Beth Davis's fairy-tale days were over. Or so the single mother of two though! But Beth was a nearly-forty suburban mom. Not exactly Cinderella material...
But somehow Todd saw the Sleeping Beauty within. Why else would the Texas tycoon be wooing her with kisses that left her trembling with longing? But Todd hadn't promised forever, and a fairy tale like hers needed a happy ending. So Beth set out to turn her handsome prince into a loving husband!

Quick and dirty: Beth's a widow with two teenage kids. Her friends buy her a night on the town with millionaire bachelor Todd. She abandons him on their initial date auction date, for which his assistant had booked a super trendy restaurant (per his norm). He is flabbergasted...and a little intrigued. He gets her to agree to another date, and he actually plans this one himself. Note: His assistant gives him the side-eye because he NEVER plans these things!
They're an older couple - he's in his 40s; she's in her late 30s, I believe. After their date, Todd starts hanging out with Beth and her family.
This is a sweet romance (but there ARE some sexytimes) and has realistic relationship development when compared to most of these category romances.
I've read older Susan Mallery stories, and although dated, still enjoyed them. That was not the case with this book. At least 95% of this book is reading about Beth's insecurities and the stupid things she does because of them. If she's not ready to date then don't date; but her wishy-washy, juvenile behavior was ridiculous and annoying. Between Beth's attitude, the way she treats him and how different they are, I have no clue why Todd was the least bit interested in Beth at all. Awful book.
Loved it. Need to have more stories like these kind. A single mother rasing her teens. Beth's friends set her up with Todd a millionaire who dates certain kind of people not someone like Beth. Yet when they meet sure from the start things go wrong but after they start to turn around and hit it off. Soon they are spending time together and Todd is spending time with her children.
Beth is a widow with 2 teenage children. She meets Todd who is a millionaire who normally dates very young and beautiful women.
Todd is attracted to her and he enjoys spending time with her as well as her children.
Beth is constantly challenging Todd by basically saying she does not believe a word he says.
I really liked this book in many ways. But, it got very tiresome having the same dumb comments come out of Beth’s mouth.
I liked that Beth was not a fashion model she was a regular woman. But, I found it hard to imagine that she had been married for nearly 20 years. She lived in the real world and knew almost nothing about relationships.
I am a fan of Ms Mallery and I have a huge number of her books on my Kindle. I will continue to read her books and be very happy. But, this one was just too much repeating the same things over and over. Yeah, Beth had thighs and wrinkles. Golly gee.
But, even though this was an early book by Ms Mallery, it is evident that her talent was right there and shining through.
there wasn't anything that I disliked about this book! It was a book about second love. Dating again after the death other first husband. About blending a bachelor with a family with teenage children. About 2 very different people finding out the things they having in common and building a life together and combining a family. Of course it had it's pitfalls but it turned out happy in the end. That's what I like about Romance novels. They make me feel good. It is very well written and believable in my mind. Susan Mallary is one of my favorite authors and again she didn't disappoint me!!
This is a story of a widow's first relationship after her husband's death. If that is enough storyline to keep you interested, go for it. I like more complexity in my plots. I read about 85% before I knew with certainty that the only thing that would happen was she would keep changing her mind like a seesaw. He was perfect, she was an emotional wreck. Maybe true to life, but only enough depth here for a short story. It made a tedious book.
Very intense throughout the book, starting with Honor working as a relief worker in the Middle East being bombed and her fleeing across country from terrorists. Hancock rescues her but plans to turn her over to complete his mission to take down a Russian mobster. Impossible situations, alpha males and too good to be true woman.

A widow with two teenagers and a playboy bachelor who usually dates 20-somethings meet and are attracted to each other. Their relationship is neither simple nor easy; for her, because she compares him to her late husband; for him, because he’s never seen a good marriage up close and personal.
Will they be able to find their way to a happy ending?
A realistic story about a pretty young widow with to teen children whose friends purchase her a date as thru a charity fundraiser to a local very successful business man with a reputation for dating beautiful YOUNG women.
I found it painful to hear Beth's self doubt constantly being brought up. As well as how old she thought she was - really? 38? I like Susan Mallery's books usually, this just seemed a bit lame too much of the time.
Although somewhat dated, there are several timely highlights still important today. Unlikely that we'd all come face to face with a millionaire but I'd like to think there's a lucky lady out there who does get to date him. Good luck and love to all of us!
I chose this book because of the rave reviews. Within the first few pages, I didn’t care for it. Beth was obnoxious and rude. She acted like she had never been anywhere and didn’t know how to act. None of her history justified her juvenile behavior.
I enjoyed many of your books I love them kept me reading until I finished then I was disappointed I finished the story I hope to read many more keep on going to give joy in a story thank you
This book was a quick intriguing read which focused on grief and letting go as well as moving forward into a new relationship. I liked all the characters and how the story played out.
Beth has had a lovely life two kids and a wonderful marriage until she became a widow at 38. Her friends decides to throw her back into the dating world by buying a date for her at a charity. Enter Todd graham a millionaire who do not date woman like Beth. When date time comes around Beth get cold feet and leaves the restaurant. At first Todd is annoyed by this but becomes intrigued by her. Most of the book is about is can he really be intrigued by a widower with kids and her wondering can she love again. I felt the nature of their dating and the pace they were going was very believable and not your usual jump into bed quickly. Sweet read.
So repetitive that it got boring in places. I felt the kids were too good to be true, Beth had enough going for her that she shouldn't have been insecure, and Todd was so unlikely to change and so quickly that it was almost ludicrous. On the other hand, I was cheering Beth on and hoping for the best for both of them, so it did get to me on some level.
orta kararda kitaplardan biriydi.. Ben pek böyle orta yaşta 40 yaşlar civarı romantizm çok sevemiyorum
Adamımız 25 yaş altı bayanlarla çıkan zengin playboyumuz kızımızda 2 çoğu olan kocasını kaybetmiş 38 yaşında bi bayan Arkadaşları bi randevu ayarlıyorlar olaylar gelişiyor
