Letty wanted her ashes scattered under a full moon at the beach, but she couldn’t have known about the lightning strike....or did she?

When their beloved godmother dies suddenly, the Concordia sisters converge on the beach town of Sarasota, Florida to mourn the passing of the woman who raised them. While there, they must scatter her ashes as instructed and decide what to do with her consignment shop, One Woman’s Junk.

Navigating her relationships with her older sisters is hard enough for Beatrice, but after they’re all struck by lightning, things get more complicated in the land of sun and sand. With the power of a newly inherited crystal ring, Bea is suddenly assailed by psychic visions when she touches certain objects.

When her godmother is posthumously accused of having stolen a designer purse (which Bea knows darn well is a knock-off – thank you very much), Bea becomes obsessed with proving her innocence.

Contending with a physical injury, challenging family dynamics, and business headaches, Bea struggles to harness and understand her visions.

With the help of an unusual new “friend” and the sexy carpenter next door, she’s determined to clear Letty’s good name.

But doing so may be a bad decision.

One that could cost her not only her relationship with her sisters…but her life.

I love it when a favorite author adds a new series to her awesomeness...

Book 1 in JB Lynn's psychic consignment mystery series was just as magical as I hoped it would be and I am beyond excited for more.

One Woman's Junk is about family, sister's and navigating the world together, this story was full of mystery with the promise of so much more, there was even a dash of romance, the setting was quirky, the characters where amazing and I got to the end of the story and couldn't wait for more, I seriously want to know what's happening next for the sister's.

An absolutely delightful mystery.

Three sisters, all 5 years apart inherit their godmothers second hand store in Florida. They are scattering her ashes on the beach when they are struck by lightening. The next day when they get out of the hospital strange things start to happen. Bea steals a small toy from the Uber’s back seat when it talks to her. Amanda keeps looking out the window at a a ghost that only she can see and speak to. The 3rd sister begins sketching obsessively, people and places she hasn’t seen before... this was a great read with interesting characters and an interesting plot. I look forward to the next in series.

This was an OK read. I enjoyed getting to know the sisters and their family dynamic as well as their harnessing their newly found gifts. The mystery was front and center but wasn’t too interesting. I found this a little too cutesy with the insta-love between one of the sisters and the carpenter. I will probably read the next one because the mystery of their godmother’s death was not resolved in this one.

When the woman who raised the three Concordia sisters passes suddenly, Bea, Winnie, and Amanda meet up in Florida to take care of Aunty Letty’s estate, which includes One Woman’s Junk, a consignment shop. After being struck by lightning, Bea and Amanda discover they have some unique abilities, leading them to suspect Aunt Letty’s death was not accidental.

One Woman’s Junk is the first in a new woman-driven cozy mystery series. The thing that makes this unique to other cozies I’ve read is that we are privy to three different POVs; however, I would say that Bea feels like the main character. This first book is filled with world building as we get to know the sisters, see them mend fences, and come together to save the shop. There is no info dumping, but the world-building takes up much of the book.

The three sisters have a lot of baggage. They’ve grown apart over the years, and each is dealing with a life-altering difficulty, making it a good time to possibly start over, together in Florida. However, they often bicker and quarrel as they begin to mend fences. It bothered me how often middle sister Winnie put down the other two, especially Bea.

When a police detective lets them know that Letty’s been accused of theft, each sister pursues answers along separate paths, but things don’t come together until they acknowledge some of their issues and work together. While they solve the case of the missing purse, the larger issues of what happened to Letty and what is happening to the sisters remains unsolved.

Narration: The story is shared via all three sister’s third-person POVs, with the majority coming from Bea. The narrator remains the same for all POV’s: calm, feminine, and slightly on the deeper side. Ms. Marlo alters all dialogue appropriately for gender and age, with each voice unique enough to identify. Her males voices are deeper and well-performed, and the voice of the little sheep toy is higher-pitched and well-suited for the character. Overall, Ms. Marlo makes the story easy to listen to.

In the end, One Woman’s Junk is the start of what looks to be an interesting cozy series. Much remains for the sisters to figure out, and I look forward to following along.

My Ratings:
Story: B
Narration: B+

I kind of stumbled onto this series as a freebie and found it to be a well-written mystery as well as a peek into the three sisters' lives. I did get a little tired of hearing how irresponsible Beatrice could be. Of the sisters, Amanda and Bea were my favorites. Winnie will need to do some winning over on my part, lol. She's not terrible, but I guess I just wish she'd criticize a little less. Maybe she's feeling a bit jealous because Amanda and Bea seemed to have developed some psyhic type gifts.

Oh well, the mysteries were good. The death of their godmother that brought the girls together turned out to be suspicious in Bea's mind, so she set out to prove Letty was murdered, but she did manage to help solve another crime in the art world. I loved the little dog that adopted the girls. He seemed to love Bea the most, but Amanda eventually came around. I'm sure Winnie eventually will.

A couple of things were left hanging but I have a feeling finding out if someone killed Letty will be an ongoing storyline. I'm interested in continuing the series--for one thing, I'd like to see Bea in action when her leg isn't broken.

I got the first one of the series free through Amazon. Not quite what I expected, but a slightly interesting good storyline. It was a quick and easy read.

Three distinctly different sisters are brought together after their godmothers death. The fact that they dont get along or like each other is evident.

I personally didn't really care for the constant belittling of each other and shrugging instead of talking. They acted like three middle school children instead of adults.

I did like the different powers/gifts they supposedly possessed and are more powerful together. A take off of the tv show Charmed.

Bea talks to inanimate objects, and Amanda can see ghosts, Winnie does some type of remote sketching. The sisters are rather annoying and not really interesting, but a few of the other characters are.

The Concordia sisters meet up in Florida after their Godmother Letty dies. An interesting cozy mystery about the sisters finding new places in each others lives and in a new city along with trying to figure out why their Godmother died. Interesting characters and a good plot I enjoyed this first book in the series.

This story made me smile the entire way through. I loved the quirky characters of Beatrice, Amanda, and Winnie, who just inherited a consignment shop from their late godmother, Letty. All kinds of strange things start to happen and their ownership of the shop turns into more than they could've imagined, which make them question whether they knew the sweet, loving Letty like they thought they did. Each of the three girls discover they have a special 'gift', which gives the story a unique spin. The author had a fun way of presenting the plot and twisting events to keep me guessing.

Charming mystery

Gathering the Concordia sisters to run godmother Kerry's consignment store is a notable way to workout lingering family issues and investigate Letty's death. Shortly after arriving to Sarasota the ladies are struck by lightning, which appears to release psychic powers in two of the sisters. The story is faced paced, full of unusual characters, with just a hint of budding romance. A totally enjoyable read.

I probably would have rated this higher if these sister had not acted like adolescent fighting over space in the bathroom or their favorite boy band. They could not even come together to mourn the death of their “beloved” godmother Letty without devolving into fighting, insulting, shaming each other 😤😤😤😤.

Deciding whether to keep the store? It’s a fight! Deciding if they have paranormal abilities? It’s a fight? Do we keep the dog? It’s a fight! And on it’s goes. I’m surprised they came together at the end to rescue (partly) one of them. I think Amanda and Bea grew the most, and that’s saying a lot, Winnie on the other hand 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

With the first mystery solved, of the stolen purse, the death of Letty still remain an open book, the ladies still need to learn about their powers and they still need to figure out how to keep the store out of the hands of their landlord.

i liked it but..

Liked it BUT (SPOILER) it is seriously annoying when characters behave incredibly stupid (against their prior very OBVIOUS experience) and makes women look completely stupid. I hope that the author can get around her propensity for storyline’s that rely on the women discovering the truth as she writes them then finding themselves alone so they can be ‘gotten’ by the baddies, some effort in not making the characters lose all my respect would be appreciated. Oh and relying on a man to save them is also not ideal. Grrr

I was a little annoyed about the way these sister relate to each other. They blame it on a 10 yr age gap but I have 2 sisters, one 10 and one 11 yrs older than me. I know them both well. And they also act like they didn't know Letty well...she raised them! Beatrice didn't know a different mother. Why were thry not in cobtact with her before her death? Why hadn't they visited the shop? Very unrealistic.

What a great start to a new series by JB Lynn! We meet the Concordia sisters when they come together after their godmother dies. There is mystery, a cute dog, and a sexy carpenter! What more could you ask for? Loved this book and can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Concordia sisters and their thrift store!

I usually enjoy JB Lynn's books for a light read. Overall the writing has improved over the years. This one just didn't grab me as much as the "Hitwoman" series did. It wasn't bad and I'll likely keep reading, since it was the first in a new series. It may just need more time to better develop the characters, their back story, etc.

This was a fun story if, I felt, a little disjointed. The age difference between the sisters makes for an awkward relationship, but the awkwardness was played up a bit too much, in my opinion. While I want to know what happens, I doubt I'll read the next books.

Disappointing End

I was really enjoying reading this book until I got to the end. Warning- there is no solution to the primary mystery of who killed Letty. The other mystery though solved, wasn't really all that interesting. I was very disappointed.

UNUSUAL FUN

The three sisters inherited more than they bargained for with the death of their beloved godmother. The twist ended in a cliffhanger.

Awesome

Action packed from beginning to end. Quirky characters, talking sheep, ghost, and a feisty dog--my kind of story. Definitely worth the read.

I was enjoying this getting to know the three sisters but what happened to the mystery? By the time the mystery got going and they had decided their godmother was murdered that was pretty much the end of the book and nothing really got solved. The story is told by all three sisters and I enjoyed it most when it was the younger sister Bea's turn, she is the most interesting of the sisters and the one with the obvious newly acquired powers. She is also the first to start investigating and the most impulsive, just a great character, especially with her sidekick of a talking sheep toy. It has the usual rivalry between the siblings and focused a lot on the dynamics between them. This is obviously going to be a long running mystery of what happened to there godmother and there is still a lot to learn about the three sisters, for me the biggest (other than who is the murder) is what powers hasn't the oldest sister revealed? As the story has been set up so well I will probably jump right into the next book and hope for some answers and more of a mystery.
Three sisters who had gone there separate ways are brought back together after the death of there godmother, the woman who raised them. She wanted her ashes to be scattered on the beach under a full moon but in a thunderstorm is probably not there best idea. At least they are on there own apart from a stray dog and lightening. After no I'll effects from the strike the next morning the sisters are in the godmother shop trying to decide what to do with it. It's only then that Bea and Amanda discover not every is all right. Especially when the police turn up to search the shop for a stolen purse. Could there godmother be dealing in stolen goods? Bea doesn't think so and sets out to prove it, with or without her sisters help even if she is stuck in a wheelchair. She also comes to be conclusion that maybe her death was no accident either.
I liked the narrator. She used her voice well to portray the different characters both make and female, I especially liked the voice she used for the toy.

The bad:
This isn’t a complete story by itself. The main mystery isn’t solved. The subplot isn’t enough to be considered an entire story. The characters do dumb things. If they didn’t, the story would be over. The characters also make stupid assumptions that no one would make to keep the story going.
The characters, especially Winnie, are annoying! The plotting and handling of the story is ham-handed and transparent (no surprises here). I’m sad to say that I couldn’t wait for it to be over, and even when the book was over, it wasn’t finished.

The ok:
The author has a decent writing “voice.” With practice and good editing, in the future she could produce books worth reading. This is the kind of effort that wouldn’t have been published a few years ago, but the author would have been given an encouraging note to keep working because they showed promise. As an avid reader, I’m increasingly finding that what should be practice efforts keep getting thrust on the unsuspecting public by self published authors. Buyer beware.

Bottom line:
I will not be buying the other books in this series.

I can already tell I’m wishing there were more than 4 books in this series because I like it a lot! I am a bit partial to JB Lynn though. She’s written nothing but great books and I’ve enjoyed every one as much as the last.
The sisters, Amanda and Bea are experiencing special…talents and about midway through the book they finally opened up to one another admitting they have “powers”; however, Winnie is not in agreement of the sisters being sane. She doesn’t necessarily believe Amanda sees ghosts or that Bea has visions when she touches certain objects.

My thoughts are that maybe Winnie is jealous that none of her alleged talents have shown themselves yet, she truly doesn’t believe anything is happening, OR Winnie is actually powerful and doesn’t want to admit this to her sisters.

The ending of this book did show justice on the “bad guys”, but also left an opening for the next book.

So, I’m getting to that one now.

Interesting

First, the family dynamics were interesting. The 3 sisters are not best friends. They are 5 years apart, which, for them, meant they really did not play together. They had some trauma growing up. A good part of the book is about them trying to work through some issues. That is still a work in progress. Also interesting is how their gifts start to manifest and lead the youngest sister to think her Godmother's death may be questionable. Then it is interesting how all 3 sisters came together on one issue, also regarding their Godmother. It was good to see them start to support one another in that regard. The mystery that was solved was lead by the youngest sister. I have already started to read book 2, which so far appears to be lead by the middle sister.

A Junk shop?

Three sisters come to Florida when their godmother Letty dies. She owned a consignment store that the girls are just not sure what to do with. The terms of the will says they cannot sell it for 18 months. They open the store and Letty's friends and non friends come in, complicating their lives.

It doesn't help that the three have latent psychic powers that have been enhanced by jewelry from Letty and from being struck by lightning!

How do they handle the store? How about their new found talents? Did Letty really die because of an accident? Why is the ghost, Rupert, still hanging around?

Lots of fun, good writing, and characters you will fall in love with.

Fun and unconventional, this book has three sisters dealing with the death of their godmother and with each other. When the three go out on the beach in stormy weather to scatter their godmother's ashes they are struck by lightning. The resulting psychic "gifts" cause some funny and strange interactions and help solve a crime. Much of the story is about the women learning to be good sisters and a little romance is included for at least one of them. Interesting and a little quirky, this book would appeal to cozy fans and fans of psychic abilities.

If you enjoy magical realism, then you will enjoy One Woman's Junk. Three sisters arrive in Sarasota after the death of their Godmother. Mix together a cast of whimsical characters, blooming romance, a mysterious ghost, talking trinkets, and psychic gifts to help solve a possible murder. The case isn't solved in book one. Keep reading the next two books in the series to learn more. One Woman's Junk is an enjoyable story. I will keep reading to find out "Who Done It!"

This was a pleasant read. I enjoyed the banter of the sisters - reminds me of families I know. Running a second hand shop is a challenge - particularly if you've never been in that business.

Then all of the other details fall down on them. The death of their godmother is suspicious. The landlord wants to sell. There is magic in the air. Lots is happening, but not real stressing.

Enjoy it on an afternoon when you just want to sit back and enjoy a book.

What a fun book!

At first, I wasn’t too sure that I would like this book but I’m glad I kept going. Three sisters, far apart in age, come together after the woman who raised them died. The three of them never knew that they had special gifts until a situation forced them to seek the truth.
The book is full of interesting characters, a few interesting men, and a mystery that must be solved.
