I highly recommend. I have it in audiobook for reading in the car, and hard copy for when I need to flip right to specific animals. Zero regrets paying for both formats. It is meaty enough that I even enjoyed listening to the descriptions of each animal -- on audiobook (?!), which was a real surprise to me. (Other A-Z reference books I've tried on audiobook, like Angel Numbers or 1000 Dreams, etc were *not even a little* listenable as audiobooks.) This one is the exception. In fact, I'm on my second listen to the list of animals, and it's still enriching on the second go-round.

The things I liked best: Rather than leaving you wondering, "Ok, that's nice, but how???" you're given instruction enough that you'll feel prepared to actually go and discover/retrieve your animal spirit guides.* But the real richness is the coverage of each animal, which contains a satisfying amount of substance without making your head spin with info overload. Nor will you be left feeling cheated out of actually learning something real, which is how I've felt about the aforementioned angel number and dream reference books. It strikes the right balance. This book is not just fluff.

On the fence? Go for it.

*I highly recommend starting with Silva's book Native American Spirituality, which goes into much more depth on the HOW of reaching spirit guides, as opposed to the book reviewed at top, which gives you a basic approach to getting you where you need to go. Native American Spirituality also goes into great detail about the difference between animals as Guides, Totems, and Power Animals, which the book Animal Spirit Guides doesn't go into at all. So what I really recommend is that you buy them together, reading Silva's book Native American Spirituality first, and then continue on with Animal Spirit Guides. That way you get both the HOW and the WHAT, in sequence. Very valuable as companion reads, and the two books are bundled together for super cheap on Amazon.

Spirituality is Knowing
Mari Silva's mystical books are great at explaining the history and the ideas and rituals of Natural Spirituality, the message I most understood is that to be in touch and in balance you have to continue learning knowing. I highly recommend both books for those interested in Natural Spirituality.

I like how Mari Silva and Peter Holmquist teamed up to write this fascinating book on Animal Spirit Guides. In this book, they tell you what some of the Animal Spirit Guides are and the meaning that they convey. Every known creature can become a Spirit Guide, even though it may be temporary to give you support when you need it.

Very Comprehensive and Enlightening!

I really enjoyed the content of this book, especially the section on specific Animal Spirit Guides. The book is an enjoyable read and well organized. I would recommend it to anyone who is in tune with Gaia and Animal Spirits.
