Childhood friend Kane and Emma were always hanging out when they came to visit every year on family vacation, but Kane never saw his friend again after her parents were killed in an accident returning to the vacation spot where her memories were happiest was hard, so she kept avoiding it. But in order to close that chapter of her life or to move forward she knew she needed to go back to Virgin Falls seeing Kane again wasn’t actually planned. Kane sexy as all get out owner of the cabin/lodge where she decides to stay while there and the moment, he sees his old friend all the past feelings come rushing back for them both. The chemistry is more intense than it was when they were teens and they can’t seem to ignore any more than they could when they were younger so giving in was their only option but convincing Emma that being together now as adults has become his only mission will she see they can be together, will she get the closure she is looking for, and can she find peace and happiness with the one man she never forgot?

Fantastic story! Characters that will steal your heart. A storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! For me it was a love- hate deal as the characters face their demons. You will feel their emotions and struggles. A definite must read.

Emma has returned to Virgin Falls in hopes to get closure after her parents' death. But returning to the place she visited growing up also brought back feeling from her childhood, namely her childhood crush Kane. Kane has enjoyed living in the Virgin Falls and owns several cabins that get rent out. When he sees Emma in the first time in years, feelings for her grew fast. He might have remembered her as a good friend, but seeing the woman she is now, makes him want more.

The more time Emma spends in town, she gets closer to Kane but also remembers her parents, and the loss becomes too much so that she wants to run. Kane has a big heart and recognizes the pain and loss Emma goes through. He is willing to support her and be there for her, even if it means letting go.

Kane is a fast read that is full of emotions and love. The whirlwind ride your heart take will leave you gasping at the end.

Walking into the local bar, she recognizes Kane immediately as he is playing pool with friends. As soon as he hears her voice, he recognizes her and gives her a big hug. He invited her to stay at his lodge, and she agrees. Both Kane and Emma want to be more than friends. But Emma is not sure she is ready for a relationship yet. Kane is patient and is there for her. Will she be able to focus on the love she has here and move past the pain of her loss? Her parents had loved this place. And the man she loves is here, waiting for her to open her heart to him. Will being with Kane be the healing love she has been looking for? Or will she let her fear of moving forward make her walk away again?

This is the 8th book in the Veterans in Alaska series featuring Kane and Emma's emotional story. Emma is returning to Virgin Falls for the first time in 15yrs in search of closure following the death of her parents. Coming back to where she always visited growing up is bringing back some long buried feelings like her longtime crush on Kane. Kane recognized Emma as soon as he heard her voice in the bar he gives her a huge hug and invites her to stay at his lodge. They both are attracted to each other and want more than friendship but Emma's not sure she can invest in a relationship until she deals with her loss. It's been 15yrs and her parents loved this place can Kane help her overcome her fear? You really need to read this emotional story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Emma and Kane were friends when they were kids. Then when her parents died in an accident Emma left and hadn't return. Now years later she is back, and she runs into Kane at a bar she stops at when she arrives back in town. Kane offers her a cabin at the lodge he owns to stay at. She reconnects with some other friends. Emma came back to town for more than just reconnecting with friends though. She wants to see where her parents had their accident. That way she can finally move on from their passing. Sparks fly between her and Kane and soon Emma isn't sure she wants to leave town. Will Kane convince her to stay with him?

This is a great story that will captivate you from the first chapter on. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This was a nice story and it read smoothly and quickly. Emma and Kane have known each other for a while. Emma has been absent from Virgin Falls for a long time after her parents died while hiking. She's back to deal with the loss.

When they slowly make contact and slowly get to know each other again. On the one hand, they want to expand their friendship to more, but on the other, it's not going smoothly. Kane wants the chance to prove to Emma that they belong together. will he succeed and Emma will let go of the fear and choose a relationship after all? Who knows, the structure of the story and the characters and their characters are great and I enjoyed reading this story.

First things first; I like the cover of this book!
Kane is the eighth book in the ‘’veterans in Alaska’’ series.
This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. When Emma returns to the town her late parents died in, she doesn’t expect to find love. Kane and Emma were best friends growing up. Now reconnected as adults, will love blossom between them?
The chemistry between Kane and Emma is clear to see and I liked them together.
I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I look forward to more books from this series.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Emma and Kane. Emma returns to Virgin Falls, trying to deal with the loss of her parents, years ago. The first person she sees is her old friend, Kane. They reconnect, with each of them wanting to be more than friends but Emma is not sure a relationship is the best thing for her. Will Kane be able to show her otherwise or will her fear of the future keep them apart?

This is a sweet and emotional story, Emma and Kane were childhood friends and when her parents passed away she never returned to the small town. Now, back in Virgin Falls, Emma and Kane reconnect and the connection they had is definitely still there... an entertaining story that is quick to read. Likable relatable characters.

Good storyline of dealing with Emma’s past and a huge loss at a young age. Enjoyed the characters and how welcoming and understanding the entire community were. I liked how the storyline dealt with the process of it being ok to cry and be afraid, Kane’s character was well planned, it was pleasing that he was patient and true to his words.

Emma was coming home to Virgin Falls for the first time in 15 years. She runs into Kane first thing and he gives her a cabin to stay in. Kane was her boyfriend in high school, but she left after her parents died and hadn't come back. She loved him, but was afraid to commit. It was interesting to see their relationship develop. Both characters were written well.

Fifteen years after the tragic hiking accident where Emma's parents were killed Emma is back in Virgin Falls again. Running into Kane her childhood crush made her return sweet. Kane has loved Emma for years and never thought he would ever see her again but now that she's is in Virgin Falls he's not letting her get away again. This is a great second chance love story with likable characters, and a sweet happily ever after. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Another good book in this series

It was heartbreaking for Emma to return to her hometown after the accidental death of her parents but needed to visit the spot where they died. Kane and Emma were teenagers in love when she left. He tried helping her during her visit but she ran away. Kane would wait forever for her to return. There's more to the story. I'm going to miss these people when I'm done with the last book. Kane and Emma present a sweet story of second chances. I love that Kane is so patient and loving and kind. I understand how and why Emma is hesitant and afraid. I like the small town setting and the friends we meet. I like the trope. I like the beautiful mountain and water scenery. 3.5 stars

Not only is she coming back to the where her parents died but also to her childhood crush Kane. I always love when the characters knew each other as kids and when they meet again they find so much more together. I loved that Kane and Emma meet again and have an attraction. I loved that Kane was patient because these two belonged together.
