I enjoy Sharon Sala's oldies, her books The Miracle Man, When you call my name, Annie and the Outlaw are some of my favorites and though I enjoyed Rider on Fire it is not my favorite.
Sonora Jordan is a DEA agent who has had a tough life after being abandoned by her mother when she was born and being taunted for being a Latino and not knowing her heritage. So, she is tough, when one of her case goes wrongs and she needs to get away she starts having her old childhood dreams.
This book is about second-chances and involves Native American elements. You see Sonora's father is dying and he sees her in a dream and Adam their healer uses ancient magic to call her to them and Sonora's life changes, she finally has a family and begins to fall for Adam.
A simple story with a villain and characters adjusting too quickly to new found relations for me.
This book grabbed me right away. I like the Native American aspect mixed with DEA/bad-guy stuff, mixed with love story. And, I always enjoy Sharon Sala's style of writing. Started this book 9/5/11.
This book is now available as a duet read with another of Ms. Sala's books. (I've had it for a while).
This is a Romantic Thriller with a touch of PNR; DEA agent Sonora Jordan, has a contract on her life; her boss, suggests that she take off for awhile so that no on can trace her. At the very same time she starts having waking dreams that frighten her and make her curious about what is happening. Following her instincts she leaves Phoenix, riding her Harley bike, for parts unknow, even to her, and ends up changing her entire life. But there is still a contract on her head.
Well written, tight plot with charming romance. I loved it!
I could not put this one down it had me glued from the first page. Lots of suspense with a Romance in there to. I loved this from start to finish. The bad thing is I don’t think there is another book to match up to this one.
Really great book. Wonderful characters, fast moving plot. Beautiful romance and just a well balanced book that kept this read interested and reading till the end. I still wanted more.
Great fast moving suspense romance book. It included Oklahoma hills location, cartel hunting a capable strong female, and glimpses into Native American culture. Extremely well done, loved it.
Bos Sonora, khawatir keselamatan Sonora, nyuruh dia pergi ngilang bentar karna sodara Juanito, Miguel, berniat balas dendam.
Nggak terlalu seru sih soal pengejaran Miguel. Tapi saya suka aja dengan ide Sonora yang tadinya benar-benar sendirian, tau-tau punya Franklin dan Adam yang meyakinkan dia bahwa she's not alone. A very comforting one, I think.
Ini bukunya tipis banget, sebentar aja udah selesai. :)

SYNOPSIS: DEA agent Sonora has always been alone. She is devoted to her career and it takes precedence over romantic relationships. Sonora becomes number one on the hit list with a bad guy in Mexico and has to make herself scarce. Since she was raised alone in an orphanage, and has no known family, she takes off to ‘lose’ herself on the road.
Meanwhile - Franklin, a Native American man dying of leukemia has a vision. His youthful sweetheart walked out of his life with more than just his broken heart. In his vision, he realizes, she was pregnant. The man goes to his Native friend Adam as asks that he do his mojo and find his child. Adam agrees, and Sonora finds herself strangely drawn down the road by night, and dreaming of the unknown Adam by day.
At a gas station, to her shock, she comes face to face with Adam. He brings her to Franklin, and the sweetest reunion begins to take place. There is a HEA (happily ever after), and a good resolution to the killers from Mexico storyline.
This book has the best storyline of a man meeting an heretofore unknown child. It doesn’t happen in an instant, but quietly, over a period of time, trust and understanding develop into compassion and love.
My only beef with this book is there was never any question as to why Sonora was left at the orphanage. I think the reader is supposed to think it was due to racism on the part of her bio mom, but that’s just a guess. It’s a good book, and classic Sala.
Rider on Fire by Sharon Sala is a book I went into without expectations. I had heard good things about the author before, but didn’t know where to start so when I saw this, I decided to go for it. Rider on Fire follows an independent female DEA agent with a price tag on her head, her introduction to the father she never knew existed, the man who becomes the love of her life, Oh!, and that homicidal drug lord who is out for her. There was the romance, a little bit of action (who doesn’t love a gunfight in their literature every now and then), and discovery of family. Rider on Fire grabbed my interest and my emotions very, very quickly and I really ended up enjoying the book. I really liked the fact that the majority of the story takes place on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. The bottom line: loved Rider on Fire and looking forward to more Sala.
A Drug Kingpin has put a contract out on Undercover DEA Agent Sonora Jordan. She had to get out of down quickly. So she jumped on her harley and just rode for parts unknown. Haunting dreams led her to Oklahoma where she comes face to face with the man in her dreams. Adam Two Eagle was just as shocked as she was when they met while pumping gas. He is a tribal healer who had appealed to the "old ones" to send his dying friend's daughter to him. Now he has to introduce Sonora to her father, and try to keep her safe from the drug cartel.
I enjoyed this book. It's a good story with lots of Indian mysticism. Adam and Sonora are both likeable characters along with her father, Artist Franklin Blue Cat. You also get the point-of-view of the villain as he hunts down Sonora. My rating: 4 Stars.
No review, as such. This is one of my 'keepers'. I've probably read this one at least 10 times. I absolutely love this book. Full of American Indian mysticism. The storyline is terrific. Highly recommended.
I actually felt like I was there. Sharon is one heck of a storyteller.i would recommend this book to everyone. After reading the first chapter, all I could say was WOW!!!!
Another lovely book by one of my all time favorite authors. She writes a love story like no other, and as in all her other books, this one has a strong heroine and a yummy protective hero. Loved it.
