Eden Auclair writes the sweet, the sappy, and the heartbreak in contemporary romance. She adores fluffy romance with friends to lovers and age gap, and men who are obsessed with their girl.
Eden is a peach tea connoisseur who lives in the sunshine where her home is the beach. When she isn’t writing, you can find her in a coffee shop drinking tea or on the floor of a library or bookshop getting lost in the pages of a book. She loves fairy lights and red roses. Writing is her passion and she writes to break her readers’ hearts and mend them back together.
Porter and Whiskey is a fast paced book set in a winter wonderland with all the feels!! The story in itself is quite unique and paired with Eden’s magical world building it’s absolutely phenomenal (and filled with hotness🥵)
“Are you even real?” Her nose scrunched. “You’re like one of the men that only exist in my romance novels. Or so I believed.” She squinted. “You were written by a woman,” she accused, pointing a finger at his chest and he couldn’t stop the deep laughter that escaped him. “Yeah, baby. I was written for you.”
porter & whiskey was such a cute, short winter read. one week, snowed in, and one bed… what can happen? a lot apparently lol.
i was not expecting the DDLG relationship nor the spice, haha. what i did love though, was the fact that he started to read because of her. and how he loved reading her notes on her kindle? then proceeded to use said notes to learn about her and adding his own notes on certain scenes in the book?? like what? where’s mine? lol.
the only thing i wished was for this to have been a bit longer. i wanted to know more about their backgrounds and just the history of these two characters in general.
other than that, it was a cute and spicy short read.
▪︎ I went through the book without even reading the blurb, i dived in blindly and I have no regrets actually.
this story is a delicious, sexy and a sweet read and to be honest I never thought I'd love it this much.
porter and whiskey are full of cookies, coffee and hot s♡x
adeline is that heroine you can not ever dislike, she is sweet; adorable and a little reader? it can't get any better until it does and jackson finds her lying on the bed in his room reading from her kindle.
what can go wrong?
nothing will go wrong because these two are so perfect for each other with incredible chemistry and warm vibes.
tropes :
ONE BED trope snow in accidental hotel rooom
their dynamic is by far one of my favorite because they have a GOOD pace in their relationship that I absolutely appreciate more than anything in a book.
The characters were sweet but the way their relationship happened was just so weird. It all happened so fast, and idk, it felt like there were bits of the development of their relationship missing. I didn't really enjoy it.
as someone who has read all of eden's published works, one thing i can confidently say is that she has improved in writing erotic scenes, and porter & whiskey is all the proof.
i have mixed feelings about this book, but it was a good book overall.
i was surprised and honestly taken aback at the ddlg. i'm not the biggest fan of it and sometimes i do feel uncomfortable reading, so eden should've definitely mentioned that before. maybe she did and i overlooked it by accident, though.
moving forward, the postives about this book was the cute fluff and amazing smut. adeline is adorable and jackson is perfection. them bonding over reading was so cute and i loved it.
i just didn't enjoy how quickly their relationship progressed and adeline calling jackson "my man" was a pet peeve of mine, i can't help it but otherwise i did enjoy this book and if you're looking for a quick read with domestic fluff and good smut, i recommend this book.
Having read Ms.Auclair's awesome debut last year i could not contain my excitement for more of her words! So as soon as she announced this story i was so happy! With every beautiful teaser i wanted to dive into this story more and more! I ended up finishing this one in one sitting. I really enjoyed it!
Adeline and Jackson's journey pulled me in right from the get go! The chemistry between these two was undeniable and i adored the moments between them. The reading aspect of this story with these characters was so unique and i loved it! Here's to hoping i find my very own Jackson one day. A woman can dream, right?
With Porter & Whiskey, Ms.Auclair has created such a good read that'll most definitely have you blushing from the heat and smiling from the sweet! Her writing keeps me glued to my kindle. Don't miss out on this one! I can't wait for more of The Whiskey Lodges Collection! ❄️️
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
The cover– I definitely didn't expect the spice behind that cover loll it looked so innocent haha. Now not a huge fan of the DDLG relationship but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. Eden, I see you’ve brought out a kink I didn't even know was there ahhh (haha lol)
3.8⭐/5⭐ 3🌶/5🌶
One of my pet peeves was was Adeline calling Jackson ‘my man’ like bro i- Kind of have mixed feelings about that. They were other things like during in bed her whole deminer suddenly change from shy to sex-crazed? loll
Adeline and Jackson-- oh man! such a bundle of cuteness, he's like the sweetest guy. reading together, looking at her notes and annotations, TAKING those notes and annotations, and MAKING USE OF THEM IRL? go jacksonnn. and to tie everything in! It's a cute and short read. Spicy snowed in read!!! I would recommend this book. 3.8 stars go the smut and the cuteness :)
This was a quick and easy read! I adore Adeline and Jackson with them reading together and taking notes that leads to using those notes in the bedroom 😏 I give you points for that Jackson.
I also love Adeline and her best friend Athena’s relationship because they literally remind me of me and my best friend 😂
The smut in this book is pretty good as well, kinda wish it wasn’t cut short though. And if I’m being honest, I kind of hoped to know more about them, like how did they know each other from childhood. Just those little details would’ve been nice but all in all, it was still a pretty good read.
The first thing I realized I loved about this book was the writing, I thought it was flowing and beautiful. The characters were easy to like and I really enjoyed their journey even though it’s an Insta love/lust situation (the only time I don’t mind Insta love is in novellas which is the case here so we’re good!)
The spicy scenes were hot, but I particularly loved the ones where they would just sit together and read smut (who doesn’t want that with their man?!)
Overall I would totally recommend if you wanna read something quick sweet but still hot.
Loved this short novella or Adeline and Jackson. I want them more, hope to see them in Athena and her mystery man book.
Can we talk about Jackson reading books and putting his own notes then re reading the book for Adeline annotations and notes ❤️😍 That was so cute and romantic. Where can I find like Jackson irl ?
Porter & Whiskey is a Winter themed, one bed trope, spicy short story.
I have been a fan of Eden's work since her debut novel & she keeps getting better and better from one book to the next.
This book was so good. It was sweet, hot, funny and refreshing. The story and the characters are so amazing. It kinda gave this cosy vibes throughout the book.
Adeline is the type of heroine who I relate to a lot. She reads a lot of books and fantasies about all the smutty scenes in them like many of us do. 🙈🙈 But she is also so sweet and a little Baker. She is a type of person who is loved by everyone and nobody would even think of disliking.
Jackson seemed so sweet from the outside. But the man was hiding his Dom nature behind all that sweetness. He read together with her and loved to look at her notes n annotations in the book. It gave him insight of what she is thinking about stuff.
Them as a couple were really cute, hot and sexy. It was surprising that they were into the whole DD/LG kink. Adeline seemed so shy but she really wasn't when it came to sex.
I loved the side characters too. I'm really shipping Adeline's friend Athena and whoever that mystery man was in the end. 👀👀
I can't wait to read the next story in this series.
Personally I did enjoy reading this… I did find it kind of repetitive but maybe it was just because this book is fast-paced. If you are not really the type to read fast paced books, then maybe this isn’t for you. I’m giving it a three star rating because even though I didn’t find it bad, I did find it lacking something.
