Hope and determination can bring results…
Ellie Weatherby and the four other grandmothers living at Sanderling Cove decide with only two great-grandchildren, it’s time to swing into action. They invite their grandchildren to spend the summer at the cove, hoping to encourage romance between them. Ellie invites all three of her granddaughters to take over the management of the Sanderling Cove Inn so that she and her bridegroom can spend the time traveling in Europe for their honeymoon.
Charlotte Bradford, Olivia Winters, and Brooke Weatherby are all at a point in their lives where they have the time to do as she asks. For Charlotte, it’s an excuse to leave her marketing career and life in New York City. After realizing her partner was never going to step up and do her share of work, Livy has just sold her bakery store in Virginia. Brooke is more than eager to leave her job as an accountant in upstate New York and, more importantly, escape the lonely life of keeping an eye on her mother who suffers from fibromyalgia and depression. When Shane Ensley is sailing with Charlotte and another “cove kid”, Eric Simon, the boom knocks him into the water unconscious. When Charlotte rescues him, it changes everything for them. And starts the summer exactly as the grandmothers had hoped.
Grandmothers can be very determined when it comes to seeing their grandchildren happy. A family saga full of love. Be sure to read all the books in the series – Waves of Hope, Sandy Wishes, Salty Kisses.

What could be better than to start a new series by one of your favorite authors? I always know that when I start a Judith Keim book that I'll be treated to a wonderfully written story about family love and romance. As an extra bonus for me, this book also has older characters - grandmothers like me and a story line that shows their importance in their families.
Five grandmothers in Sanderling Cove invite their grandchildren home for the summer. Their grandchildren were all close friends when they were young but have lost touch with each other over the years. The first book in the series is about Ellie and her three granddaughters. She asks them to come home and run Sanderling Inn so that she can travel in Europe with her new husband. Even through all three women have jobs, they are all at a place in their jobs where they can take the summer to help their grandmother. Charlotte is glad to leave her imploding marketing career in New York City, Livy has just sold her bakery in Virginia and isn't sure what to do next and Brooke is eager to leave her accounting job and her overbearing mother in upstate New York Once the three of them start meeting the other grandchildren that are there for the summer and catching up on their lives, they realize that this is going to not only be a summer of new job challenges but they are also going to be faced with the possibilities of new loves.
So get out that beach chair and enjoy reading about the Ellie's three granddaughters as one of them finds her soulmate. The book is very satisfying but at the end, you'll be eagerly waiting for the next book in the series - Sandy Wishes - to find out which of the three women falls in love next.
Judith Keim is one of those authors that you can always depend on to give you a great story with fantastic characters. She loves to write stories about strong women of all ages coming together to help one another face life's challenges.
I read this book as an ARC reader. Thank you Judith Keim for another great book.
This is a story about 3 cousins who are in need of a change. Their grandmother invites them to her in The Sanderling Cove. The grandmothers in the cove have decided it was time their grandchildren fell in love. Grandma Ellie takes an extended vacation with her business partner know husband. Olivia, Brooke & Charlotte are left to run the inn & make some updates. They all realize they work well together and have different paths and they love the inn.
What a wonderful way to start a new series! I just finished the first book in the new series and I already want more.
Welcome to Sanderling Cove! Such a memorable summer place for cousins, Charlotte, Brooke and Olivia. When their grandmother summons them to return to the cove, they all don’t hesitate. Little do they know that all the grandmothers are involved in bringing back all their grown grandchildren to see if there are any left over, or new sparks!
I loved all the characters and I can’t wait for more!!! Now please excuse me while I go make a reservation for the Sanderling Inn!!!
Waves of Hope, by author Judith Keim, is the first book in the Sanderling Cove Inn Series. Whenever Judith Keim begins a new series, I am beyond excited because I know that I am in for a treat. Judith Keim's books are always filled with great story-lines, an amazing cast of well-written characters, and will have a strong focus on family, friendship and love.
Ellie Weatherby, along with her four other co-conspirators that reside in Sanderling Cove, have decided to play matchmaker for their unmarried grandchildren. After all, there is nothing wrong with an innocent push in the right direction to get them to possibly open their hearts to true love. First up is Ellie...she has invited her granddaughters to come to Sanderling Cove for the summer to help her with running the Sanderling Cove Inn. Of course, she was honest about her reasons for wanting them to come to Florida, but she did not mention to them the scheme to play matchmaker. Charlotte, Brooke, and Livy may be cousins, but they are also true friends to one another. Being able to spend time together while also helping their grandma, was a winning situation for all three women. If only they knew what Grandma Ellie truly has planned for them.
As the story unfolds, the grandchildren of the five conspiring grandmothers in Sanderling Cove begin to arrive...and the matchmaking quietly begins behind the scenes. Waves of Hope focuses on Ellie's granddaughters, all which are at a crossroads in their personal lives. Spending the summer helping out at the Inn is welcomed by all three women while they each decide what they want next in life. Being back not only gives these three cousins a chance to reconnect, but they also get to reconnect with the other four families they spent so much of their summers with while growing up. Will the grandmothers get their wish and make any love connections between their grandchildren? Or is it just wishful thinking on their part?
Waves of Hope is a wonderful beginning to a brand new series. I love that the main characters are all from various backgrounds, but share a common link through the summers they all spent at Sanderling Cove. The grandmothers of the five different families always treated all of the grandchildren as if they were their own. I loved this dynamic of the book and the closeness shared between the families! Each character is well-written and developed, with enough background information given to help with understanding them and where they come from. Grandma Ellie is a treasure, in more ways than one. Her love for her granddaughters is obvious, and by asking them to come to Florida to help her, she is also giving them time to help themselves. The focus on family and friendship is strong throughout the story, and this is definitely one aspect of the story that I truly enjoyed.
Overall, this is another heartwarming and heartfelt book by Judith Keim. I could not turn the pages fast enough, and now that I am done with book one, I am already craving the rest of the books in this series. I highly recommend reading Waves of Hope!
I would like to thank Judith Keim for allowing me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. My views are my own, and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
Waves of Hope by Judith Keim is the first book in the Sanderling Cove Inn series. I enjoy stories when grandmothers and cousins are reunited for a new adventure! Eleanor Weatherby decides to make a few plans and asks her three adult granddaughters to come to visit her in Florida. She may have more than one reason for asking the girls to come to Sanderling Cove Inn for the summer. Grandma Ellie seems to be a very spry, smart, and trendy person who feels the need for a change. She shares the business of the Sanderling Cove Inn and her home with John Rizzo. Although her three daughters do not enjoy visiting the inn at the beach, the granddaughters have left Grandma Ellie with many wonderful memories of days at the beach with her fun-loving granddaughters. Charlotte or "Charlie" lives in New York and is frustrated with her job in advertising. She feels it is a great time to accept the invitation to visit Grandma Ellie. Charlie gives notice at her job and decides to find a new job after her vacation. Brooke Weatherby is an accountant who lives in Ellenton, NY. Her personal life is on pause as she works long hours and then goes home to check on her mother. Her recent breakup could be attributed to the time she spends encouraging her mother who suffers from depression. Brooke is excited to have a chance to spend some time for herself in Florida with Grandma Ellie. Olivia or "Livy" Winters is co-owner of a bakery called The Sweet Shoppe in Lexington, VA. Livy feels aggravated that her partner in the bakery is late for work again. Livy is tired and worn out from carrying most of the load of the business. Julie, a co-owner, decides she wants to sell the business and get married. Livy decides now is the perfect time to agree to join Grandma Ellie for the summer in Florida. The three girls love seeing each other again and soon have suspicions that Grandma Ellie is keeping some secrets. They are soon having a wonderful evening on the beach with many friends from years ago. Is Gran playing at some old fashion matchmaking? Later they find out that Gran and John have gotten married and want to take an extended vacation. John is having heart problems and Gran wants the two of them to have some time to travel and relax after all the years of 24/7 work at the inn. Would the three girls be interested in taking care of the inn? Well, Yes! They begin to make plans for the renewal and modernization of the inn. Join the family and friends as they discover new adventures, loves, and problems as they continue life at The Sanderling Cove Inn! Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. The publication date is August 2, 2022.
Hmmmm….. what on earth could Grandma Ellie be up to? I mean, she entices her granddaughters to visit her in sunny Florida, a far cry from their dull and dreary lives they’re living now. But Gran is getting older. It’s time for her to rethink things. All three granddaughters are single and all three have skills that could be very helpful at the B&B Gran owns. The B&B, right on the beach where all three granddaughters spent playful summers . Then they were the Three Musketeers. Ahhh, but those fun loving, frolicking days are over. Charlotte is tired of not getting credit where credit is due in her marketing job. Brooke needs a break from her ‘needy’ mother and Olivia is tired of basically running her co-owned bakery by herself. So when Grandma Ellie summons them, they drop everything and … to Grandmas’ house they go.
It seems like Gran and a couple of her grandma friends are good at plotting and scheming… and matchmaking. After all, the girls are in their mid to late twenties, shouldn’t they be producing great grand babies by now? And who better than the ‘little boys’ her granddaughters played with when they were little girls. I mean, they already know each other, they even had childhood and teenage crushes, so why not bring them all together again and see if love is in the air?
OBSERVATIONS:
✒︎ LOL…. It seems like the girls were somewhat suspicious because Charlotte gave Brooke and Livy a thoughtful look and said. “Doesn’t it seem odd to you that so many of us are here at the same time? It makes me wonder if Gran and her friends planned it this way.”
✒︎ Oh girls, you ain’t seen nothin yet…. Remember Gran is getting older, maybe its time for her to have a break too, while you three revisit your childhood haven.
✒︎ I really liked this book on the surface. I had a couple issues with it that are more personal than anything else. It seems like too many authors are trying to be PC these days and that always makes me roll my eyes. If the plot is PC then let it be, but don’t just sneak things in to appease.
When Charlotte Olivia and Brooke get a call from the grandma to come to Sandra Lynn Cove for the summer it’s just a lucky break that they’re already for a little vacation. Olivia just sold her bakery to a competitor, Brooke just broke up with her overbearing boyfriend and Charlotte no longer likes who she is well in New York City. When each girl arrives there surprised to learn the other two are either coming or already there. There even more surprise when they learn other kids from their days at the cove are going to be there and they’re having a bonfire later that night. The girls know that grand is up to something but what is it? When Austin asked Brooke at the party why is her grandma selling the resort Brooke is shocked and doesn’t know what to say and at then when she tells her cousins later that night they decide to talk to their grand about it. Had the same party Charlotte reconnected with Shane he is super model good luxe and a such a nice guy and she thinks if she wouldn’t be taking a break and just letting things play out maybe she would make a play for him but then while helping Eric bring his sailboat from Miami Shane has an accident and falls unconscious in the water and that changes everything for Charlotte. This book was so good and I can’t wait to read the second book with Brooke in little sky. If it’s even close to as good as this one it’s going to be excellent. Although everything in the book seems to be very copacetic the writing is so good it’s not something you roll your eyes at or mind in the lease because this is a great book and one I highly recommend. Not all of the kids are taking a break or have money to spare but live and work nearby and essentially I think with this books about is people in their late 20s and early 30s who were still single and just want to get back to the place they love and the only place they truly felt like their authentic south and that is Sandra Lynn Cove. I received this book from net galley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Waves of Hope is the first book in Judith Keim’s Sanderling Cove Inn series. Sanderling Cove is a lovely anomaly on the Gulf coast of Florida north of Tampa. The Cove was settled by five families many years ago. With children and grandchildren grown, the grandmothers have put their heads together to revitalize their families with a play to orchestrate the perfect scenario to bring the grown grandchildren back together for a special summer to revisit the many summers the kids spent with their grandmothers as teens and younger. All are aching to hold their great grandbabies and are hoping to nudge fate to allow things to happen.
Eleanor “Ellie” Southerby was widowed in her thirties and left with her husband’s debts. In order to finish raising her own three daughters, Ellie converted the big house to a bed and breakfast and was eventually able to build a separate home and extend the B&B to 36 rooms. During these years she became special friends with John Rizzo who became the chef in residence. But now Ellie, and John, need a break from the Inn and the Inn needs to be revitalized with young ideas and spirit.
To do this, Ellie invites her three granddaughters Charlotte, Olivia, and Brooke, each the child of one of her daughters, to come for the summer. Each young woman is at a crossroads of her own and needs the break and, perhaps, a fresh start. But can they be convinced to not only refresh the Inn but also manage it in Ellie and John’s absence? And will the matchmaking endeavors of the Grandmothers’ succeed?
This is a lovely story that unpacks so many issues. The plentiful characters, for which there is a who’s who listing of them before the Prologue, are well drawn, some the reader will adore, some not so much. The setting is perfectly described, and the intricate dance of storylines is well plotted and sensibly told. I very much enjoyed this book and I do look forward to the stories to come.
Five grandmothers who live at Sanderling Cove and have grandchildren living in other parts of Florida and beyond plot to reunite the clan to return to the place where all had played together during the summers when they were growing up. Thus begins a new series for author Judith Keim. Grandma Ellie, who owns the Sanderling Cove Inn, invites her three grand-daughters to visit for the summer. The three cousins are delighted to escape their current circumstances of work and personal situations to respond to the thought of spending the summer with each other and helping their grandmother with the inn. Charlotte, Olivia and Brooke bring their unique skills: marketing, culinary and accounting, which they will put to work when Grandma asks them to take over the running of the Inn including revamping the Inn while she and her new husband go on an extended honeymoon to Europe. Plenty of fun activities follow when other grandchildren of the Sanderling Cove arrive and continue the good times from the past. One of the most interesting developments is the relationship between Charlotte and Shane that develops after a boating incident. So much of this book reflects the affection that all have between the families and friends in the Sanderling Cove neighborhood. It’s a wonderful place to visit when you know you will be welcome at the homes of any of the grandmothers and their bountiful tables. It is just an indication of the good reads ahead with future books in this series. A treasure to read this story as it reflects the caring nature of the grandmothers and their desire to have their grandchildren succeed with their talents and be a good steward to others. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Thanks to the author, NetGalley and Wild Quail Publishing for an ARC of this book; this is my honest review.
Waves of Hope is the first novel in The Sanderling Cove Inn Series. This is a new series by Judith Keim in which five grandmothers decide to “gently” intervene in the lives of their beloved grandchildren in hopes to give them their “happily ever after!” The five grandmothers are: Eleanor “Ellie” Weatherby known as Gran, Elizabeth “Liz” Ensley or “Granny Liz”, Karen Atkins is Mimi, Sarah Simon is G-Ma, and Pat Dunlap is Grandma.
In this first book Gran (Ellie Weatherby) has asked her three granddaughters (unbeknownst to them that they were all three invited), to come to Sanderling Cove Inn on the Gulf Coast of Florida and help her out with the inn over the summer. The girls, Charlotte “Charlie” Bradford (her daughter Vanessa’s daughter), Brooke Weatherby (her daughter Jo’s child) and Olivia “Livy” Winters (her daughter Leigh’s daughter) are all facing some sort of crossroads or discontent within their lives, and a trip to visit Gran seemed to be just what they needed to put some distance from their present lives and help them sort out their future. Reuniting the cousins is Gran’s first surprise in a summer they will never forget.
Since I am not one to ruin the story by retelling it in my review, I will just leave it there.
If you love strong women, second chances at life and love, and just a “little” grandmotherly manipulation to make dreams come true for their grandchildren, you will love this new series! Since I’m a new grandmother (or “Mia” as my grandbabies will call me) myself, and had my own wonderfully outspoken Grammy growing up, this story spoke to my heart! Like all of Judith Keim’s books, I could hardly put it down, and eagerly await the next book!
Welcome to Sanderling Cove Inn, the new series by Judith Keim. She gives us another delightful group of women to like and admire. The five families of Sanderling Cove are watched over by the matriarchs of the family, Ellie Weatherby, Liz Ensley- known as Grannie Liz, Karen Atkins aka Mimi, Sarah Simon, G-Ma and Pat Dunlop. And these 5 women wanted a summer with their grandkids and have asked them back to the Cove. Little do they know that these grandma’s have a plan in place for their grandkids.
In the first book we meet Grandma Ellie and her three granddaughters, Charlotte, Brooke and Olivia. She needs the girls to help her re-vamp The Sanderling Cove Inn, or get it ready to sell. She and her partner in the Inn and life John Rizzo. The girls agree to return and have a wonderful summer together and help out Gran. Despite oppositions of their mothers. And if, when reunited with other grandkids of the Cove they spent time with in their youth, and maybe fall in love and want to stay in the Cove, then the Grans will be happy...
I loved getting to know all the families of Sanderling Cove. I love the grandmothers and their wily ways of bringing their grandkids back to the cove. I had a special relationship with my Nana and reading this book brought back a lot of wonderful memories I shared with her. As always Judith Keim gives us wonderful characters who we will love or maybe not like so much until we get to know them and what has gone on in their past. I can’t wait to get to know all of these characters some more in the next book And Judith brings us back to Salty Key, with Gavin’s and also the ladies of The Beach House Hotel... What's not to like.
What a great beach read and the start of a new series by a favorite author. Three cousins are dissatisfied with their lives where they currently live and work and when their grandmother invites them to Florida they all take her up on it not knowing the others will be there as well. Besides their reunion , there's a reunion of all the kids, now grown, who had summered together in Sanderling Cove thanks to lots of meddling grandmas!
The story is told by cousins, Charlotte, Brooke, Olivia or their grandmother in different chapters. There are matchmaking and romances, friendships rekindled, lots of activities, the inn they are helping their grandmother run and update along with guests and the beach. We get to know them a little at a time and there is a depth to the characters as well as the story. It was a quick and fast-paced read.
This is Charlotte or Charlie's story as she's the first of the group to find love when she and Shane hit it off. I loved watching their relationship grow and how others in the group took a step back. There are references to characters and places mentioned in previous books that made me feel like I was home. There is nice closure and a happily ever after that could have been tarnished by an unexpected event but wasn't thankfully. The title is charming and I love the serenity of the cover. At the back of the book there was a preview of the next book in the series and I can't wait to read more.
I rated it 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book one in The Sanderling Cove Inn Series and what a great start to a new series. When Ellie and her four friend's who live in Sanderling Cove decide that they need more great grandchildren they decide to make there wishes come true and set out putting there plans in motion to see if they can work there magic. When Ellie invites her granddaughters Charlotte, Livy and Brooke to take a break and run Sanderling Cove Inn while she takes a break they all jump at the chance as it is the right time for all of them to get away from there lives but what they don't know is that there grandmother is using her matchmaking skills to help them find the perfect partner for them all. I absolutely loved everything about this book as it had great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and kept your attention throughout and the connection between Charlotte, Livy and Brooke is so strong and they support each other and the memories that they have from spending time with there grandmother in Sanderling Cove. Judith Keim is one of my all time favourite author's and I definitely recommend you read this book and other's by her as she is an amazing author and writer and her book's are definitely worth reading and you will not be disappointed and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I have to say this is my favorite book I have read this summer. There was something magical about Sanderling Cove and the Inn. I especially liked how Grandma Ellie was close to her granddaughters and schemed to get them at the Inn so she and John could take a much needed vacation. The best part is Ellie's friends also arranged for their grandchildren to be back at the Cove too. Those scheming matchmaking grandmothers.
I especially liked how Charlotte, Brooke, and Olivia were very close cousins, almost like sisters. All three of them were at a crossroads in their lives and spending the summer running the Sanderling Cove Inn was perfect for them. They were three very independent women but they blended together so nicely as they caught up with each other and made changes to the Inn.
The book pulled me right in and never let me go, from the characters to the story everything was perfect. I am so glad there are two more books in the series to focus on two more of the granddaughters, since this one highlighted Charlotte. I enjoyed the romance and the twists and turns in the story as the cousins tried to figure out what their future held. I want to stay at the Sanderling Cove Inn. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
3 Grandchildren are invited to their grandmothers home/Inn where they used to spend summers together away from the problems they all had with their mothers. They grew up on the island and had a group of five other families who grew up there too. Now they are all back together again all grown up with careers and the same live problems they had with their mothers. None of them are really happy where they are right now so leave their worlds behind to spend the summer at the inn. Granny and her husband Johnny want to travel so have asked the girls to take over the inn and business while they are gone. One is a baker, one is an accountant and one is a marketing guru. The story continues with how each woman will come up with to make the Inn better and which one of the long lost friends they may fall for over the summer to bring their lives into focus with fulfillment and joy. What else does the grandma have in store for them. Great book, but then Judith always writes the best books. They entertain, cause us to consider where we are in our lives and what we can do to make our lives better as well as how can we fulfill our destination in life.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve read several books by this author and I definitely wasn’t disappointed with Waves of Hope. This book had me flipping the pages to see what was going to happen next. I love that the five grandmothers came up with the plan to try and get their grandchildren paired up with another Cove kid and got them to come and visit for the summer. Ellie has three granddaughters: Charlotte (Charlie), Olivia (Livy), and Brooke. She gets them to come to the Cove and then gets them to agree to run The Sanderling Cove Inn while John and her take a European vacation. All three of Ellie’s granddaughters are single. Next door to Ellie’s is Granny Liz and her husband, Sam. They have two single grandsons: Austin and Shane. The other three grandmothers are Karen, Sarah, and Pat. Some of the grandchildren are in relationships, but most are single, so there’s plenty of matchmaking to do. Grab your copy of this beautifully written book and get ready to root for your favorite couples to get together. I bet you’ll fall in love with little Skye, Adam’s young daughter. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Judith Keim's books are always full of family ties, whether blood or the kind you choose. In this case, three cousins, Charlotte (Charlie), Olivia (Livy) and Brooke are asked by their Grandma Ellie to visit her at her inn on Sanderling Cove. They are all at a point in their lives where they can break away, so they all jump at the chance.
The ladies have many happy memories of times spent at Sanderling Cove; they have a lot of friends there who all grew up together. It turns out that a bunch of them are around at this time (coincidence?), and everyone has a great time getting reacquainted. Friendships are renewed, relationships are taken to the next step....and the Grandma's are hoping for the best!
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series! Thanks to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy, but my opinions are my own.
This is a favorite author of mine . I enjoy her books of family, relationships and picturesque seaside settings. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinon is my own.
This is a unique setting of Sanderling Cove at a lovely family owned Inn. Ellie Weatherby and four other grandmothers are all living at Sanderling Cove. They invite their grandchildren to spend the summer at the cove, hoping to encourage romance between them and for them to take over the management of the Inn. I love that the author features savvy smart seniors in this book as the main charcters. Once the grandchildren arrive they soon find together they are quite different personalities but still family who love one another. As younger generations and older collide and find their way the story unfolds to a beautiful story of the importance of family . I loved this book and read it cover to cover. Well done to the author.
Gulf of Florida, Ellie and other grandmothers have all their grandchildren come back to the cove in hopes they will find romance. Ellie has her 3 granddaughters come to run her Inn while she goes on her honeymoon. So they do. Charolette (Charlie) was in a PR firm in NYC. She sets up new marketing for the Inn. Brooke is an accountant and is learning the books from Jake. Olivia (Livy) had her own Bakery and is now cooking at the Inn. They do renovations to the Inn. Cove Mate Austin helps redo Wi-Fi. Eric has a sail boat. Shane sees Charlie and is very interested, they go on a Boat ride with Eric and he gets hit by the sail and falls over Charlie jumps in after him and saves his life. They she keeps checking on him, volunteers to drive him places.they have to spend the night and they talk and tell their feelings and began to date. He has her meet his family and he asks her to marry him.
Ellie Weatherby and 4 of her friends all live in Sanderling Cove, FL. .. these grandmothers have decided it's time to start meddling in all their grandchildrens love lives. Ellie owns the Sanderling Cove Inn and has invited her three granddaughters to come stay and help her run it for the summer while she takes a much needed trip with her long-time boyfriend. Charlotte, Olivia, and Brooke are all ready for a change in their lives, so it's the perfect time to pick up and head to their favorite place and help their grandmother.
This novel has several POV. We get Charlotte, Olivia, Brooke, and Ellie. However, I feel like the focus is on Charlotte.
Charlotte and Shane are sailing with another "Cove kid" when Shane is hit in the head and falls into the ocean unconscious. Luckily, Charlotte is a strong swimmer and saves his life. This sets up a catapult of events and situations that make it pretty clear that they are meant to be together.
The owner of the Sanderling Cove Inn, Eleanor "Ellie" Weatherby has been thinking about selling the inn. It has gotten too much for her to take care of. She asks her three granddaughter's to come and stay at the inn for the summer. Ellie and her new husband, John, are taking a long European vacation and are leaving the girls in charge of the inn. They will also be making some much needed improvements to the inn. That was only part of Ellie's plan. She wants to see each of her granddaughter's happily paired off and conspires with her neighbor and best friend, Elizabeth "Liz" Ensley. While Ellie is away, Liz keeps her informed of the matchmaking. This is a cute beach story that keep you entertained throughout. I would recommend it to anyone.
Running an Inn on The Florida Gulf Coast This is the heartwarming introductory episode of a new women's fiction series. Three cousins return to their roots to run their Grandmother's Inn while she is on her honeymoon. In this episode, we meet all of the players and one cousin does fall in love. The story ends somewhat abruptly soon after. I am guessing that in each of the next books, another cousin will fall in love. The setting is the wonderful Gulf Coast of Florida. The activities can make the reader smell the salt air, hear the gulls and feel the warm sand between your toes. There is a nice prologue to the next book which softens the abrupt ending quite nicely. This author is my favorite writer of women's fiction. I expect a lot from her books and this one did not disappoint. I received this ARC copy from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
It is easy to see all the grandmothers I am close to in Ellie’s shoes! Oh, how she wants to make life good for everyone! She is not going to just “give it all” but this strong determined woman sees the big picture! She can offer a place to belong and feel fulfilled in what they are accomplishing to her granddaughters, these wonderful cousins Charlie, Brook and Livy, and at the same time she is able to fill the needs of her own and her husband John’s lives by giving them a much needed respite and getaway. Add to that that as she organizes and plans (okay, plots!) with her friends and fellow grandmothers she brings richness and depth to the lives of them and their grandchildren as well. I always love Judith Keim’s stories! She brings me real people with real solutions! The only problem is that I just don’t want to have to wait for the sequel to this new series
Ellie Weatherby has asked her three granddaughters to come spend the summer with her. As it seems all three are needing a change in the jobs, they currently working at, so it was a golden opportunity to send time with their grandmother again. Ellie has asked her granddaughters to take over the management of the Sanderling Cove Inn while, so she and her new husband get a long-needed trip throughout Europe. After Ellie has been saving money for renovations, the girls were told they could update the inn as well as run it until their grandmother came home. You will also find in the story that the other grandmothers have also summoned their grandchildren there for as long as they could stay. Is there a strong case of matchmaking going on? A great clean story and can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out.
Waves of Hope is my 41st book of the year. It definitely was not one of my favorite books, as it was very slow and was really predictable. I would consider it an easy “beach read.” It was nice and relaxing to read but did not have the substance I usually look for in my favorite novels. Yes, there was a bit of conflict, but the conflict was not large enough to make me that interested in this novel. It also did not elicit much emotion in me, since it was so predictable. If asked if I would read another one of Judith Keim’s novels, I would say “maybe.” In some ways, it was a treat to read but boring at other times. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the Wild Quail Publishing LLC (publisher) for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. -Chelsea K. Reviewer
Great new series! Ellie invites her three granddaughters to the Sanderling Cove Inn for the summer. Sanderling Cove is a great place to spend the summer and make special family memories.
As the girls arrive, Charlotte, Livy (Olivia) and Brooke realize she has an ulterior motive. The girls agree to run the inn for the summer and put some plans in place for upgrades and modern twists to the inn
The girls all have a different set of job skills which make them perfect for Grandma Ellie’s plans. Meanwhile the other Grandmothers in the Cove have plans to see their grandchildren happily settled with someone to love
In this first book, Charlotte (Charlie) seems to get a chance at happiness.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion
I know when I start reading a book by Judith Keim that I’d better not have anything that needs to be done because I won’t want to stop reading it until I finish it. Yup, I just had to keep reading till the end. I love the relationship between the cousins, Charlie, Brooke, and Livy, and their relationship with their Gran, Ellie. How much fun would it be to grow up with a group of friends like those in Sanderling Cove, who still have your back even though everyone is grown. We can’t forget all those wonderful Granny’s. Of course, they only have the best interest of their grands at heart. I can’t wait to go back to the Sanderling Cove Inn and see what my new friends are up to next. Oh, I really need some of Gran’s t-shirts! I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
Thank you NetGalley, Judith Keim, and Wild Quail Publishing LLC for the ARC of Waves of Hope. This is my personal review. This is the first book of the series Sanderling Cove Inn Series. I loved loved loved this book. It was a pure joy to get to meet and connect with Charlotte (Charlie), Olivia (Livy), and Brooke. Their Grandmother Ellie asks the girls to come and manage the Inn while she is on a trip with her new husband John. The women know that there is more to them going to Florida than just managing the Inn. They each need a change in their lives and working at the Inn is just what can help them do just that. This was a wonderful beggining to a new series, and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
