apart of the family, but that scene just hit me different! Especially when Lake said he had no idea who the chain was for! I can’t wait to get Wreck’s book. He deserves happiness too. Until he gets his serving, my heart won’t be completely full yet. But I sure am so happy after reading this and went through two boxes of tissues!
It’s always going to be Lake for me but Daly was doing some things in this one, lol. Seriously, I really enjoyed this story. I liked that we got to see the other characters from previous stories but it was clear that this was Pav & Daly’s story. The buildup to them becoming more than friends was really good. I loved how they were both so family oriented and did everything for the family. When Pav met her brothers it was so sweet. I really wanted to cry at the scene with Pav and Lake playing one on one- ugh, all the feels! I feel like this book brought closure to the family- like Pav was the missing piece to the story. The writing and character development was great. We really got to see Pav, the highs and lows- she wasn’t perfect but her story was well told. She had this nurturing personality and it showed with everyone around her. I really liked the sub-characters and the way their stories were told. The highlight for me was Pav’s grandparents being accepting and involved. I would have loved if Daly’s mother had come around but I understand her story. Nina always tells a story within the story and I appreciate that about her writing. This was a great book.
It goes without saying, but Nina’s pen game is top tier. The Porter series has been nothing short of amazing. Each book plunges us further into the fold and possesses an uncanny ability to evoke many emotions while reading. The depth of each character, the ability to showcase the flaws in their humanity and make it so whole and relatable is wild.
This installment was no different. We were introduced to another Porter, a young woman, Pavati. We watch as she navigates in unorthodox spaces while finding love in a place she never thought she would; in her brothers, and more importantly in her newfound brother’s best friend.
Man this author has done it again!!!!!!!!!! I loved everything about this book and I would have to say that Clear Water is my favorite Porter now! I loved how Daly loved Pavati even though in the beginning he was afraid to act on his feelings due to her being his best friend sister. Lake was still the mf’ing goat. Vant was still a crybaby 🤣🤣. Wreck poor Wreck that’s all I can say. But I hope he’s able to move on because from the looks of it Gia did. I’m glad Pavati was finally able to found out about her brothers because for Dem that was finally his person. He didn’t have to feel alone anymore neither did Pavati. They have each other to lean on when times get tough. And Sav what can I say? He was the comedian of the book and I would have to say the most dramatic sibling of this book. I swear I ain’t never remember him crying this much. 🤣🤣🤣 Sav and Vant was definitely in competition to see who could cry the most! Overall, if I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. This author definitely knows how to write a damn book. The storyline, the detail, everything about the book is just wow. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!!!!
Clear Water, while not as captivating as the previous works featuring the Porter brothers, still offers a great time.
The Porter family dynamics, with Pav fitting right in among her brothers, offered so much laughter and drama as usual. However, the slow burn of Pavati and Daly’s romance, plus Daly’s familial responsibilities and personal baggage, left me feeling less engaged compared to the On Us books. While the slow progression of their relationship was a bummer, the support and love expressed among the characters were adorable. I also loved how Pav treated Muji. That is her son through and through! Their relationship made my little heart swell.
Biggest Icks * The frequent use of Creole without translation was upsetting because I had to skip over a few things that I didn’t understand. * The obsession Pav’s siblings had with claiming her- idc argue with ya mammy * 5 year old Daly catching a body- BFFR * Tracy is trifling af!
Nonetheless, I love all of the Porters and while the story didn’t hit the mark like the others, it still offered a decent read!
I finally got a chance to read Hassan and decided to just go back and read the entire On Us series again starting with Front Street Porter and ending here. Even all of the blog post on tumblr lol. And let me tell you, it hit just like the first time! I just love the Porter and Dennis clan so stinking much. Nina is that girl, and it was beautiful to see the growth and fully understand what Pavati represents to all of them actually…The epitome of the motherly presence neither of them ever had. She represents what life could have been like for Dem or even Hassan if they had grown in a loving and nurturing environment. It was beautiful to see the restoration of Oceana and her babies. 10 out of 10 recommend. You do need to read all of the other books leading to this one to really get the full impact.
By far my favorite out of all of the On Us books. I like that the Porter bros were side characters in this book because it gives the readers a break from the mental gymnastics that reading their stories brings. Loved Pav and Daly’s story. We got to see Oceana continue to grow, learn more about other parts of her family and we got to see Daly’s sisters and mom. The Porter bros were extremely funny and I love how protective they were of Pav. She’s such a pure hearted character you can’t help but to root for her.
Pav and Daly were so cute together. I enjoyed this story. What I did not like is when the characters spoke in a different language it was not translated. Which left me confused. Over all this was a good read
I’m glad I came back and read this one, not gonna lie Nina had me too hot with the first porter story I read so I kinda gave up on the series. I don’t like busy books with 49469 characters with 494749 separate but overlapping issues so I left the On Us Series alone. I knew enough to be able to understand this story and baby WHAT A STORY IT WAS.
For me this had the perfect amount of angst, drama and longing. The fact that we had two man people to focus on while still hearing from side characters (who remained that) was just perfect. Loved me some Pavati and loved Daly, I appreciated the family aspect and how forthcoming our main characters were about their issues I really and truly have nothing too bad to say about this story at all. Erie and Dem were pissing me off but mostly because everyone was kinda sweeping Erie’s issues under the rug and not getting her on Pie’s couch. This was such a poetic description of all types of love. It wasn’t just the romantic love, it was the acceptance and appreciation of family. Nina Ms. Erie got a story to tell and I’m patiently waiting on it
Such a beautiful book. Pav is so soft, sweet, genuine and gentle when not provoked. I love how her brothers did not hesitate to take her in as their own once they found out who she is.
I wish I could give this book more 🌟. Hands down, this was the best book in the series for me, and I finally fell in love with all the Porter brothers (they started growing on me during On Us). I knew I wanted more of Daly, and this book did not disappoint.
Daly, like the Porter brothers, loves who he loves hard and will do any and everything for them. His friendship and loyalty to Lake was so heartwarming. And I loved how the rest of the Porter brothers respected and treated him like a brother as well.
Daly had been getting the short end of the stick since childhood. His mother was a real piece of work, and the women he dated weren't any good for him. But meeting Pav changed all of that and gave him everything he didn't even know he needed.
Pav was such a breath of fresh air and the missing piece to the bunch. I loved how she was instantly accepted, protected, and embraced as if she had been there the entire time. She fit right in, and their love for her is what made me fall in love with the whole bunch. Sav really became one of my favorites the way he loved and protected her.
I enjoyed meeting Daly's sisters, Pav's son, and her cousin. I really saw the growth and character development of the Porter brothers so much in this one, and I can't wait to read about Wreck because the bits and pieces of him haven't been enough.
I went into this book based on all the 5 star ratings. The synopsis didn't give me anything, so I kinda depended on the ratings. It averaged at 4.9 on both GR and Amazon. My mom always says "We don't dispute tastes and colours." I guess this saying is now applied to books. Cause while the reviews/ratings were high, this book was not it for me. I will admit there were parts I did really enjoy in this book. But it was so hard to follow. There were so many characters, it made it hard to keep up. I felt like this book was a standalone, but it was like I missed a prologue or a previous book or something. All the characters mentioned in the book weren't even minor characters, they all had full on story lines. No hate to anyone with the names in the book, but they were so aggrevating. Mujihan, Pavati, Dalonte, Mansion, Weomi, It was hard to keep up with the dialogue with these names. The story was told in third person but it was like the story was written how the author speaks in her real life. It just was not proper. I speak Haitian Creole fluently and some of the dialogue used in the book didn't translate well. It was like the author used Google translante. Example: the saying "Oh boy" doesn't translate to "O ti gason" in HC. Like that's not a saying we use. Yes that is the literal translation but that's not a saying we use. It wouldn't be fair to talk about all the things I didn't like without talking about things I liked. I LOVED Pavati. Her heart was pure, innocent, so loving, so gentle, so patient. She was so selfless. The way she took on Emery and Muji so willingly ....😍🥰 I felt her love through the pages of this book. I felt her brokenness, her hurt. Daly looovveed his sibblings so so much. They were so for one other. If you have Daly or any of his sibblins on your side, then you're set. Loyalty was everything to them. Pavati's siblings were so overprotective. They were real and so raw and hilarious. So many brokenness within this story. It made the characters real. Although I didn't really like the story, I would recommend it. As it shows in the reviews, I'm one of the very very few who didn't like the story. I would definitely try another one of Nina's book. Maybe this one story just didn't do it for me.. I'm open to trying another book from her catalog.
I didn’t think this series would get a feel good book but that’s what Clear Water is. I love the character development in all the Porters. I really appreciate all the new characters we met while also receiving updates on all the Porters. I love the way Nina showed the ways in which Pavati Porter was similar to her brothers despite not meeting them until she was an adult. I absolutely loved their instant connection to her but also how each one relates to her differently based on their personalities. I especially love how even though they are all starting to unpack their complicated feelings about Hassan and their mothers, they all still honor Lake as the man/boy who raised them. I’m glad Nina didn’t waste time with the brothers being mad at Daly about Pav. I liked how they admitted to struggling with their little sister having a man and all the things that come with that but agreeing that if it has to be anybody they’re glad it’s Daly. Let’s hope Poor Wreck has breakthrough in his book.
Nina blew us away with her On Us series and she does it again with “Clear Water”! She’s definitely one of my top 3 writers!! Clear water was amazing! We were introduced to Pavati, the long lost sister of the infamous Porter brothers. They were shook to find out they had a sister out in the world, but the way they embraced her brought me to tears! Pavati was such a beautiful young woman inside and out! Intelligent, caring, compassionate, selfless, well spoken and a woman of faith are some of the terms I would use to describe her. She is exactly what Daly needed. I loved how we got to know Daly so much more. We learned bits and pieces about Daly in On Us but Clear Water gives us more of a deep dive on Daly and the amazing young man that raised his little sisters without a single parental figure. I loooved Daly!! I loved Pavati! The brothers as usual were absolutely hilarious! Amazing job Nina! Your writing and storytelling is phenomenal! 5 stars across the board!
This was such a beautiful story. I absolutely love Daly and Pav so much. They literally were the perfect people for each other. Coming from the Porter Brothers, this story was refreshing. I laughed and smiled the whole entire book. There were so many special moments. Pav was the missing link in the Porter family, and when she met her brothers for the first time, it was everything. The side characters were such a great addition and wouldn't mind books on them, Daly's sisters. I'm patiently for Wreck's book because he is the only Porter I can't figure out, and I'm dying to see if he gets his happiness.
