If she won’t offer to bury a body for you, is she really your best friend?
Mara Applegate thought she had it all: A high-end, lucrative career she loved and a handsome man who loved her.
It was the start of a happily ever after until it all fell apart and slipped between her fingers. It’s one thing to find out her fiancé never loved her. It’s another to have him throw that misplaced love in her face. His choices were now her fault.
Needing a safe place to recollect herself, Mara calls her long-time best friend and takes a road trip to Oregon. Brenna was now the only person she had in the world. The one person that, no matter what, would never abandon her.
Two friends, once separated by distance and life, set out on a new adventure. They’re on a search to find themselves and maybe, just maybe, find happiness.
Can the men they encounter handle their brand of crazy, or are they doomed to be a passing fling?
Barb is a Carolina girl by right and a Texan by birth. By day, she’s a desk jockey for a rural transportation company and a book lover, reading through as many books as she can. At night, though, she turns into her alter ego: a writer—cape optional, depending on her mood.
Her stories are a mix of real-life events, personal experiences, and the craziness of her own imagination and those of her best friends. And when their imaginations blend together, it can be crazy. Barb writes in multiple genres, encounters new adventures, creates new worlds, and has a fantastic time breathing life into new stories, creating something she hopes inspires anyone who reads to fall in love with them as she has.
Barb lives by one little rule: tomorrow is never guaranteed, so make sure you live each day to its fullest.
What a down to earth, besties for life story. Who wouldn’t want the bond that Mara and Brenna share?. They’re reunited for a vacation getaway after Mara had quite the ordeal and nothing is ever the same again. These two ladies will have you in stitches with their antics and just the comfortability in which they speak to one another no matter who’s around them. When Abel and Noah are introduced into the scene, boy oh boy the heat rises. I adored each and every one of these characters including Hippie except for Dale, that man is lower then dirt. Their story will have you clutching your kindle reading every line and never wanting to take a break. These two authors have collaborated wonderfully together and have written a heartfelt romcom that was simply enjoyable to read. I highly recommend this book be bumped to the top of your TBR list.
Summer Escapades by Barb Shuler and KA Graham was another fun addition to the Summers In Seaside collection.
After sudden revelations and heartbreak leave Mara reeling in shock, she decides to escape her troubles and takes a road trip to visit her long time best friend Brenna in the beautiful town of Seaside, Oregon. And even though time and life has kept them apart for a long time, their friendship is still strong—and they waste not time to dive into new adventures all over again. On a mission to find themselves and the happiness they both deserve, they find so much more.
I absolutely loved the journey these two women went on, and how their friendship transcended time. The entire vibe of their bond, their journey and reconnection was on point and oftentimes hilarious, overall was utterly heartwarming to read. If you love a good summer time feel good read about friendship, love, sisterhood and living life to its fullest—this is the one for you!
Poor Mara, her life hit the skids out of the blue, and now she needs to regroup so off she goes to spend some time with her bestie & head to Seaside. Their journey is such a great journey, and awesomely original because there are no heroes sharing the spotlight with their friendship. I'm not saying they didn't come across men who intrigued them, but it's not the focal point of this very amazing story. Their special brand of crazy delighted me to no end so I was laughing a lot while experiencing their journey alongside them. I had a woman tell me one time that men pinch your a** while women save it, and it's stuck with me for a long time now which is why I loved this story so much. This team of authors are new to me, but I assure you, I'll be checking out their other work because their writing styles are delightful, not to mention they meshed together perfectly. So yeah, everyone needs this book in their lives as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I want to be in on this friendship 🤣 Mara and Brenna are a force to be reckoned with alone but when they come together things get crazy. Their friendship is one everyone wants, and it'll have you crying from laughing, cuteness, shock and happiness. You will fall head over heals for them, Abel and Noah. The antics never stop coming with this bunch, they're perfect for each other, who knew so much trouble could be found in a quite picturesque seaside town. I adored this story and couldn't recommend it enough and I hope there will be more from these characters. Disclaimer do not drink and read, you will either choke on your drink or do a spit take from laughing, you have been warned 🤣 A fantastic story about two fabulous ladies, written by two fabulous ladies❤️
Mara is getting out of town as her life has just fallen apart. The man she loved, she caught cheating. No second chances here. She heads to her best friend Brenna and a trip to Seaside for girl time. Whilst these two find a couple of pretty gorgeous men whilst there, the focus of this was really on the friendship between the two girls.
These two will do anything for each other and the obvious place for Mara to go when things go wrong. Brenna was willing to go to battle and does go to battle when the ex doesn't take a hint and leave her alone.
I loved the relationship between these two girls and this is what made this one of my favourite's in the collection so far. The strength of friendship can help overcome the obstacles of life.
Mera world just broke her. Her fiancé cheated on her. So now mera and Brenna start a new adventure on seaside. Their loyalty bonds them like sisters. The summer just starts with laughter and new choices they have to take. No man to save them just both girls having fun .
These main characters were a hoot to read! The sassy language and crazy as all get-out scenes made for an amazingly entertaining book. I would love to read more of their adventures in the future.
This is a refreshing book. Although both main characters have been burnt by men, they somehow stumble across Noah and Abel in chance encounters, and we watch them stumble through many laugh out loud moments. Breena and Mara are best friends. Everyone dreams of having a friendship like these two, they’re inseparable. For me the best of this book was the friendship the girls have and how they react with one another. It isn’t all fairy dust, because the book does graze across some serious issues Mara goes through with her breakup, which just gives it that little bit of oomph. This is a slow burn book, but with the shenanigans that the girls get up to keep you flicking page after page.
This story surprised me a lot in a positive way. When you take two best friends and plan them a trip you know you've got the winning ticket in your hands already. I loved Mena and Brenna's friendship and how they look for each other's back when needed. If you're ready to daydream with them, grab your copy now!
Sweets of Summer by Barb Shuler & KA Graham Best Friends This book is part of the Summers in Seaside Collection, with crossover people and places. This is a beautiful read, and I enjoyed how the MC"s were built up for us to fall in love with. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love seeing the relationship dynamic between these two best friends. Even after being away from each other for so long. It wasn't just a story about two best friends it also has 2 great love stories in it. One for each girl!
Barb and KA are both new to me, and I found this best friends' story very interesting. "The sun will come out tomorrow" says it all. I loved Mara and Brenna's story and how they were always ready for an adventure. Also loved their recognition at the end of fellow Seaside series collaborators.
I wish I had friends like these! They crack me up and have such an amazing friendship. I’d love to have that. This was a great story of friendship almost more like sisters. Even when the men in their life were complete assholes they always had each other. I loved it!
This book is about Mara and Brenna two best friends that go on a vacation. Boy do they have fun, they have so many adventures including the one called love.
