Olivia Wakefield took the job at the prestigious and world renowned Prey Security under false pretenses. She always knew there was a chance she could be found out. What she didn't expect was for her sexy boss to put her in prison, or to find herself directly in the crosshairs of a dangerous terrorist. Now she'll have to rely on said boss to keep her alive, problem is she doesn't trust him.
Eagle Oswald takes his responsibilities seriously. There isn't anything he wouldn't do to protect his family and his company, including locking up the woman he hasn't been able to get out of his head since she came to work for him six months ago, even though his gut tells him there's more going on than meets the eye. When Olivia is threatened he will stop at nothing to protect her. Keeping her safe should be easy, earning her trust and winning her heart won't be.
USA Today bestselling author Jane Blythe writes action-packed romantic suspense and military romance featuring protective heroes and heroines who are survivors. One of Jane's most popular series includes Prey Security, part of Susan Stoker's OPERATION ALPHA world! Writing in that world alongside authors such as Janie Crouch and Riley Edwards has been a blast, and she looks forward to bringing more books to this genre, both within and outside of Stoker's world. When Jane isn't binge-reading she's counting down to Christmas and adding to her 200+ teddy bear collection!
I am always excited to be back in one of Jane Blythe’s world.
Oswald didn’t want to do it, but he walked her to the cell and left her there. She had worked for them to get information on the family and passed it on to someone. Prey security is at risk. He’s torn because his gut tells him she’s not a bad person and there is more going on than meets the eye.
Eagle Oswald fights his attraction to Olivia. He has to know who she gave the information to so he can protect his family and his business. They are pretty much one and the same. Was it a favor for a friend? Was someone using her? Why? Why? Why? His gut told him something wasn’t right about the situation.
Kaden Ibrahim is a terrorist leader in Syria. His goals were many: money, power and control. He uses fear to get it. Right now, he wants information.
Jane Blythe’s characters are damaged in some way, whether through past or present trauma and losses.
Olivia’s mantra: Suck it up, Buttercup.
I enjoyed the story, but it didn’t quite work for me, The mystery kept me reading, I had to know the what and why. I would classify this as a romantic cozy mystery. Is there such a thing? If someone is looking for a light mystery to keep them busy, this would work. Definitely won’t stop me from grabbing the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Protecting Eagle by Jane Blythe.
What exactly is wrong with people? How is this romantic? H is a piece of shit who kept heroine locked in a basement without food or water for three days because she is his employer and is passing some information Turns out it was to HIS brother but the damage is done… don’t worry, her anger didn’t last long… He said “won’t apologize for what I did”, “I’d kill you” Sorry but this is not a romance book, No grovel, she is horny, just like that. can you imagine having sex with a man who was going to kill you and has humiliated you that bad for three days? She even came back to the place where that happened like nothing, of course, she says I’m sorry to him… I don’t have words, In Spain, H would be dead n revenge… I’ve tried but this author only writes cruel man and doormats, not for me!

There is lots about this one that should have hit my sweet spot, should have ripped right through it. Yet from the start something turned me off. I think it was Eagle, despite being very attracted to Olivia, he knew he had to go hard core after her when he discovered she was the security breech at his company. And I get it, that makes sense to me, she was a threat, Eagle was as nice to her as he could be, but after he learned who she worked for and let her go, now I'm supposed to root for them as a couple? Knowing that what Eagle did trigged trauma from Olivia's past? Be all like, but the love of a good man will cure everything. Nope...can't do it. This one isn't for me, which is sad, because one of the things I did like was all the siblings names and that would have been a bonus fun tidbit if I continued to read the series.

Protecting Eagle is book one in the Prey Security series by Jane Blythe. To help a friend Olivia Wakefield took a job at Prey Security. Six months into the job Eagle Oswald, the CEO of Prey Security, found out about her emails, and she ends up in the basement cells. Olivia Wakefield would not tell Eagle who she was protecting even though she was hungry and thirsty. However, Falcon Oswald came and saved Olivia. The readers of Protecting Eagle will continue to follow Eagle Oswald and Olivia Wakefield to discover what happens.
Protecting Eagle is the first book I have read by Jane Blythe, and I am pleased I found her books. I engage with the story and the characters from the first page. I love Jane Blythe's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine throughout this book. Protecting Eagle is well-written and researched by Jane Blythe. I like Jane Blythe's description of Protecting Eagle's settings, which complements the book's plot.
The readers of Protecting Eagle will learn about some consequences of living in the foster system and their effect on the children involved. Also, the readers of Protecting Eagle will understand the importance of trusting someone with your life.
Wow! What an explosive start to the series! This book is Jane Blythe at her absolute best! Drama, intrigue, terror, action, romance, this book has it all! How many exclamation marks can I use to show how fantastic this story is?!!! A roller coaster ride from beginning to end and with a hint of what’s to come, I no doubt will be devouring the next one just as I did this! More exclamation marks to say read this book, it’s awesome!!!
Sooooo the 2 main characters were the least interesting of the whole bunch 😅. I will read the next one, because the mystery part is well written, but I felt nothing about the romance between Olivia and Eagle .
Loved the whole story of Olivia and Eagle Oswald! I thought it would be another ho hum story I would flip through, but was hooked in the first few pages. Not to give the whole story away, the mystery Eagle’s brother Falcon is trying to figure out after losing his whole platoon because of a traitor but trying to protect his siblings…Olivia’s involvement; the interaction between Eagle and Olivia when he thinks she has betrayed him and his Company PREY; so many mysteries means this is a book you can’t put down and to top it off with Susan Stockers’s Seal Team Wolf, Mozart, Abe feels like old friends there to help. READ IT, IT IS A GREAT START TO A WONDERFUL SERIES!
IOlivia may not be a warrior, but she is a protector!
We get to see the Oswald's at their best and their worst, especially Eagle and Falcon. They are growly Alpha's who think they are doing what is best for everyone else....but sometimes communication and discussion is more important as there is collateral damage and unfortunately Liv becomes collateral damage more than once. Olivia may be battered and bruised but she is not broken, she is far stronger than she thinks and does not give anyone up, no matter the torture or threats. In this book she is my hero, plus we get to see Wolf and his team too. A great first book for the series, which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
I had really high expectations for this novel. The beginning had me thinking the FMC was going to be bad a*s, even shy. But honestly, the unrealistic actions in this story had me snorting and rolling my eyes. First off, they’re a security agency, not the police or military. Which means what they did to the FMC was not only wrong, but highly illegal. Second, she’s a person who has NEVER shot a gun, let alone held one, and she managed a kill shot like that? Third, her romanticizing what the MMC did to her, and then the way he acted, was completely unbelievable. Her back and forth attitude and thoughts were so irritating. Put the book down and didn’t bother hoping the next in the series is better.
Holly Crap!! Is it my imagination or is the start of this new series the most intense nail biting edge of your seat blew it out of the park amazing. I can’t say enough.
Suck it up, buttercup.
Olivia was sent to spy on the Oswald family. Eagle just can’t believe this soft spoken shy woman is up to no good. “How many times have I told you that your big heart is going to get you into trouble,”
There attraction is smoking hot but trusting him is not easy. There is a extremely evil man out to use her as bait to get what he wants. Eagle will protect her with everything he has.
“What are you doing?” “Carrying you.” “Thanks Captain Obvious. Why are you carrying me?
Absolutely love this new series and I can’t wait until Ravens book comes out.
Eagle and Olivia’s book was interesting. It took me a long time to get into it and it wasn’t really my cup of tea, to be honest. While the mystery and the suspense kept me turning pages, I wasn’t really feeling the connection to the characters—or the connection between them, it was just not happening for me. Lots of positives for people who like suspense with a dash of romance, and protective/alpha-male lead characters.
I thought that I would give this book a try despite the reviews. I’m at the beginning and I can’t read any further. The kidnapping of your employee regardless of your profession is still kidnapping. If owners could arrest their employees there would be No employees.
Olivia and Eagle were a great duo in this book and that was a added extra to this story! There was so much suspense that there’s no way this book won’t keep you engaged from page one
An amazing book from the hugely talented Author, Jane Blythe!
Whoa!!! Action, Alphas and another massively amazing book from the hella talented Romantic Suspense Author Jane Blythe! I am amped! What a rollercoaster ride that was. Seriously, I was locked-in and hanging on until the end, not letting go of my tablet until the conclusion was reached. This is a massive start to the new Operation Alpha / Prey Security series.
If you’ve read any of Ms Blythe’s books before, you know the world she writes in is often brutal and reflects reality while bringing in the vibe of popular TV series, Criminal Minds. Imagine a cross-over series with Seal Team, and I reckon you’ll have pretty much what has been poured into PROTECTING EAGLE. The crew from Susan Stoker’s Operation Alpha are represented by the Seal Team of Wolf, Cookie, Abe, Mozart, Dude, Benny and Tex. This going to be a must-read series, just as I had to read the previous Operation Alpha series written by Jane Blythe, Saving Seals.
Eagle Oswald is a powerful man who wears that mantle like a comfortable yet understated bespoke suit. It fits him like a glove and he treats those he unerringly loves and is responsible for with care and respect. I loved everything about his character especially that he was just as comfortable in shedding his expensive trappings and going back to basics in the bush for a break. He is CEO of Prey Security and it is world renowned and acknowledged as THE best by his opponents, and each sibling are all current or ex-military save for their youngest sister. They all contribute to the business in some way.
Olivia Wakefield was his complete opposite. Shy and attractive in her demure office attire, she’d eyed the frightening man who intrigued her, never believing she’d come to his attention, but, it hadn’t been in a good way. We were thrown into the deep end of the book along with Olivia right from the start, and from there, it was one exciting moment whether she was ready for it or not.
Hot, laden with passion and full of action, PROTECTING EAGLE is everything that Romantic Suspense aficionados look for in their books, and is one that I unreservedly recommend. Wrap your peepers around these virtual pages and one-click. Go and do it now!
And after all that??? I can’t wait for Ms Blythe’s next release. She has left me with all sorts of imaginative hopes for Raven’s story, perhaps even with one of my favourite tropes 😁
5-Stars for this exciting must-read ex-military Operation Alpha romantic suspense ♠️💞✶
Protecting Eagle is the first book in Jane Blythe’s New Prey Security Series , A series I can already tell is going to be truly amazing. If I’m being completely honest I’m not someone who typically reads a lot of romantic suspense , so when I first sat down and started reading I was not sure what to expect , what a never could have imagined was how quickly I was going to find myself falling in love with not only the most wonderful characters but a storyline that literally grabs onto all your emotions and pull you in so quickly. From the moment I met both Olivia and Eagle I was captivated ,two people who are not only so multi layered but so very unique and intriguing. Olivia’s life was far from a easy one , growing up in foster care she knows better then anyone what it feels like to be lonely , yet she is fiercely protective of the people she cares most about in her life and will do just about anything to protect them .Eagle on the other hand was extremely fortunate to have grown up in a happy and loving family so when he is dealt with a sudden and tragic loss in his family to say his life is turned on it’s axis is a understatement. From the moment these two first meet you can feel the undeniable attraction they share , unfortunately their first meeting is not under the best circumstances but that certainly does not stop them from wanting to get to know each other . Certain events of which I’m not going to mention lead up to Olivia’s life being put in danger and when this happens all bets are off , Eagle becomes fiercely protective and will do anything to get her back . How does it all turn out ? Can Eagle And Olivia open up their hearts and learn to trust one another. Well if you want to know your going to have to read this fantastic book for yourself. Prepare yourself because Jane is going to take you on the ride of your life . So much suspense, heartbreak, love , loss , second chances, and many twist and turns you will not be expecting
This book is better than a lot of the books in the Operation Alpha world. Better than Susan Stroker's. Not as good as Riley Edwards's. I mostly enjoyed the book but found some of the details to be tedious. From the very first page, I skimmed. There were so many details that had nothing to do with the story. That didn't help us understand the characters better. Olivia was a steal magnolia wannabe, but was a door mat instead. She did better than a lot of people would in bad situations without panicking, always keeping her cool. But she really didn't have much personality.
I felt like the details of the plot were more realistic than a lot of romantic thrillers. That doesn't mean they were accurate. But not many people writing this type of story would have great knowledge on something the government doesn't exactly advertise, and very few of us readers would know what was perfect and what was not.
There were so very many run on sentences in this book. I can't remember a book that's had more. A comma is not the same as a period. Therewereother errors too. The most egregious error I noticed was the bad guys went looking for Olivia about 20 minutes before they noticed she was missing. The good guys had already found the bad guys and her before they were even supposed to start looking for her. That chapter of the book made no sense timeline wise.
I did like that we saw the pov of the bad guy. I really wish this was first person POV. IMO, all romances should be first person, but this was better done than it could have been.
I don't recommend purchasing this book but I do recommend trying it on KU. I am going to read the next one.
i honestly don't know how i put up with this. the romance is so dull and it happened all of a sudden. their lines were cringey at times. their profession of love was meh. the story happened in the span of 3 weeks. and the crazy part is they got engaged in that short amount of time. i can't wrap up my head around that.
the suspense is good but for some characters who've been in the SEAL before never acted using their brains but rather their emotions. i don't know much about special ops but i do know they always need to have plan before doing anything.
eagle's character is so bland. he's not remarkable at all only that he's the ceo of prey security, has prosthetic leg, and he's been lusting for olivia since she started working in his company. olivia she's introvert, a bit loner since she grew up in foster care, innocent, and naive, but it was her stupidity that put her at greater risk. she's weak and for someone whose so genius at computer she's sure as crap do dumb things that endangers her. it's also annoying how she's easily steamrolled by eagle or by the enemies. never liked both of them.
as for falcon he is deadset on dying and it's not so cool wanting to be the hero. i know that's not his motive, but that's how i see it. this is action packed story with suspense and i'm expecting for more smart plans to be executed not for the mcs to do everything on a whim.
i really had a hard time finishing this book. added the fact it was written in 3rd POV, not against it entirely but i still prefer the 1st POV. probably won't be reading the succeeding books.
What an absolutely phenomenal rollercoaster ride!!! I already liked Eagles character from previous books but goodness me he knocked me off my feet. What a stunningly beautiful character he is. The strength he portrays in caring and protecting everyone who matters is heartwarming. The way he treasures Olivia is potent enough to make your heart skip a beat. His alpha male dominant behaviour so hot my uterus contracted. Olivia is a stunning character. She's like a beacon of light in the darkest of nights. Her light brings inspiration, calm and love to everyone around her. Such an immense inner strength to have faced and dealt with all the pain of her childhood and get she still has a beautiful soul. Watching Eagle and Olivia fall in love was truly inspirational. Their chemistry off the charts addictive. Watching the pain they both have to go through as they endure pain and suffering at the hands of evil created an ache in my heart that could only be assuaged by Jane's unlimited talent in weaving such an outstanding story where goodness prevails and a happy ending is beautifully given. An outstanding story and the beginning of a new world which without a doubt has already embedded itself in my heart. Jane Got the writes with an obvious love of her art. Her talent is off the charts and the magic she creates in these magical worlds is see inspiring. This book is without a doubt one of the best I've read. Love, love, loved it. 20 million star review.
This book started off really strong. I was heavily invested. And I wanted to know if Olivia had actually been an informant and betrayed Eagle. So I was very interested in finding that out. And when that came out I was happy with it. And I completely understand, being held in a cellar by your boss for roughly two days is traumatising. So I get Olivia’s reaction in the beginning. Only..it started to fall apart when Eagle was all: “you’re in danger and I must protect you” It felt like she just fell at his feet from then on. Too me it made complete sense she wanted to high tail it out of the city after what she’d gone through. I was 100% on board with her leaving and maybe having Eagle track or down and grovel. But no. Although she remained skeptical of him, her whole “I’m so scared of him I want to leave the city” thing just fell away and she was basically moving into a relationship with him. Another thing about Olivia’s character- I GET IT. She was traumatised but oh my gosh..I felt like I was just listening to her whining and complaining and just in general being annoying. 🙄 Maybe it was just me..not sure. But i by chapter 10 I was over the whole thing and didn’t even want to stick around to find out what happens, let alone read further into the series.
No hate to the author, I respect their work- it just wasn’t for me personally. But if you enjoyed this book then good for you! ⭐️🫶🏼
I have been looking forward to reading about Eagle and the Prey Security team and my enthusiasm was warranted one hundred percent. This book packs a punch right from the beginning when you step into their world.
The two lead characters are extremely likeable and real, that’s the best way I can describe them. They have vastly different backgrounds yet go together like peas and carrots! The chemistry between the two is almost flammable but it’s secondary to the storyline, which I always believe is important.
The setup at Prey Security is top of the line and they literally have everything, including the kitchen sink! Yet Eagle and his family are not self absorbed or arrogant in any way, they believe in supporting their family and their team.
As the action progresses into such where you wonder how on earth things will work out, you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation of the future developments in the story. Talk about exciting and entertaining! Warning though, this series I can tell is already going to be addictive, I am already looking forward to reading Raven’s story!
What a great, great start to this new series by Jane Blythe. Eagle and Olivia totally captivated me from the very beginning and I was not willing to put this book down. Ms Blythe is constantly outdoing herself with her books and I find every time I read a new one I am blown away by the story line and the wonderful characters that we are introduced to. I loved reading about the Oswald family and it always fascinates me how this author chooses their names. An action packed, suspense filled book that gets right to the core of the story from the very beginning so as a reader I was totally immersed in the story. Fighting for the safety of their country and family Eagle and his siblings along with Olivia, who is an employee of Prey Security, stop at nothing to see that justice is served. An emotional roller coaster and my heart broke for them all upon reading their stories. Lots of moments that had me gasping, added to the suspense and drama. I loved them all but I totally fell in love with Falcon. He is a mystery that needs to be solved and I so eager to read his book. The next book promises to be amazing and I am looking forward to reading more in this amazing new series by Ms Blythe who is one of my favourite authors and is truly talented.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Eagle Oswald was furious when he learned Olivia Wakefield, the blue-eyed computer tech that starred in his every fantasy for the last six months, was stealing his security company’s secrets. Not that it stopped him from locking her down in his basement prison or the feelings he had for her that told him he was missing something about the situation.
Olivia’s terrified when she’s caught but is determined not to admit certain details. Even faced with this serious problem, Eagle can’t bring himself to treat his prisoner with anything but kindness. When her ally arrives, the problem is instantly less treacherous and Eagle feels vindicated in treating Olivia gently but she only wants to get away from him.
Meanwhile, Eagle’s brother Falcon is being hunted by a Syrian in search of more money and power and he’s certain the Oswald family can help him convince Falcon to turn it over to him, starting with Olivia.
To this reader’s taste, Olivia was irritating despite drowning in stupid, she kept sinking. Luckily, this reader was stubborn enough to continue until the outing got better. Rating: 3.75stars
finished the "Artemis Team" series before reading this series. this book wasn't to the point of being terrible but the execution just felt off.
first of all, the connection between them wasn't quite there, because right at the start, the heroine is being dragged to the cell as the hero found out she was doing spy work. it's just blah blah blah~ heroine worked for hero for six months and he wasn't able to get her off his mind etc etc. then heroine got kept in the cell for a couple of days because of what she did yada yada, after that she couldn't face the hero's family, she packed up her stuffs and was planning to move away. but when she nearly got kidnapped, the hero swopped to save her, then apologise plus sweet-talk her, after that she seems to forget everything even the fact she was planning to move. feels pretty lust oriented in general.
then the "suck it up, buttercup" inner monologue phrase in the beginning few chapters from the heroine was bloody irritating. i was totally gonna spewed out "shut the fuck up, buttercup" already.
Oh boy I have been looking forward to 'Eagle' and the 'Prey Security Series' and what a captivating story and explosive series start it was!! Jane Blythe is a romantic suspense / thriller queen, and her ability to write a gripping story is second to none. From the moment I started Protecting Eagle I was hooked. The story is action packed, drama filled, romantic, angsty, and as always suspenseful. Eagle!! oh boy this man was all I hoped he would be. He was full alpha, sexy, loyal, protective, and beautifully sweet. And... Olivia stole my heart, I adored her. She was sweet, loyal and when she could she was a fighter. If anyone deserves a strong man that loves her she sure does. As always Blythe took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. My heart hurt, I held my breath, I gasped in shock and surprise, I smiled, I swooned, I got a little frustrated, and I rooted hard for Eagle and Olivia.
I Absolutely loved and with so many wonderful characters I can't wait fore more of this series!
Eagle and Prey Security popped routinely in the Savin SEALs series, so I was delighted to learn that the Prey team will get their own books. Eagle Oswald is a man in charge. He's controls and protects his business, his environment and his family. Don't mess with any of them or he'll take you out. Olivia Wakefield may have hired on at Prey under false pretenses but her intentions weren't nefarious. Once he discovers her reasons, Eagle pursues Olivia with single mindedness. He wants her in his life now and forever. Olivia has never had anyone care about her, period. Eagle attentiveness is a bit overwhelming but not unwanted. Her life would be ideal were it not for the recurring kidnap attempts made by a Mideastern terrorist bent putting his hands on a formula that could be a warfare game changer. Eagle will stop at nothing in protecting her but neither will he allow a family member to sacrifice themselves to save Olivia.
I was so excited to read this book! It is the first in the series, but not the first introduction to Prey Security, Eagle and his family. We met them in previous books in the Saving SEALs books and I was totally intrigued by them. This book did not disappoint. I loved getting to know the Oswald family and see them working together. Eagle is fiercely protective of all of his family and that leads to his not so gentle detention of Olivia.
Olivia is kind and gentle, with a heart that is too big for her own good. That's where her trouble started and got her mixed up with the Oswald family. Lucky for her, her initial situation is worked out, but she is still in danger. That danger taking the reader on a fantastic ride.
This was a good read, an exciting story and a fun start to the series. Now I just have to find the patience to wait for all the sibling's books!
Eagle and Olivia. 3.5 stars. Predictable and at times slow to read, the story is entertaining and does a great job of building a strong background of family and company for this series. Loved seeing Wolf, Cookie, and Abe from Susan Stoker’s books and how strong the female characters were in the face of adversity. There are some potential triggers either way torture, suicide, and sexual assault, but they are not the main themes or actions of the story. Eagle is a strong lead and it is rare to see a series start with the oldest sibling and head of the company. Olivia is quiet and from very humble background, but she stands out with her loyalty and strength even in adversity and fear. The other siblings sound interesting and the cliffhanger with Raven and her daughter (!!!) has me I tortured to read the next book.
Wow what a roller coaster ride full of suspense, heartbreak and loss. Olivia knowing how it feels to be alone growing up in foster care she will do anything for her friends even if it means her death. Eagle growing up in a loving home knows what it feels like to love and be loved, so when he is dealt with a horrific loss in his family he becomes fiercely protective of his family and friends. So when Eagle and Olivia meet its not under the best circumstances even if the sparks fly can they learn to trust one another. When Olivia is put in danger Eagle will do anything to get her back. I absolutely love Eagle and Olivia. What a fantastic couple and can not wait for the next book in this series. Highly recommend this book.
Jane Blythe is an excellent storyteller. This book had me hooked by the first page. Eagle will do whatever it takes to protect his family and employees. Olivia took the job at Prey Security to help a friend. Little does she know what a mistake she made. They are mutually attracted to each other but neither one knows it. Eagle's actions threw a major monkey wrench into things and now Olivia wants nothing to do with him or his company. Everything changed when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a terrorist. Eagle feels terrible about his actions and the misunderstanding between them. Will he be able to get her out of the clutches of a madman? Get this book ASAP and find out. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
