It is obvious how much this author loves Montana. (And bats, apparently. I will never look at bats the same way again. "Tiny winged miracles!") The descriptions of Montana's mountains, fields, lakes, and weather all remind me that it's been a while since I've hiked there, and should plan a trip soon (note to self: pack the bear spray). Wyatt is quite a character, and I mean that in a good way. He was a pleasure to get to know. He's a good man, living by his own code. He really just wants to enjoy Montana living - study bat ecology, share his knowledge with others, and hike and fish once in a while. Then one incident on a hiking trail in Yellowstone changes his life, along with his family's. All the characters had depth, and I really enjoyed their interactions and dialogs. Wyatt's thoughts on bats, God, religion, evolution, racism, parenting and the family unit, fame, and human nature were fascinating and believable. I would definitely recommend this book!

Great book. I definitely know more about bats, bears and a squirrel named Rocky. I loved reading about the places in Montana which I’ve been to or heard of. Wyatt Hale was a man who had good and bad things happen to him and could care less what people thought about him. I liked his sarcasm and who cares attitude which made him a great character. Recommend this book!

Well told story

Chasing Some Mirage is a well told story incorporating real life issues of today set in Montana. The characters are relatable, and the dialog believable. However, I believe the term “hot dish” is borrowed from the great state of Minnesota. This is the third book from this author I’ve had the good fortune to read. Can’t wait for the next!
