Prairie Creek #2

The Thimble Shoppe

Rate this book
A small-town girl, her wounded lumberjack, and an inbox full of warm memories make for this charming sweet romance from USA Today bestseller, Elizabeth Bromke.

When Mabel Ryerson opens her social media to find a friend request from her grandmother, the seamstress’s simple life screeches to a halt.

Grandma Betty died two years ago.

Mabel suspects the old account must have been hacked. Still, curious to a fault, the thirty-something wants to go home to investigate. But her fiance forbids it. Relations are strained among Mabel’s family, and her groom-to-be thinks it’s better that she focus on her new life, away from Prairie Creek and its memories and secrets.

Griffin Dempsey is poised to join his dad at the helm of his family’s logging company. Until the senior Dempsey decides to retire in the tropics. But when Griffin’s father offers the whole shebang to his son, Griffin hesitates. After all, what is the company with its lovable father-son duo working together? Griffin starts the process of closing up shop, but he’s stuck. There’s a reclusive investor who still sits on the company’s board, and he isn’t budging. Griffin would confront the guy, if Old Man Ryerson weren’t related to the one who got away.

Can old wounds turn into second chances? Or will Mabel walk down the aisle with someone who isn’t part of her painful past? The Thimble Shoppe is a sweet, small-town, second-chance romance set in the simple world of Prairie Creek.

Take a trip to the heartlands and fall in love with the townspeople of Prairie Creek in this romantic, Americana-inspired series, where nostalgia for yesteryear meets the modern wonders of today.

This is the second book in the Prairie Creek series. In the previous book, The Country Cottage: A Prairie Creek Romance, which is about her brother Logan, we know that Mabel hasn't lived in Prairie Creek for awhile. Mabel's life is all about routine and order, until she receives Facebook messages from her deceased grandma Betty's diary. This prompts a trip to Prairie Creek where Mabel runs into her high school sweethear, Griffin.

Griffin is suprised to learn that his father is selling the family's logging company and retiring with his new and younger wife to the tropics. Griffin always thought he'd run the business with his father and sets out to gain support from the board of directors to stop the sale. One of the those on the board of directors is Mabel's grandfather.

This book has several storylines going on that kind of intertwine and multiple points of view which I love. Besides Mabel and Griffin's stories, we get to read about grandma Betty's life through her diary entries, which I found very interesting. Second-chance-at-love is one of my favorite romance tropes and this is a great one because Mabel is already engaged to someone when she returns to Prairie Creek. I loved grandma Betty's letter to Mabel, although it meant some things Mabel always believed to be true, weren't true after all.

I liked watching Mabel and Griffin reconnect and realize what they really wanted to do in their lives. It was also fun seeing Logan and Kelly again. I can't wait to read the next book in this small town series. I received a complimentary copy to review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the second book in the Prairie Creek Romance series. In the first book, The County Cottage, we met Logan and heard bits and pieces about his sister Mabel who this book centers around. We also had briefly met Griffin in the first book and he plays an important part in this book. As we continue the series, Elizabeth Bromke doesn't disappoint and keeps us informed on what is going on with everyone. You will feel as if you are part of the family, or at least wish you were! I loved catching up with old and meeting new faces. Love and welcome abound throughout.

Mabel returns to Prairie Creek after she receives a few Facebook messages from her grandma who has been deceased for two years. The messages contain experts from her grandma’s diary. Upon her return she quickly encounters Griffin who had been her first love in high school. Griffin wants to take over his father’s logging business that his father plans on selling. As they both examine not only their past but also what they want in their future they come to realize that they’re right where they belong - with each other.

If you enjoy reading about love, second chances and friendships, you will love this series! I would recommend getting the whole series, because once you start the first book, you will want to be there for the journey to the end!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This story is a sweet second chance romance. Mabel reluctantly returns home to Prairie Creek to identify the sender of mysterious messages. I enjoyed this second installment in the series. While the books are connected-this is a stand alone story and could be read without reading book one. It was nice though, after reading book one to pick up with Logan and Kelly and the charming community of Prairie Creek.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book has several story lines in it. It's an interesting combination of the story lines. At first I was a bit confused because there were different periods in time, different generations, and relationships between characters. It didn't take me long to sort it, though,

This is a wonderful generational story. It's a small town story, and it's a second chance story.

Mable comes back to her hometown to investigate why she's getting emails from her grandmother, 2 years dead. Griffin finds out that his father, newly married to a vivacious new woman, has decided to sell the mill - the place that he expected to run when his father retired. Mable and Griffin had been in love in high school. Now she's engaged to someone else, and he's upset because his anticipated future has been up-ended.

As Mable reconnects with her brother, her grandfather, and Griffin, she finds that things she has believed to be true are not accurate.

This is a clean, sweet story. I enjoyed it and recommend it to people who enjoy stories about small towns, second chance romances, and reawakening family ties. I was given an advance reader copy from the author. This is my honest review.

Generations Of Finding Oneself. In this semi-dual timeline book, we get a pair (well, more two and a half) of stories about finding yourself and refusing to settle. Through diary entries that mysteriously get texted to our female lead, we see how her grandmother struggled as a newly married wife and then later sporadically throughout her years. Meanwhile, said female lead is coming to some realizations herself... while our male lead is having a reckoning with his father and finding himself at the same time he finds himself reconnecting with our female lead. Truly a great interwoven family tale, one where the leads from Book 1 in the series - The Country Cottage - play fairly significant roles. So read that one first, but even then - both of these books are short enough that by the time you've read the two combined, you've read what is still a shortish more "normal" length novel. Thus, both are great for those times when you just need a quick escape or something that you can easily read say at a soccer game or waiting on a layover or some such. Very much recommended.

This is a wonderful second chance story! Mabel has received a friend request from her grandmother who has passed on. She has postings from her Grandma Betty’s diaries. She returns to Prairie Creek, which holds bad memories for her, to try to discover what is going on. There she meets up with Griffin, a special boyfriend from her school days. You must read this one to see what happens with these fantastic characters!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Nice book two in the Prairie Creek series. There are several different story lines currently taking place along with glimpses into the past with the excerpts of Grandma Betty’s diaries, which are mysteriously sent to Mabel. Second chances are a main theme as Mabel continues to struggles with the after effects of the fatal car crash and she is unable to forgive herself for the role she played. She returns to Prairie Creek and meets up with high school sweetheart Griffith, who is trying to determine his future. Logan and Kelly are moving forward in becoming a couple tending to the farm.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in the Prarie Creek series. I loved the way the story was told...with it being told in the present with flashbacks to the past through journal entries. I loved the character development of Mabel and the journey she took through her grandmother's journal. I loved this sweet read about love, forgiveness, and second chances!

The Thimble Shoppe is book two in the Prairie Creek series. The storyline goes back and forth from a past time with one character through diary entries to present day with others. These types of timelines don’t always work well, but here they flow smoothly. Focus is on Mabel Ryerson and Griffin Dempsey, while including Logan and Kelly from book one. It’s a fairly quick read but with lots of emotion and family dynamics. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this book and series.

The Thimble Shoppe takes the reader back to Prairie Creek and introduces us to Logan's sister Mabel. A really good read that I really enjoyed. The Mabel and Griffin storyline of second chances was one I loved. Logan and Kelly returned along with some new faces. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

This book was so good! It's a beautifully written story that combines the past with the present. It is so much more than a second chance romance; it stays in your mind long after you turn the last page. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I received an ARC from Elizabeth Bromke. This is book two in the Prairie Creek series. The Ryerson family has many issues to overcome. Griffin Dempsey is also in the midst of a family business decision. Should they sell? Is logging and being a lumberjack what he desires? Mabel is getting messages from her deceased Grandma Betty. She has to reevaluate her past and present relationships. Meet friends, neighbors, and family in Prairie Creek. Stay at the Country Cottage and shop at The Thimble Shoppe. I highly recommend this series. Where is my Grandma’s heirloom thimble?

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

Great story!
There were actually two stories going on here, the current events and the one told through Grandma Betty's diary entries.
Through the entries Mabel gets some good advice and some secrets are revealed.

The story seemed realistic, and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is a wonderful book about forgiveness and a second chance romance between Mabel and Griffin. They were high school sweethearts who broke up and went their separate ways for twenty years. Mabel left Prairie Creek after her Grandma Betty and her sister-in-law, Delilah, died in the car she was driving that slid off an icy road. No one blamed her for their deaths or that she survived, but she couldn't forgive herself. When she received emails from her Grandma Betty that were actual entries from her diary even though she had died two years ago, Mabel had to return to Prairie Creek to confront her brother, Logan, and her Grandpa to find out who was sending the emails. The characters are wonderful, and I highly recommend this unusual and interesting story. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

The Thimble Shoppe by Elizabeth Bromke is the second book in her Prairie Creek Romance Series. This is another wonderful series by Bromke that just warms your heart. The Country Cottage is the first book and Bromke continues this well written series as she introduces some new characters but always includes those you love from the previous one!! The characters are real and relatable. A story of a small town and the family and friends that are a part of it. There is romance and second chance romance, friendships, secrets, family issues and all the guilt, love and forgiveness that goes with it. I love all Elizabeth Bromke’s books and series and I highly recommend them!!!!

Thank you Elizabeth Bromke and Publishing in the Pines for a copy of this amazing book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Mabel Ryerson’s Grandma Betty died 2 yrs ago but she finds a friend request from her. How could this be possible. Was the account hacked. Mabel wanted to go home to Prairie Creek to check on things but her fiancé didn’t like the idea. Griffin Dempsey’s family owns a logging company but his father has other plans for it now. He was retiring and selling the company. Mabel and Griffin were a couple in H.S. She’s engaged but finds her old feelings rekindling for Griffin. Could they work together in The Thimble Shoppe. Will their old feelings come to the forefront again. Lots of questions to be answered so you will have to read this great small town story to get your answers. I received an advanced free reader copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Loved it! This book was right up my alley, I am an avid sewer and quilt maker. It is second in the Prairie Creek series. It takes place in a small town that I would like to know more about, and In each book I get to know the characters better. Clean romance and a lovely distraction from tv news today. (Griffin was my fave character)! Suggest you read in order.

This second book in this series is a second chance romance mixed with a family story. It's not a full dual timeline, but Bromke takes us back in time occasionally by sharing diary entries of Grandma Betty. Through those entries we, along with Mabel, learn secrets from the past that shaped Mabel's life and that of the man she used to love.

Secrets, guilt and family issues are strong throughout and make for an entertaining story of love and forgiveness.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author. All thoughts are my own.

A charming return to Prairie Creek, the Thimble Shoppe tells the story of Mabel and Griffin as well as the continuation of Logan and Kelly from The Country Cottage. Bromke left me wanting more and looking forward to her upcoming A Homestead Holiday, the next installment in the series.
